The Gold Room is literally as it sounds, stunning! A beautiful space tucked inside the Lotte Palace. Timeless glamour describes its decor and excellent service. The staff is very polite, well dressed, and very attentive. The menu is quite a read... so much to choose from. I came here for drinks after work one night and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. I pictured a pretentious vibe but instead felt warm and cozy. There are different little pockets of places to sit, think at the bar, side tables with oversized leather chairs, but I opted for a small table with banquette seating on one side since it was two of us. The tables are decorated with a mini vase and a lamp for light as it is dimly lit here. The menu has cocktails starting at $24-$40 and a lot of wine selections. Glass and bottle options. The small bites menu did not disappoint. In fact, it was quite hard to decide what to get but we know we wanted something to snack on with our fantastic cocktails, "Mutauhito" which was a Japanese Gin, yuzu, jasmine tea, aquafaba and blossom. We chose the cheese plate which was a very pretty board. Filled to the edges with nuts, fig jam, honey, 5 cheese varieties and other accompaniments (fruit). Warm sliced baguettes served on the side. I would totally return for an after work drink, a small social gathering or just as a place to chill before commuting home (steps from Grand Central). Just bring cash or card, it is quite pricey.

My fiend and I went there for an evening cocktail and a snack. We didn't have a reservation, but since my friend and her husband were staying at the hotel, we were able to get a table. Seems like if you don't have a reservation during the busy hours, you might not get a table. The inside was beautiful and elegant. All the history behind the room is interesting from what I heard. I ordered Mrs. Astor Cocktail, and it was pretty good. A bit too sweet but that was ok. My friend wanted Tuna Tartar, so we got that as well. It came with bagel chip which was fun. What the menu didn't mention was that it had a spicy pepper that was cut up. My friend couldn't do spicy food, and although I enjoy spicy food, it was quite spicy for me too. So we had to pick at it and remove all the small red bits off it. I think that should've been indicated on the menu... Other than that, we did enjoy the tuna tartar, it was fresh and tasty. We had a nice time there.

Found this place after searching for cocktail bars nearby after dinner. It was located inside of a hotel. Beautiful gold room. Got seats right at the bar so it was perfect. I would've given five stars but had a very weird encounter with the bartender. We sit down and are given menus. There's an empty seat next to his and another couple. My partner walks away to go to the restroom and some new patrons walk in looking for a place to sit. They asked our bar tender if the seats were available and I told them the one closest to me was unavailable. The bar tender looks at me and asked "someone is sitting there? where are they?" I respond "the restroom" he then turns to them and says "no one is sitting there" and proceeds to put menus down. BRUH. I was bewildered. So I instead looked at the couple and said someone was sitting there and continued looking at the menu because I wasn't sure if he was hard of hearing, a bigot or just lacked customer service skills but it was Valentine's Day, I just had an amazing dinner and all I wanted was a nightcap. THEN I put my AMEX down, go to the restroom and return to my partner telling me my card was declined and he had to use his. VERY CONFUSED. There's no reason for my card to be declined, I didn't receive a notification from AMEX saying it was declined and it worked perfectly fine the next day. Beautiful venue. Not the most welcoming environment. Cocktails were just OK. Probably wouldn't return or recommend.

Never had a bad experience here, ever. I always sit at the bar, and the bartenders are AMAZING. Very attentive, fun and incredibly nice. And they make a mean martini :-) They do not open until 5pm, and highly suggest if you want a seat at the bar - - get there when they open. Hard to get a seat or a table in middle of happy hour times. If you want a true classic NYC luxurious spot, look no more. If you also go during holiday times, the tree and holiday decor are completely iconic. They also have a fantastic hot chocolate bar outside in the courtyard to warm up and enjoy the decor

It was our first time visiting Gold Room and staying at the hotel. Jose Arbona was our bar tender and he was amazing. Most serving, kind and joyful spirit and he has amazing people skills --he truly made our stay great, and if a manager see's this... the man deserves a raise. Thank you for such a great experience!

Was here yesterday, Was really hard to get in. Only because we had a contact we were able to get in. Honestly I thought was going to be an amazing experience but the place is not even that wow, it's very small and didn't feel Christmasy , our waitress never came back after she dropped off the food and we wanted to order croissants or the cinnamon roll so we ended up not ordering and left. The food did taste really good I got the short rib with poach egg

What an amazing location to grab a cocktail and gawk at all the beauty in this room. It's like you step back into time. The truffle fries are the perfect mix to end your night.

Wow, this place is stunning! Located inside the Palace Hotel, just off to the right, up the staircase when you walk in. I showed up at 5:05pm (they open at 5pm) and the entire place was already filled. I managed to squeeze into a seat at the bar. I am unsure if they take reservations. The space isn't too big but they do have a lot of tables and the bar seating. The staff at the bar were very kind with good sense of humors. It felt like hanging out with old friends sitting up there with them. I had The End drink and a cheese plate. The drink was awesome. The cheese plate was very good but one of the more expensive cheese plates I've had around town (I think it's like $42). There was other food on the menu that looked good too. The noise level in the bar was just right, not too loud and not too quiet. It had a lively, energetic vibe to it. This also feels like a very old New York spot. Don't forget to look up and appreciate the stunning architecture in here. I'm sure there's a bathroom here but I didn't have to use it so can't comment on it. Very nice place to come for a quick drink alone or with friends. I made friends with another person who was there alone. They ordered a Manhattan but they were not happy with it as they felt it was too bitter. I'm not a Manhattan drinker but this person said compared to other Manhattans they've had, this one was not for them. I had an awesome time and made some new friends. While the decor of the bar may feel intimidating, with its luxe environment, I didn't feel like this bar was pretentious at all. I've definitely been to other bars that do carry an air of pretentiousness but this one was refreshingly not like that. On that note, I didn't observe a dress code being enforced here. There were many tourist folks here in jeans etc. I personally showed up in my work clothes but didn't feel over or under dressed either.

Cocktails at the exquisite Gold Room at the Lotte Hotel (formerly the Helmsley Palace). The bar was part of the original gilded age mansion designed by Stanford White in 1882.

What a sexy space! It's gold and dark and elegant and historic and mysterious all at once. Oh, and they pour great drinks. The BEST Manhattan of my life. Ever so subtle spice. We were guests of the Lotte hotel, where the bar is housed. But I would certainly come here were that not the case. If you are near Saks/St Patrick's Cathedral and looking for a cool gathering spot, this is it.

While staying in New York City for two nights at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel before boarding Insignia, Diane and I ate breakfast here twice. The Gold Room is an elegant and classy dining room. When we were there, stylishly dressed waiters shared service at individual tables. The first time, famished from flying all night without a meal, I had an American Breakfast of two Sunnyside Up Eggs with Bacon and Roasted Potatoes, along with Smoked Salmon with a Bagel and Cream Cheese. On the next occasion I finished off an American Breakfast of Scrambled Eggs and Sausage Links. All ingredients were of high quality, and all dishes were well prepared. Meanwhile, Diane ordered Brioche French Toast, which she liked. Prices seemed high, but not really for New York City!

The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
