WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! They have rescheduled our dog for several weeks out in the last six months because groomers keep quitting. The last groomer we had was new and pulled at our dogs back hip soo hard she could not walk for three weeks. When I asked to speak to a manager to discuss our concerns about the continued rescheduling and poor treatment of our animal, the manager in the Northampton office told me "Sorry, things happen, and then informed me that we were no longer welcomed at the Good Dog Spot" I then asked to speak to the owner, at which time she repeatedly told me that we are no longer welcomed at the Good Dog Spot and then she hung up on me. I would tell anyone considering using the Good Dog Spot to have their pet groomed should strongly consider finding another company to use. It is quite obvious that groomers at the Northampton store continue to quit because they are forced to work under a terrible manage. The best business advice that could be given, would be FIRE THE NORTHAMPTON MANAGER!!!!! read more

Honestly the rates are very high. The webcam access only lets you view the playroom areas, so that offer was very misleading. I boarded 2 dogs that were up to date up on their vaccines and they still came home with some form of kennel cough. read more

I would have rushed down the hill and brought him but was smugly told that I forfeited my deposit and if I wanted to reschedule it would be another 90.00, which I felt I had to. they are mean and treat people like they are the only choice you have. not so. read more

My sweet Dog Ziggy always loved going for car rides but after going to the groomer he doesn't want to be in a car. I picked him up from The Good Dog Spot in Northampton and he was a basket case all the way home. I checked him all over because I couldn't understand why he was panting and having such a hard time, I saw a good sized cut under his armpit. The groomer there hurt my little guy and it wasn't even mentioned when I picked him up . Its been a Month and I still cant even take him for a ride without him freaking out. I always leave the groomers tips despite getting poor customer service experiences when ever I walk in or call to make an appointment. Ashley can have a rude tone, especially when she and the employee behind the phone are laughing. Not very professional. read more

The Good Dog Spot - Bear & Molly - Pet Groomers Near Me - Northampton, Massachusetts

I brought my cat in to be groomed recently, and they did a fine job. I asked that he be given a lion cut, and it's even and neat. He smelled clean and looks so much better. However, when I came to pick him up I could hear him *screaming* from the parking lot. When I got inside he was alone, in a cage with a towel draped over it, and a box fan attached to one side. This is how they 'dried' him, and he was *terrified*. Clearly very very afraid, very vocal about it, but no one was with him. The groomers are good, if you need someone who does cats--a unicorn in the Valley--they're A+, but If I come back it won't include a bath. I appreciate a clean cat, but if drying him means they do it in a dark kennel under a towel with a noisy box fan, and no one else in the room, I'll pass. Five stars to the actual groomers, two stars to the entire experience. Three seems fair. read more

Devastated is all I can think of. I have used them several times in the past without any issues, today a trim of my puppy ended up with my Golden looking like a lab. I am so besides myself. I called them and Samantha said it was a trim, several inches of hair is not a trim, a trim is 1/2 an inch. They took all of her hair and now she is shaking and scared. Completely disappointed with their it is only hair attitude and how they disregarded what we wanted. Never, ever again, do not take your pet here. read more

If you don't want to get Covid, don't go in there! I brought my dog there for the first time and both the receptionist and owner did not have their masks on! They put them on when I asked them to do so but when they are breathing without masks, the aerosols have filled the air. I asked them if they would keep their masks on all the time and when they didn't answer, I walked out. You decide. read more

Our puppy Lester LOVES the Good Dog Spot! Lester is a graduate of the Spot's Tots Puppy Program and he now goes to daycare 1x week. He has also boarded there. It's so nice to know we have a safe, loving place to board him that he enjoys. I love the daily report cards that give you a glimpse of what he did during the day and things we need to work on with him. I highly recommend Spots Tots - Sandra, the head of the program, is amazing. Lester is a very cautious puppy until he gets comfortable and his confidence has definitely grown since being at Dog Spot. read more

Sooooo not happy!!! I brought my dog to The Good Dog Spot for socialization with other puppies, and find out they spent a good chunk of the time in kennels alone!! My whole point of sending him was to get him used other dogs. The program I signed him up for was a puppy play group- I was told it would be a staffed room with 4 puppies playing and 2 calm older dogs. When I got there they were in kennels and the staff was hanging out on computers in their office. I told them before I signed him up that he didn't like kennels due to his history and was told only the full day dogs will go in them for nap time. What a crock of crap! When I complained about this, the staff was very rude!! Needless to say we won't go back! read more

All the other staff is phenomenal; always professional, responsible, and have bailed us out on numerous occasions when we forgot to schedule boarding or day care. My dogs love it here! They both go to daycare a few times a week and have been doing so since they opened! Everyone is friendly and professional. They have been life savers since Covid started and have been there when needed the most. I feel comfortable when I walk in because the lobby is so clean, and everyone is wearing masks. read more

I want to give a shout out to Kathy at the Good Dog Spot Northampton location. I started having my dog groomed at the Chicopee location by Kathy . When the new location in Northampton opened Kathy went to that location Because of the excellent service I received from Kathy I followed her there. The Chicopee location is 10 minutes from my home and the Northampton location is almost 30 minutes from my home. I have had nothing but great experiences and my dog LOVES to go there. For this reason there was no question in my mind to drive the extra distance. My dog is a sweet boy but he is also an impulsive Shih Tzu. Not the easiest breed to groom. If you are looking for a groomer who does a great job and treats your dog like they were her own ask for Kathy at The Good Dog Spot. read more

This is a new doggy daycare in Northampton and I LOVE them. My dog has been going there since they opened and he never even looks back once he gets back in there, he loves everyone and loves going to stay when we go away. A few things I love most: I can have my pup groomed before I pick him up, they teach him manners like sitting before going into a new room or the play area, they always send him home with some adorable puppy artwork when he stays there a few days, and he always comes home happy and tired. We've moved a lot and have used a lot of doggy daycares but this one is top notch. My first impression was that they may be a little snooty with the initial dog behavior rating system (WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY CRAZY DOG ISN'T PERFECT --) but that's far from the case and we love them. read more

PLEASE DONT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!! I took my dog here a few weeks ago for a self wash and they were so unprofessional and dirty there was still hair in the tub from another dog but I took the hair out and proceeded and thought nothing of it then when I went to brush my dog I had to clean hair out of the brush a few minutes later me and my friend had to kill a flea that was on the outside of the tub which I thought was strange because my dog didn't have fleas so I took him out of the tub a few weeks go by and I notice my dog itching quite a bit so I examined his back and realized he had fleas so I tried calling them to make them aware of this situation and hopefully get some help getting rid of the fleas since their tub was most likely where he got them I keep my dog in a contained area or in my house but I was told that they would have someone call me back..no return phone call..so I called back now they were short staffed and said I will have someone call you back...no call back so I call again and finally I talk to the owner who continues to deny that there was a problem with the tub and he said "let me do some leg work on my end and I'll call you back" now a week later (today) I call back and speak with the owner again and he tells me he won't even give me a free flee wash because I waited too long to call and that he wasn't going to do anything for me this place is horrible and gave my dog fleas please don't bring your dog here they have dirty tubs and even worse attitudes read more

I rarely write reviews but feel I must. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience with my groomer from the Good Dog Spot in Northampton. Her name is Kathy and she's absolutely amazing with my dog Loki when grooming him. Because of my schedule and my dogs hair getting so long and thick he was recently somewhat matted when he went to see her....especially his little legs which are difficult to keep from matting when they're wet all the time from the snow. I am sorry to leave a bad rating, since our pup's first grooming experience with Kathy at the Northampton location was good. However, her second grooming experience, when her puppy coat was growing out and she had some mats on her tummy, was terrible. I did understand that they might use a close clipper, but our pup came home with razor burns and up to six cuts on her belly. When I expressed -- politely but clearly -- that I was really upset about the burns and cuts, and asked for my money back, the groomer yelled at me "You shouldn't have let her get so matted!" (I had been working the mats out at home with a blunt-tipped scissors and mat remover, and brushing her every day, and only brought her to the GDS because I thought they could do a better job than I could). I emailed the owner and asked for my money back, and he instead offered me free grooming the next time, and said that the mats were so close that she had to cut that close. I'm OK with a close cut, but NO way am I OK with razor burns and cuts, it's not necessary to injure my dog to groom her. She's an easy dog to groom, they said she was "an angel," so there's no need to wield the clipper so sloppily. read more
