It's stunning yet cozy with the most inviting, homey feel. The bed was out of this world comfortable and I had the best sleep of my life here. The hostess is an absolute sweetheart, kind, helpful, and thoughtful in every detail. The grounds are gorgeous and her little homemade treats are delicious. We skipped breakfast simply because we're not big morning eaters, but the spread looked wonderful. My only tiny suggestion, and it's not even worth docking a star, would be to add a lock to the guest room doors when you leave. The main building is locked and it felt completely safe, but a personal lock would give that extra layer of peace of mind. I let my guard down and felt perfectly at ease. This isn't just a stay. It's a memory. The place I turned 40. A hidden treasure I'll always hold close to my heart.

The long one-lane drive can be tricky if there is oncoming traffic (luckily we didn't encounter any). We recommend only travel during daylight. Pack essentials such as drinking water. The rooms are clean. The layout is a bit awkward. Not enough lighting to do much after dark. This can be a problem when the days are shorter. Part of the second bedroom has very low ceiling (under 5 feet), and you bump your head walking around the bed. Don't know why the bed is not placed on the opposite wall which would solve the problem.

Small and very friendly with fabulous views of the Olympic mountains and average views across the flats of dungeness. The farm has excellent cute-ness qualities: White picket fence, the building is surrounded by a large porch; inside family portraits dating back to the turn of the century, big cllaw-foot baths with Oooodles of hot water (I had 2 per day, heaven!). Two elderly intelligent friendly resident owners who live in the building behind the Inn and still run the farm. Glenda Clark (ne Chambers) explained that the farm is the oldest family run farm in Washington state. She is thinking about trying to get it 'registered', the UK equivalent of 'listed'. It is no coincidence that Clark Chambers farm is the first building on 'Clark road'. Bob Clark is a never ending source of stories about farm life and the social history of the Dungeness region of the Olympic peninsular. A chirpy cheerful couple, they remind me of cockneys, with a different accent. I spent 2 nights with them. During one day I was able to explore Dungeness, During another I drove passed lake crescent and visited beaches on the West coast, Ruby, Beach 4 and Kalaloch. The B & B is n ot central for the Olympic peninsular but it does afford easy access. You can walk to Dungeness spit in less than a mile. Bob and Glenda talked about previous guests who liked to run, or cycle. The flat lands around dungeness are ideal for people who like these sort of activities. I'll definitely be going back in the summer...

Plenty of fuel for our hike to the Dungeness spit lighthouse. Sara, one of the owners, even went out of her way to find tide information for the spit. It felt like staying at your own family's farm house. Great location, close to lavender farms, Dungeness recreation area, and 10 min away from town. Very peaceful. In the evening we watched two bald eagles on the barn and sat on the porch. Doesn't get much better than that!

Our family of four stayed at the "Whimsical Bear" cottage for four nights while venturing through the Olympic National Park and it was a wonderful home away from home. It was so cozy, fully furnished with everything we could need and had cute bear décor in each room. KITCHEN: It came stocked with all the dishes, utensils and cookware that we could possibly need. Other than whipping up some light breakfasts, we actually didn't cook much. The cabinet had some random cans of food and spices. The owners also kindly left a basket of complimentary snacks on the counter and a few sodas and juices in the fridge. BATHROOM: One bathroom to share among four of us was a little tough, but we made it work! There was one shower and a whirlpool tub. Unfortunately, there was no separation between the toilet & sink and the rest of the bathroom, so really only one person could use it at a time. BEDROOM: The single king bed was soft and comfortable, but the room got pretty hot at night. It had a small closet and a dresser for storage. The only way to enter the bathroom is through the bedroom, so this could be disruptive for lighter sleepers. LIVING SPACE: The sofa folded out into a bed which I actually preferred sleeping in. There was a fireplace and satellite TV. We had a tough time figuring out the TV since there were two different remotes. We called the owners for instructions which they graciously provided, but it would have been helpful if they left some directions in the cottage for reference. Other notes: + You cannot wear shoes in the house, so they had a basket with pairs of socks for each person near the door. The socks were really thick and too hot for the summer, so I just wore my own. I would have preferred either thinner, breathable socks or some cheap slippers. + After we added some breakfast items, vegetables and fruit into the fridge, it took several hours to cool down below 40 degrees F. According to the owners, this is normal. + If you walk all the way down the road, you'll find the owners' home and lovely garden. We met Chris and he spoke with us for a few minutes, let us throw some food to the fish in the pond and also gave us slices of bread to feed their deer. We didn't see any deer at first, but after calling out to them ("Helloooo deer! Deer!"), they came running out. So cute and gentle! Our stay at A Hidden Haven was really a special one. I definitely recommend it if you're visiting the Olympic National Park! 4.75 stars.

It's valentines and my partner and I were searching for a romantic getaway apart from the phoney overpriced dinner reservations and other typical "spend money for love" experiences that Patagonia wearing Seattle-ites expect on this holiday. However, we did want to do something special. For us that meant a trip to the peninsula, complete with day hikes and a few nights of camping (which is our typical three day weekend go-to). In this case we wanted to find a motel with a kitchenette to have a romantic dinner/night in. After failed attempts of booking the goatel (on 101 and hwy 20) we landed in PA at sportsmen. The brother and sister who checked us in were lovely. The room was a perfect size for two people, with a glorious little kitchen and full size fridge. It's on the east side of the city with a long walk downtown, but we weren't interested in spending a night in town anyways. The price was cheap (off season) and the room was clean with a nice firm mattress and even a TV if you're into that! We will definitely remember this spot and revisit it in the future!

This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and I fear no other B&B will compare. The property was stunning with both mountain and ocean views, lush lavender fields and a cidery all on the property. I was just expecting a pastry and a coffee for breakfast but the full breakfast rivaled some top tier restaurants. Ginger and Scott are ideal hosts, they were full of knowledge and provide great recommendations. The comfort, ambiance, views, and hospitality make Salt and Cedar a destination all on its own. I look forward to retuning to the property to just relax and unwind! The true highlight of our Pacific Northwest trip!

Elwha Ranch's pictures looked far better than those of others in the same or lower price ranges, and I was very interested in the cabin. Dealing with the owners was a joy, and also like being in the 1950's (in a very good way). She was genuinely concerned about about saving us money, and talked me out of paying extra for breakfast ("you've got a frying pan, gas is expensive, people need to save money these days.") When I called she was very careful to not make me wait in case I was paying for long distance. The ranch has incredible views of the glacier and mountains of Olympic Peninsula National Park. It is literally a ranch, with horses and dogs, just a few miles out of town. This is a great place to stay if you are visiting the park, or a Twilight fan heading to Forks.
