Nelson's Duckpond sits in a residential area along a picturesque road. The parking was on their vast lawn and there were a few spots in the shade, which was a welcome relief during the very hot July summer. You were free to wander around the farm, partake in the U Pick Lavender option, nibble a few lavender poundcake samples at the tent, quench your thirst with some drinks, patronize the store with a ton of lavender stuff (I bought lip balm, poundcake mix, sugar, BBQ rub spices, chocolates,soap and room spray). The best part, however, according to the kid, was the duckpond in the back. The shop owner was super friendly when my son inquired as to why this place was called the "Duckpond" as he soon found out why - a turtle (forgot the name) and some ducks all share the vast huge back yard as one big happy fauna family. My son was lucky enough to be able to feed the ducks with some feed that was available for the Lavender Fest visitors. Everyone was super friendly and the grounds were very pretty. It wasn't only the lavender fields, but everything around it! I'd love to patronize their cottages next time I'm in town!

Tranquility comes to mine as the world out there gets very quiet. The nightly accommodations are extremely comfortable my wife and I sleep like babies. There is so many little details and treasures to been seen , please take time to visually experience as much you can. Their daughter Kelly runs a small gift shop on the grounds and well worth a visit there to pick up many different hand made items to take home to remember your lovely stay over. The owners are very gracious with their time and will explain where to go to explore , what to see and where are good places to eat. Sometimes, just for a quick and local getaway, we'll stay a couple of days at local inns around our…read morearea. This time we stayed at the GreenHouse Inn by the Bay in Sequim. They have several units to choose from, but we chose the "Perch", which was the largest. It didn't disappoint! We didn't even use half the space! Currently, check-in is anytime after 2:00pm. We checked ourselves in and upon entering, found a spacious "home"! Divided by a set of stairs, there is a murphy bed (sleeps 2), bath & shower, dining area and full kitchen to the left. On the dining table was a lovely note addressed to us by the hosts Craig & Michelle, accompanied by a bottle of wine and a bowl of granola bars. Then, in the refrigerator, there was a nicely adjourned box nestled with yogurts, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, a small bottle of Prosecco (for mimosas) and chocolate! We turned around and on the kitchen counter was a plate of local pastries! In the room on the other side of the stairs is another bedroom (sleeping 2-3), king bed, full bath and sitting area with coffee maker and coffee pods. Downstairs by the front door is a living room with TV, comfy couch & chair, wet bar, small fridge and washer/dryer! As everyone knows, with a home or business, there will always be times of repair and/or construction. Currently, the upper deck is being repaired, so we weren't able to take advantage of that. Instead, we took a long walk along the water, watched the eagles soar overhead, waved at people passing by and enjoyed the fresh sea air! Eating at local restaurants is always a plus and enjoying wine in the evenings watching the sun lower gently on the horizon out of sight made this trip, along with our fabulous hosts, Craig & Michelle, all worthwhile. Mark is the chef for the Williams Manor and Organic Gardens, a new bed and breakfast in Sequim. It was a delicious meal prepared with seasonal and organic ingredients, much of which Mark actually grew himself! Stuffed tomatoes, shrimp with herbed cream cheese on baguettes, blue cheese dip with crackers - everything was scrumptious and beautifully presented. And the pickled garlic scapes were so incredible, I believe I embarrassed myself. Mark's task was complicated by serving outdoors, in a garden and a somewhat limited budget. Thank you, Mark for pulling it together so well. Our group, APLD, the Association of Professional Landscape Designers was visiting the Olympic Peninsula from Seattle.
