Great bar in East Austin. Quaint and small but amazing vibes. The cocktails are fantastic. I personally recommend the El Diablo if you enjoy drinks that are a bit spicy. The bartenders are friendly and there is great ambience as well.

My boyfriend and I had some friends in town and decided to check out La Holly. We found free parking easily on the street and walked inside. It's a pretty small space inside the bar area, and it was packed, so it was a while before we were served. We were in no rush, so this didn't bother any of us! We ordered and then found a picnic table that was free out back. The space itself is cool, but I was a little disappointed by the drinks, which I felt were bland and a bit boring. I hope to go back another time to have a different experience and change my opinion, because it looks like a great spot!

Cute little bar on the corner of east 6th and perdernales. It's in a small converted house and one of the few remnants of the original neighborhood. The bar is focused on mezcal cocktails though they have a full bar so it's not entirely specialized like other mezcal bars. There's also ample outdoor seating that faces perdanales street that is visible from the street and sidewalk so this place is really popular when the weather is nice outside and right after work. They have a happy hour two that shaves off about $2 a cocktail. There's also an onsite food truck that you can order from just scan the QR code and pay from the app and pick up the food from the truck. They serve tacos and chips. I would say the tacos are just okay so I wouldn't come here just for the food.

Attended a beautiful and festive Dia de los Muertos Patron event. Staff was friendly and made delicious cocktails! Perfect space for this tasting event. Intimate and cozy. I will be back to visit during regular business hours.

This place is very different. They come in waves where they will be packed and then empty then packed again. There doesn't seem to be a gimmick or anything else that bring people in beyond a chill vibe and drinks that make people happy. It's a great warm up spot for sure.

Omggg I HAVE to talk about how DAMN GOOD the food is!!! We came in on Friday night (8/20) around 7pm so it was hoppin', but luckily we were able to find a seat inside. It's pretty loud in there, small space, filled with people, loud music -- we didn't want to sit outside (still too damn hot), so be prepared for that loud vibe. I was standing in front of the bar looking at a menu when the two guys sitting at the table next to me just randomly and simply stated, "get the pirata." I took it as a sign from the universe and that's exactly what I did. Totally straying from my normal go to (fish or chicken) the protein here was beef fajita so I was a little nervous. But all was calm in the world when I took that first bite. This taco is THE SHIT. Reminded me of my grandpa's cookouts when I was a kid. I text my Mom immediately, sending her pics saying, "Apa's relative must have made this meat." So full of flavor!! We also ordered the chicken quesadillas which were delicious with the cheese ring on the outside. My guy got the fish taco and said it was good, too! I will be back, COUNT ON IT!

Great bartenders and the mescalitas were on point. I also enjoyed a nice craft beer on tap from Zilker and there was an awesome food truck out back in the patio area. Great atmosphere inside and out and service was good too.

What are their happy hour times? :)

They are closed Monday and Tuesday, right? No hours are posted on their site and I know they used to be closed those days.

I believe they are open on Monday and Tuesday evenings, although DeeDee food truck out back is closed on Monday and Tuesday all day.

I went to Whisler's and had one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had…read more I had one drink. I was completely sober for all intents and purposes. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

We're big fans of sitting at the bar if available, so we asked to switch and it was no problem. The main reason we came to Trona was due to a pop-up happening by Foodie + Tina. Excellent handrolls, crudo and even the chicory salad was amazing. The cocktails we tried were new to the menu as of this week and came with Christmas flair. They were good but not mind-blowing. The bartenders were super nice and easy to talk to. It was really dark which is normal for a speakeasy but as another reviewer suggested, makes it difficult to read the menu. One thing I noticed was they were burning white copal and it took me immediately to Tulum, MX - smells so good! Parking was easy, in an alley nearby. It might be helpful for customers if they had signage in/near the parking lot - we were unsure if we were in the right spot initially.
