Golden Mill is unlike anything I've experienced before! The concept is really unique and made for a fun visit. The downstairs outdoor patio is pet friendly, which was perfect for us and Luna. (The upstairs patio is not pet friendly because that's where the sushi bar is located.) The staff does a great job staying on top of clearing dishes and wiping down tables, so everything stayed clean despite how busy it was. When you arrive, they check your ID, stamp your hand to show you're 21+, and give you a card that's used throughout your visit. Every drink and food station scans your card, and drinks are charged by the ounce, so you can pour as little or as much as you'd like. They even have pre-salted glasses ready for margaritas! If you're unsure how the system works, staff members are nearby and happy to help. The food selection is impressive. There are several vendors offering everything from sushi and burgers to mac and cheese, Mexican food, ice cream, and more, so there's something for everyone. We ordered the loaded nachos, which came with chili, cheese, corn, and pico de gallo. They were really good, although I think they would have been even better with a side of guacamole and sour cream. The outdoor seating area has plenty of tables, lots of fans, and covered sections that provide welcome relief from the Colorado sun. The views are another highlight--you can overlook Clear Creek with the mountains in the background, and even see the Coors Brewery from the patio. This is a real toss up for me. We were with a visitor who had been there when in Golden for a conference and thought we would like the concept of a food hall and like the sort of food she had there in the past. I am familiar with food halls at home in Boulder that I like and frequent regularly. This was nothing like them in so many ways. It was obvious that this is lived locally but in a holiday it was so ham packed that it was unpleasant for a newcomer to negotiate. Yes, for beer lovers the concept of self serve from the many taps and pay by the ounce Baxter so many in stock is novel, but I don't drink beer or margaritas and I could not find a simple ice tea. There were sodas from a machine which also did not suit me either. The concept of the scan card seems good for the cafeteria atmosphere and the beer supply but the food places did take credit cards, where at least you see the receipt etc. you leave the card in a box when you leave and they charge the credit card you entered to get it. No real review apparently by the customer. Most of the food I saw in menus and the tables were not my style either, huge portions of mediocre looking food. My husband had trouble figuring it part of the ingredient in the biggest burrito I have ever seen. He could not pick it up fore the crema decorating the tortilla which was thicker than any I've ever seen. On the other hand, my food was fairly good though grease dripped out at every bite. It was a Gordita made with crisp little corn cakes and the al pastor filling was tasty. The others in the group all had large portions of unappealing to me food so I did not taste and far too. Big for a healthy lunch. While we were eating at compared communal tables , the restrooms across from them were propped open for the steady stream of users. But on a holiday weekend a prime lunch time when we arrived, it was the only option. The entry line to get the pay card was nearby and the line went up the stairs to the entry with at least 20 to get and register the card, many with children in tow. Our guest knew where to park so that was no problem jf you are willing to pay to park for a meal. We were, but would have lived a quality meal and not a madhouse. The only staff person I spoke with because her food was dessert and not peak season for ice cream was so friendly and helpful and mad a custom snack size of her New Zeland style treat. She saved the day for me. I will not return but others in our party might should the occasion arise and clearly the locals who are regulars keep them well supported. I was recommended the golden mill by many people when visiting golden and had to give a try! On first glance, it is located right along the river that goes through the town, which is an amazing view. Once inside there is a first floor that has a few different food options as well as the pour your own beer options as well. In order to partake in the beer option, you need to get a card that you can tap to the machine and you pay per the ounce. They have other drinks beside beer on tap as well such as different types of cocktails. They have a great food selection. That includes many different varieties of food throughout the venue as well. The top floor also has a few additional beer options as well as food options. I decided to go with a barbecue option which I got a brisket sandwich which was really good as well as a side of fries and some of the barbecue sauce. I also got a beer on top from one of the local breweries. It was a chilly day out, but I still wanted to sit on the patio on the top deck, so we sat by a fireplace. They have a ton of different fireplaces, all throughout the top deck as well as the lower deck as well so sitting outside was an option for the time of the year that I was there which was March. Maybe in the dead of the winter they don't have this option but just keep that in mind. Anyways, I thought the view of the course brewery factory right across the way was really cool to see as well. The food was really good and I love getting beer by the ounce because if you don't like the beer, you can just get a different one and you don't have to make a whole glass pour every time you get one. I definitely would recommend the golden mill. It definitely seems like a place that a lot of locals hang out and there is a food or beverage option for everyone so even picky eaters would love this place. Missed the mark a bit. But their ice cream. I love New Zealand style ice cream, and while it's not commonly found, they 100% have it here. So smooth, creamy, and delicious. DO NOT GO HERE. The system they have set up is an absolute joke. Rather than using your card, they give you an alternative card that you use that's tied to your credit card. It makes no sense at all. With this card you go up and pour your own drinks and walk up to get your own food, rather than it being served to you. And the worst part is that they charge an "18% service fee". You heard that right, an 18% fee for you to serve yourself. The experience was horrible, too - to get a drink, you walk up to a crowded wall of beer taps and hope that you don't waste your money pouring a cup of foam, since they charge by the ounce. The food was absolutely horrible too. I ordered a burrito and it was filled with corn, peas, carrots, and cabbage. IN A BURRITO. It also completely fell apart. This place is as low effort as it gets, the atmosphere is horrible, the service is horrible since there literally was no service, the food sucked, and on top of it all you get charged an 18% service fee. Often when I watch videos on social media of what to do in Golden they recommend stopping at the Golden Mill, so I figured we go check it out! It's a great place to come with groups. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and has two floors. It has a mini food hall feel since here are multiple different areas for food options. On the bottom floor there is Mexican, American food, and ice cream. On the top floor there is a Japanese restaurant. Both floors have taps of beers, though the first floor has much more options including cocktails and wine. I got the loaded fries and a wedge salad. Both were good! Might as well just try to look for parking on the street if available the parking for the Golden Mill is a few blocks away from the establishment. They've got lots of merch for sale on the first floor. The reason that I did not rate them higher is because their prices are high compared to if you were eating at another establishment. On top of that they have a 18% gratuity charge when everything is self-serve. I guess they are hoping people don't notice? Just seems pretty greedy. Unique location that works when everyone wants to eat something different and try drinks. They have indoor (that you can reserve for events?), outdoor, and upstairs seating where you can watch Clear Creek, hide under sails, and get misted on a hot day. From what I remember the majority is benches and stools so keep that in mind if you have a bad back or maybe try the rooftop (there is an elevator up if needed or two staircases) which I think had more back support. When you come in, check in at the counter with the merch right of the drinks and left of the ice cream/bbq/dog vending machine area to get your Golden Mills card- especially if you are getting drinks you may get a stamp as well. The drinks are only via GM card but the Japanese (and maybe other food places) station can be GM or card. It will tally throughout your trip and when you are done you can put the GM card in the box to tab out but if you forget all open tabs are closed at the end of the night. To get the drinks, there is a variety of glasses and there are two stations upstairs - with a smaller one- and downstairs with different drinks. For people that want to try a little bit of everything this drink system can be great! For better or for worse they swap out flavors as well so it may be different when you come back. Downstairs will usually have a couple of ciders, beer, and cocktails in addition to a coke machine. You place your card on the reader and pour how much or as little as you want--and you can even mix (I've added a bit of sprite to a cocktail) them. (Tip: don't forget the ice- it's free) Tip: with the coke machine it can be hard to get the card out but as long as you don't pour it doesn't count $. I've had a 0.00$ pop up on the machine too many times). Upstairs is the same process with different drinks. I believe they still had beers, cocktails and wines but for example they had the sake upstairs near the sushi vs downstairs. At the sushi place they have more variety of items but I've just created my own poke bowl. To do so take one of the dry erase markers with the leaves on it and mark up a laminated poke menu/menu and then get in line. They usually are around 20$ for me which depending on your poke experience can be normal-more expensive. The fish (tuna) has tasted fresh when I have gone and with nice flavors and textures. read more

They also have lots of different food options and beer and I'd love to go in for a beer as soon as I am no longer breastfeeding 24/7. I took my son to happy cones which we had been to their location in Edgewater before and they have great ice cream. I was shocked that a single scoop of chocolate ice cream with no toppings and a cake cone was almost $7.50. The views are outstanding. There is a lot of space to sit/hangout with friends. They have a rooftop, indoor space, and patio. There are plenty of fire pits and heaters for the colder days. They make it super easy (maybe too easy) to pay for beer and food by linking your credit card to a golden mill card that you scan for beer/food. Pouring your own beer/cider/cocktails is a fun experience. We got tacos from Taco El Chile. The corn guac was delicious, however, the guac was served underneath all the chips, making it difficult to get to. We each had two tacos. I ordered a pork rojo taco, that had a very weird taste to it. May just be a preference thing, as my husband liked it and finished it for me. Cool place, like a food hall with self-serve beer. Not much seating inside, mostly outside so great for summer but limited spots inside for winter. There's a few options for food here, including chicken, burgers, bbq, sushi, ice cream, and pizza I think. I went to the bbq spot and got a few meats and mac n cheese. The bbq was ok, didn't hit the spot quite as other bbq restaurants but it filled me up! I do like that I was able to just pour myself a half pint of beer. I didn't really want more than that.
