I ordered the Strawberry Rhubarb Tart, which is supposed to have "rhubarb and vanilla-infused Tito's vodka", but I believe they were out of that, so I watched him add some regular vodka. I love coming by for a drink during the holiday season because The Plaza always looks amazing. However, if you're a non-guest, the experience can be...frustrating. This is the second year in a row where I've had issues. The four of us arrived just before 5pm, and there were several open tables. In spite of this, we had to wait 35 minutes to be seated at...you guessed it, one of those open tables. It took forever to get someone to come over, and I went 0/2 on availability of glasses of champagne, leaving me with fewer reasonable options than I would have hoped. We asked for the bill when we ordered the drinks, and even then, it didn't come for a while. Prices aside, I left annoyed. So, if The Champagne Bar is a must-visit, be aware. If not, there's plenty of other cocktail bars nearby that'll have better service. read more

This is not The Plaza of old. Most of the original rooms have been sold to individual owners with the hotel operation itself reduced significantly. That said The Champagne Bar which has been developed in the small new hotel lobby and front desk area should not be overlooked. My wife and I hadn't eaten at The Plaza in a long time and decided to give it a try. We were very glad we did. We both had Caesar salads followed by the ribeye steaks. Both courses were delicious and the service was very attentive. Not cheap, but what is in NYC? Atmosphere was very nice and the people from curb to table couldn't have been friendlier and warmer. We will return and enjoy this restaurant again on a future visit to the Big Apple. read more

My mom and I recently went to the Champagne Bar inside the Plaza Hotel to enjoy some champagne and the beautiful Christmas decorations during the holiday season. We split the silver champagne tasting flight. The champagne was delicious and we were given olives and nuts as a complimentary bar snack to enjoy while we tasted the champagne. We were both surprised at how large the pours were, full glasses of each rather than tasting portions of each. The servers were kind, but service was slow (we definitely weren't rushed out of there which was nice but we had to flag someone down to get our bill). But I'm not too keen on food at The Champagne Bar, which is located off the main lobby of the hotel and where we ate for a light dinner. Service was very good and attentive. You can't fault the wait staff. The eating area is understated elegance with plush couches, marble table tops, and great lighting. Sitting in the space feels like a special event. The food is fine but extremely overpriced for merely okay, which is forcing me to give three stars for the first time ever. And I'm very generous with my stars! My veggie sandwich was delicious but very small. Not enough to sate anybody's hunger. The French onion soup was good too. But both dishes seemed like they should be half the price of what I was charged because the cost didn't seem to justify the okay quality of the food. Drinks are overpriced too. But you are paying for something: the ambiance of the hotel. But you can't eat ambiance for dinner. Even if you are flush with money, you're better off eating somewhere else like a neighborhood diner or a hotdog cart. If you are willing to spend this much money, you should instead consult the Michelin Guide. There are a couple of stellar Michelin restaurants in NYC with the same price points as the Champagne Bar. read more

Was there last week, sat at the bar for a drink. Had the most horrendous Aperol Spritz's. 30 dollars each. He opened a fresh bottle after making ours. Then my other friend also ordered a glass of Rose, was flat and gross. Bill came to $108 because of course for 3 drinks an 18 percent tip is automatically included in a place like this. Never again. Fabulous Monday afternoon tea after a loooong early morning flight from Texas. Understandably, my room wasn't ready at 12 Noon, so I indulged in a champagne and afternoon tea service. The service and cuisine are 5 star. The last afternoon tea I enjoyed was pre-pandemic at Raffles Hotel in Singapore. So my expectations were high and this exceeded all thoughts! If you are gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian or have specific allergies, the chef accommodates- I have an egg sensitivity so the treats were egg-free and scrumptious! I will return soon! We stayed in the Plaza and we wanted to grab some small bites and drinks here before dinner. The hostess was quite rude. She gave us very few seating options. When we were finally seated, it took 10 min just to place our drink orders. We tried to wave at someone to place our order and were ignored. Our server Nick was not friendly at all. He was short with us and made the experience unpleasant. We were not excited by this bar. The music and ambience is nice, but service is sub par at best. Having a drink in the famous Plaza hotel at the Champagne Bar is a unique experience. The hotel has fallen from its peak with some amenities shuttered but the Champagne Bar remains a must go. My girlfriend and I have gone every now and then when in NYC and we always enjoy sitting at the bar and talking with Russell, our favorite bartender. Russel always makes the visit welcome and engaging, while having some really well made cocktails. Food is also solid and service is always attentive. I rarely give bad reviews, but the plaza champagne bar left me no choice. I have never before felt discriminated against based on how I'm dressed and what I look like until I arrived here. I had been excited to get a champagne flight at the plaza champagne bar for months while planning my trip to NYC and I specifically emailed them ahead of time to ask whether they are open to children. They assured me that children are always welcome and that they have high chairs. They also specified that the bar is walk in only with no reservations accepted. This was fine because I intended in going on a Monday at 5 pm which I figured would be a low volume time. Flash forward to when we arrive. It's pouring rain outside. The hotel employees at the front door did not even want to let us in with the wagon. Finally I entered with my toddler to check for availability at the bar. There, despite the fact that there were many empty tables, an employee told me they did not have room for us-- that all the tables were reserved for hotel guests (despite the no reservation policy). I tried to mention that we would likely only take an hour and that we travelled specifically to come there, but they still turned us away, back into the rain. I am convinced if I had come without children and dressed fancier, they would have let me in, but instead they turned away a paying customer for the possibility of no customers. Needless to say the Plaza will not be getting our patronage ever again. We have no need for a place that thinks it's too good for our family. read more

It was suggested I visit The Champagne Bar at The Plaza Hotel while I was in New York City. The Champagne Bar is in the lower level lobby. Beautiful setting where we sipped some very expensive glasses of champagne. Larry took care of us providing wonderful service. Upon being seated, se were presented with a trio of dark pistachio chocolate and two different nuts. We decided to have a bite to eat with our champagne and shared a meat platter, cheese platter and tuna tartare. The tuneup was very fresh served with avocado and micro greens with thin crackers on the side. Both the cheese platter and meat platter had generous portions of four different types of cheeses and four different types of meats. They were both served with perfectly grilled bread. The cheese and meat platters were certainly worth the money charged. The champagne was $30+ a glass and was a little too pricey seeing what a bottle of Vueve Cliquot Rose costs. When all was said and done, the cost of two glasses of champagne along with the cheese, meat and tuna dishes was $200. Of course, you're paying for the ambience and experience, and I enjoyed every minute of it! If I ever get to New York again, I would love to do high tea at The Plaza. read more
