I went in since the door was unlocked and the guy in the shop said they were closed. Just reopened today! I rarely eat sweets but this place is the spot in Maui! I'm dairy free so I'm a big fan of their house made sorbets. The Lilikoi sorbet is the best I've had in my life. Got the perfect texture and flavor. Tastes super natural and not overly sweet, not overly sour. It's got the perfect balance. Same with the Açaí dragonfruit sorbet and the coconut ginger. After reading other reviews we came here because we saw an extensive menu of dairy free/vegan selections that seemed to be available. Their yelp listing said "vegan and dairy free" available. Unfortunately this is not really the case. Out of the entire shop you can get a scoop of lilikoi or mango sorbet for $9.00. Rather spendy for frozen disappointment. It was ok sorbet, but i can get that anywhere. Despite their yelp listing this is apparently not a vegan friendly establishment. Cannot recommend. read more

Fantastic little ice cream shop, super creamy and unique flavors but something for everyone. We sampled a few. My husband said the fruity pebbles was one of the best ice creams he's ever had. I loved the mint chip - it's very minty with tons of chocolate chips. We will definitely seek this out on future visits. I also really appreciated how attentive the girls working were to my peanut allergy, recommending flavors that were less likely to have cross contamination, and that each flavor had its own designated scoop. This place is very interesting. The ice cream itself is very unique with flavors I've never heard, such as banana pretzel crunch. I got that and it was very good, very flavorful. The downside was the location wasn't the greatest. The store was located in some plaza which was fine, but after my family and I ordered and went outside, there was a bunch of people smoking right next to the store. We came here after dinner as it is a short walk from the main downtown of Kihei. It's tucked back behind the Taco Bell and is open pretty late. There were a few parties sitting outside enjoying their treats when we walked up as there is no indoor seating. The interior is pretty small and they sell other things beside ice cream, including candy and drinks. They were good about sampling and our kids settled on their flavors quickly. It seemed to be ice cream not made in-house, but it still hit the spot and the service was quick and friendly. It was reasonably priced and we enjoyed outside at our table that was easily available. She handled it well and them there is line and continued to serve them and apologized to us. We were happy to wait. The ube ice cream was delicious. I got large and I barely ate half of it. Maui Sweet Shoppe is a sweet little gem near the Regency Theater in Kihei. They make several flavors of gelato and sorbet every day. They also have Dole Whip and a store full of candy and other delicious yumminess. This trip we had mango, pineapple, chocolate, lilikoi and banana cream gelato and of course, Dole Whip! The store is small but there really is an incredible selection. My pics will show some of it. My choice for today was a hand packed pint of chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream. The chocolate ice cream is delicious and the vast quantity of reeses pieces gave it a nice crunch and that burst of peanut butter flavor. My list "must try" grows every time I look at the menu. When we entered the building there were several people in line but the line moved fairly quickly. On the window side it is lined with different candies that are local and imported. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. The ice cream was delicious. Just be aware that the math doesn't "math" real well. We ordered a medium ice cream cone but were charged for a large. I also got 3 little boxes of candy that were listed as 3/0.99 and when we were rung up I was charged $4.50 for it. I asked and the employee said "I know it just says that". I assume some of this is due to importing and the cost but that seems a little hefty considering you can get the candy at a gas station for a lot less. read more
