Absolutely amazing!!! I would eat here every week! Let me just start off by saying how welcoming and friendly the staff was. I'm not sure how it was before covid but basically you come in and pick your seat with the menu in hand. When you're ready, you go to the counter/bar area to order your food/drinks. The green chili hatch macaroni and cheese was flavorless and had no spice. We ordered through Postmates and so I though that since I didn't get the option of selecting the meat that I wanted on the Mac that I would have been contacted to choose. They chose for me and chose chicken. The chicken was also flavorless and super dry. The fries and the tots were pretty good. The food quality was just not very good at all and the prices were so high. We paid $50+ after tip for these 4 items and that was with free delivery and a $5 coupon. read more

Average south Austin bar and grill type restaurant. It's comfortably close for many 78745 residents and it has quality food and decent drinks, as well as ample parking. Prices were comparable to other places in the same area that provide higher quality local food, cheeses, bakery goods and meats. I prefer supporting local foods, not just local restaurants. I've experienced the Git in its infancy (first month) and again within its first two years. Its an average spot, nothing noteworthy negative about the experience. We have been traveling for two days to move our son from KY to Austin! Once we finally arrived, I checked on Yelp for close by restaurants. The Git Out had wonderful ratings and reviews, so we headed over. I want to start with how kind and helpful the staff of Git Out were to us. We definitely were oldish for the crowd (56, 59), so we might have stuck out a bit. Even the owner/chef came over to speak with us several times. Also, masks and social distancing was observed throughout. My husband ordered a burger and tot. I wanted fish tacos, but the Mac n Cheese had been highly recommended on several reviews. So I added a small side. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal, but mine choices were supreme!!! My fish taco was fried on a flour tortilla. The sauces and slaw were a perfect blend! The Mac N Cheese was very unusual; but in a wonderful way. It had been seasoned with a wonderful cheese blend and green chilies! I actually recommended my husband put a few forkfuls one his burger!!! I can see why they named their restaurant Git Out - when I tried their mac & cheese I literally wanted to yell GIT THE F*** OUT. Food is so delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more of their menu items. This time around I had the brisket tacos & crispy brussels - highly recommend both. Fried chicken & Mac n cheese are also items to yell about. My very brave 14yr old attempted the atomic wings and was only able to eat one . They are HOT AF. BEWARE. Overall a great food experience. ***Was a bit confused walking in. The bartender kind of yelled some ordering instructions at us, but was a little hard to follow. Maybe put instructions at the "host stand" instead of on the window so 1st timers know what to do. Other than that, she was very friendly and holy cow the frozen margaritas are potent. Finally gave The Git Out a whirl with my fiancé; I had been here once before in early 2020, but I hardly even remember what life was like pre-pandemic, so it felt like I was starting fresh. Our experience was good. The menu offers a large selection, and the prices are really reasonable. We ordered wings and the Tacos al Pastor, and all of it was great. The ordering concept is a bit weird, though...reminds me of Loro, which I find to be extremely discombobulated. It wasn't busy when we were there, so it was fairly smooth. But I can only imagine on a busy night, the ordering process ends up being a cluster. I imagine the process of ordering at the bar allows the business to keep prices really reasonable, which I appreciate, but I think it would be wise to consider an app that allows patrons to order from their table instead. read more

We were standing outside the door of The Git Out and the waitperson came to the door to tell us how to do it: pick up a menu, grab a seat, order at the bar and they bring out the food and drinks. She had personality plus and really added to the vibe of the place. We ordered from their long list of draft beers and then ordered chicken wings and spicy beef empanadas. The two empanadas were really nicely seasoned but only 3 inches long so a bit expensive for $10. Plenty of heat in the mango sauced wings. The Phattymelt burger was very good. Our friends shared their Mac and cheese - the bowl was large and they took a good portion home. Spicy Brussels spouts we're tasty too. We had the bread pudding with ice cream. The bread pudding was sliced from a loaf, and was moist and delicious. The ice cream accompanying it was a big scoop but crunchy and hard when brought to the table. It softened up as we ate it. They were attentive and welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. Grab a menu, grab a table number, and sit where you want. When ready walk up to the bar and place your order. It feels like the SWA of bars - so simple - so easy - makes you feel complete in control of the pace and experience you want. What a great place for easy no fuss yummy food. Hubby and I were Austin from Reno, Nv. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were just killing time before we had to get to the airport. We knew we had to get something to eat before the long flight home, but after all that yummy Austin food fast food was out of the question. We were in an unfamiliar part of town, so I jumped on yelp and looked for something that would fill our bellies but not break the bank. And as always, Yelp didn't disappoint. There was no table service, yet the staff working that day made sure they checked on us a few times. The place was clean and the service was very friendly. We both got burgers and fries and iced tea. Sweet tea of course. The service was fast and the burgers were yummy. It had a friendly open environment. Great place to just sit back and watch the game and relax a little bit. So far I've only ordered food to go from The Git Out. The phone answered quickly and you could instantly hear the eruption of the crowd in the bar watching the game. I arrived shortly after and all of the food was packed up nearly waiting for our arrival. The staff were incredibly friendly and excited to see a new face. They helped get me sorted and checked out in no time at all. Getting the food home we had a variety of bar staples from burgers to wings to their puffy potatoes which are a sort of loaded tater tot like creation. All of the food was wonderful and we'll definitely be ordering again and likely coming back to hang on their patio. So excited to know y'all are here. read more

Great neighborhood Bar with solid food and always great service. They also make a couple of great cocktails, and you have to try the tacos.
