Have to request any room cleaning, towels, etc. "Breakfast" is frozen biscuits and packaged gravy. You only have about 30 feet of view with 3 buildings between you and ocean. Professional picture taking to make the view look better. Tiny parking lot. Don't bring a large vehicle if you can help it. For $3-400 a night, this was woefully terrible. We loved this place!! What a great place to check out from the real world and just chill with your best friend. We had the top floor-Tybee Suite. It was beautiful! Very clean and beautifully decorated. Debra was amazing! Very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We can't wait to go back! With only 3 rooms at this place it was quiet, relaxing and so peaceful. There is a balcony in the front with a hammock and a back balcony full of beautiful flowers and plants. Perfect for an early evening drink before heading out. And Debra's large chocolate chip cookies she bakes daily--look out!! They were the bomb. We loved being just steps from the beach. I booked this trip a month ago for my boyfriend and I. We are both essential workers and have a hell of a year working at the hospital with Covid patients and haven't been able to go on vacation due to working so much overtime. I booked this trip for his birthday for a special trip for us and I was so excited to be able to escape from the horrors of the hospital Covid world just for one night. They called me and told me I needed to use a different credit card and I called them back and gave them a different card and they said everything was good and booked. I just received an e-Mail, no phone call or warning that they cancelled our reservation. I am extremely disappointed and upset. I cried when I had to tell my boyfriend we wouldn't get to go on vacation after all due to the cancellation. read more

We were there over Valentine's day weekend and stayed in the Tybee suite. The size of the suite is great. It could use a little love though, like a paint job and the ceiling was peeling though the innkeeper did let us know that they were going to be fixing it shortly. We really liked the tub. It's not fancy so I wouldn't stay there if you're looking for a pampering experience, but I do think it's a great place to stay for a beach vacation or just nicer than a regular hotel. We opened the patio doors and used the screens at night to wake up each morning listening to the waves outside. It was absolutely lovely. I liked reading on the attached porch with my morning tea. The innkeeper, Debra, is absolutely wonderful. She makes stellar breakfasts every day. She is a pleasure to chat with and gave us some great tips of places to see and restaurants to visit. She also made me a tiny, three tiered cake and gave us a little champagne, when she found out it was my birthday. She was an absolute delight. This place is getting the 5 star salute. Maybe its due to me never going to a Bed & Breakfast before or possibly the excellent decor. Either way, this place is amazing. Once again the decor, interior, and layout of this place is fabulous. From the calming wallpaper colors to the rustic furniture, I'm in heaven. Actually, it's just a bed & breakfast but it's a nice intermediary. I don't really know how busy this place is but I know right now as I'm staying here the 3 rooms here are taken. I cannot hear or have seen them which is good. There's a common area and it's nice and big for all of us staying here. Overall the place is Breakfast at 8, walking on the beach at 10 and then a whole lot of R&R for the rest of the day. Unfortunately you cannot see the beach too well from this place but thats fine. The beach is less than a 5 min walk and the big rocking chairs and hammock make up for the lack of the view. If you didn't bring food here with you, there's plenty of great places for you to eat nearby. From mediocre ice cream to delicious seafood you're belly will get full and you'll sleep wonderfully. read more

This is a wonderful little B&B located on Tybee Island. After visiting Savannah for 4 days, I made my way out to Tybee for some relaxation. I chose to stay in the Tybee Suite based on the promise of a private deck with beach view. I was not disappointed. The Desoto Beach B&B is part of a larger complex that has a hotel. After a somewhat confusing check in process, I settled into my room and then headed to the beach. Located only a short walking distance from the beach was another big bonus for me in my selection of this accommodation. I opted to rent an umbrella and chair from the hotel so I only had to carry my small tote with me to to beach each day. However, if I was staying longer than 2 days, it would have been more economical to simply buy a chair and umbrella. The BB was beautifully decorated and the amenities were top notch. Breakfast was plentiful with a mix of cold and prepared to order options (eggs, pancakes, waffles). The afternoon snacks of wine, cheese and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies were a welcome refreshment after a day on the beach Debra, the house mom, was engaging with information about the B&B and Tybee Island. I'm holding back one star because the ground level was under construction and I was not notified prior to my arrival. While inside the B&B, you could noticeably hear saws pretty much throughout the day. There was also several days where the parking lot was not accessible. I am chalking this up to out of season conditions and suspect in high season this would not be the case. read more

Found this beautiful B&B on Travelocity and booked it for a two night stay. The B&B is very well taken care of and has great ammenities! Annie was our hostess and she did an awesome job and took great care of us! We stayed in the Atlantic room which had plenty of space. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again soon with our family! It has a slight view of the ocean but is less than 300 feet to the beach. The B&B is in a very convenient location and you can walk to a lot of places on the island. The only complaint we had was the parking situation at the B&B. read more

I stay here every time I visit Tybee. I feel like I am stepping back in time. The hotel is older but updated and comfortable. The beds are very comfy! I love the game room, pool, and courtyard. The beach is amazing it isn't crowded and very clean. You don't see any huge hotels or condos which is so, so nice! The front desk is always efficient and helpful. The only problems I see with the hotel is the parking and I wish they had better creamers for their coffee in the morning. If you want a quaint, layed back hotel right on Tybee try this hotel. We stayed at the b&b and were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and spacious. We were in the Tybee room. The homemade breakfast which was prepared by ms Debra was awesome. She was so sweet and attentive. Breakfast really felt like we were at home, a lo to choose from. I give the b&b and ms Debra an A+ Now on to the not so pleasant things: 1. We arrived at 1pm and walked up to the front desk to see if we could possibly check in earlier (our check in time said 3pm on our itinerary) where the front desk lady looked so annoyed from the start. She informed us that our room is not ready and that it will be ready by 4pm (although i had an email where it said 3pm). She took my phone number n said she would call when room was ready. We went to the pier, light house, the battery to kill time. Come 3pm still there was no phone call but we decided to come to the front desk n wait there in the air conditioned room. When we got to the front desk i asked again if our room was ready n it was (but why in the world she has not called us if the room was ready ?!) 2. Even when checking out the staff at the front desk were so annoyed. We didn't say anything obviously, but if you hate your job that much then just quit n find something else!!!! Why work in the place where you just look so irritated at all times. But over all the b&b was awesome. I would not stay in the hotel, but would stay in the b&b again. Thanks. read more

***Please note the star rating is a reflection of the poor customer service we received upon check in.*** During a recent visit to see family, my mom surprised my husband, daughter, and me with a room at the Desoto Beach Bed and Breakfast. My three year old has been excited about her first beach trip for months, and after reading all of the hotel's positive reviews, my husband and I were equally excited about extending our day beach trip to an overnight one. Unfortunately, our experience started off very rocky. Upon checking in, we were met with hostility by the front desk staff person. I believe her name was Jackie, though I'm certain her name tag said she was from Fairfax, Va. She did not greet us as we checked in and seemed annoyed by our presence. My husband, daughter and I were joined at the desk by my sister and cousin, since we planned to spend time together at the beach before they headed back home and we went to our room for the night. Without even saying hello, Jackie sniped that only two people (and the baby) were allowed to sleep in the rooms. I ignored her rude demeanor and calmly told her that only my husband, daughter and I were staying overnight and that my sister and cousin were only going to the beach then heading home. She then asked another gentleman named Brandon to escort us to our room. As we all walked to the elevator, we overheard Jackie tell Brandon she "just didn't feel comfortable with our group going to the room." We were all in a pretty bad mood at this point but tried to temper our frustration for the sake of having a good time. As we made it off the elevator, Jackie called Brandon on his walkie talkie asking that he return to the desk immediately. So we were left outside, with our bags,in the Tybee heat and sun (without a room key) as she AGAIN expressed her discomfort with us going to our (PAID!!!) room since only two sleeping guests are allowed. Brandon tried to relay this to us as gently as possible but the damage was already done. We told him, for a third time, that only my husband, toddler, and I would be staying and that we discussed this with Jackie several times. Luckily, our experience wasn't completely ruined by Jackie's rudeness and unprofessionalism. The rooms were very nice and had direct access to the beach. We also had a delicious breakfast the next morning prepared by Debra. She was SO sweet and made us feel right at home. Debra was the single best thing about our stay at DeSoto and is the only reason I'm rating two stars instead of one. No paying customer should receive the type of service Jackie provided. It was rude, unwelcoming, and a horrible way to represent DeSoto. Do better by your patrons. read more

We stayed at the DeSoto Bed and Breakfast for two nights, and I must say it was beyond wonderful. When you check in, you have to go to the hotel. After checking in, you get a guided tour of the property and then to the bed and breakfast next to the hotel. The bed and breakfast is only three rooms, and we stayed in Butler and the Atlantic. The Atlantic has a partial view of the ocean and the Butler has a view of the street. Kea, the innkeeper, was beyond amazing and helpful. Kea would make a Southern style breakfast around 730am. I could smell the bacon cooking and wake up to it every day. If there was anything else you wanted like scrambled eggs, Kea will make it for you. I am going to miss Kea's grits once I go home. Around 5pm, there is a refreshment social for those in the B&B. White and red wine are offered, as well as pink lemonade. Cheese and crackers are offered as well, but it is the chocolate chip cookies on the side that are best. If we stay on Tybee Island again, we will definitely stay here again. read more

We have been coming to Tybee for many years and this time stayed at the B&B for a few days (1/13 - 1/15). Unfortunately, I left without my make-up bag which had a pair of gold earrings in it and mentioned this to the hotel manager on duty when I called. I was told the B&B would be empty for the next couple of days so I thought there was a good chance in finding the bag. They did find it and I asked to have it shipped to me and I would pay for the shipping cost. I receive the bag in the mail but, without the earrings. I called back and was told I could file a police report but since I do not live in GA I thought it would be a moot point. They said they would look again and called back they didn't find any. I got the impression they didn't believe me and could care less. We've stay at Desoto properties in the past and unfortunately, they just lost a customer. read more

I brought my mother here this week & thought I'd take my chances after seeing some good reviews. We needed to get her away for awhile after having a small stroke that has left her very stressed & confused. The beach is her favorite getaway so I booked here & couldn't be happier. Both Deborah & Annie were our hostesses & they made us both feel very welcome & were very accommodating for breakfast & general needs. They both are morning ppl (though I am not) & seem genuinely happy about ensuring guest comfort. The B&B is not fancy. But it's quaint, clean, & comfortable. The only sad thing is a building that blocks much of the ocean view (though there is partial) but given our comfort, I can let that slide. An amazing experience! I was traveling from Columbus, OH to the Florida Keys and needed to stop a few places along the way to sleep, eat, rest and party. Michelle, who works at the front desk was absolutely lovely. I had cut my hand earlier (packing up the truck, etc). Michelle went above and beyond her "work" duty to search out band-aids for me. Room was beautiful. However, customer service was TERRIBLE. My friend and I are full-time 22 year old college students and work full-time also. We both had 2 days off of work and decided to go to Tybee for one night for a relaxing trip. We were harassed from the moment we arrived. The front desk said we had to be 25 to stay in the bed & breakfast but my confirmation said 21. We were given a "speech" about not having a party over and over. We explained that we were only here for a night and planned on going to the beach and sleeping. They took it entirely too far. Leaving us feeling harassed. The next morning, the staff went on and on about how they are so glad they didn't get any complaints. We were kept up all night by the family next to us snoring. The walls were so thin that we could hear them snoring. We will not be returning here and the staff needs to learn manners. read more
