If you like undercooked food this is your place. I ordered a burger medium and it came out rare. Management tried arguing with me and said ,"thats what we consider medium". Burger temps aren't not based off opinion, they are based off temperature... they took the burger back and threw the same patty on the grill and gave it back to me. The picture I added was taken after they cooked it for a second time, and it still wasn't cooked to medium. It's extremely frustrating when the management argues with a customer. They had the coolest salt and pepper shakers!!! The server was sweet and prompt. The food was tasteless. Duck wings were the best, but heavy sweet syrup and not a lot of duck meat. Barratta was horrible. $6 for table bread. Lamb shank was dry. Couldn't finish the meal. Drink was light. Wines were ok. Ambiance was as expected. He checked on us throughout the experience and gave incredible recommendations as my friends & I were visiting from out of town. The interior is clean and very comfortable!! Everything on the menu looked delicious, but the elk was a MUST try. My friend got the elk sandwich which was incredibly flavorful and the sauce they used on it...sooo delicious. We were able to get seated right away for our 5:45pm reservation. Asked for a few recommendations from the menu and ended up loving the food. The trout is amazing - crisp skin, flavorful but not overpowering sauce, moist flesh. Hubby loved the game meatloaf - didn't tasty gamey and was a think slice. We used to really love this restaurant but the service and food have gone way downhill. Tonight, I chose to celebrate my birthday here and we ordered appetizers which were only decent and then when the meals came my mom's salmon was completely raw inside and my trout was hard on the outside and mushy and raw on the inside. We were so turned off from this that we decided to get the check and leave. Our server, Denise approached us and brought menus and told us of specials not on the menu and took beverage order. Hubby and I had dinner at Golden Eagle Inn again during our ski trip this year in early March. Nothing fancy at this joint but food is decent, plus good and fast service. We ordered the Baked Brie for appetizer. Hubby had the Grilled Shrimp & Wild Mushroom Risotto which was very tasty and my Gnocchi of Sweet Potato was delicious. It was such a strong review, I couldn't pass it up. So I tried it, and it was amazing. I didn't put it down. Consequently, you're not going to see a pic of it because I ate it too fast. But... trust me, trust him. You won't be disappointed. I also had the duck wings. My only criticism of them is they only come in 4 to an order. They have a little heat but nothing to slow you down even if you don't like spice. Lastly, check out this bourbon selection. Like real, hard to find, rare bourbons. We stopped in for a late lunch on Monday and glad we did. We were quickly seated and glasses of water came shortly afterward. We both ordered the angus beef hamburger. Both were cooked perfectly as requested and the cheese was nicely melted. They were a served hot and on a fresh bun. The sandwich was very filling. Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon while in Avon in August. We did have a larger party but, there were many open tables on the patio, allowing us to sit right away. We ordered a few different menu items-- fun for variety. I got the elk tacos (unfortunately they were pretty dry), two people got the half grilled cheese & soup combo (which both came out as full sandwiches) and two got the kale salad (which looked like springs mix not kale) and a burger (no condiments were offered). All in all, the waitress was a bit distracted/ not too interested in how things were going/if we needed anything which, made the experience weird/frustrating. Maybe it was just because we got it takeout, but that elk chili was very disappointing, especially with the rave reviews on yelp. So, so watery and bland - maybe the mix today was off - I want to believe it was, because its consistency and taste was as if it were 80% water, and despite getting the bowl size we drank it down in minutes. On a good note, each portion had a massive piece of juicy tomato, but seemed to skimp on the elk, cheese, and quantity overall, as it paled in comparison to pictures on yelp. I understand it's an appetizer and isn't expected to fill you up, but I didn't expect to be starving afterwards. Had a spoonful of chili my mom got from the Powder Kitchen and Tap nearby, which was creamy, a much heftier portion, filled to the brim with meat, and probably a couple bucks more expensive. If you take away anything from this, DINE IN! I can't speak to the experience inside, but if I ever come back, it won't be to take my food and go. read more
