UPDATE 2/26: As of 2/22 the system was installed. Minor bugs appear to have been worked out with good response. The overall problem here with this company remains the disconnect between their sales team and their installation crews which is not uncommon. The communication between the two seems to be a real problem as the installation crew had no background on the job before showing up. A representative visited and assessed the site over 3 months before they showed up unprepared to install it. Easy fix so hopefully they address it as they won't be able to rely on future business based solely on the lack of competition. I paid this company a deposit over a month ago and they finally made it out today 2/17/2020. They were scheduled to be here around Noon and one of them finally showed up about 2 1/2 hrs later. (Apparently his partner was being held up) Fast forward an hour later and they are gone. No notice, no knock on the door, and not a single thing has been done. Just plain ghosted without a word. Not sure how a company like this stays in business but I will hopefully update this with a better review once someone actually calls me back and explains what is going on or refunds the 2k I have sent them. 0/10 so far read more

Brief response to your answer; we have been trying to negotiate a reasonable solution and form of compromise. Initially, as mentioned, we recognized that we would not receive a complete refund since you had to make a trip to sight. Full confiscation of the deposit is absurd at the very least. We were willing to use the remainder of funds to purchase components required for install accepting that these items would not have a warranty, win win so to speak. Regrettably, I didn't do more due diligence on operational history of the Gate Doctor. This is not the way I am accustomed to doing business in my 30 years running my own. They came out and fixed my gate after a wait of two weeks. After one week, it stopped working again. They kept me on hold for 15 minutes then some "Boss" basically got on the line and treated me very rudely. I would not use their service. read more

Stay away from this company. No show appointments for repair. Very unreliable! Poor customer service! No telephone call backs as promised. Worse communication! Just a bunch of rude people! I would give 0 stars if that was an option. I first started my communication with Mark in February. They agreed to repair a poor job (wooden gate) completed my an employee of their's that they have since fired. Since speaking with the Hitchcock's their companies have been terrible to work with it. They barely respond and are very bad with communicating. They had 2 separate crews come out to my house to do a repair and both times the work was done incorrectly. It took over 2 months to get them to send these crews to my house and it still did not get done. Ultimately, I paid a different company to repair the work and they had it done within the day. I cannot waste anymore time dealing with this company. My recommendation is that you find a different company because through all my work with them, they have never lived up to what they promised. Save yourself the hassle. This is a true and honest review on The Gate Doctor and my experience directly with them despite the companies numerous attempts to blame this review on someone else. The Gate Doctor did not deliver on their promise to repair our broken gate. They have the worst customer service- never pleasant and very difficult to get scheduled. Finally built our gate and it breaks CONSTANTLY. We have dogs and built a fence and gate to keep them in the yard, and it is very stressful to have a gate that breaks down once a week. Terrible product. Then called when they were headed to our property. Arrived on time (looking very professional I might add) and quickly solved the problem. Don't quite get all these negative reviews. My experience over 10 or so years with automated gate service has been quite the opposite. It takes a while to be scheduled because they are so busy. But once scheduled, they show up when they say they will and call in advance. Their office staff is great. Price seems fair. Nice guys, who are able to fix the problem. Example: gate is controlled from inside the house by telephone on a direct line. Sometimes the magic worked. Sometimes it didn't. So I would constantly be walking down a 250 foot driveway to open it manually. Tried all kinds of solutions by the installer. Gate Doctor said on first look that the problem was we were using a cordless phone -- which the gates don't like. Switched to a cheap corded phone on a dedicated line. No problems since. Another time was told the manufacturer no longer made the circuit boards for my older-model gate -- so they were impossible to find. Gate Doctor had them on the truck. Anyway ... check them out for yourself. But my experience has been excellent. read more

Ok I've never posted a review about anyone so here we go. Gate Doctor did test my patience with taking my $1,800 + deposit down and no communication for nearly 3 weeks. When I called to get an update they said my parts had just arrived that day and would be at my house on 9/10 or 9/11. On 9/12 I called and ask why they did not show up and why no one had called me? Answer we'll call you back. Late that afternoon they did call said one of the techs grab a part for another job and would have to get another one but would be out on 9/14. On 9/14 they showed up and installed my gate and works perfectly. Thanks Gate Doctor. I'm going to give the company 3 stars for communication and 5 stars for the install. read more

We have been having a hard time with these guys. They seem way too busy and it takes a long time to get the technicians out here when we need help with their system. They seem to be confused every time they come out. Nice guys. But when security is at stake. Nice is not enough. read more

Our HOA has hired this company to repair our gates in the subdivision. The first gate was removed for 4-6 months and when it was finally reinstalled (missing parts - such as the top portion of the posts on the gate) it lasted for a matter of only a few days before it was broken again. They came out to fix it again and once again a few days later it was broken again. He keeps claiming that someone is ramming the gate. Even claimed that he was standing there when someone rammed the gate. It is very obvious that he is friends/family with someone from our HOA which is unfortunate. We have paid him quite a bit of money and still do not have a gate. Please do your homework before hiring a gate repair company. read more

This is probably the worst service provider I've ever had to deal with. Their customer service people were sarcastic and confrontational on the phone. When I asked to speak to a manager, they put another lady on the phone, who would only say she's in sales but would not give her name. Our community have a service contract with them, but they no-showed on several occasions and refused to reschedule on the phone, saying they will let us know when schedule opens back up. These guys are great. They are honest, punctual and very skilled. Always up front with their quotes and stand behind their work. They have been handling all our access control repairs & maintenance for several years at both of our storage locations. I highly recommend the Gate Doctor. read more
