You're given a menu every day with different options for breakfast. They have coffee, water, juice. It's a nice assortment spread for breakfast. You plan what time you're gonna have breakfast with them every morning and they have a table ready for you when you get there you're super friendly and for you with a bright smile. Cool separated suite with multiple rooms. Access to the main house by code when it's closed. The host always has fresh cookies in the main lobby, which is a sweet nice touch. The room is pretty nice. It's cool to be in historic room in downtown Gettysburg create walking location right by the center roundabout circle right in the heart of all the shops and restaurants and everything to do in downtown Gettysburg. It's it's not like a nice brand new hotel if that's what you're expecting but the amenities are very nice brand new clean bathroom all the furniture fits in with the time of the room. B&B in the heart of downtown Gettysburg. We signed up for a late-night ghost tour, and even though we only live an hour away, we decided to make a trip of it. We made reservations at the Brafferton, and it was the best choice ever! We were greeted by the owner as we pulled up to check in. We were given a tour. We were shown where they put the free cookies for guests, and there is 24-hour coffee and tea available in the main room. After the tour, we relaxed in our time-appropriately decorated room. It was beautiful and very comfortable, with a separate sitting room and exclusive access to a deck. After a great night's sleep in our quiet and very comfortable room. We went down for breakfast at our chosen time. There were numerous options on the menu. All were freshly made to order and delicious! Do NOT pass up on the Brafferton Inn! read more

Love staying here! The room is always clean and quiet even though it faces the street. A nice touch they added was a noise machine along with ear plugs if the outside noise was too loud. Their breakfast is different every morning. There are four items to choose from including a vegetarian option. The breakfast always starts with a bowl of fresh fruit and a pastry. Then your main meal. It is just enough to leave you full but not stuffed. Highly recommend this place when you visit. read more

The hosts Brian and Joan are very accommodating, they make sure we have everything we want without being overwhelming! Brian makes the best breakfast of all the Inns in Gettysburg! Each morning Joan makes a different flavor muffin which is to die for! It's perfectly located downtown, so you are able to park your vehicle and walk everywhere. Plenty of shopping, restaurants, history all right around the corner. They have many different room/suite options, our favorite go to is the Getty's suite. From the warm greeting to the special touches. This place is awesome. The have homemade chocolate chip cookies and meringue treats available ALL day. Our room Codori, was spacious and had several great features. Large shower with awesome shower head. Towel warmer, comfy bed, even the pull out bed was comfy. Bright lighting, Mini fridge, microwave, large counter space for all my girly things. Everything is amazing. Close to walking for everything. And then there are the breakfasts. We only spent one night here but it was amazing! Brian and his wife are so hospitable and kind, Brian was kind enough to accommodate us when we arrived a bit earlier than expected. He gave us a quick but efficient tour of the property before letting us get settled into our room. The room was adorable and comfortable, I especially loved the comforter on our bed! Everything was clean and neat, you can tell they take a lot of pride in their property. Breakfast in the morning was INCREDIBLE! As were the homemade cookies and meringues that were available in the parlor. Overall I have absolutely zero complaints other than wishing we could have stayed longer. Our first visit to Pennsylvania and we were lucky enough to pick the perfect inn for our stay. We love historic areas and this home was a beautiful one in an historic city. Perfectly located in downtown Gettysburg, within walking distance to many shops and restaurants and a short drive to Civil War sites as well as the Eisenhower Farm. The inn owners were very welcoming, helpful, prepared delicious breakfasts (offering several entrees each day) and Joan has made it even more beautiful with her lovely garden. Our family of four stayed at the Brafferton Inn Bed and Breakfast for a couple of nights on our visit to Gettysburg, PA. Built in 1786, the Brafferton Inn is the oldest deeded home in downtown Gettysburg. The Inn actually consists of the home itself, as well as other buildings to accommodate the multiple suites and bedrooms. We loved the Inn's central location, just steps away from Lincoln Square and close to many restaurants, museums, tours, and historical sights. The Inn is a family business, run by Joan, her son Brian, and his wife Amybeth. Joan checked us in and showed us to our rooms. She was helpful with information about the town. She was even able to recommend a local laundromat when I needed one. Brian was in charge of breakfast. The breakfasts were delicious. There was fruit and muffins with a choice of about five entrees. The only negative I would say is that the dining room is very small so you must sign up for a specific breakfast time. On our visit we only had one or two time choices. It can be limiting if you have an appointment for a tour or need to leave at a specific time. We stayed in the Cordori Suite, which was located on the first floor of the Carriage House. Best part about the suite? It came with a parking spot. The other rooms do not! The suite, with modern but homey decor, had plenty of room for our family: a bedroom with a king size bed, 2 full bathrooms (including a large jacuzzi tub & spa shower in one), a large sitting room with a queen size sofa bed, a Keurig coffee machine, and a mini fridge with cream for your coffee! I absolutely loved the large bathroom. What I did not like was the skylight in the bedroom, one of the only sources of light in the room that seemed to make the room very bright in the morning! You can look at the Inn's website for a detailed description of each room. As far as the rest of the house goes, there is only public access to the breakfast room and a living rooms/parlor where there is a Keurig coffee machine and often, fresh baked cookies. I don't think we will need to visit Gettysburg again (once was enough!) but I would highly recommend the Brafferton I read more

This is my first experience staying at a bed and breakfast and I was not disappointed. The staff is so kind and attentive and the breakfast was delicious! We stayed in the Olde Master Bedroom so we had a private bathroom across the hall from our room which really made me feel at home. The bedroom was original to the house, it really felt like you stepped back in time when you walked in. One of my favorite parts of the B&B was the outdoor seating area. It was too hot to sit outside long but next time we come back we will be sure to bring some wine to enjoy outside. Pro: There are many...I highly recommend this BnB A beautiful , historic building and the accommodations were excellent. So close to everything in downtown. We stayed in the Lincoln suite the room was the size of a small apartment and very clean and the spa shower was great to have after walking around all day. Dining room was small so you had to schedule a dining time no big deal and nothing can be done about that and breakfast was good. I would stay here again Con: I would have liked to have seen more of a complementary selection of beverages besides coffee and tea, maybe bottled water for the guests. This really was minor and not a deal breaker at all. The host's were nice and the staff helpful and friendly. If your thinking of staying here go ahead and book it you won't regret it read more

My daughter and I returned from our 2nd visit at the Inn yesterday. Just as in our first visit last summer, we were once again taken back by the beauty of the Inn and the gracious hospitality of the "Inn Keepers" , Joan, Brian & Amybeth. We were always greeted with a warm smile and welcome. Cat and I also enjoyed our chats with Amybeth. We stayed in the Deck Suite this time and it was so cozy, beautifully decorated and clean! Breakfast was delicious and a real treat. Since Cat and I both share a love of the history of Gettysburg and the Brafferon Inn, we decided we will make this an annual trip. Stayed here this past weekend. My wife and I stayed in Dorothy's Hideaway. We had an incredible time. In short, if you are looking for a place to stay or particularly a bed and breakfast; stay here. Hands down. Let me break it down for you. The main house is where a lot of rooms are, the sign in office, the breakfast area, a lounge area, coffee all day and cookies in the afternoon. They also own the strip of stores next to them, with housing units above them. Very easy to get too with their own lock and keys. Private and secure feeling, and quiet! Above one of these building is a few rooms including Dorothy's hideaway. It is a very comfortable room, with a reading nook, tv, chairs, bed, heater/AC, a whole bath room, literally, with double doors a toilet sink shower and jacuzzi. The room was very nicely kept and cleaned every day. The breakfast is served at three separate times to accommodate guests and party size. Breakfast was incredible. The pastries that are warm and waiting for you at your table are to die for. My wife won't stop talking about them. You are then given three option to chose from which are delicious. The hosts are always very kind and friendly. We had an incredible time and are already planning and looking forward to staying here again next year. And hopefully in Dorothy's hideaway! The reason for the 4 stars is due to some of my nitpicking. And because I can't give them 4.5 stars. Or even 4.75!! The rooms and main area are decorated wonderfully and comfortably. But some of the walls need the wall paper removed and painted instead. See, just my small nitpicking. I'm a loser like that. All in all. Wonderful time and we will be returning! I recently spent a night here on a trip to Gettysburg and was looking forward to staying in this beautiful historical bed and breakfast. The location was excellent, right in the center of town and in eyesight of the building Lincoln stayed in when he gave his historical address. The lobby and common areas didn't disappoint; they were decorated with period furnishings and were beautiful. The rooms, however, were very basic and rather disappointing. Limited cable and linoleum tiling; not up to the standard I would expect after seeing the beautiful building and lobby. The breakfast was mediocre at best with a decent pastry and runny eggs. All in all, a decent place but I would try one of the other bed and breakfasts next time. read more

This place is amazing, incredible and worth every penny. My best friend and I had a "girl weekend" of being nerds and seeing historic stuff. First, we were greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies and lemonade and given a tour of the house. The Brafferton is the oldest continous residence in Gettysburg. our room was in the "new addition" built before the Civil War with flagstone floor. We stayed in a room with two twin beds that we affectonately called "The Spinster Room" even though we both have male sweethearts who were not in attendance. Super comfy beds. No tv which we did not miss. Our small bathroom was across the hall but well kept and lovely. You have to keep in mind the house predates plumbing and indoor bathrooms so they did a marvelous job pushing it in the floor plan. Might I add, we did not share the bathroom with anyone else even though it was across the hall. Also, We never heard another guest except when we saw them at breakfast. and OH what a breakfast! Served on red and white china in a drawing room painted with colonial murals. I still remember your piping hot muffins, gourmet fruit salad with blackberries and stunning egg scramble. The hashbrown scramble thing defies adjectives but I wish I had it again. your coffee was to die for. It was probably the best breakfast of my whole life and I don't say that lightly. It was also so not pretentious. People were friendly. Hell half of them were clean cut biker dudes cause we accidentally scheduled our trip during Harley Weekend. Blessed of all, The Brafferton Inn is also a little off the main square. We never had to deal with noise from all the ghost hunters and ghost tours and harleys roaring around Gettysburg. Quiet. Beautiful. Perfect. If you ever go to Gettysburg, hands down, stay here. It is worth the extra expense for the memories you'll carry for the rest of your life. ps the malt/milkshake shop across the street is a great place for a late afternoon snack. What a gem of an inn! The location is right off the main downtown area, with metered street parking. (This was the only negative thing - but we had been made aware of this, and the daily parking lot behind the inn was farily reasonable, with 75 cents an hour parking. Parking was free in the evening and overnight.) We stayed in the original wing of the inn (built in 1783) in the Battle Room. The room was much larger than it appeared in the website photos, and did indeed have an embedded minie ball in the fireplace mantle! The bed was luxurious, complimentary homemade cookies were divine, 24 hour make-your-own gourmet coffee was available in the lobby, and the warm breakfast of cheesy hashbrown casserole and apple popovers was terrific! We shared a drink on the back deck and then went to tour the Gettysburg battlefields. Our host was most helpful, lending us a driving tour CD (saved us 20 bucks!) and giving us directions to a great restaurant. (Gina's Place, just outside of Gettysburg on Hanover Street.) They have coffee and tea at all times and homemade cookies in the afternoon. The 2 breakfasts we had were delicious especially the homemade muffins with cream filling. The Brafferton Inn is a beautifully furnished and restored old house in downtown Gettysburg. My fiance and I had the pleasure of staying here recently for a weekend getaway and were extremely pleased with the level of care and service provided by the staff. We stayed in the newer part of the inn in "Dorothy's Hideaway" and were blown away by the size and comfort of the room. The on line pictures do not do it justice! The room had adequate storage for our belongings and the bathroom was immense: with a shower and two person jacuzzi tub. Our room also had a shared balcony (with no view but was nice to be able to sit outside with a glass of wine and relax). The breakfast provided was delicious, both days, and the staff took special care to make us comfortable with the food by giving us vegetarian options, prepared just for us. They served fruit, fresh made pastry, and then the main breakfast course. It was fantastic! Although the room was a tad on the pricey side, it was well worth it when all was said and done. We had a wonderful weekend and will definitely be back!! read more

We were visiting Gettysburg for a wedding over Labor Day weekend and decided to stay at The Brafferton Inn. Their prices were incredibly reasonable for the holiday weekend and the location is extremely convenient and close to the quaint downtown area of the town. We stayed in the Eisenhower Room which was in a separate building a few doors down from the main building. We loved having the private entrance but also still had access to the main building and parlor area whenever we wanted. When we arrived on Friday someone was there to meet us out in front of the main entrance and was very welcoming. The check-in was quick and easy so we were quickly able to get settled into the room. Both of us hadn't really been to Gettysburg before so really appreciated that they took the time to give us recommendations for places to visit and eat that weren't too touristy either Our room was spectacular, spacious and clean. We loved the little seating area around the fireplace and the window seats overlooking the street. Breakfast each morning was delicious too, the staff were very polite and personable making sure everything was okay but didn't hover too much either Overall I definitely recommend this Inn if you're visiting Gettysburg. If we plan another trip to visit the town in the future we will definitely be staying here again. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. Our room was the loft suite, up lots of steps but very private which we enjoy. It was just adorable. The breakfast was delish and the innkeeper remembered that I was a vegetarian and had options ready including "bacon" just for me. It was so good. The tea/coffee and cookies downstairs was great when we came in from sightseeing. I would absolutely stay there again. The wifi worked well in my room, but I'm learning with B&Bs that it is a good idea to verify if wifi works well in each room before booking if it is a top priority to you. read more

Wonderful, cozy inn in a delightfully historical building. It is very centrally located and a short walk to several pubs, restaurants. My room was cozy and comfortable! It had an attached bathroom with fluffy towels for the shower/tub. Yes, the floors creak but that's part of the charm of staying in an old home. Breakfast is absolutely amazing with homemade pastries and muffins and several entree choices. You will NOT start your day hungry! We stayed a total of 11 nights in The Pear Tree Suite. The room is the size of a apartment. Beautiful stone gas fireplace, hardwood floors and extremely comfortable king size bed. The room also has a jetted tub as well very nice shower with body jets. The room is separate from the main house with a private entrance through your own personal patio which is also huge. You are given your own parking space. In the afternoons in the Living room they put out the most delicious cookies. Speaking of delicious are the breakfasts. Each morning starts with juice, coffee, fresh fruit, homemade muffins to die for and choice of one of three entrees. If you stay here you will not go away disappointed. Visited this past weekend (October 2018) and loved it! Clean and quaint B&B right off the main Lincoln square. Location is great, you can walk anywhere! We didn't use the car all weekend. Even the visitor center and museum is only about a 35 minute walk (much shorter drive of course). Fresh and tasty breakfast every morning, clean rooms and very caring staff. Tons of surrounding restaurants and activities to choose from. Definitely recommend and will go back during our next trip to Gettysburg! Also, park out front when you get there! They have two spots dedicated for checking in. You can check in, drop off your bags and then drive around to their own specific parking lot for Brafferton guests. I stayed in the Chamberland Room. The beds were horrible. They skweeked whenever you moved. It was impossible to get any sleep. The sheets felt pretty cheap as well. I hated the fact that the "private bathroom" was across the hall and I thought they owners were pretty rude. The location is great though. My husband & I stayed here on May 30th & 31st. We were celebrating our anniversary. We had never stayed at a bed & breakfast so wasn't sure what to expect. Joan & Brian we're so welcoming. We stayed in the Pear room nits located outside in the back. We had our own entrance, parking & patio. It was so quiet. We had ordered the romance package/champagne & choc covered strawberries. When we got back from dinner there were in our room waiting for us. Champagne & strawberries were really good. Breakfast was really good Thursday morning. The homemade muffins were so good. We had told them we are leaving early Friday morning so Thursday night they have us orange juice, muffins, bananas, kind bars for the drive. They go above & beyond. I saw the earlier review and they must have replaced the mattress on the bed...though it was still a queen size. The room and Inn was clean, spacious and comfortable. This room also has double sinks, a shower and the two person jacuzzi tub was the highlight of this room. They make a beautifully delicious breakfast of just about anything you want. My boyfriend and I ended up in Gettysburg with no real plans and thought we'd kind of just see what happens. The Brafferton Inn caught our eye as being charming with a great location. We don't get to travel without our dog very often so we were looking for something that we normally wouldn't get to consider. The Brafferton Inn did not disappoint!! The owners were lovely and chatted with us. They were well versed on the history of the property and the town. Rooms were great, I'm not sure why people are leaving negative comments there...we stayed in the Battle Room, which features a bullet in the fireplace mantel! The bathroom was very modern (and private--not shared!) with excellent amenities including organic sulfate free shampoo which I very much appreciated. The room had AC and was a comfortable temperature and had a great view of the cute historic Gettysburg. Breakfast was above and beyond your typical breakfast.. It started with a bowl of fresh fruit and a pastry so good we had to inquire for the recipe along with our choice of a main entree prepared to order. Parking was exceptional with the owner even offering to feed a meter for us but we opted for the super convenient $10 all day parking in the garage right behind the property. Free wifi met our needs. We very much loved our stay and if we ever end up in Gettysburg again, we'd love to stay here. Very friendly service at this bed a breakfast. Great location and reserved spots (for our room) for our car. I think the room we had was too big for us to completely enjoy, it was the 2 bedroom suite in an extension of the house. It was just my wife and I so we didn't have much use for all the space. We booked it because it was the last room available. That being said, the breakfast wasn't to memorable, nor was the actually sleeping quarters. But the perks of excellent friendly service and location would be enough to bring me back. read more
