The reason we visit here is for their mochi. The mochi is some of the best I've ever had, and I have been to Japan to try theirs. The flavors are chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, and azuki bean (red bean). I'm not a peanut butter fan nor chocolate, so I just ate the red bean mochi. The mochi is so soft and the red bean filling is not too sweet and filled with a good amount of it. Since it is a family business, the hours are fluctuate constantly. Their little store is small, but mighty and the service is nothing short of spectacular. What *I think* they're mostly known for is their gift baskets/boxes. When holidays, birthdays, special occasions roll around, Lee Bear is such a great place to find an assortment of goodies for friends and loved ones. Their gift baskets are filled with treats like candies, Maui Cookkwees, gourmet cookies and rice krispies that have been dipped in a rich, decadent chocolate coating; freshly hand-dipped in their store to ensure high quality flavor. My favorite is the white chocolate covered pretzels with rice krispies, marshmallows, etc. SO good. It's the first thing I call dibs on when I see it. Haha! Just recently, I stopped in when my little one suggested we make lollipops. They had a wide selection of molds, gel food coloring, candy thermometer, basically everything and anything we needed. They even sold the white chocolate covered rice krispy treat by the package! It's a bit of a splurge, but I like what I like and will pay for it... lol. I tried an edible arrangement but they would not deliver it to Maui hospital. I was able to get a hold of the kind lady from Lee Bear and although it was after hours, she took the time to talk to me. She listened to my situation and kindly took down my information and when she went to the store the next day, she made my order and delivered it to the hospital!! What amazing service! This is a prime example of living aloha!! I cannot even say how much I appreciated what she had done for me and how much it meant to me. After shopping with family, we stopped here. They have been here lots of times, for me, my first time. They came here specifically for the icee floats. For me, it was all about the ice cream. The store is very clean and they had several friendly, young staff working behind the counter. I had such a hard time deciding which flavors I wanted. I love Dave's because they have so many local flavors. They even have sugar-free ice cream in a couple of basic flavors. The young lady even offered if I wanted to sample any. I finally decided on a scoop of kulolo ice cream and a scoop of toasted macadamia nut. Both of these I had never tried. It was awesome. There are some benches just outside the store so we planted ourselves on one of them and enjoyed our snacks. Glad that Kaunakakai has this snack shop, a place that deserves repeat business.
