Yes- Melissa sells Mary Kay. That said, if I scheduled a comparable make-over at the MAC counter, I would have to comit to $50 in products and there wouldn't be any cupcakes, champagne and cute little beauty stations all set up for me and my friends. I used the online deal too and only three of us could make it- this proved to be great for us since we had twice the cupcakes and champagne AND were still given the entire amount of time. I guess it ended up working out to just over $15 a person, but since the free cream eyeshadow in the gift box is $15, we broke about even. We had a great time, start to finish and while I was there with great girlfriends this time, I would have just as good a time if I had been there for a make-up class with people I had never met. Melissa is very friendly and sets a comfortable atmosphere so there is never any akwardness. Ok- As an aside, I just have to say I LOVE Mary Kay! I walked in thinking I was going to get a make-over with "Grandma" make-up because that's who used it- Grandmas right? OH NO! We were walked though this skincare routine and let me tell you, I have used it all and bought it all and after just the first 20 minutes the side of my face where we applied all of the skincare products was NOTICABLY lifted. Not just on me, but on all three of us. I took step by step pics to document and I am so glad I did because you can literally see the difference. I bought the $90 set and have been using it for 1 full week. My skin has NEVER looked so good and it feels good too. Best $90 I have ever spent. I also bought the make up and powder that she used thinking it was going to end up in the giant pile of make up and powder I allready have, but I have used it every day. It is so light that I forget I have it on. Usually when I wear liquid make-up I keep scratching and rubbing my face because I don't like the feel and my hands stay coated in oily make-up residue. What can I say! Other than this is a WASTE OF MONEY! AND shame on you Melissa. We attended with a friend who invited us for the evening. First we were late because the location was almost impossible to find, yet once we walked in, she was clearly upset and made a comment she wanted to hurry because she wanted to go home to her kids. One glass of champagne, and a cupcake is technically what we paid for! SHE IS A MARY KAY CONSULTANT!!!! This is not mentioned in the groupon deal. GUESS WHAT? I am a MARY KAY consultant as well and never informed her. haha! You should never have to pay to try MARY KAY! Yes, her suite is pretty in pink! But for how fancy it is, why were using our finger to apply our foundation??? Why were we using a cotton ball to apply mineral powder OURSELVES!???? Not to mention the colors she chose on each of us was horrific!!!!!!! She used a purple lipgloss on me, I'm super fair. She used red lipstick on my friend who was wearing red. I quickly took what I had off and thank Goodness I had brought my own Mary Kay color that fit me best. And yes, she never once mentioned to us what colors she was using. She was also rude!! Then the sales pitch came!!!! She pulled out the travel tote filled with all the most popular items. And thought we would walk out spending over $200 in items! Definitely wasn't a make over, wasn't a fun girls night out because she made us all feel uncomfortable. Now lets talk about the goodie bag. A hershey kiss, a business card, a sample lipstick and a limited edition eye liner that I cant even purchase anymore not to mention it would be more like a stocking stuffer than to be considered a FULL SIZE PRODUCT!!!! Again, shame on you Melissa for ripping people off. Clearly we did a re-do in the privacy of our friends home that was local, wine and tons of it, a cupcake, we were never rushed, and guess what I applied all products to the ladies and actually made them feel pampered. You are PAYING TO HOST a "Mary Kay party" in the Glam Factory's setting without getting the benefits of hosting a Mary Kay party. Look at the Mary Kay website and see what you receive if you host a party - discounts on products; earn free products, VIP perks, special offers. You are paying for the champagne & cupcakes which you can supply in your home at a party and get the benefits of hosting a party. As with all Mary Kay party's the sales consultants don't do a professional makeup application they provide you with instruction and direction to do your own skin care and makeup application with some help in the application by Melissa. SO YOU ARE NOT GETTING your make up APPLIED or a professional makeover as implied in the Living Social deal. Even on the website it states - "Receive a makeup lesson and application for you and 5 of your friends. During this 2 hour private event, enjoy champagne (ages 21+) and cupcakes, as well as a goody bag for each person filled with full sized products, samples and treats! I wasn't too excited about "Glam Time" when my friend told me she got a deal for some girl time at the Glam Factory. I've never had anybody actually teach me how to take care of my skin and put on makeup before. Melissa is very knowledgeable and I felt like everything she taught me, I would be able to do on my own - that was shocking but exciting too! On top of that, we had so much fun sipping Champagne (my favorite) and eating cute cupcakes. I was excited to find a couple of products that I wanted that day, were available for sale. The whole time Melissa didn't push anything on us, and I didn't know she was selling anything until the end when I asked where I could get the stuff. The goodie bags were a bonus! I rented the Glam Factory for a birthday party and LOVED it! Even though it was situated in an industrial area, it was like a hidden treasure with chandeliers and hard-wood floors. This quaint spot for a party was ideal. The little touches like candelabras and ornate mirrors really put the finishing touches on the place. It was definitely priced great for the size compared to what's out there. I loved that Melissa confirmed a week before via email and called the day before to make sure everything was set. The Glam Factory is a magnificent gem in the city of Long Beach. I feel like I escape from the world for a little while and have a little bit of girly fun when I go there! Found an amazing Living Social deal for Ladies Night Out for a 2 hour makeup session with 6 girlfriends and Melissa at The Glam Factory was FANTASTIC!!! I had planned an entire Bachelorette Party around this and she was very accommodating! The music, champagne and cupcakes kept us busy while the other girls got their make-up done! One section of the room has great lighting and a cute backdrop for photos plus the pink feather boas were a glamorous touch! What an amazing place, beautifully decorated, nice space, good location. Any girl should walk in and feel like a princess! Melissa did my bridal makeup and I loved it! I gave my friend a Bridal Shower at this center and it was so beautiful. I was very impress with Melissa because she was professional and her pricing was reasonable. It's a perfect place for a small function with about 50 people or less. I would definitely used this place again, It's so adorable, don't need much decorations. read more
