The Georgianne Inn looks absolutely darling from the outside, which it is. Their are a lot of cute inviting sitting areas throughout, a heated pool, laundry machines available on-site, close walking distance to the beach, and a lot of great restaurants within walking distance. We reserved Suite #5 for one night. The room was freezing and there was a horrible smell (I thought it was sewer gas and usually running water solves that- it didn't). We had the heat cranked as high as we could to warm up, but had to have the windows open due to the smell- not a good situation. They offer a variety of rooms studio, 1,2 & 3 bedroom options. Plenty of free parking available. You do have to check in at a different location, it is not far away, but it is a hassle. My biggest regret is that we didn't check out immediately and find a new place. read more

It took almost 24 hours for the heater to get the room warm, even after the maintenance man looked at it. To turn the TV on and control the volume, you had to push a tiny button on the TV. The only thing the remote did was control the channels. No locks on door except button on doorknob. Looked like there was a chain lock at one time, but no more. I did not feel safe! No lighting in parking area...very dark. Smelled marijuana all over place. However, the beds were comfortable with large assortment of pillows. Nicely furnished with cute furniture. Large bathroom with walk in shower. Note: You have to go to the Desota Inn to check in and out. There is no office at this location! read more

Upon arriving, the electronic lock didn't work. The wifi in the room didn't work. The ice machine didn't work. There was no curtains on the window, only broken blinds. The hall lights lit your room all night. The room REEKED of fabuloso. The hot water in the shower was warm at best. There was 2 towels amd 2 rags for a week stay. We called and was told thats all the towels and rags you get. The ONLY bright spot to this place was the maintenance guy who happened to be there to try and assist us. We rented the 3 bedroom apartment for a girl's trip. We had a great time. The exterior is adorable. Happy yellow looks so welcoming. The long brick driveway adds to it's charm. There is a large deck for gathering with coffee or wine. There are several other outdoor sitting areas around the property also. The interior is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is huge and very convenient. The two bathrooms and laundry are great. The bedrooms are spaced out nicely with one room that has bunk beds. There are TV's in each bedroom and the living room also. Tons of windows wrap around the corner unit so it's bright and cheerful. Word of warning: There is a real cleanliness issue. I re-cleaned the entire unit because it was in serious need. To feel comfortable during a pandemic, management needs to address this immediately. We were also told that the unit is going to get a makeover soon. I feel once the unit is updated and they address cleaning protocols, it will be a great vacation spot. Situated just off the beach, we walked over for sunrises each morning. The location is fantastic for dining as there are a couple of great spots just across the street. The hotel is very cute and a great location close to the beach and restaurants. Our room was spacious, clean and neat. renovated and beautiful on the outside! inside it looks and smells like an old abandoned building that hasn't been touched or lived in for 50 years! toilet had black ring in it, rugs have not been swept or even shook out ever maybe! everything in disgusting sitting area was plugged into drop cords all to one outlet! fridge was not wiped out and I would never walk barefoot on the disgusting carpet. thank goodness for Kirby at the Desoto Inn where you check in! she went far and above to find us another suitable place to stay with a patient smile on her face the whole way! thank you Kirby! read more

Seems a lot has changed since the most recent reviews. Despite what was told over the phone, it does NOT overlook the beach, you can't see the beach, or even be considered close to the beach...it IS in the same zip code as the beach. Checking in was a bit hectic and involved driving back and forth between the Inn and the office a mile down the road. The young lady at the Desoto office makes it quite clear with her body language and constant sighing and "I don't know" answers that her career choice in public service was misguided. The room could initially be thought of as quaint, but then you see that nothing actually matches and the furniture looks as if it were obtained through a storage shed auction. The entire suite is either flat off-white paint or flat light blue. the fixtures run from brushed bronze to brushed nickel to plastic...or whatever Dollar General had on sale at the time. The fecal brown carpet clashes perfectly with the stressed white dresser and antique white sofa with coffee stains. The walls also have the stressed look with an abundance of scratches, scars, and scuff marks. The bedroom drapes look suspiciously like Motel 8 shower curtains. The thermostat, which is actually a remote that is stuck in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, is conveniently nailed to the wall for ease of use. If it gets too warm they offer a 20 year old box fan missing one leg, and it does blow air. At first, you will wonder why a little tiny TV is in the living room and the large TV is on a chest of drawers in the bedroom...but you quickly discover that it is to hide a large repair they did on the bedroom wall. The toilet from the 1950's is small and chipped, but be on alert...every time you flush it the handle falls off and you have to catch it before it falls into the bowl. Also plan ahead as the toilet paper is on a portable holder that is on the other side of the door...it's quite a stretch. The shower has two settings...drip or drool, it stays in drip when not in use. The shower faucet looks like it too will fall off, but it doesn't..it's just that it is installed improperly and the entire fixture moves when you turn the handle. In the kitchen the RV sized fridge helps keep you on your diet as you can't put very much in it. The sink faucet handle also falls off when used, but it just falls into the sink, so no worries. The coffee pot is state of the art in the 1980's will make some brown sludge when forced to. You are provided with 5 styrofoam plates and about 10 styrofoam cups to get you through. We only stayed 3 nights, so with a little washing, they lasted. The strong disinfectant odor you smell constantly is to cover the mold smell throughout the suite. The gnats that attack any food or water you leave out for more than 5 seconds are fun to watch...seems they love playing a game of seeing if they can fly up your nose while you're breathing or into your mouth when sleeping. It seems our suite is their favorite hang out. The pool is actually newer looking and not bad. Between the party house on the other side of the fence and the construction going on next door, it requires medication to relax to the sound of 15 teenagers yelling over their $5000 music system and the power saws and hammers. Another interesting incident is that they decided to cut the water off to do a pipe repair...but decided against letting any of the guests know beforehand. Was great when we came in and wanted to shower before going to dinner only to discover that the water was out with no idea when it would be turned back on. When I called the extremely bored lady at the Desoto office, she confirmed that the water was off...very helpful. When asked if it ever occurred to her to notify the guests, her response was "aaahhhhhhh....noooooo". At least she is honest. All in all, if you are looking for a stay in a place that is a cross between section 8 housing and a Greyhound bus terminal, this place is for you. If you are one of those picky guests that expect everything to work, to look decent, and to have running water, then you may want to keep looking. I would like to give a special shout out to Annette and the rest of the house cleaning crew. She went above and beyond to make the suite as presentable as possible, but was only allowed to do so much. Her customer service skills are excellent and the young lady at the front office would do well to take some pointers from her. Thank you Annette for your efforts and great attitude. read more

Wow! That was my reaction upon walking in. We stayed in Suite 1, the three bed two bathroom. The kitchen was AWESOME! The laundry room, a lifesaver! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need down to a cork screws and scissors! The beds were cozy and comfortable! Personally I loved the decor. It was a hodge podge of things which just screams vintage beach cottage! I may have been the only one who liked the purple but only cause everyone else thought blue/green would have been gorgeous. We stayed with 2 babies and 6 adults. We never felt like we were on top of one another. The bunk beds while not the best for our particular situation are a great added touch for families traveling with bigger kids. My recommendations that would make this 5 star: Our carpet was a little dirty. I know all about Savannah's infamous powder fine black dirt and the fact that we are on a beach, so I get it. It wasn't gross it just needs replacing. More stocks of essentials. While the dish soap in the kitchen was great and complimentary sample of laundry soap and dryer sheets was great, extra toilet paper and trash bags would have been a huge help! We ended up having to go to IGA to buy tp because two rolls with 3 women and 3 men just didn't last that long! LoL Also, y'all need a welcome book for each room with a little bit of history on the house. Maybe a little welcome basket with a couple bottle waters and a praline or two. Thought I can see how folks may throw down over just 2 pralines! All in all I LOVE this place. I literally can not wait to get back! The upgrades from last year were simply amazing! The pool is tiny but perfect and I love that it's salt water! Just a great great place! Short, perfect little walk to the beach! You can hear the waves! read more

The purpose of this trip, it was my birthday(9/12). When we arrived to check in(9/11) to Suite 3, I was told that I booked Suite2! I said to the lady at the front desk, Susan, no I booked suite 3. She proceeded to say that the people who were supposed to check out of Suite 3 on 9/11 decided to extend their stay another night, but we booked that room 2 MONTHS in advance(July 17th) What should have happened is the people in 3 should have been moved over to 2 for their"extended stay" , because we had RESERVATIONS BOOKED to stay in Suite 3. They should have been told that someone was checking into 3 and they will need to be moved to Suite 2. We purposely booked this suite(3) because I wanted to stay in that room for my birthday. We've stayed here multiple times and this Suite is our favorite one. I was told by Susan that Suite 2 was exactly like 3. To our MAJOR disappointment when we got inside the room it was no where NEAR as big or nice and clean as Suite 3. When we called to complain and that they need to move the people in Suite 3, Susan said the manager made the decision and to take it up with them. It was like we were such an inconvenience to her, even though we're the paying customers here! To add insult to injury she hung up in my fiancés face. Never have we ever been so disrespected by any hotel. I mean she blatantly hung up on him, no warning. I shortly received a call from Travis who was POLITE and courteous! He offered to give us half off the first night and then have us moved over to 3 for second night of our stay. He ALSO said he was the manager that he definitely did not make that decision to move us to Suite 2. That confirmed to us that Susan flat out lied when she said the manager made the decision. He even goes onto say he didn't understand why they didn't make the people go to Suite 2! The next day Monday (9/12-My birthday!) The cleaning kid shows up with an attitude already because he had to clean the room we were in, in addition to Suite 3. As if it were our fault that he had to do his job. God forbid. It was like we were an inconvenience. He was so nasty & rude that I told him to just forget about it because I'm obviously an inconvenience to him and making his job so hard. We also asked him for extra paper towels because we barely had any when we got there on the first day(Sunday). He never brought them to us so we had no paper towels to use for the rest of our stay. It felt like we were a bother to them. My fiancé and I have stayed at this property tons of times and have never been treated so poorly and unfairly. It was my birthday so this trip was booked in my name. If you look up my fiancé 's name (Nick Lembcke) you'll see where he's booked Georgianne Inn for us MULTIPLE times . Sadly enough this was our last time at this property and I'm spreading the word to everyone I know to warn them. I'm even filing a BBB complaint against them as well, because otherwise they'll continue to do this to other people and treat them terribly, and continue to get away with it!!!Susan and the cleaning kid needs SERIOUS Customer service training. If you're not happy where you are then go find another line of work. They're both in the wrong line of business. Customer service and hospitalilty industry go hand & hand. Customers are the ones who keep the lights on. I will never ever recommend the Georgianne Inn to anyone again, because I don't want them to have to go through what we went through.... AGAIN this was for my birthday & I cried for a minute but I refused to let it get me down. However every time we walked back in the room I would get upset all over again. Take away: You're not guaranteed to stay in the room you booked when booking the Georgianne Inn and they have no problem brushing you off about it either. read more

I went there with my family of 5 about two weeks ago. Had a great experience and the innkeeper Nick was fabulous. He was informative and very helpful. He offered us access to his vast collection of movies that we could've taken back to our room. We stayed in a two bedroom unit. The 2 bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The two bathrooms were also great in the living room was also very comfortable. There's nothing that I can say. The wraparound porch in the back was great for us to lounge on with a drink. read more

So, I'm not sure about this "Nick" guy all the other reviews keep talking about. (Addendum- this place used to be a family owned business until early 2018) When we arrived (admittedly at 9pm) we were informed by a sign on the wall that we had to go to the DeSoto Hotel to check in, which was a bit of a pain and should have been explained earlier to avoid confusion. Their checkin process certainly is not streamlined. They "lost" my reservation and it took a while to "find" it. I don't know if the DeSoto recently purchased the property or what, but I did see several people doing remodeling on some of the rooms wearing DeSoto shirts. There were a few issues with the room (one of the exterior door handles is wobbly, the safes didn't work), but nothing major. If there had been an issue though, there was no one onsite (that I knew of) and just a "call this number if there are problems". No one comes to clean the rooms, change the towels, or refresh the amenities. (This actually lead to a downgrade from 4 to 3 stars. We got locked out of the room. Fortunately, we found someone who then had to the main hotel to get keys. The keys they got? Didn't work. I ended up having to "creatively enter" my own room.) All that being said, we loved this place. Quiet. A nice pool. Close access to the beach. We had a nice porch for lounging on and relaxing (though not every room has that it seems). (Final addendum- I would still recommend this place, but it obviously has some kinks to work out from issues stemming from it being a satellite property. I don't mind the "you're on your own" air-bnb experience, but I mind paying hotel prices for it. ) We had the 2 bedrooms and it was quite spacious with a full kitchen and a living room. The kitchen was nice so we could eat in for breakfast/lunch. (Highly recommended as there are not many interesting food options) read more

We had given up on Tybee and its plethora of run-of-the-mill hotels, restaurants and generally blah places until a work trip brought me back and my husband found this little gem for us! What an awesome place to stay...close to the beach, the pier, fishing, restaurants,...the location is impeccable. The owner is beyond friendly and takes the time to show everyone around and explain how everything works. The place itself is quaint, clean, and had everything we needed including complimentary bikes, boogie boards, and other beach gear. Fabulous little inn in the heart of it all and just minutes from the beach. The owner is also very sweet and helpful, even offering up bikes and boogie boards to guests on a first come, first serve basis. Now that's service you won't find at the larger hotel monstrosities that are starting to fill up the beaches here... Each room is different as the place used to be a large old house. There are intimate rooms and rooms for families, and each one has a kitchenette of some sort to make life just a little bit easier. The best part? It won't cost you an arm and a leg, and as my family found out before finding this gem, you won't be able to beat these prices trying to stay at a larger hotel. Not by a long shot. Plus the owner, Nick, is absolutely amazing and made our stay wonderful. I can't recommend this place enough. Why stay in a typical, boring old hotel room when you can have a little comfort of home and a minute walk to the ocean's edge - a sliver of ocean away from the big crowds to boot! Close to the beach and restaurants (walking distance). Not the cleanest, there was a frog in our bathroom understandable being in the south however pretty sure it crawled up from the shower drain. Also they don't clean the rooms at all during your stay (may be different if you have a longer stay but we're only here for three nights). We had never been to Tybee Island before and when looking for a hotel, most nearby got bad reviews. We decided to try the Georgianne. We were not disappointed. We stayed in room 5, one bedroom. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Nick, the owner, showed us the room, then walked us around the property and told us about the best nearby places to go. There are free bikes and chairs for you to use. The beach is only about a block away. Very quiet in the rooms. We would definitely stay here again versus a hotel/motel. read more

My partner and I stayed here for a week and it was wonderful! Nick & Chris were great hosts and the room was very nice and clean! When they say they treat you like family they weren't kidding. We needed an ironing board & iron while we were there & after teasing us about bringing clothes that needed to be ironed to the beach Nick let us borrow his. I also realized about 8hrs from the inn that I had left my laptop there. I called and Nick drove into Savannah that day and shipped it back to me. Thank you for a wonderful trip! read more

We just returned from a weekend on Tybee. Nick was gracious and had everything we needed. We flew from PA so it was great to have access to beach chairs we could borrow. The room was quaint and although didn't have a beach view, it was large and easily housed our family of four with room to spare. The Inn is within walking distance to many local sights and restaurants. Sadly Nick said he sold the Inn, but if new owners keep it open, I would stay here again. read more

This place was the best! The owner Nick was very accommodating and welcoming. He was more than easy to deal with about visitor parking along with warning us about traffic problems we might have encountered the day of a festival that took place during our visit. The last day I unfortunately got a flat in the parking lot but Nick was there to help make sure my spare was on properly and safe to drive on. It's a beautiful property in an amazing location walking distance of all the shops, restaurant and beach. Highly recommend to anyone interested in visiting Tybee Island! read more

My partner and I stayed here just after St. Patrick's Day for five days. The inn is lovely and the rooms are absolutely charming! They also have everything you could need - comfy bed and living space, full kitchens (complete with utensils, dishes, and pots & pans), wi-fi, and even a selection of books to read on the deck. The owner, who is incredibly nice, also provides bicycles and beach chairs free of charge, which were wonderful to have since the beach was only a short stroll away (quite literally - it's less than a block!) For such a cute place so close to the beach, you really can't beat the price either! The only thing that troubled us was that the water in the shower took a while to heat up, but as I understand it, the hotel is undergoing some renovations that will include updating the plumbing. Regardless, we had a wonderful time and will absolutely be booking here again the next time we make our way to Tybee! read more
