Since my original review, there has been a change to how procedures are done. The consultation is in the new offices further up on Hesperia Rd and in the new building just around the corner. Procedures are still performed in the original location across from the Chase bank. The waiting room is still cramped however and people are regularly standing or forced to wait outside the door due to a lack of seating. The TV had been removed and the receptionist has been replaced. The only saving grace was that the intake was fast and efficient. The staff were extremely professional and very helpful. I'd like to commend them for their positive attitudes and great service. read more

I had an appointment for 8:30 am. I took an uber. I was dropped off across the Street at Radnet. I tried to call and let them know I would be late because I had a 77 year old senior moment and went to the wrong place. (I have an appointment with Radnet in 2 days). Anyway, when you call, you're placed on hold. I was No. 6 in their que and did not get to talk to an operator until after 20 minutes. They told me I was a no-show and I had to cancel my appointment. I have waited for this appointment over a month. I'm sure we could have made it so I had to wait but their answer was no. read more

I went in for a colonoscopy. After arriving at the Hesperia Rd facility, I opened the wrong, unlocked door, and walked right into the area where all the patients were in their hospital beds and medical robes. They had no privacy whatsoever from anyone walking in that door. All the beds were full, and there were lots of them. I turned around and entered through the correct door to check in with the receptionist. The receptionist specifically told me that after my procedure, the doctor would come to me after I woke up, and let me know how it all went. This is what I was looking forward to, as I wanted his take on what he saw, and what things looked like. So, after the procedure, I woke up when I was being wheeled back to my waiting spot. A nurse assistant briefly told me that he removed a polyp. I waited for him to come over and speak to me, but he did not. So, I began to ask for him. I got dressed and they directed me to a chair near the exit door where I waited for the doctor. He still did not come out and speak to me. So, I asked an assistant who was walking by, that I was waiting to speak to him. She went and checked for him, came back out, and said he was in a procedure and could not come speak to me. Well, he was seeing so many patients that day, there was no way he would recall my situation, and what he saw, after going straight into another procedure, so I was extremely disappointed after all I had gone through, I would not get the answers to my questions from him. I had specific questions for the doctor doing my procedure and what he saw. I also wanted to know if I had only one polyp, the one he removed, or if there were others that he left untouched and only took one for biopsy. But while I was sitting in that chair by the exit door waiting for the doctor, an assistant started telling my son that she had, "told me already" and that I didn't remember because people waking up out of sedation were "forgetful". That was far from the case. I remembered very well what the front desk receptionist told me what would happen, so I waited, and it never happened. So, the assistants in the procedure area and the receptionist at the front desk are NOT on the same page. They are giving conflicting information. They are not giving patients the same information. Someone should let the receptionist know that the GI doctor does NOT come out to discuss his findings. I specifically asked her if he would, and she told me he would. I also asked the front desk if I would be provided some color pictures of my insides. She said yes, and I was NOT provided with any such color pictures of my colon. Be on the same page, people. Patients need clarity. I still give this place 2 stars because the anesthesiologist put my mind at ease after I explained my anxiety over sedation. (I had 2 family members die after being administered sedation). So, he really helped me through this ordeal, and if I could rate just him, I would give 5 stars. The GI doctor came in the room as I was being sedated and didn't really say hello, and he was not friendly at all. I believe he also must be fatigued everyday, all day, because of all the patients that he performs procedures on in a single day. It's ridiculous. People go in and out of here like cattle. I think that kind of rushing can lead to mistakes. And btw, for anyone being referred here due to a positive Cologuard test, I have found that test is completely inaccurate. It's some sort of a racket that the Cologuard makers are making these deals with insurers like IEHP to sell them tons of these test kits that patients are not even requesting. They just show up at your door one day, completely unexpected. I am very mad about this, because it ruined my Christmas and I had to wait about 5 months for the colonoscopy procedure. That's a long time to live in uncertainty. Someone is making a fortune off of these unwanted, completely inaccurate Cologuard tests and it should stop. I called Cologuard to find out what marker I tested positive for, because up until this thing came in the mail, I had 2 FIT tests and an MRI that were negative. The Cologuard representative said they don't know. She said they don't have that information, and that their negative/positive results are based on a probability formula and do not pinpoint any specific cause for their results. Well, sounds to me their test should not be on the market. If you don't know, why are you pushing this inaccurate, over-priced TRASH test that leads so many people into invasive procedures that could cause them REAL problems. read more

I've gone to the Gastro Group for stomach issues for many years. The PA Kari is patient, has great people skills, is willing to get to the source of the problem, and always follows up. Staff is very friendly. They get you in at your appointment time. My dr was very detailed talking to me about my next steps and what I needed to do. They are on top of prescriptions when you run out. I waited on hold for 1:45. The phone option to have call back didn't accept my number, so I had to stay on hold. I was still waiting for an agent to help me after 1:45 . It got to 5:00 pm no one helped me. They close at 5pm. I hung up at 5:10 waited for almost 2 hrs for nothing. Very frustrating. I'll have to try again tomorrow. read more

I went here in 2008 and afterwards until maybe 2012 and they deserved 5+ stars. Now or rather in 2022 was an entirely different matter. I could not schedule an appointment with Dr Biswas. I tried 4 times. I called twice. The first time they said they would call me back as they didn't have his schedule. I never received a call back. The second time the computers were down come back next week. I then went into their new office twice the got the same or similar results. No appointment. The bottom line I couldn't get in with Dr. Biswas. Biswas is a wonderful doctor kind caring and most importantly very well qualified. I don't want to see anyone else as my experience in our area has not been good. I have lived here since 1993 and saw a couple of other gastroenterologists but did not like or trust them. It's 2023 and I am once again trying to make an appointment since I got a new computer that actually load pages but their web site won't open. I don't know what happened to this group. They were incredible when they first opened. If anyone knows of a great Gastro doctor please leave me a reply if this takes replies. I can't travel down the hill. read more

Was there today for a follow up appointment, waited almost 10 months for this appointment due to the doctors schedule changing. I checked in and the give the lady my insurance cards, she then proceeded to tell me that I need an authorization from my secondary insurance(iehp) I have a ppo for my primary insurance and I Do Not need an authorization from the secondary insurance. She called another lady to come explain to me how I need an auth. They denied me my appointment told me they couldn't see me and they need to call iehp to get approval. False information they don't know what they are doing. I left and called iehp which the member services lady confirmed the office was in the wrong which I already knew since I also work with insurances. Wasted my time and I missed time at work for nothing. read more

My mother waited nine weeks for a colonoscopy that didn't end up happening because I was misinformed by the Gastro group. My mother has an aortic valve replacement and it was well known at the consultation that my mother required intravenous antibiotics for this procedure. I called nine days prior to verify that the intervenous anabiotic would be administered during this procedure. They said they do it in house and that I did not need to contact the doctor for any type of prescription. She did the two day prep and we showed up for the procedure. My mother is then informed that I was given misinformation and that they do not do that and that we needed to get in touch with her cardiologist for that prescription. They had nine days to call back and let us know that we needed to get this through the cardiologist. Then they proceed to tell her that she doesn't need this anabiotic and they can do the procedure without it, which goes against her cardiologist instructions. They even went so far as to insult my mother's cardiologist. The last colonoscopy was at Gastro group and it was also a terrible experience. Needless to say, my mother will not be returning to the Gastro group ever. They offered no alternative. They did nothing in the way of trying to resolve the issue. They treated her very poorly and when I said I was going to complain, they said go ahead. as if nothing would be done about it. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Dr. Thomas Nguyen was fantastic. He took his time with my case as I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. My experience with him in particular was great. The office was clean, sanitary and made me feel welcome. I have currently moved out of state but doctors and insurance are still in California. Called and asked several times if I could do tele-appointment. Was told no they didn't do that only to come to the office and have to sign papers for tele-appointments. They said I couldn't do it because "I needed to sign the papers." Not impressed. While waiting for a consult with the doctor, a man still suffering from Covid symptoms walked in and informed the front staff that he still had a cough from having the Corona Virus a month ago and he was not distanced from anyone. Other places have them wait in the car until they are seen. I was fearful of being exposed due to my immune system right now, so that did nothing to subside my fears. Unfortunately, I was not able to speak to any doctor who performs colonoscopies. Rather, I was seen by an NP who repeated information to me in the most mundane manner imaginable. You could tell he repeats the same the information frequently, he showed no emotion, and more importantly, no interest in what he was saying. There was another issue that I'd rather not mention, so I probably won't be getting my test done at this group. I need to see first that the people who are performing the tests are serious professionals who care about human beings. I guess I also judge a doctor's office by the vibes I get from them. I could be wrong about my vibes, but judging from the other reviews, that seems unlikely. One last note, they base their treatment of you on what insurance will cover and do not mention better alternatives to you unless you ask. Meaning, they assume that because you have one type of insurance that you are not deserving or financially able to pay for better options. When it comes to your health, there shouldn't be any assuming, and better, more expensive alternatives need to mentioned to the patient, if that will improve their outcome. Finally, be careful not to accrue a late charge for a missed appointment. There's a lot of reiteration that if you don't give 48 hours notice you'll be charged for a missed appointment. 48 hours is pretty far in advance, particularly if you get sick at the last minute. In this time of Corona Virus, I could do without the threat of a missed appointment fee hanging over my head. read more

My grandmother's first language isn't English so she has me help her with calling for appointments and sorting out insurance and things like that. I've called over eight times now and left messages, I have emailed, my mom has called and left messages, and I even went in person where they took my number and promised me a call from their manager. Terrible! 20 min. visit with Maria C. She looked at pictures of colonoscopy from 2 years prior , never bothered to look at my Very personal issue, even though I was in serious pain. Referred me to one General surgeon and he could not see me until Jan 23 ! So, I found a G.S. and needed to have my paperwork released, once again back to the Gastro Group to sign release forms on a Thursday. The following Tuesday staff tells me the will submit my paperwork via fax on Friday, have to wait for Maria to release docs? Still in pain I called my insurance same day and they called Gastro Group to get the paperwork sent, WALA No problem, ins. says they already faxed which was BS , got call from Gastro group that afternoon and the young lady said she had just sent the paperwork to My GS and I would not have to wait till Friday. I thank my Ins Co. for making this happen, just remember your just a number and there all there just to get a check, so much for CARE provided, It's $70 Co-pay that I won't get back and the service is lousy! read more

When I was in the E/R room for 4 days, Dr Richard Huang came to see me. I explained to him that what he said to me was diferent from what the intake doctor said to me and that I had a few more questions since he is a specialist and I wanted to make sure that I didnt end up in the Emergency Room again. He didnt like that. He had a very bad bed side manner while I was belly up and dying. He told me that he would come and talk to me later. He never did.
