My visit here turned out to be a disappointment. I know that cocktails in Austin are not inexpensive but $14 for an old-fashioned that only filled half of a highball glass is absurd. The burgers were tasty and the patties were made from quality meat, but the waffle fries were kinda cold coming to the table. On August 13th, we drove around the neighborhood after having visited Austin for the 1st time. We decided to find a place for some wings and of course drinks! What I didn't expect to find was an amazing gem! You may not think much of it until you step inside and get transformed into a lovely bar & restaurant with plenty of tables and TVs! We ordered a Burger & Texas Burger along with a side of tots. We also ordered the Buffalo wings as well as the Mango Habanero. Believe me when I tell you that there is some major heat (in a great way!) when ordering the MH because it will definitely make your lips smack!!!! That heat was a nice surprise considering the fact that when you think of mango habanero, you mainly get the sweet without the heat! For drinks we ordered an Austin Sour and a Cherry Kiss. Major shout out to the lovely bartender w/the little mermaid tattoo who gave us some hints about navigating DT Austin in regards to watching the bats. The Git Out gives that chill neighborhood bar vibe. The bar and restaurant is tucked away in South Austin. After driving by many times I finally stopped in. The Git Out has a nice selection of tap beer and an extensive food menu. My favorite item was the Nachos with Brisket. Tasty and filling. I also tried the chicken tacos and didn't hate it! We checked out Git Out for dinner. They have indoor and outdoor seating with an interesting interior that will keep you finding new gems while you sip a drink. They also have parking available, so you don't have to worry about finding curbside parking or walking far. The staff were super nice and provided great suggestions for food and drinks. They checked on us constantly and were very attentive. We all enjoyed our cocktails and the bartenders gave great recommendations based on our preferences. The food was delicious. We had the Trash Frys and it was huge! It was definitely filling for us 2. The fries were still crispy even with all the goodies on top. The toppings were generously distributed and delicious! The highlight of the meal was definitely the Green Chili Mac & Cheese Bowl with smoked brisket. Mac and cheese is my favorite food so I was thrilled to find this gem. 5th time at one of my favorite spots in Austin. Casey, the bartender always takes care of me on Sundays with Espolón skinny margaritas. I tried to be a stupid skinny Bish and not order tator tots with my burger since I had a heavy breakfast. Casey asked me how my Brussel sprouts were and I told him I wasn't satisfied. He immediately took the plate away and assured me the Mac and cheese would satisfy me. The burgers are phenomenal and the Mac and cheese is decedent. We stumbled upon this place while in south Austin. Interesting concept for decor and restaurant. Walk in, grab table # and menu, pick a seat, and order at the bar. We ordered cocktails and food and it arrived very quickly! The owner even came by the table to give us some recommendations and to check on our meal. The trash fries were everything. Came here on a Wednesday evening and the place was relatively empty. We opted to sit outside and there were only maybe 2 other parties total that sat near us at any point so it made the experience pretty quaint and chill. The menu was pretty diverse, but the Dinner and a Movie salad seemed interesting and ultimately was a fantastic deal - huge and good portion size. The dressing interestingly didn't come automatically tossed with the salad so we had to go up and ask for some on the side, but the flavor of the dressing was pretty delicious so in the end it wasn't terrible. The wings had nice flavor, but the fact that they're described as jumbo on the menu was definitely misleading. They tasted good nonetheless, it's just they didn't live up to their description for sure. The fries were great - super flavorful and plentiful. Definitely would recommend! Stopped in here on a Wednesday afternoon for an early dinner. First time visiting for us. All the service was done at the bar, since it was early on a week night, there were no other wait staff. We had a Solo Burger and the Smoked Carnitas Tacos. The Solo Burger came with an egg and pork belly bacon on it. Absolutely delicious! The side of tater tots were crispy with just the right amount of salt. Can't go wrong with good tots and a great burger. I also had a beer, but can't remember the name of it. Sunny something. Light, fruity and perfect for an early dinner drink. The Smoke Carnitas Tacos looked good, and I'm told they were good, but I didn't try them. We were in town for the day/night and decided to stop here because it was close by our hotel. BEST DECISION EVER. We had the pleasure of the chef, Joel, being our server at the bar. He was amazing and didn't steer us wrong for one choice. Helped us make our decisions too because everything sounded so damn good. The other bartenders/servers were very friendly as well. For starters we got the potato puffs. BOMB AF. Dinner I got the birria tacos and my fiancé got the phatty melt with waffles fries. Let me tell you - they DO NOT play with these portion sizes. Joel let me know the birria is a 3-day process and mannnnnnnnn it is worth it I'm drooling right now thinking about it. TEXAS BURGER - This burger sounds fantastic - brisket and burgers are two of my favorite things and honestly this burger tastes pretty darn great, but the brisket chunks were a bit disappointing with their taste and dryness, but it wasn't a huge deal. TAKE MY MONEY. Any place that does some version of fries, be it waffle (like what they do here) or wedge, can definitely expect this gal to throw her card down. We came earlier to catch happy hour. There weren't signs anywhere indicating there was happy hour, so we asked the bartender. She said that the beers on tap were discounted (by like a few centers or a $1 here and there), so there isn't actually a dope HH here. We got some beers on happy hour and trash frys! I love that they had a bunch of other pub food options like burgers and good ole mac n cheese. We saw the fries, and had to order them. The plus is that they're originally vegetarian! So my veggie yelpers, rejoice! However, don't scream too loud because there aren't THAT many vege options. I always feel that way when coming to a place that has like a sports-TV-pub-food-vibe. The trash frys comes with a sunnyside egg, so I'm sure you can request for it off or substituted for something if you can't eat eggs. The fries were heavenly and generously portioned out. SO GOOD. They definitely draped it with queso because when our fries cooled down, the queso kept it all stuck together. They have salt, pepper, ketchup and tabasco by the bus-your-plates station, but I was really sad they didn't have any other hot sauces! No cholula or yellowbird? Sad day. I'm just a hot sauce fiend, so Tabasco was a let down. The presentation of the frys was great, no complaints. And the fries themselves were *smooches* There is lots of parking and they also have outdoor seating for those with pups. They also had a TV outside and inside! This space is so great for groups, so I wouldn't hesitate to come back here with a larger group of friends. Great space with lots of potential! I just wish that the happy hour menu was more clear, or at least more general instead of having differing "prices off" for the beers. In all, I'd say it was basically a 4.5 experience! Wow, can't believe this spot has been down the street from me and I just went for the first time yesterday! This spot is so cool! It's more of a sports bar type vs restaurant, which is totally my vibe so I loved it. You pick up a menu and a number, choose your seat and order at the bar. Kind of different, but didn't mind it. I had their Mexican martini and a top shelf marg and YUM! I'm usually hesitant to get mixed drinks at places due to them skimping out on alcohol...but not here! Much appreciated. Oh ask for extra napkins.. The Regular Burger was good. The bun had great texture and thickness but didn't fall apart after the first bite. It was not hard not tough. Was just right. However, we ordered at the bar and received our food very quickly! I definitely recommend the brussels sprouts! They were probably the best part of our order! We ordered The Texas Burger, which was was good, and the pork belly BLT was also pretty good. I like that the menu has a variety of food styles, so you can get a burger & fries or empanadas & tacos at the same place.
