This was such a wonderful experience, my wife and I were sad to leave! Every morning breakfast was served at 9:00. The food is homemade and absolutely perfectly delicious! Michael, the owner, is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet, as is the staff on site. The room was perfect and so comfortable! This is walking distance to many of the shops and sites around town. We are already planning our next visit for next year! Stayed at the Gaslight Inn two nights 6/2-4/2024, and really enjoyed it. I would definitely go back again! I was flying solo, so I stayed in the smallest (cheapest) room - Violet Room - and it was nice if not huge. Bed, bath, etc., were really nice. Room does have TV and wi-fi, but I was "on vacation" and did not use them that much. Mornings I went down, grabbed coffee, and sat out on the 2nd floor balcony reading and enjoying the view of the yard. Weather was great this visit, and this was hard to beat! The public spaces in the inn were plentiful on both 1st and 2nd floors, and I felt very comfortable. Gaslight's location is in the heart of Gettysburg, and everything but the battlefield itself is an easy walk. That included places to eat and get ice cream. I preferred this to being farther out, driving around, finding parking, etc. Hosts - Mike and Jennifer - were great, friendly, answered all questions, and helped with anything I wanted. If you are looking for a 9-room B&B experience with other nice people, want to enjoy the heart of the town of Gettysburg, and do not need a mega-hotel, the Gaslight Inn should be high on your list. read more

We were on a long trip up the Eastern coast when we decided to make a slight detour to Gettysburg. It was a last minute booking, but we managed to get a room at Gaslight. The wonderful owners, Michael and Jennifer were kind enough to host us, and as soon as we pulled up we knew we'd hit that jackpot. The Gaslight Inn is located just a couple of streets over from Baltimore Street, the main drag in Gettysburg. It's just a block from Lincoln Square, which is the center of Gettysburg. We were within walking distance from everything. Museums. Landmark homes. The battlefield. Everything was at our finger tips, yet it felt like we were worlds away at the quiet Gaslight. Michael and Jennifer took over the Gaslight in 2018 after staying at the Inn many times on their own trips to Gettysburg. They've taken it and loved it and done whatever they can to make it feel like home while still maintaining its Civil War decor. That's not very hard considering Michael is a serious history buff. If you want to know anything about the Civil War or the Gettysburg area, he's your guy. The inn has nine rooms, all with an historic feel, but the comfort of a high-end resort. We stayed in the stunning Ivy Room on the second floor. It had a comfy King bed and sitting area, with a private bathroom. We even had some delicious muffins waiting for us when we checked in. The other rooms in the Inn are located on the second and third floors and have everything from California King to Queen beds, spa showers, and tubs. All of the rooms are given on-site free parking behind the inn. Now let's talk about breakfast. You enjoy your delicious meal in the dining room, which, like the rest of the rooms in the house, is decorated to honor the historical significance of Gettysburg. Breakfast is served at 9am but if you need to get up earlier, Michale and Jennifer offer a grab-n-go breakfast. Just let them know in advance and thy'll take care of you. On the morning we were at the inn, we started with a delicious cup of coffee and fresh fruit. Then we had the most delicious baked French toast. It was cooked to perfection with a soft inside and crispy edges with a sweet, but not too sweet flavor. And the fresh strawberry in the middle just added a little pop of yum that we weren't expecting. It was delicious. To say we had a luxurious experience at Gaslight is an understatement. We loved it and can't wait to go back, because one night was not nearly enough. A lovely experience in the heart of Gettysburg. Just a short 3-5 minute walk from the main Square, it is situated on a quiet street. We came for a visit over Memorial Day Weekend. The Garden Room on the Main floor, just off the dining room, was a lovely room for a couple. Large bed, giant bathroom, and cozy atmosphere. A note: Because it is right off the dining room and kitchen, be prepared to hear the sounds of the staff at around 7:30am as they prepare breakfast for 9am. The breakfast is a little too formal, but lovely nonetheless. Served promptly at 9, it is served in courses. My husband and I did feel little trapped into conversation with other guests-you are all sitting at a long dining room table-and there is never an opportunity to ask, nor was the offer made, for refills of juice. If you didn't want coffee or tea, you received a goblet of orange juice and that was it. Again, it was a delicious breakfast, but a little more formal than we needed. The next two days, we were heading out before the 9am breakfast call, and so they packed us to go breakfasts of muffins, granola bars, apples, and to go coffee cups. This was grand. The coffee/tea bar is available throughout the day and includes sodas and freshly baked cookies! It was a lovely experience. Our host did mention he was retiring this past Thursday, so I cannot speak to the new management, but if the staff stays on, it will continue to be lovely. Parking in the back can be tricky, but they give you a map and a parking pass, which is a lifesaver especially during the busy season. This was our first trip to Gettysburg for a mini getaway. We chose the Gaslight Inn based upon visitor rating. We have stayed at our share of B&B's. Some wonderful and some not so. Gaslight Inn is one on our wonderful list. If we get back to Gettysburg, we will stay here again. Parking is a bit challenging until you get the lay of the land. Limited parking is a function of being in a very old town. Once you find the ally way, you have safe parking. We were greeted by Mike, and he made us feel at home right away. The place is cozy and charming. Mike showed us where the complimentary snack and soft drink area. This is certainly one of the many ways the inn makes you feel welcome. There were cozy common seating areas and the Christmas decorations added to the ambiance. Mike asked if we had any dietary restrictions when telling us about the morning breakfast time. Since we had none, we experienced their delicious breakfasts. We stayed for three nights, and each morning was a new and inspired menu. There was one formal seating for breakfast at 9:00 AM. We are early risers so 9:00 was a bit late for us, but it works because most of the shops and tourist destinations do not open until 10:00. Since everyone was seated at once, small talk, at times, was strained. If you wanted or needed to avoid the formal breakfast, a boxed breakfast is available upon request. We stayed in the June Rose room, located on the third floor. The website does warn you that it was on the third floor, but we chose the room for the King Bed and walk-in shower. We dealt with the hike up the stairs. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. The Inn's location is conveniently located to the center of the town. There are many shops and restaurants located in walking distance. The weather was great, so we took advantage of walking to the center of town. read more

We stayed at the gaslight for my birthday in the aster room on the third floor. It had a great view of the garden and access to the balcony. The room had a cozy seating area with a gas fireplace and very comfy bed. The inn keepers (mike and Jen) were super friendly and had some great recommendations of what to do in town. Breakfast was provided each morning where you'd eat at the table with your fellow guests. This weekend was a full house but you wouldn't have noticed. The staff was very attentive and always made sure your coffee was full. Breakfast was a set 3 courses each day and was absolutely amazing. 10/10 best B&B experience read more

While staying in Gettysburg during the winter and stayed at 3 B&B's during our stay, and The Gaslight was by far the best! Check Inn was super smooth with the owners checking in the day prior to confirm our info. Our room was very comfy, and the location is great right in the middle of town with parking behind the building. Michael made excellent breakfasts, usually consisting of a appetizer with main course with orange juice, tea and coffee available. His French toast was by far one of the best I've ever had! He also had some neat stories to share about the battle. With the Covid situation still on going, things were very clean, there was always hand sanitizer available, and mask wearing in public areas so we felt completely comfortable. We plan to go back to Gettysburg one day and definitely plan to stay here again! Also I'll note, since we came in the middle of winter, it was very cold outside, but inside we were toasty warm. While the other B&B's were cute and historic in their own way, they lacked either in the breakfast provided, following of sanitation and mask wearing, and/or owner hospitality. For veterans such as myself, they also offered a small discount in their booking. Can't wait to return! read more

My wife and I spent two nights here last week. We liked everything--the comfortable room, the fabulous breakfast, and the unobtrusive service. We spent a lot of time on the battlefield and in various museums. After a busy day, it was great to come back to such a warm and comfortable place. We live 8 hours away but we'll be back for sure. This place is absolutely wonderful - we were greeted by Mike (an owner) with tea and treats. He showed us to our room and took time to show us places of interest in the town, explain all the amenities, and truly made us feel welcome. The property is lovely - two big dining rooms (with the mentioned tea/coffee area), lots of spacious rooms, and a giant garden in the back. We even had a patio overlooking the garden. Breakfast was delicious, and I can't overstate how welcoming they were. read more

A comfortable, pleasantly appointed home just yards from the center of Gettysburg. Convivial hosts, superb breakfast, a beautiful garden, nicely appointed rooms with comfortable beds, plush towels. High point of our visit was the breakfast each morning, with delicious poached eggs, pumpkin smoothies, and smoked bacon. Wood floors in many of the rooms toward the front of the house, modern (unremarkable) carpeting in the rest. It's not like staying in a museum, much more like a home -- livable, not overdone. Their website indicates one room, off the beautiful garden, is accessible. The others are up at least one flight of stairs. Rooms in the rear have direct access through glass doors to a south balcony overlooking the garden. The owners might add a star with real instead of gas fireplaces and period carpets, but that would certainly up the costs and increase the room rates. Fine just as it is, a superb place to stay in a wonderful, historic town. read more

Our 'Lily Room' situated on the 3rd floor was a chore to lug up our luggage. Their rooms do not have their own A/C thermostat control. Once the A/C situated in their 'hallway' reached their 70 degree setting, it did not turn on for quite some time, making the rooms quite warm to sleep comfortably. Bedrooms have windows making it warmer to begin with in the summer, and the higher the floor, the hotter it gets. The girl was rude to us until it was discovered that the room's A/C vent was closed. Breakfast was served beautifully, but it would have been nice to know beforehand what was being offered so a decision could be made as to whether one desired to attend a 9 am breakfast or to graciously decline. The bed did not have a box spring, and the pillows needed replacing. It was in walking distance to the heart of town and clean, but I would hesitate to book again. read more

The location is convenient, and the room/bath were clean & comfortable. Breakfasts tasted good, but I was still a little hungry afterwards. Elizabeth was friendly. The rest, well, taciturn is best word I can think of. Not rude at all, just quiet. I'm naturally chatty, so take that into account. read more
