The lobby is sensory overload when you first enter it. It's colorful with silver dinosaur bones and pterodactyls overhead. I kid you not! If that wasn't impressive enough, there are humongous crystal geodes on display. Some of the were even larger than me. There's an entrance to an African themed bar which served African inspired dishes, which I'd never had before. All this may seem like it shouldn't go together, but it does. The rooms were stylishly elegant. The bathroom is spacious and well stocked with bathrobes, slippers and quality toiletries. The beds and pillows were plush and cozy. Since we were there for a conference, the ample work area was appreciated. There is a chaise lounge right next to the window where I watched steamboats and cargo ships sail by on the Savannah River. The location was predictably right next to the river. I spent a whole day just walking on the River Walk with a variety of restaurants, dessert shops, candy stores, bars, cafes and souvenir shops. While it was geared towards tourists, which I was, I didn't have to go far from my hotel to get a taste of Savannah. There are historical buildings complete with the moss covered tress and cobblestone streets (which sounds quaint until you walk on it without twisting an ankle). Coming from hotel industry, I can appreciate a well run 5 Diamond hotel. While the stay was extra ordinary, there were a few things I wasn't fond of. The hotel has 3 parts to it. We were staying in the 3 Muses, which is a separate building and bit of a walk from the lobby. The walk isn't an easy one, which was an issue for my elderly father. Since we visited in the summer and the weather was hot and humid, walking out of the airconditioned lobby to trek over to the 3 Muses was less than ideal with my glasses fogging up at each entry and exit. But these were minor hiccups in an otherwise fantastic stay.

There are many restaurants and historic sights walking distance from the hotel. The building is historic and you can feel it when you walk around the building. The rooms were recently renovated for furniture, but they retain the historic feel to them. The bed here was very comfortable and I got a great rest here. The bathroom was also renovated and was very clean. I came here with a large party and we booked a few rooms and everyone loved it here. My son and his family had a suite with a balcony. Their room's balcony entrance was from the window. I think this is the first time I saw this setup. There was breakfast service here as well. When you come in, you sit down and right away a waitress came with a paper menu. You would fill in what you would like for breakfast and within a few minutes they brought out the food. The menu options were excellent, they had grits, oatmeal, eggs, yogurt, bacon, bagels, bread, fruit and a few more items. The breakfast really filled me up for the day. The service here was phenomenal. We arrived very late due to a delayed flight and they had an attendant at the front desk who checked us in and had a friendly attitude. The hotel also has valet service. The staff and housekeepers were very nice, accommodating and did a great job taking care of us. I had a great welcoming stay at the Marshall House. Everywhere is walkable in Savannah in the historic district, but this hotel is in the heart of the city. The hotel is historic, but clean and updated. The staff is amazing. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was included, plus an evening gathering with a historian one night, a singer one night, and a harpist. Every place from the restaurants to the waterfront were all a 10 minute walk or less! Highly recommend!

I also wondered why the bathroom only provided one towel hook on the bathroom door when it was a 2 queen bed room... and had no clue where to hand the wet pool towels! The outlet near my bed did not work, so had to charge my phone overnight in the bathroom area. Being deaf in one ear that made it difficult to hear my alarm. 2 things that annoyed me most were... 1. Many times no one was at the front door to hold the door open for struggling guests. I watched 3 different times people wrestle with their dogs, doggie bed, and luggage to get through the door by themselves. I understand someone can't be there all the time, but the installation of automatic doors should be considered. 2. Their front desk staff obviously have not been taught that 'The customer in front of you always comes first'. I stood politely and waited for the front desk person to finish their texting or email on their phone. She acknowledged me, began working on my issue, then answered the ringing desk phone, and instead of asking them to please hold a minute, she stopped helping me and dealt with their issue. The corporate ownership of this hotel is awful…read more The room that I reserved was not available when I checked in and I had to share a bed with someone I did not want to share a bed with. The person at the front desk seemed understanding, but powerless to help. My reservation clearly showed that I reserved a room with two queen beds. One of the reservations made by my family was two separate two day reservations (four consecutive days but made as two separate reservations). We clarified that we had the same room for the whole four day stay when we checked in. At an impressively inconvenient time midday of the third day our key card stopped working. The front desk explained that corporate required us to recheck in to the room at that time and this process took longer than seems necessary in 2026 (when our stuff was already in the room and we had done the same thing two days prior). This is clearly a low functioning hotel management system that creates unnecessary and unpleasant steps for its staff and guests. The rooms are fine but a bit dated, generally showing some wear, there were multiple old USB outlets but zero modern USB outlets, service in the restaurant is incredibly slow and the food is very uneven. It's hard to mess up pizza as bad as one we got. One of our servers was completely untrained, although very polite and sincerely trying their best. Staff are friendly and our interactions with the front desk and folks cleaning rooms were very pleasant. The morning coffee and afternoon wine and snacks in the lobby was nice. There are nice seating options in the lobby and in the interior courtyard as well. The location is great with very short walks to the river or the beautiful old downtown area. There is a lovely small park adjacent to the hotel and we enjoyed sitting on benches in the shade of elegant old oaks. Old Savannah is a gem and a highlight of our trip. The gym is tiny and worthless. Generally speaking the Kimpton Brice is overpriced for what you get. The most disappointing aspect of my experience was that the location is great and the human beings working on the premises are also great, but the experience was degraded by the folks at IHG or whatever corporate scam is hurting this hotel.

I had great communication with our host. She was so sweet, very accommodating, and quick to respond. I loved my second story patio and the beautiful courtyard with outdoor showers to use after coming home from the beach. The kitchen was a great size for me and my husband and I really loved the bed. It was king sized and sooo comfy. Added to the blackout curtains I had the best night sleep I have had in awhile. I will definitely be booking again in the future!

Added to this they provided a parking pass which trivializes moving around Tybee so that was a nice perk. Our bed was new and surprisingly soft. The space was a little cramped for me at 6'8" but the bed was a great size and I'm cramped In a lot of spots so no knocks here. We'll consider staying here again.

Our first night we couldn't get the TV or the wi-fi to work?! The next morning when we mentioned it, one of the guests said that someone mentioned that they had problems, too. Of course, we said something to the person who worked there and they said they'd had problems with the wifi and gave us the staff wifi password which solved that problems. They said they would have someone look at the tv, but it still didn't work that night. Turns out a previous guest had used it to play video games and it wasn't reset. That is something that needs to be looked at before the next guests arrive. Also, we didn't have any bath products in the shower, so I had to go down and ask for them. One of the drawers in the armoire got seriously stuck and the lampshades are so dark that we had to remove them just so we could see well enough to read at night. There are only 4 parking spaces attached to the property in the back although we are allowed to use another parking lot where there is no direct access to. The good is that it's a neat old house that is very close to Forsyth Park and the back is really pretty with all the wisteria in bloom. On the ground level in the back there is a really pretty fountain/fish pond area. The room we were in had a shared balcony off the back with stairs that access the back ground area. Lots of neat antiques throughout the house. Great front porch. Breakfast was wonderful and they gave you options as to when you wanted to eat. I liked the tea bar set up in the smaller dining room, too. Some very different teas, too. I'm afraid to say that I wouldn't recommend it.

We always looked forward to returning to Savannah partly because we loved the DPH so much. For this reason, we decided to book a family holiday trip and stayed here over the Christmas week of 2013 (about 4-5 months ago). The inn is under new management/ownership and things just are NOT the same. There always used to be very friendly people running the place- they would always talk to you about where and what to eat, fun activities, local happenings, etc. But now that's not really the case. Also, they did make an exception for our dogs to stay, although they are not dog friendly. This kind of turned into a bit of a nightmare, when the innkeeper's girlfriend Emily was around. She had frantically mentioned the dogs were heard scratching at the door when we were gone. She told me she was really concerned so i offered to show her the inside of the room. She said no. Why not just come see that there is no damage or issue and put it to rest? There's a long story involved with things like this happening the entire stay. If they were uncomfortable, then they should have just not let the dogs stay. Mid-stay, which was xmas eve day, Emily insisted we board the dogs somewhere, but there were no openings that last minute. Colin and Tim were the only saving graces this place had. They made bfast each morning, and all the food was great. They were sweet and helpful when around. They also mentioned Emily has a very bad tendency to over react, and said they had been alone with the dogs for multiple days with NO ISSUES at all. It was a relief to have both of them there after Emily had made us extremely uncomfortable. The rooms had old TVs, and i know there are so many things to do in Savannah, but does that mean you can't enjoy TV in bed before passing out? This week there was literally not even a local channel working- my entire family thought this was a little crazy- especially at over 230$ per night! Another issue we had was NO housekeeping/room cleaning over the holiday week. They must have that issue often, as i see that complaint on other yelp reviews. We brought this to their attention, and they ended up giving a one night credit on an 8 night stay. Not too impressive. Sadly, i will not be staying at the DPH going forward. There are too many other gorgeous B&Bs in Savannah to waste time here- although it never used to be like this!

You could tell how much thought and effort went in to presentation, flavor and diversity. I loved the peach cream baked french toast so much I had to look up similar recipes so I can make it at home. There were always cold drinks in the mini fridge, ice in the cooler, water in a pitcher, snacks in a bowl and best of all something homemade every day. I can't decide if my favorite was the rocky road bars, or this chocolate peanut buttery rice crispy like dessert. We stayed in both the Sunrise Suite and the Starfish room because neither were available for all five days. Both are fantastic! Hot roomy showers, oh so comfy robes, soft sheets and towels, mattresses that were not too soft nor too hard, perfectly painted, and well chosen decor. The house has a covered porch on three sides so there are loungers in both the shade and in the sun by the pool. My favorite spot was the swing. The beach is a five minute walk away, not crowded at all, and made for long walks. I love to travel and try new places, but Surf Song on Tybee is a place I will look forward to returning to in the years to come. I wished we lived closer so we could visit several times a year.

There were indoor cushioned swings to lounge in, complimentary robes, and the linens were to die for. It was so quiet it felt like we were the only ones there, and we had the absolute best view! Breakfast was fantastic and we enjoyed chatting with the owner, as she was super attentive, warm, and friendly. We enjoyed a cup of coffee on the porch swing before heading out for a walk on a the beach once the rain had cleared. We will absolutely be back to Surf Song for another stay in the near future! We cannot recommend it enough!
