This is a great spot on greenwich ave to sit back and have a few beers with your coworkers. They must have atleast 100 beers available here... ranging from your typical stuff that you can get at the local supermarket to some hard to find craft beers. The variety can get overwhelming but the waiters can usually give you a good recommendation based on your personal preferences. Went with high expectations for burgers. Overall great staff. The lighting inside needs updating. It's kind yellowish and we found it to be annoying. We were there early evening. Bar crowd was not large but due to one fella it was super loud. He was super loud and over powered the room. Annoying. Dude chill out. Burger was over cooked. All three were overcooked. I just don't get how you can over cook all three. Perhaps the wait staff submitted incorrectly. Don't know but was bummed. Two beers. Soda and three burgers was a bit pricey but hey it's Greenwich Avenue. Believe you need to get more focus on quality of meals. You have location. You have a comfortable place inside. I've been here for both a meal and late night drinks. Food is typical for pub fare- burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, etc. Everything was well prepared. I really had a great time at night. The atmosphere is fairly casual and people were friendly. Sort of felt like a mini GHS reunion when walking in but I think that's because I don't live in town and seeing everyone is fun for me. This is not only a great lunch place, but good for dinners and for drinks after work. The crowd that mixes for drinks/dinner is in their 30's on average, however it is a relaxed place to go no matter your age. For lunch it tends to be the typical work lunches mixed in with soccer moms, but this is Greenwich after all. The food is good, the ambience is casual and their are plenty of drinks to choose from. This place did everything right! The service was impeccable from start to finish. Drinks were always served promptly, and the selection of beers was tremendous. I really enjoyed everything - the calamari, the vegetable quesadilla, the crab cakes. And the entrees were just as enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed my ribs, and the fish and chips were EXCELLENT! The dessert that I had wasn't anything special, but it was very good. But the highlight there was the excellent beer selection. Do yourself a favor, come here, and order a couple great beers from around the world. I particularly enjoyed the hoppy California beer on Draught and a Pinkus from Germany. The Ginger Man is a hidden gem in the heart of Greenwich. From simple sandwiches and burgers to fresh steaks and seafood, there's something on the menu to please anyone, and to make an indecisive diner cringe at the menu. I have been to The Ginger Man in the city and one in Dallas, TX, they all seem like they are loosely related, same exact logo and similar look/feel but still unique. I went here for lunch, nothing to write home about. I ordered the ahi tuna wrap, there was about 3oz or less of tuna in the wrap so it was rather skimpy. It smelled super fishy, which totally creeped me out but I looked at the fish and it seemed alright and I haven't keeled over yet! The staff was friendly, service was quick. Pros: Happy to find a comfortable pub in the heart of snooty-town. There is a large beer selection on tap, including craft brews not typically found in pubs. The burger and tips are great. Purgatory: I always feel bad for the chicken that produces emaciated wings with little meat on the bone. Don't expect to be impressed with large, meaty wings, but the sauce is decent. Cons: The bathroom sink faucet is extremely close to the back of the basin. I mean, you can get a couple of fingers under the tap. Gingerman is my favorite restaurant in Greenwich. I can't count the number of times I've been here. Of the three dining areas I prefer the back room with the fireplace. It feels more private and relaxed than the other rooms. If you are looking for more of a fine dining experience ask for a table upstairs. If you are sitting at the bar hopefully you will get to try the homemade potato chips they put out in baskets. The menu changes slightly with the seasons and some of the specials change more frequently. There is also a rotating beer menu of 4 or 5 on the specials. The everyday beer menu is not as extensive as the SoNo Gingerman, but it is still very large with a fair number on tap. The sandwiches on the menu are a great value and they all come with a predetermined selection of salad, chips or fries. I'm sure the chef would make a substitution of one for another if asked. The waitstaff is always friendly and helpful. If ordering an entree, be wary of the prices. Some of them are very expensive for what you get ($26). My advice is get an appetizer or salad and a sandwich selection instead of the more pricey entrees. It will be a better value. read more

We had dinner here and really enjoyed the place. Their fish/chips was good - but not quite authentic. The soup of the day was divine- a butternut squash puree! Yum Yum- not what you would expect to find at a pub. The steak salad with tomatoes, portobello mushrooms and blue cheese dressing was quite good. The dressing was a bit strong for me, should have asked for a different one since Blue Cheese is not my fave. PLENTY of beer and a good selection of top ones! We liked the ambiance here ALOT and found the service to be helpful, courteous and prompt. A high end pub with a rich feel- nice chandeliers and padding seating in the back of the restaurant- which gives it a plush and cozy feel. The fireplace is also a nice touch. read more

We made a reservation inside right by the fireplace. It was such a nice spot. The waitress was very attentive. We got Moscow mules which were made really well. They have a wide variety of beers which is nice. I'm a beer guy so thats a big plus. It can get packed after work so earlier is better. Its a great place to meet friends or even bring a few people after work to cool off. The burgers are pretty solid and the bartender is always keeping people entertained by doing mind teasers with coins and card tricks. Lots of seating at the bar and a few couches. Love this place. An amazing selection of beer on tap in an authentic tavern atmosphere. I frequent this place and the crowd is always pleasant and the staff helpful. Sal & Sosa the bartenders know how to pour a proper pint. My only complaint would be on Saturday nights, typically the best bar night of the week, they have a DJ. The music is way too loud and it takes up a lot of space. No one dances and the crowd is lesser on Saturday nights than most weekdays as a result. Other than that, I would HIGHLY recommend this amazing bar to meet a friend for a drink. read more

Although it's a little pricey it's no where near as expensive as other restaurants on Greenwich Ave. I usually order the lamb burger or the salmon and I have never been disappointed. The good: food, beer, drinks, and atmosphere. The problem with this place was the service. My friend and I sat at the bar after a moving job on sunday around lunch. The bar tender was a short, shaved head, two diamond earinged man with a beard. When we got there it was dead so the bar tender was not preoccupied with any other customers. We had to signal for his attention, when he came over he proceeded to poor our beers, he handed one beer to us and left the other (fully poored and settled) by the tap while he went downstairs to restock the bar for about 10 minutes. Finally he came back and we asked for the beer we asked for menus, he gave us one and threw it on the bar. We heard him complaining how tired he was and wanted to get cut. He never asked us if we wanted another drink or how the food was, when my friend asked for a bloody mary the bar tender never asked what type of vodka he'd like. When we got our food he proceeded to do dishes, there must of been a sink near our end of the bar because the soap splashed up and landed on my food. When we finally got our check there was an extra beer on there we never even asked for or recieved. Im sure im missing something else because the service was a complete nightmare. Lastly the food was over priced, but that could be just the area. Heres a word of advice for you man, if you cant handle the restaurant industry you should try a different line of work. We dont come in to eat to hear how bad your day was. read more

The beer selection is good, the bartender is friendly, but the food leaves something to be desired. The few dishes I have tried have not been that great, however I do recommend the goat cheese rolls (which are fabulous). The food is a bit pricey, but it is average for Greenwich. The place is great. Went there two weeks ago with two high school buddies and thoroughly enjoyed the food (fish and chips were to die for) the wine (Truchard Pinot Noir) and the dessert. The hostess was thoroughly professional and extremely helpful. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the wines. A great atmosphere that is conducive to conversation. Been coming to the area for quite a long time, since the days of Bleu and Dome. Most recently, Barcelona was the place until it closed. I come up from NYC and have thoroughly enjoyed all my experiences at Ginger Man. The food is especially good. Can't wait to get back. read more

My family and I had my sister's baby shower at The Ginger Man and it was AMAZING !!!!!! We started planning with the restaurant in late February and the shower was last weekend. Shenna is the best, not only did she help my mom and I with everything she also helped us with idea's. There was NO stress or worry what so ever. The Menu came out great, The flowers and cake were delivered the morning of, The tables and truly the whole atmosphere was COZY! I will definitely have another party there in the future. Greenwich the Grouch Greenwich, CT is like Martha Stewart. On the surface it's posh and proper yet scheming and scowling underneath. The castle style mansions spread throughout this forest wonderland are as common as the polo jockey logo around this neck of the woods. Greenwich is the most prestigious suburb outside New York City so it's only common to expect to feel like a peeping pauper when you dine there and mix within their stately yet overwhelmingly drab presence. Going to a bar for lunch in the heart of the Hedge Fund Beast that chews up millionaire investors like power bars for breakfast made me feel like I was lapped in the money earning game by a landslide. Nonetheless, I was still able to enjoy my Maine plucked Crab Cake that was a moist, plump, scrumptious treat like a casting couch session with Delta Burke for Designing Woman. And the beer selection is impressive for any bar especially for Greenwich, which is more of an upscale; I dump on Westchester, Mad Men, after work crowd. But what really left me feeling enraged was the muted grumbling undercurrent that roared beneath the surface of the candle lit decorated, quaint fireplace. Everyone there was closed off, dour and wrapped up into keeping it real by hanging out in a bar on Greenwich during the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday which seemed ludicrous and beyond forced like Adrian Brody acting as a crooner spokesperson for Stella Beer. On top of that, all of the young, uppity blond girls at the bar gave my pregnant wife nasty stares at the bar and whispered trashy putdowns into each other's ears like they've never seen a pregnant woman sip a lemon water at a bar in Greenwich before with such non showy ease. In the end, just when we were ready to break free, we had to find the bathroom, which was placed behind the cash register without a bathroom sign on it, which is a pathetic, annoying attempt to make this bar seem more inclusive and speak easy than it deserves to be seen as. But if your going to pick up your baby crib at Giggles like we did that day and need a beer to relax your nerves after getting attitude from a chesty sales lady that makes you feel as welcome as financial regulation laws pushing for hedge fund reform in Greenwich, than the Ginger Man is for you. read more
