I use to work there for just a short period of time the employees go out back of the building and smoke and then once they come back in they don't wash their hands at all and not even that there who wants anybody to make there food without any food protection or gloves at all it's bad I couldn't do it and handle s people s food they way this restaurant does do it so don't go there read more

Even with three large groups we were spoiled with service by everyone including the owner who checked in on us frequently. Beer was ice cold with great draft prices. Fish dip was so good we needed extra crackers to get every bit. Steak sandwich was messy but soooo good. Coconut shrimp dinner was more than enough so we took some home. Nestled among thousands of acres of orange groves this is old Florida before the mouse invaded. Folks come here to get out of the heat, have a cold one and some great food. Nobody is talking about the congestion on "4" or losing their car in a thousand-acre parking lot etc. Instead the conversation is about the food and friends. Nice. Where- Although technically in Sebring it's nothing like Route 27 but about eight or nine miles from it. It's easy to find but off the beaten path. Atmosphere- It's nothing from the outside and you could drive by it without a thought. The inside is old Florida kitsch and spotless. The full bar on one side sits about fifteen along with a few tables and a juke box. The restaurant side has about a dozen tables. There is a screened in porch. Customer Service- The waitresses or bartender are likely to call you Sweetie or Honey Bunch or Sugar. Don't be offended as you are in their place and you know they are somebody's mother! Food- Almost everything is homemade comfort food. As the names suggests, there is plenty of gator if that's what floats your boat. The specialty of the house is Mangrove steak. No, they are not grilling a slice of a tree thank God! They use a prime rib cut of meat and grill it on a charcoal grill. The petite size goes for $18 and the regular for $24. Each comes with two homemade sides and a warm roll. Regulars have figured out that the "Petite" is the best value and more than enough for most folks. See my picture. Literally, I could cut it with my fork and it was bursting with flavor. I could taste the grill with every bite. The mashed potatoes were super creamy and decadent with the homemade gravy. Little gem in the middle of nowhere with a very interesting menu. We tried the gator po boy and it was tender and plentiful. The tasty fries were a bonus. The servers were awesome, friendly and attentive. They had a screened outdoor area and we were able to sit outside by ourselves. Huge for our comfort level. The only reason it was not five star is that the home made dessert was not very good. The chocolate cake was dry and the orange icing was way too sweet. Have only eaten there once. Got take out. While they forgot part of my order, the food was so good, it was easy to forgive them. Saw them wheeling around a trolly filled with beautifully marbled steaks. That was enough to make me want to eat there on my birthday. Stopped for an early dinner and the food was absolutely delicious. Homemade blue cheese dressing was some of the best we have ever had. This place has terrible service and makes colored people feel uncomfortable!!! We went last night. The place was slightly packed but my wife and I seen 4 open tables so we figured it wouldn't take long to be seated. Well we stood at the door for 10-12 mins and no one even acknowledged we were there. The sad part is there was a girl at the register right beside us just giving us a snotty look. Idk if it was because we are Hispanics as the place was all white people. I never let that bother me or feel that way but when we walked out another Hispanic couple was outside getting in their car and told us they never got seated either and they also were feeling uncomfortable! I took a friend out for Catfish which is Gator Shack's Thursday special. The waitress offered whole catfish or nuggets ( which she then explained were "actually Swai, Asian catfish"). We opted for whole from Lake Okeechobee (instead of Vietnamese Swai), which turned out to be over-fried fingerlings. The coleslaw tasted bad, past its date, and over all the worst $38 I ever spent. My little Kia was dwarfed by their pickups. The atmosphere is classic old Florida divey style, perfected by Daisy Duke waitresses. Can beat the $1.75 drafts during happy hour. Diner style salad comes complete with dressing prepackaged in a small container, and a dinner roll. The gator bites were plenty on the entree and a good old baked tator and canned green beans to join it with butter and sour cream! We've passed The Gator Shack many times on our monthly trips to Okeechobee and have always wanted to stop in so today is the day! We googled it and it said the kitchen was closed on Sunday's so we called to make sure and HAPPILY it was OPEN. The staff was very welcoming and happy to serve us. The atmosphere is a laid back biker bar with a family vibe. The food was great. Had burgers that were big and juicy. There was a mix up in our sides but the food was delicious. One of our guests ordered the pulled pork sandwich and loved it. The place was clean and welcoming. Well be stopping again! read more

We were visiting friends in Sebring and wanted something local. This place is a gem. Nice menu and presentation of food. We ordered fried mushrooms and tater skins to start. They were very nice! The waitress was new (We found out later) and noted the bartender standing behind her to silently support her taking out order. It was non invasive and showed good leadership. Great service. Great margaritas. Great onion rings. Great fish tacos. Great fish fingers. Everything was fresh and tasty. Polite staff. Take a trip to try out this place. read more

I was part of a multi-day event at Sebring International Raceway, and I was staying at the hotel on the track's premises. There's not much in the surrounding area, so I had to Google the crap out of Sebring to find this place. I just wanted something conveniently close and not very expensive, so this seemed to fit the bill. I ordered the gator dinner, which came with fried gator and 2 sides. The gator had a crunchy batter and was seasoned well with enough salt and spices to give it a bold flavor. It wasn't overcooked and had a tender springy texture. You can really tell that the sides were made from scratch. The mashed potatoes were delicious with the creamy gravy. There were still some small potato morsels scattered around which is a sign that it was mashed by hand - the good old fashioned way. I was expecting the green beans to be canned or cooked til they were just mush, but they were actually really good. They were cooked perfectly tender-crisp and simply seasoned with salt and pepper to maintain their natural flavor. They also tasted great with the gravy. This won't be the last time I'll be in Sebring, so I'll be sure to come back. read more

Not much for handicapped parking, I think that there are 2 places (I could be wrong on that) , but either way, a wheelchair, or a walker, would have trouble navigating the parking lot.
