Sometimes you just need a fish fix. Captain D's has good food and the staff is always friendly.

I bought their fried green tomatoes. I had them at the watering hole and they were delicious so I thought I'd try them. It was like a ball of Greece. I took him back for a refund. They won't give me my money back because I didn't bring it back the same day. I told him that I work the next day. They said I had to bring it back the same day, which was not on the receipt they left me standing there for over 15 mins I'll never go back there again. Great customer service. read more

I had not been here in a while and decide to stop in the drive thru for a quick fish, shrimp and fries. wrong!! Nothing quick about it. 7:20 ordered. 7:45 got to the payment window and told to pull up. 8:05 went in and asked for my order. Was asked what I ordered. A few minutes later, I received my order. They gave me an extra hush puppy and a couple extra fries. The shrimp was hard and over fried and the fish was so so. The fries and hush puppies were good. Fast it was not. Inside was not busy, so I have no idea what the hold was. Will be a while before I try again. read more

So, I buy these all the time. Normally, they are great for fast food Lobster Rolls. This time, they were edible but lacking. Normally, the rolls are not smashed or stale. Normally, they look as tasty as they are. Not this time. The mix of lobster could even be put into the roll, they were to smashed. My MD said my cholesterol was awesome, so I said, "What the hell!" and stopped here! Atmosphere- I was there at about 5 PM and the place was bustling. This location also has a drive-thru and it was also hopping. Inside was clean and bright and well maintained. Customer Service- I couldn't have asked for much more! I waited in line maybe two minutes. The girl behind the register was wonderful and very efficient. She greeted me with a big smile and I was done in maybe a minute. I ordered the chicken platter and with drink it was just under $10. This is one of those fast-casual places where they give you a number and your order is brought to your table. You need to grab your own utensils, napkins, dipping sauces, etc. from the mostly typical table. What wasn't typical was how spotless it was and heavy metal silverware as an option. That was a surprise! My food arrived in about two minutes. My server introduced herself by name and asked if I needed anything else? Another big smile. So far, I was very impressed! Food- And here is where my experience went downhill. As soon as I saw my plate I knew there were going to be problems. I tried one of the two hushpuppies and they were great. Piping hot and flavorful and moist on the inside. That was the highlight of my meal. The coleslaw was boring. It had no sparkle or zest it was just there. It was just chopped something or other in dressing. I was unimpressed. My fries were undercooked, lacking in seasoning and barely warm. I called the young lady over that had served them and asked if she could replace them. The reply was an instant, "Of course," My replacements were piping hot, under seasoned and boring. They were a complete waste of space. It's interesting that three other tables of four also asked for replacement fries. It would be great if they could get it right the first time! My chicken should have been the star of the show, but it was anything but that. The pieces had an extremely thick hard batter that was devoid of seasoning once again. The chicken inside was hot and moist but the batter armor spoiled everything. What a culinary disaster. The dipping sauces helped to save a very mediocre meal. Conclusion- There were a lot of folks here that seemed to be happily chowing down their meal. Maybe their model is to save everything with their dipping sauces. In any case the food was so lacking in seasoning that I won't be back. This location was surrounded with other restaurants with much better food. I had a long black hair in my food Showed the lady at the counter and she threw our receipt away for some reason then pulled a $5 out of her pocket and handed it to us ‍ the meal was $8. Weird just weird. Absolutely disgusting. We were able to pull up the receipt on the phone and get our money back and gave the young lady her $5 back but it was just an odd experience. Food was extremely greasy and had hair in it. Just not a good experience. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the staff was really nice but other than that it was a complete disappointment and I'm extremely grossed out having had someone's hair in my mouth. read more

My husband and I went to Captain D's for Senior Day. I ordered French fries as my side and made sure to ask for them to be hot. When my meal came the fries were cold. I asked for fresh fries that are hot. I was brought out fries as cold as the first batch. I was told these were fresh. I told the gentleman I could not eat them and immediately thru them in the garbage. There was no attempt to correct this mistake either with fresh fries or a different side. The restaurant was empty with only a few people there. This was unacceptable and with it being senior day I feel as if it was because of my age the workers felt I would not say or do anything. I am as important as any customer Senior Day or any other day. This could have been easily fixed with a new batch of fries. Do better Captain D's. Every customer is important no matter what day of the week or how busy the restaurant is. I would warn anyone going to Captain D's to take a younger person with you and do not order fries. read more

We have been known to drive 100 mile round trip to eat here. After you've eaten properly prepared Captain D's fish there is no comparison. Don't get me wrong, there are other good fish places, but when you get the cravings for D's fish nothing else works. I'm not getting into the menu, get you some fish and experiment with the other items, all the sides are great too! Another reason we always come back....employees here seem to enjoy doing their job. They treat you well, and keep the place nice and clean. They have some long time employees, which you don't see often in this type environment. read more

I love Captain D's. The secret here is to order from the sides menu. And remember- they are all about the seafood. The hush puppies- get a six pack. They are light and fluffy and y'all will be drawlin y'alls words and feeling like a southern belle or beau in no time. Pieces of fish - no way to go wrong here. Light, crispy, flaky fish that doesn't need any dipping sauces, the flavor is inside. Butterfly shrimp. Again, get a six pack. They don't need any sauce, but, heck, go for the cocktail sauce anyway, just 'cause. And if you think you can eat more, get a pair of crab cakes. No dipping sauce needed here either. Lovely. Firm, not mushy, crisp edges, identifiable vegetables inside. Mmm mmm. I sure wish we had a Captain D's near my home. Alas. My neighbors think hush puppies are shoes. While I was near here caring for my mother she asked if I would go and pick her up some Captain D's. She said it would give her a few meals since I would be leaving soon. My wait was over 15 minutes at the drive through with only two cars in front of me, while I don't mind waiting if they were busy I don't consider two cars busy. Food was ok though. read more

I found this to be a good quick stop to end hunger pangs on the way to Orlando. The four fish strips with double cole sale was $7.89. The strips were about 2 Oz each so that's not bad for a half pound portion of battered fish. The Cole slaw was chopped rather than shredded and had a savory creamy texture. The jalapeño bites were 10 for $1.99. Some honey sticks for $1.99 I wouldn't recommend. It was short staffed but the food still came out quickly. The cashier on Monday was very pleasant. read more

The fish and hush puppies were good as they usually are. The green beans are consistently served barely lukewarm, so I asked for them to be served hot. Didn't make any difference, they were still served lukewarm. Baked potato was lukewarm as well. Couldn't even melt butter on it. From now on I'll order for carry out so I can take it home to heat. Everything would have been great if it was served hot. I don't understand what's so difficult in serving food hot. The green beans have had this issue for years. read more

Im not really a "Fast Foodie". Maybe 3 times a year I spurge and pull into a drive thru. I have to say it was shock and awe when I tried out Captain D's! It appeared clean, the staff was professional and focused on their job (your order) as opposed to airing each others personal dramas to anyone within hearing range. The food was actually kinda good and seemed somewhat healthy. It wasn't dripping with grease and although Im sure it was frozen from some giant storage facility somewhere, it seemed to be cooked on a real grill to order and not cooked six months ago then shipped to the location and just steamed to warm it to temp. In a hurry I would choose Captain D's over any of those other GROSS fast food places. read more

This place has completely lost my business. At one time they had decent food and decent service. Now, however comma you sit in the Drive-Thru line for 30 minutes like I just did to get a cashier that can't hear you and then yells at you when they get the order wrong. This is happened to me the last two times I've been here. I'm done I can get better food somewhere else read more

I love this place. I used to eat here in Palm Beach County back when I was a kid. Eating here recently really took me back to the days of great sea food. I will definitely stop in at Captain D's again on my next trip down south. read more

Arthur, the general manager came out to all the tables and checked on customers, making sure they enjoyed their meals and asked if they needed anything. The food was hot and fresh and out very quickly. I definately will come back here! Next weekend my neighbors and my family are coming back!! read more

The place was total confusion. The employees were yelling orders back and forth. There were two customers whom went through the drive-thru in complaining their orders were not right. The cashier when asked a question said look at the menu. The guy cooking (idiot) was arguing with the staff about orders - which he obviously messed up. People standing there waiting on their food and the employees yelling and arguing. This is the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Then to top it off when we got home our order was messed up, when the cashier handed it to us and went over it. Total idiots and not cheap - it is no wonders why they keep putting coupons in the paper to get new victims into the place, anyone there avoids it. read more
