I had to come in and give my kudos for The Good Dog Shoppe. I was planning to go out of town and needed to get my baby's nails trimmed. But no other pet grooming salons were available within such short notice. I still called and left a message and a day later, Raven called and said she had an opening that afternoon. I rushed over and was able to get my pup in that afternoon. An hour later, he was sparkling, happy and super clean. She used some type of deshedding on him and I've honestly never seen him that clean, either at home or at PetCo, where I usually take him. I'll will definitely be booking with Raven again. On top of that, the store looked was super cute with competitive pricing on all items. I didn't get anything that time but I will shop with them again next time I visit. I have been a customer of The Good Dog Shoppe since a few days after they first opened their doors. There has always been a fantastic selection of items and there is plenty of advice from the staff to help you decide what products are right for your dog or cat. Owner, Regina, is one of the most knowledgeable and caring people you can find anywhere and, especially in the last few years, she has assembled an amazing team. You won't feel pressured when you walk into the store but you will be acknowledged and made to feel welcome. I had a dog who had severe dietary restrictions due to a history of repeated episodes of pancreatitis and eventually, diabetes. The staff at TGDS, helped me find the best daily food for him that was low in fats and carbs but still full of nutrients. Now, with an aging smaller dog who is going through some back issues, I have gone in for recommendations of things to try to help her and they have worked. Are you looking for a gift for a dog or cat lover in your life? You can find wonderful, unique gifts here. Are you looking for grooming service? They have that too. . Bring your dog when you go shopping, they are welcomed and given lots of attention Finally, as examples of how far above and beyond the folks at the Good Dog Shoppe for their customers; 1) During one of our heavy snow periods a few years ago, the store had to close but not before sample packs of a large variety of dog and cats foods were put in bins at the storefront so that customers would be able to at least get enough of their pets food to get them by for a couple of days. 2) During the Covid lockdown in 2020, knowing that pet food is definitely an essential item, the folks at the Good Dog Shoppe got creative and worked their tails off to come up with curbside service. Last week I tested positive for COVID-19. Several days prior, I ordered some cat food for my kitty Mika. Of course, after I tested positive, I couldn't pick it up. I shared my situation with them and they truly stepped up for me. They voluntarily dropped off my order for me and left this sweet treat for my kitty. That is truly amazing customer service! Also, Mika was diagnosed with kidney issues this summer. They were so helpful with recommendations for food and supplements to help her. I have a toy poodle named Minnie and she is very picky when it comes to certain treats, so I'm always trying to pick up treats at various places but i think i finally found a place that i like frequently come to. The staff is incredibly amazing at this store!!! I'm so glad my pup and I are close to it, so we make the trip once a week so Jax can pick out this treats. They know the pups (and their owners) by name, and are just so helpful in all aspects, especially if you're a new dog owner. I bought the Ancestry line of food for my pup, and he loves it. They are good with giving samples so you can test and see which one fits best and also help with the toys as well. They carry West Paw toys, which are extremely durable, and last so much longer than just a regular tennis ball. I bought the orange zogoflex, and it works as a fetch toy, chewing toy, and also treat holder, giving my pup all the necessary incentives to chew and exercise. They have local dog lovers who bring in organic peanut butter ice cream for the dogs, and they give really awesome treats when you visit! Can't go wrong for visiting this place with your pet! Note: they have about 4 cats that run the show here, and are good about socializing so they can help you gauge how sociable your new pet can be with cats and other animals. One downside: the check out line takes forever!!! Please speed up this process!!! Their comps are always down and my points don't seem to be recorded... Along with the other reviews pointing out the lack of friendly humans(the cats were super friendly) I experienced the feeling I was not welcome. I was asked if I needed help but it felt like the way someone would ask as a polite way of saying get the hell out of my store. I didn't purchase anything because I was just seeing if they carried my dogs food since it can be very hard to find. I'll stick the the place I currently buy the food because I always feel welcome and valued. The shop was super cute so it's a shame it felt like I was invading their space.... UPDATE: Out of all fairness and honesty I must update my previous 1 star review based on recent experiences. Due to limited time and convenience I stopped by the store and I am glad. The people I have encountered both times were not the same person as my initial visit and they were both very friendly and helpful. I only put a 1 star review because there isn't lower to rate this company at this point. The good dog used to be an amazing company and somewhere I told everyone around me to check out especially because of my love for small businesses but today after the first picture was shown(which was groomed at the good dog) after 3 days of calling with no response for an appointment, this is how they cut my dog. When asked for a refund, first said we cant get a refund because "the owner is out of town" then came back and said will do a partial refund but then said after he's thought about it he cannot do that. Eventually refund was issued and when I called to speak to a manager, person on the phone said they were the manager and when I expressed how horrible the experience was, he SCREAMED at me and alluded to me being a bad dog owner then continued to tell me how he doesn't want me or anyone that is like me to bring them business. This is the first bad review I have EVER left a company let alone a small business but this company has no integrity or respect for people that keep their doors open. Will not be returning. I will find a small business that doesn't disrespect me as part of a service after they butcher my dog's beautiful hair. I have also added the response to this post from google because apparently the "owner's response" is to encourage screaming at clients when they never even screamed at their employee. Apparently also the owner will gaslight you and tell you that their employee's voice HAD to be raised when you don't even scream and to the top of his lungs hysterically at that. Also, apparently the owner is okay with publicly lying and saying I received a $175 refund when the whole service was $120... either this company has no clue what they are doing or they just absolutely don't care. Mind you, refund was held 3 times then on the last they asked if we would leave a review before issuing refund. I really thought speaking to the owner may get me somewhere... I don't normally post reviews, but after reading some of these, I wanted to. We've been shopping here for several years and have only had a great experience each time. They've always been very friendly and helpful, even offering to carry the heavy dog food bags out to the car for me. I have zero complaints! We've only used the groomer once simply because it's just too far from where we live, and we already have a groomer our pups like. I always recommend this place when people ask about what's best to feed their dogs because I know they'll get knowledgeable advice. read more

Just got a dog, and was exploring different dog stores in the area. Came across this place after visiting Top Dogs. No one said hello, can I help you or anything. Overall I had the feeling that I was there without permission. Found a few things for puppy and made my way to the counter to checkout, helped 2 people that were not in line before I finally was able to pay. Asked if I needed any food and told them that my dog was very picky and I was trying out some different food samples that Top Dogs gave me. The lady then began to tell me how horrible I was for going there and tried shaming me, in a loud voice told me how horrible they were to the owner and that I should never visit there. Then she informed me that when I figure out what food he likes that I could "just bring the bag here and I am sure we will have it". Um no thanks, Top Dogs welcomed me the second I stepped in the door, helped me find a collar, harness, and they even filled a FULL shopping bag of free food samples (Dry/Wet/Free Dried/Frozen) and sent me on my way with some treats. Why would I "just bring the bag in here" when I can pay the same price and not be shamed in front of other customers about where I visit with my new dog? My visit here taught me again that there is a reason people choose Target over Walmart. Customer service is not a priority here. read more

A friend told me about this place, so I went to check it out. Really knowledgeable and very friendly! Gave me a ton of food samples for my 2 small furrbabies and told me to go home and make notes on which flavors they liked best. Staff are the most helpful and friendly pet people, I usually get anxious when it comes asking for help in retail spots but they made me feel very comfortable and that know what they're talking about and honest recommending without feeling like they're tryna up your checkout total. Had a good first experience with the groomers on a nail trim but maybe a change in the times posted for their hours would be helpful. They only stay for their appointments so the posted grooming hours are not actually honored. Keep getting told to call ahead even if I show up 3 hours before the grooming hours are closed on two separate occasions. Just put a notice for appointments only to avoid any confusion or conflicts because walk ins are "welcomed" but whats the point if no one is there for the posted hours. read more

These are wonderful people carrying great, high-quality products. They make a point of getting to know their customers (of both the human and furry variety!) and don't stock anything they wouldn't feel confident using on their own pets. There is a wide selection of food, toys, treats, supplements and more. We stop in every couple of weeks for Orijen, The Honest Kitchen, and treats. The staff is very knowledgable and give specialized recommendations for each individual customer based on their needs and budget. I also love that they regularly pair up with local rescues to hold adoptions, although I avoid them on those days for fear I'd come home with another dog! We first found The Good Dog a year ago when we were looking for some higher quality pet food and allergy relief for our American Bully. They worked with us for months trying to find the right combination and the results have been outstanding. Our dogs look fantastic and are the healthiest they've ever been. Coming from the West Coast I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a store that carried the products my dogs like. I searched the web and found this place. I came here about 15 minutes before they closed and was treated as though I was the first customer of the day. They took the time out to talk to me about my dogs and even set me up with a rewards account. The prices are WAY better than what I'm used to paying in Los Angeles. My dogs are the quietest they've been since moving here to Kennesaw. The bones are great quality and reputable brands. I am an animal lover and seeing the cats they have relaxing on the trees in the store made my heart happy. They even have bunnies and a turtle in the back. I refuse to shop anywhere else for my dogs and cats. As long as I live in Georgia, you have a customer. I'm going to refer all my friends here. I love this place. read more

I live in CA and found the owner's email address on a dog forum. We've had a series of conversations in which she has advised me of the best methods for my yellow lab who has terrible allergies--a 5 year battle for us. The advice I received has already been more helpful and effective than any vet or pet store I have ever worked with before. Because I live in CA, I have never and will never spend a dime in this store YET the owner has been taking the time to help a complete stranger via email. This place is fun to get your pet food. They carry all the healthy higher end type pet foods with many choices. The staff is all very cordial not to mention the friendly cats roaming the store. Always a good place to go to buy food and other pet needs. I can't sing their praises enough. In business, most people are so concerned about making the next dollar or selling the next hot item, and they forget that repetitive business is about connection with the customer. I can assure you that The Good Dog Co ATL hasn't forgotten about the customer - or about the customer's pets! We go in and they know us and our dogs by name (even when our dogs aren't with us!). Even though Regina (the store owner) is very, very busy, she always greets me with a big smile when I come in the store and is ready to answer any questions I have or just to chat while I make my purchase. Our older dog, Haylie, is a whole new dog due to the care they took in making sure that I was educated about her nutrition. She was overweight, achy, and was starting to slow down at just four years old! Now - at six years old - she is running and playing like a puppy again! Recently, we had been having problems getting Haylie to eat the food that made all this happen. I was scared to switch foods after having such success with the first one, but I told Regina about the issues we were having. She was ready with several other recommendations - AND gave me samples of each so that we could take them home and try them out first. I shouldn't have been surprised when both of my dogs loved all of her recommendations. She really knows her stuff!! One cool thing about this store is that they are always getting new products! I usually find new products at their store before I can get them anywhere else. And if I miss a new product that would be great for my dog, Regina and Robin (who works at the store) know me and my dogs well enough to make sure I check it out! I've come in several times and Robin has told me about a new treat that I would have totally missed that is perfect for my dogs! AND, the best part is - Regina doesn't stock anything on her shelves that isn't a great, holistic product that is appropriate and healthy for my pet. The woman, who unfortunately I never caught her name, was wonderful. Had a lot of suggestions and advice and most importantly she was not pushy or trying to force me into any decisions.
