Working at this Petco location was one of the most toxic job experiences I've ever had. Despite always being on time, completing my tasks, and receiving constant compliments from customers, my hours were suddenly slashed without warning or explanation down to 20 hours a month. Before hand a month prior to December when I spoke to a manager (Karyssa) that I needed more hours to pay for college, I was told I had to "earn the right" to get more hours, even though I'd always asked my team if they needed help. Management was unprofessional, petty, and even spiteful. One manager in particular (Karyssa) tried to micromanage my every move, lied about customer complaints (even claiming people somehow had her direct email), and made it clear that her personal issues with me were more important than actual performance. At one point, I was even threatened with a write-up for not talking to a dog. This wasn't just bad management it was personal, targeted, and cruel. I was a college student trying to stay afloat. They knew or should have known how serious that was, and they didn't care. That level of disregard is more than just toxic; it's inhumane. No one should be treated this way especially not by a multi-billion-dollar company. Save yourself the stress and apply somewhere that treats their employees like people, not pawns. read more

this Petco is one of the worst I've been to. I've went there for five months and it is a horrible place. I went there a couple days ago, and I saw a skinny abused snake which saddens my and the cages are way too small for all of the animals but the people that work there are really nice wrong with them. Petco is located in the large shopping complex that is also home to Whole Foods, Michael's and Academy Sports along with various other small shops and a healthy mixture of eateries. This location is a standard Petco and features all the normal things you are accustomed to for your pups and kitties, along with stuff for the specialty pets, furry and scaly. The one thing I do enjoy about this location is the treat cart which has a good variety of specialty, organic treats for your pup. They have the basic dog bones and such, but also have specialty celebration treats. You can get these by the pound or by the piece. Additionally, the variety of collars, harnesses and clothing is excellent here and I appreciate their support of diversity and pride with these pieces as well! Service is decent here. I have never received help on the sales floor, but the cashiers are always friendly and helpful. While pricing here is in line with the other big box pet stores, it is a little higher than I prefer to spend, but on occasion they run great specials and it is worth it to stop by! read more

I have been going to Petco in Kennesaw 1570 crater lake Dr for at least 2yrs. I also pay the monthly membership fee. I booked an appointment for my puppy for 9:45am. I got there at 9:50am and they told me that bc I was late (they have a 15min grace period and I was within it) they couldn't groom my dog. When I got there at 9:50 the doors were locked. As I pulled up, another lady walked up and she was trying to get in. We sat in front for a few mins then we drove in a circle in the parking lot bc the door said they opened at 10. When we got in Madison who was supposed to be her groomer had a bad attitude and was very nasty with me and short. I had to ask her to get a manager bc I didn't want to talk to her bc of how rude she was. At this point I didn't even want her to groom my dog even if they would have taken her. Anyway, they said that they were over booked.... (How is that my fault if the system allowed me to book days ago?) they were going to take the other woman who was there at the same time with me although her appointment was after mine and we got there at the same time. At this point I felt like they were being racist. The manager Karryssa had a better attitude and was very apologetic but not helpful. After they told the other lady they couldn't groom her dog who's been there multiple times (said her dog was aggressive bc she was barking) I asked since they were turning her away then can't they take my dog... again they said that they were overbooked. At this point, didn't they have an opening since they refused the other dog? This was the most racist, unprofessional and inconvenient experience I have ever dealt with. The groomers that was scheduled for the morning shift on 6/2/24 at the Kennesaw location clearly didn't want to work that day and should not be apart of the Petco brand. Petco please do better with your staff. They also offered me 50% off to come another day but I'm not comfortable with the groomer and I couldn't use it at a different Petco so I declined. read more

Do not recommend getting your dog groomed here! Madison groomed our poodle and she was extremely unprofessional. She placed an upgraded package without mentioning it beforehand and then fought us on taking the charge off. When we got our dog back he had blood in his hair and a cut on the top of his head. When we mentioned it to her she said it must have been the dogs fault. The GM was helpful and said that he would talk to her. I will NEVER be taking my dog to get groomed at a petco again. Stay away from Josh, the groomer with the purple chin hair, if you want to ensure your pup gets the full service you paid for and isn't harmed behind closed doors. I should've never left my pup with this seemingly dysfunctional man in the first place. Josh used to work at Marietta Petco and had multiple bad reviews, which I found out later. If I had known, I would've never booked with him. I attached a previous review from the last store. Josh didn't clean my dog's ears properly, and now my dog is scratching them like crazy. He also didn't clean my dog's face, which has hard build-up and hair stuck together. My 5-month-old Shih Tzu was matted, and although I was aware of this, I was told Josh would try to make him as even as possible. The problem is that his ears are still dirty, his face still has crust around the eyes, and the customer service was just horrible. The supervisor said they couldn't issue a refund, even though I didn't ask for one. That was very rude. Josh took my dog to a clear room to cut around his ears, but when he brought him back, there was still wax and hair inside. Then he took him to a back room where I couldn't see him. The manager didn't even know why he took him there. I was scared for my dog and asked if someone else could take over, but there was no one else available. He said I could come back the next day. I tried to take my sweet boy to get a simple grooming done. This is my first time going to petco for this service. After filling out paper work, I was told because my dog is a senior this isn't the "appropriate setting" for him to receive a grooming. I'm very confused because online in the FAQs petco lists the accommodations and safety precautions they take for senior dogs such as ramps etc. My dog by no means acts like a senior, he is a small sweet boy who still acts like he's a puppy. Took my dogs for a grooming appt with Josh. I've arrived 15 min late which I've tried to call to advise. Upon my arrival, I was told byt Josh that every single dog got there late and he was running behind and wouldn't be able to take my dogs because we were late as well. So I've told him it was not our fault and that the 15min we were late wouldn't make a difference then since the prior appointments got him behind. He then got his phone out of his pocket and said: I'll call my girlfriend and let her know that I'm not going on a date with her tonight so I can groom your dogs. This was my go to location but I will now be going to the Marietta location down the road in the Publix shopping center moving forward. I booked a grooming (bath only) appointment online and received a call the day before the appointment saying that they cannot accommodate the time I booked because they get off an hour after that and need two hours. I agree to come in an hour earlier. Upon arrival, I was told my dog was too big (50lbs) to be able to groom and that I could leave her with them but they "may or may not get to her. They'll see." I was not a walk in. This was an appointment. The respect for time was not there so I left. I went to the Marietta location up the road and they immediately welcomed us with open arms and got us in right away. All in all, this location needs some work on customer service. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE - I sent my daughter a Petco store location to purchase puppy food. I asked her to request a price match, since I had previously received a price match at another location. The manager at the current location said their policy was to only price match the retail price and not the sales price. I explained over the phone that I just had a sales price matched at another location the week prior. The manager was very unprofessional and rude. She kept over talking me and then in the midst of our conversation, says, "I'll take the next customer please," and completely disregards me. Meanwhile, I contacted another Petco store manager on conference call, who did confirm the policy, but also said he would honor the sales price as a one time courtesy...under the circumstances. The other store manager got back on the phone and proceeded to still be very rude and unprofessional. She made very condescending remarks and insults, all while the other store manager was still on the call. I am extremely offended and appalled in how I was treated and talked to by this store manager, and would like to report this interaction and file a formal complaint. This is a new Petco for the area. There is also another Petco but it's on the other side of Barrett Parkway near the Barnes and Noble by Bells Ferry. I've grown found of Petco over the years. They seem to have friendlier employees than Petsmart and the products they now carry are higher quality than what you will find at Petco. My cats however are extremely picky and could careless how much the food cost. They also could care less whether it's got grain-free whatever or free range who really cares in it or not. They like what they like and they will eat what they want to eat. So I still have to hit Petsmart and the grocery store for their favorite flavors because you know...dogs have owners and cats have staff.... A great addition to the area. Okay usually I have a great experience with my dog and his grooming but today was very different. I made the mistake and let the grooming manager Kelly groom him instead of Jake whom i absolutely love. I have a golden doodle so I'm very particular on how his hair should be cut . His ears were mated when I came in and I instructed her DO NOT take his ears low. Not only were his ears shaved extremely low he had a cut on his ear as well which I was not informed about ! Also she took a huge chuck off above his ear but just left the other side . I am extremely disappointed this is the worse experience I have ever had here at this Petco. Do yourself a favor and ask for Jake he is the best . I would have rather her not do it if she knew she couldn't deliver what i asked. read more

I've been taking Stella (my 10 year old lab) to Petco for grooming for about 3 years. She's probably the most docile dog you'll ever meet. The older she's gotten, the more antsy she gets when she goes to get groomed. She barks and stops when she gets to the back (or so I've been told). Today, I took her and Tiffin to get groomed, and the girl checking them in was extremely irritated with Stella's barking and had such a terrible attitude that I didn't trust leaving my two pups with her. She said that it's "in her chart that she is crazy when she is getting groomed" Never told this before. Also, apparently dogs have "charts" at Petco? Charts that we aren't allowed to read? What? The only good thing I have to say about this Petco is that it is usually clean. That's it. Some of the employees need to get their attitudes checked. I just moved to the area in the fall of 2020 and every time I go to this location, I have to deal with some millennial and their entitled attitude. One of the young girls, Jordan, is especially rude. She truly acts like she could care less about her job and her customers. She must be a manager because I don't see how any manager would be okay with their employee acting so terribly rude. I love this Petco! It is clean and well maintained. I brought my dog, Zelda, in for puppy classes and we ended up doing a three class pack. It was well worth it... she learned so much! Joseph trained Zelda and I seriously cannot recommend him enough, she learned so much and he was very nice. I also ended up bringing another dog of mine there for training and she had Caitlin as her trainer. Caitlin is also really wonderful and was Joseph's mentor... she knows her stuff! This is one of my favorite pet stores. Very close in the vicinity to my job. Everyone is always nice. I went in to get my pups nails trimmed and saw their nail trim, ear cleaning, and another service for $20. (I'm a first time dog owner). So, I don't know if this is expensive, but it got my eye! I recently rescued my pup from a shelter. He doesn't know how to behave properly outside yet, but one of the girls grabbed a treat and did a mini training session to keep him calm. The groomer did an excellent job with him. They also offer training sessions (whether it be group or private) for far less than others. I will be taking advantage of that. Low cost training sessions at Petco. The trainer is awesome. My dog learned really fast and some of the bad behaviors have subsided. None of those behaviors were biting or nipping at anyone. The issue Is I left my dog at the groomers for nail cut priority and bath. pick her up 4 hours later no nail trim. the groomer states the dog was nipping at her. Really? I paid 25$ with priority being nail trim and got a $25 bath. I could have did that myself for free. bottom line I don't think she tried that hard and I got a $25 crappy job. WE LOVE THIS STORE!!!!!!!! Draco (my puppy) and I love love love their trainer Caitlin! She is awesome. She helped me to learn so much about my dog and the art of actually training them. I have never gotten any grooming done, but I do shop here for my cat and dog frequently. Their prices are average I would say, and you do get the chance to earn points for everything you purchase which in turn gives you 5$ for every 100$ spent. Highly recommend. Bathrooms are disgusting. Went in to buy some things for our dog and while we were there my 3 year old had to use the bathroom, but because of the lack of cleanliness, we had to leave. The store had only been open for 15 minutes so it's obvious that they don't clean everyday. Didn't end up buying anything and took my business elsewhere. Atlanta weather was getting seriously hot and my two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels were overdue for their 'summer comfort-cuts'. While one of these sweethearts is just a few years old, the other companion has lived longer than any of my other King Charles' and they have both adopted me as another loving member of their family. It's entertaining to watch the senior Spaniel, though far past her prime, as she patiently tries to compensate with the frequent challenges of her lively playmate. When I brought these rascals in for grooming, as a first time Petco customer I was immediately impressed with cleanliness of facility and friendliness of staff -- Those were the first customer impressions as you step just inside the door. But I also learned these Petco professional groomers not only know how to cut and comb -- they also look beyond the doggie shampoo and little cute ribbons to make basic observations about your dog's overall health. Sometimes they notice things that you may have overlooked, or as in my case, something the owner just doesn't want to admit. They shared concerns about my old friend, the senior King Charles Spaniel. Where I thought she was just slowing down from the Georgia heat and needed a lighter coat, they saw growing challenges to her health that needed immediate professional attention from a veterinarian. And rather than making a buck for my grooming, they made an appointment for my Vet. When the younger King Charles completed her grooming she came back looking even younger and more excited, and bouncing around the way puppies do. I went to pick my dog up after grooming. He looked awesome, then a few moments after I left, I found out that his nails were very sharp. He had scratched my granddaughter with his nails. I went back in to get his nails trimmed and they said I had to pay five dollars extra for his nails to get trimmed, though I already asked for his nails trimmed. This is specifically about the dog training. We currently have one puppy in her second class and an adult in her first. The trainers here are knowledgeable and the science based approach is so much better than the "I been training dogs for twenty years so I know what I'm doing regardless of how animal behaviorists might disagree with me" attitude I ran into while looking for the right trainer.
