The Gin Mill - Dive Bars Near Me - Henderson, Nevada

This feels like a place a local def has to tell you about (and one did). A friend of the wife is a regular and brought the wife into the fold. I have been a few times now, and the regulars are warm and welcoming for the most part. Sure, there's the quiet bar hugger that just stares here and there, but overall it has that familiar "Cheers" feel to it--that's a good thing for the young people reading this and have no idea who Coach, Sam, Norm, Cliff and Woody are. I'm not a people or a crowd person--wife is. So she did the heavy lifting of getting me "in" and I admit that but they're all great folks. If you're at the bar, you aren't hurting for attention. The ladies that are behind the bar (at least it's always been ladies when I'm there, maybe there are some dudes?) are on top of it, super sweet, and you never have to flag them down for another drink. Try the food! I've had a few things here, and I'll be honest with you, I expect a bar that has this feel to have microwaved pizza and chicken tendies. No, they have a full kitchen and so far everything I've had out of it has been legit and delicious. Mushroom burger was big, juicy, and delicious. Fries are good sized, fried crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and seasoned well. You can also get homemade chips, but I haven't tried yet. Caesar salad is good sized--get the chicken, and blackened. Really good. Fried pickles and zucchini are good too, as is the onion rings according to the wife. I forget what else I've tried here, but I haven't been disappointed. They may not have all the mixers to make every drink out there, and I think someone else mentioned they didn't have tap beer (which also surprises me, but oddly enough, I haven't noticed). So I can't confirm nor deny that one. But if you're looking for a place that has a good attitude, good atmosphere (it is dark and smokey, but I'm not a fan of smokey air and this place doesn't get to me, they have a new industrial air filter that does pretty well), and good food with good folks behind the bar, and maybe want to earn the right to be a regular, this is not a bad place to do it. Or just send your wife to do all the work and reap the benefits like I did! read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would. My first time there, I'm meeting a friend. We both had money in the machines, having a conversation playing not as fast as she would like. At least or four times, she mentioned we weren't playing fast enough, and then had the audacity to come up and tell us to move so other people could play. My first time there so I would say that she should've catered to me and made me a regular customer instead of driving me away so I will tell everybody not to go there. read more

Came to this place with a friend for the first time. Went to the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender, "Stephanie", asked us if we been there before. My friend and I both said no, it's our first time there. Apparently 5 people according to the bartender told her we were there starting fights the other night. I told the bartender again it was my friend and I first time. One African American girl came up to us and said "If you're 86ed, you need to leave!" My friend and I were appalled and said for the 3rd time, it was our first time there. I told the bartender to check our IDs and the 86ed list to see if we're on there. We wanted to prove a point. Stephanie the bartender then said "My boss has the list and he's sleeping." She then took our drinks from us and told us to leave. We won't be back there because APPARENTLY my friend and I have been 86ed from the place?! THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE! read more

It's not a 5-star review because it's a neighborhood dive bar, but 4 stars for a local hang is great! This is a small corner spot in residential Green Valley. Wood paneling, juke box, pool tables, fried food. I believe there was once an attached restaurant but now you have to eat at the bar. But it's a fun bar. Sports on the tv. Great happy hour specials. The kind of place where it seems everyone lives a stone's throw away and the bartender has memorized their orders. If you want a beer, or to play the poker machines, or grab a good burger (or all 3!) and you don't mind smokers or the occasional loud talker, this is the place. Stop by when Carmel is working, she's a top-notch bartender! read more

Ok, yeah, there's nothing great about the Gin Mill. It's a slightly below average bar with a slightly below average beer list and below average food. However, I add a 3rd star for the following reasons: 1) I always hit two 4-of-a-kind every time I play here. 2) Drinking Liberally is here every Tuesday. 3) The servers are very nice. 4) Their potato chips are pretty damn good. read more

Me and my friend came into the bar as our first time and was accused of being there the night prior to some fight. We told them we've never been here and they served our drinks as we were sipping them they took them back and told us to leave. I asked them to show us who on the camera that they think it was us and they had no evidence of it. This place is ridiculous and they're racist to Hispanic people. read more

This place is AMAZING! The best customer service ever. You don't really feel like a customer, you feel like family. Their drinks are very low priced and their food is absolutely AMAZING! If you like chicken tenders and/or wings, get the Thai sauce, and get extra of it, it's so so so good! Onion rings are melt in your mouth. I know that sounds crazy, but this bar is a hidden gem. I started coming here about 3 to 4 months ago, during the football season had a game on every tv and the food is great and the bartenders were nice. They have pool tables of the side of the bar but it is a great place to relax. read more

Bartender: Steph Had a great time tbh. Was a little hesitant based on the reviews for this place but idk wtf they were thinking... clearly they came to a bar thinking it's a restaurant, fail. We had a great time. Yes it's a little dive bar-y and dark but who cares? It was perfect to watch some hockey and basketball and talk to some locals and gamble a bit at the bar for some drinks. Which were straight up comp'd when asked how much we lost lol #noshame. This place is severely underestimated and undervalued as we live down the street and decided to walk to a local bar since it's near home wth why not right? So happy we did! Bartender was straight up nice and fun, she took care of us! Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a chill local bar to hang out at. Getting tires for my car over at Big O, they needed an hour, so I thought "lemme check this dive, hopefully it'll be nice and dark and they'll have power for my laptop" so I did. Not only was it dark with an available power outlet, but the food was good! I didn't go in even thinking about lunch but I took a peek at the menu and I was impressed by its seriousness. I got the mushroom burger w onion rings to go with my Coke. Better quality meat than I expected, no gristle, 'shrooms sauteed just right, condiment carrier brought to my table. Sports were playing on big TV's all over the place and regulars were enjoying a baseball game on ESPN. I got some work done while my car got new tires. Everything was copacetic. read more

This place feels like a neighborhood bar. Everyone seems welcome and the staff is very warm. There is a jukebox in the corner where everyone can spend their dollars fighting over the next genre to play. I had s burger and fries and for once in quite some time, it was actually cooked correctly. If you want a good time and atmosphere on a weekend, this is the place to check out! read more

I love The Gin Mill! It is a friendly neighborhood bar without the pretentiousness of the "dive" bars, which is ironic in and of itself, but I digress. The drinks are cheap (my 3 double Jameson/Ginger Ales and two shots of Jameson came out to $30). My 2 "double" Jameson/ginger ales..which I HIGHLY doubt were doubles, at Aces and Ales were $20. That is what sets a good neighborhood/low key bar from the pretentious hipster bars or the bars on the strip where you are aware of your impending rape. The atmosphere is relaxed, people are singing the good ol boy songs. Some take it upon themselves to come by and introduce themselves. The bartender immediately came over to ensure that we were not being bothered. I really liked our bartender. She had a fun, spunky and real attitude. She even charged my phone for me! Her 30% tip was well deserved. It is a smoky bar, they do serve food, they have a jukebox and pool tables. It does get rowdy, but the atmosphere overall was very relaxed with everyone just enjoying themselves. read more

The food here is excellent. The burgers are huge, the pizza is tasty and the gyro salad is the best thing for your mouth. The bartenders are super friendly. There's really nothing bad I can say about this bar. It's strange that there's no draft beer. Everything is in bottles just so you're aware. read more

I've been coming here for about 7 years great little neighborhood bar and grill. All the staff are enjoyable to be around and the people that come in are all pretty genuine. If you are a non smoker it does get to be a little too much on some nights. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it is all delicious! WE LOVE the GIN MILL. OMGOSH. We moved out of Greenbrier Valley cause of scorpions!! Yikes, so thought we might not be at the Gin Mill often. Nope......... WE DRIVE from where we live now to get there. The Bartenders are awesome, the people who are regulars are like family. It is dark, and old stories are quick to be told from many, including the bartenders. It surely has that Old World down home charm! We LOVE this place, takes us back to another era, which newbys and a lot of young folk won't understand, but WE DO!! The food is the Bomb!! And we win a lot there! LOVE the Gin Mill. Greg is a great bartender works on graves and pays attention to details. He's constantly cleaning/pouring/serving drinks. He's quite a special bartender and what makes him so good is he will actually sit and listen to you and genuinely cares about your well being. This bar is a must visit if you are in the area. They have a great juke box and food as well. Update, Greg no longer works for Gin Mills they have a grumpy old man that drinks whisky round the clock on grave yards and he's bitter and cold. damn place over charges for a bottle of beer they are charging upwards of 4 dollars which is 8 dollars for 24 ounces. Same time pts charges me 4 dollars a beer for a full 25 ounces of beer. read more

I didn't care for this place one bit and it's a shame because it's near my home and initially I thought this would be my go to place. We entered and sat ourselves at the bar. Looked at the menu and once she decided to come around and we mentioned food she said the kitchen was closed for the night, but that there are other restaurants in the same plaza, like del taco and Arby's?? Umm thanks for suggesting we leave to eat someplace else when clearly we came to this place to not have drinks as well, and for mentioning del taco and Arby's. Don't you think if that's what we wanted we would have gone there initially? Anyways, she was rude about it and we walked out. This place is pretty much a dive bar. It's super dark and has a seedy vibe. The patrons were a little frightening. It is old and run down looking. We only came here while the car was getting oil changed and a few things done at Jiffy Lube next door. We were going to game, eat and leave. Well, the bartender was not interested in us and service was just ok. Wings were nothing to write home about. It's not the worst place I have been but it is a place I won't return to. read more

Okay, so I want to preface this review with the fact that I love this establishment and bartenders like Gina are awesome... however, I was here last night on the second date night I've ever had with my wife after being married 6 years (we've been busy ok?) Any way the female bartender that was working was entirely useless and needs to be fired. We chose this place because my (4 weeks from due, pregnant) wife wanted to play pool and the tables in this place are located far from the bar in a separate room. We walked in, approached the bar and waited for no less than 10 minutes while she circled the bar, took a couple glasses out of the dishwasher, chatted with people and then finally came over for our order. BTW we're kinda hard to miss as we're standing at the foot of the bar with no one by us and I'm over 6 foot tall. I ordered a Crown on the rocks and a glass of ice water. She turned, walked away, and emptied a couple more glasses from the washer, talked to other customers, poured a drink for someone, and 5 minutes later came back and greeted us again as if we had just walked in. I made our order again. She turned around grabbed a shot glass and went off looking or the bottle of Crown. When she finally came back she set a shot down in front of my wife and asked if I wanted anything to drink. I again repeated our order, and she poured my glass of whiskey finally. When she returned she asked if my wife wanted a bottle or glass. We repeated that she wanted a glass of ice water. 25 minutes from the time we arrived we were finally able to go to the pool tables... I don't want to write a book here, but just imagine another round of drinks, ordered and served in the same manner. She was high out of her mind on something, could not focus on us when speaking with us, and the two times I was at the bar I watched her take shots... which I have no problem with as long as you can still perform your job duties. This kind of service is extremely unacceptable, and I highly doubt I'm the first to notice. In fact I witnessed 3 other ppatrons experience the same thing and leave without service. read more

He still has his back to me and says "what" I say s long island not the mix crap he says rudely the 15 dollar one?? I say what? Used to be 7 dollars? I don't always go here but have on occasion since it's near my parent's house but very friendly staff, kept the drinks coming, & good food!

Finally had a good visit here the food was hot and tasted pretty good especially since it was a 99 cent breakfast special !! Waitress was attentive and seem to give everybody equal attention. It's about 9:30 in the morning and there are only six people in the place. Much better experience than last visit. read more

Ok so yes its a dark smoky bar behind a gas station and a few fast food places but its my neighborhood bar and I love it. Don't expect anything fancy or lavish remember the Bellagio is about 15min in the other direction. I have been here a few times, for sports games and just to have a drink with friends. I've never been disappointed. The service is very good and the bartenders are friendly. The burgers are actually very good for bar food. The Miller specials are a bit of a downer, only because I prefer Bud. The TVs are located in great position to enjoy the games from the bar. For a local bar that doesn't have the feel of a big chain, this place is perfect. Side note: the homemade chips are delicious. read more
