Takeout Buddha bowl with feta. So darn delicious!

This place is a true gem. The cheese selection, bowls, and staff are amazing. Please give them all the business you can so they stick around!

Ordered a charcuterie board to-go for a cookout and was beyond impressed. It was easy to order and pick up, and the staff took the time to explain the variety of cheeses and meats. Not to mention the board itself was beautiful. I will need to go back to enjoy their shop, and try their menu of items!

I absolutely love Belmont and rave about it to people, it's kind of become a destination to me…read morewhenever I'm in the area. Their selection of prepared foods, including vegetarian friendly ones, is massive, and I often get a bunch on "lazy weeks" and they are such a big help with meal planning. Their fresh desserts and breads are amazing, I always get their mini bagels. I shopped the last hour of the day on a weekday most recently to avoid the usual crowds since the aisles can get tight, but almost everything was gone except cinnamon Raisin bagels (for obviously reasons lol). I was sad to see the selection so low, but I guess these are hot items and sell out earlier in the day?? I had no idea but will plan around this next time. They have a lot of interesting dairy free and vegan options in the dairy section that I don't see elsewhere, or that I saw at Belmont years before I saw in other places - they are ahead of the times! Some items here will run you $1-$2 more than they would in another grocery store though, so in the future I think I will stick to specialty items I can only find here, and will drag myself to another grocery store for my basics, because the upcharge here is a little nuts. A frozen bag of broccoli florets was at least twice if not triple the price it would be at another store, and it was a basic brand I'd never even heard of. I do love their natural self care section and what I'll call the "items perfect for gifting" section as soon as you walk through the door - I always have to smell the local lavender. There are a ton of unique sections and offerings here that make the upcharge on other items kindaaaaa worth it (if I don't think about it for too long). All in all I'm a huge fan and will continue to look forward to future trips here! A couple small areas of improvement though: - Something about their prepared foods makes them seem to go bad pretty quickly, like within 3 days - the oils just go rancid on certain things, or they start tasting off. I know prepared items don't have a long shelf life in general, and I don't know what it is about these specifically, but they seem to turn quicker than options from other places - Service is typically pretty helpful when checking out, but on my last visit, the cashier and bagger didn't even greet me and were too busy talking and laughing with each other to even really acknowledge me. I got home and realized the instant coupon on something I bought wasn't even scanned, which was annoying because that was a big reason I bought that item specifically, and it's RIGHT THERE - isn't that cashier 101 to scan the instant coupons??

Cannot say enough about Belmont Market. My husband even loves this place. They have everything you…read moreneed, nicely stocked, and clean. All of the food and produce is fresh. You'd never know it was once a Newport Creamery (super casual diner-style eatery), because the owners have done an excellent job of renovating the space into an Italian-inspired fresh cafe. Of course, the house Mozzarella is a standout, and they do provide samples upon request. They also have an impressive array of imported cheese and meats, perfect for crafting a memorable charcuterie board. I love their Espresso brewed fresh to order with pistachio milk (!! Where else have you ever seen pistachio milk?!), and the Frittata with potato and onion is my favorite for a light brunch moment. Make sure you ask them to heat it up for you! Ample seating inside and outside at adorable cafe tables round out the Italian street cafe vibe, and Mozz is not to be missed for your Newport adventure!

I got a canolli and sfogliatella.. It's the only spot I found in town with Italian treats you can pickup and go. The canolli was really tasty but it was very small and very expensive. The sfogliatella matched the taste and quality of those I had in Napoli, Italy. It was expensive though. The spot has a pleasant sitting area that's functional but not necessarily cute to sit in and relax. Not much to look at inside. Overall a spot to get your Italian fix if you feel like paying the prices. It does have a great selection of cheeses, meats, and Italian goods which admittedly I didn't try. It's a slightly expensive spot even for Newport which is already an expensive town to eat in.

Crab Cakes were mediocre and certainly not Baltimore style good. Fruti Di Mare cold salad was great because it consisted of large scallops, Shrimp & tender calamari rings in a savory vinegar dressing with herbs. Check out my photos. The market had several displays of Thai and Asian bottled sauces plus a nice variety of hot sauces. I bough a box of Unami broth packets and a Hot Sauce with Tequila and Lime. The moment you walk in to this shop you are very much aware that they specialize in high quality cheese. It's stinky, y'all. But in the best way! There are samples everywhere (grab a toothpick thooo!) and the cheeses range in prices. I'd think this is the perfect spot to hit up before a dinner party or for a killer hostess gift. They also have tons of artisanal pastas, crackers, butter, etc. David helped us as we were actually in search of a really good loaf of sourdough. He explained that their loaves come from a bakery in NY that has used the same starter for over 100 years. They get the loaves parbaked so they can bake them fresh in the shop. You can opt for a full loaf or half, OR get it parbaked and finish it at your house for a fresh baked loaf at home! If I lived within 30 minutes of this shop, I'd be back for the bread alone. The staff is super knowledgeable and seemed eager to help explain any specialty item (with tastings!). This will be a MUST next time I'm in RI!

Imagine a cheese store in a Hallmark Christmas village ... and there you have Wickford Cheese & Sundry. When you are buying a cheese which costs $50/lb. you want to taste it. No problems here! They have a lot of little cut samples of cheeses waiting for you to try. And if there is a cheese that doesn't have a sample ready, they'll gladly give you a piece to make up your mind. The selection is mind-boggling. Browsing through and tasting 9 different Goudas can make even the most fastidious cheese lover overwhelmed. Luckily, the owners are happy to make recommendations and bring you one step closer to cheese Xanadu. There are plenty of US, French, Italian and Spanish cheeses ... the only bummer about this place is that there are very few British cheeses to buy. Having lolived in the UK, I do tend to gravitate towards those. I think in the entire store they had maybe 2 - 3 British cheeses. Having said that, it's one of my favourite spots to visit and I usually walk away with a bag of interesting and fun picks for entertaining. You can ask them to pick out a perfect cheese plate for you and it's all set. They just ask how much you want and get it ready for you. They also have a few varieties of cured meats etc. for purchase and a couple to sample. Overall, this is a fun spot to visit and for cheese lovers, it will be an incredibly immersive and friendly experience. I won't knock Wholefoods because they actually have a great cheese section ... when staffed ... but this brings cheese tasting and bespoke experience to the next level. I very much encourage you to check this cute little shop out and will say that they also sell the best baguettes I've ever had outside of Paris.
