I usually don't review a place that I didn't actually get to try, but since most of the reviews here are old and don't entirely match the experience I had with the place, I figured I'd leave this to give others an idea of what to expect. The place is a roadside stand. There are a few tables to the side of the stall, not under cover. The vibey hippie shack that you see in old photos is no longer there. It's pretty hard to find, at least if you're a foot passenger on the ferry. It's outdoors by the vehicle loading area for Berth 3, which is on the east side of the terminal. From the foot passenger area, I found two ways to get there but both were pretty awkward. They really need to add the location or directions to the signs that they have up all over the terminal; if I hadn't spent so much time figuring out where to go, I might've made it there on time to get something. The service was really slow. I joined the lineup around 8 am thinking that it would be kind of close but I'd be back in the terminal by 8:15 to catch my 8:35 ferry, and I was holding out even as the minutes ticked by, hoping that the people in front of me might have easy orders, but even things like baked goods and regular coffee were taking a while. When the line got to the two people in front of me and they tried to order two mochas, the barista told them it wouldn't be ready in time for them to catch the ferry, so I also got out of line at that point. The barista seemed very friendly and I appreciated that he was upfront about the time it would take to prepare the drinks (this is why 2 stars instead of 1). This pace of service is not a good fit for the ferry terminal, though, where people are on a tight schedule. read more

Probably one of the worst "cafe" experiences we've ever had. To start, the "be right back" time was set for 9:40AM (and it was 10:30AM when we looked), There was no acknowledgment whatsoever of the people waiting out front, simply wondering what time they opened, as clearly the sign was inaccurate (and perhaps there was no awareness of how to tell time). As we waited for an imaginary open time, some rude ass staff was sitting inside the shack doing her makeup and ignoring the customers. Nice! When we saw her walk out the back, we asked her what time she opened, and she said "it says out front" and proceeded to ignore us when we said that the time on the sign said 9:40. Girl, wow! Another customer asked what time they opened and was having a conversation with her, explaining how he was confused and...unsurprisingly...she kept her back to him and didn't answer him. I hope the rest of her day was better Food was terrible, service more terrible, prices oiteageous. 0/10 read more

Good Karma is unwelcome dogma. Rated as the most passively aggressive thinly veiled attempt to covertly be a vegan cafe on the West Coast. This is a ferry terminal, lots of tourists but pretty diverse demographics that are unlikely to be vegan. Overt veganism aside, lousy service by surly staff with uninspiring food accentuated by disproportionate amounts of julienned carrots and more rabbit food charading as something that would fill your stomach. P.S. Easy 3 minute walk in to the village where you have half a dozen delicious, cheap take out options. I recommend the oyster tempura burger. read more

As others have mentioned, the name of the cafe doesn't really align with the attitudes of the servers. With not one smile or warmth in the greeting or helpfulness with menu options, you'd think they were dishing out insta karma for every time I accidentally forgot to open a door for someone! Attitudes aside, the cafe sitting area has a fantastic sitting area, good vegan options and probably one of the best smoothies I've had in a long time. I had the masala wrap which came with a small side salad. The salad was a bit of a joke since it was maybe 10 leaves and nothing more but, the wrap was good. Tender curried chickpeas with rice, it was grilled in a tortilla wrap. It was flavourful and something I would have regularly and something I'd love to try and make at home. Now, to the best part, the Buddha smoothie. Perfectly blended, it had berries, walnuts, greens and soy milk. What was the perfect compliment though was the addition of rose water. It was SO fragrant and absolutely delicious. I've never had rose water in my smoothie before but I think it's something I'll continue adding in. So good! I didn't know there was a village a short distance away or I would have checked it out but, I'm happy with what I had. It was nourishing, delicious and made my body feel good. read more

Located just beside the vehicle line-up for the Ferry at Horseshoe Bay, I just got a medium coffee and a muffin straight out of the oven. The basic brewed coffee is excellent, and their large cappuccino contains three shots of espresso. They bake their muffins right there and it's amazing when it comes out. My batch has cranberries, carrots, flax, walnuts... Service is prompt. There is some seating in an undercover area directly beside, if you want to get out of your car for a bit. read more

Went for a coffee and a cinnamon bun while waiting for ferry. The staff was rude, didn't crack a smile once. The three girls there did not say one word to each other. Two of the girls sat on there phone while one girl made the coffee. The muffins and croissants were burnt and everything is overpriced. One girl working there had a Tim Hortons coffee. So stop somewhere before your stuck here and have nowhere else to go. read more

Stuck in yet another long ferry line up, so thought I'd make the best of it by checking out the Good Karma Cafe. I wish I had the discipline to order a wrap, but I couldn't pass up a chance to order a cinnamon roll. Had my first one here a few months ago, so I knew I was in for something good. The rolls are microwaved, which is not ideal...but they seem to have mastered the art, so you don't get that over-nuked bread texture. What you do get is a doughy, gooey, cinnamony-sugary treat. With a hot tea, it'll keep you toasty in your car while you wait for BC Ferries to get their act together. Service is prompt and friendly. read more

I come here almost every time I take the ferry from horseshoe bay. It's conveniently located right in the parking lot so if you don't have time to walk into the village this place is perfect! They have many healthy, organic, vegan and gluten free type options. Also the milk they use is organic -- even in your latte. I always order the delicious muffins that they give to you right out of the muffin pan. I really want to get one of their yummy looking smoothies, but usually when I'm there I'm desperate for a coffee. This last time I noticed they've added a new-ish comfortable and spacious seating area that would be a great escape from the rain! Maybe in the summer they will even open it up! read more

Please pick a new name. Your staff is surly, your facility is lacking basic hygiene and your prices are insulting. Twice I've been stuck in the ferry lineup and I, like all of your customers, was short on time to walk to the village. 2 shots of espresso were more expensive than a quad americano at starbucks, debit machine cord dragged over the open muffins by the counter, served instantly (clearly not poured for me) with a grimace. Summer, same deal, starving and tight on time. $9 got me a piece of nori with one piece of lettuce, a few shreds of carrot and about 1/16th of an avocado wrapped inside. Served up by a miserable girl who had her two work mates or friends in the back, sitting on the counters. I will go hungry or have my caffeine headache in future. If your not willing or able to staff up on a Friday long weekend than give facility to someone who will work it. While waiting for the ferry, we got coffee and a cinnamon bun here. Most people were walking much farther...now I know why. Waited 5 minutes before the woman...right in front of me...acknowledged me. It was comical. I would have left if I didn't really want a coffee. I don't think I got eye contact from either women working there. Felt like I was irritating them. Coffee took a long time despite only 1 other person in front of me. Cinnamon bun was good. Coffee was okay. I will walk farther next time like the rest of the people. read more

Amazing organic food! Vegetarian options and still very filling. They have really good croissants from france and a nice little outdoor oasis to sit. Really pleased with my visit, it made waiting for the ferry much more enjoyable. read more

Tried to get a coffee. They had a sign up saying they were in the bathroom or restocking or something like that. In reality the server was inside cleaning dishes and just looked at me through the window. I stood there for a few minutes. Never evened opened the window to ask if wanted anything. If I could give the Karma Cafe 0 stars I would. We had a morning ferry to Bowen Island and wanted to grab breakfast here. There were 2 girls working that didn't even acknowledge us (a group of 4) for at least 10 mins. There were only 2 people in front of us. We needed a fork for a cinnamon bun and the girl workng barked back at us to wait . Not only were they rude, they couldn't even get my order right. Honestly, for a slow coffee shop, you would think they would at least offer decent customer service! Would not recommend!! read more

We like getting treats at this convenient location in a pinch when waiting for ferry. We got berry and strawberry smoothies which were way too icy and milky, yuck! Skip those next time. Did not look very appetizing, the cheese on top was hot but actual hot dog did not feel fully cooked. Did not like it. Loveee this place! Heads up: some stuff are a bit pricey but everything else makes up for it - good vibes, mostly awesome people, cozy aura and of course good karma! Great coffee shop, there is a barista named Seth who is particularly good, he is a nice guy and made me the best soy latte that I have ever had. It seams like a great place and really nice people who will kindly take careful note of my complicated drinks. This is a great place so visit it if you can and be sure to ask if Seth is working. The blonde twins with the arm tattoos rolled their eyes at us when I tried to order the raw hippie roll, they said it was out so I asked about the non raw one, they said " yeah but it would take a long time so are you sure?" I'm waiting for my ferry so we have all the time in the world. So I ordered it and the girl was like "okay one hippie roll then" while the other one rolled her eyes again. I wish I was here commenting on the food & beverage that I had the opportunity to experience, but instead I am about to inform potential users and hopefully mangement and/or owner of the unprofessional and rude encounter I experienced on monday March 21st at 12:00pm. I have seen this cafe before but have never seen anybody at it (I now know why), however we decided to check it out.... it was a rainy Vancouver day and my friend and walked down to the roadside cafe, we stepped on the porch and had no choice but to focus our eyes on all of the sloppy handmade signs & menus posted on the windows. I thought it was strange that the minute we stepped on to the porch that the window was not already open or that it didn't slide open immediately, but we had to stand there on the porch in the rain for a few minutes, finally the window reluctantly opened, lurking inside on a laptop was a young woman. She stood there and looked at us blankly not offering a "hi, how are you", nor the bare minimum "how can I help you" but rather her lifeless gaze suggested that we were interupting her day. We proceeded to ask if she offered specialty coffees or just drip coffee; her response was "weren't you just looking at the menu?" I honestly thought she was joking, we looked at each other and she threw her hands in the air and said she "gets that question all of the time" and that she is "tired of it", "we should just read the menu/sign". We made the decision at this point to walk away from this event rather than contributing to it; I am appauled to say the least that this encounter happened to me and my friend, but even more disturbed to know that this is happening to tourists who are visiting our beautiful province who inturn provide jobs for many of us. Not to mention the exhausted commuters who make this journey daily. I am a frequent user and I can assure you that I will never return to the ironically named "Karma Cafe", nor will I refer or recommend to others. One thing I will do is tell EVERYBODY that will listen about my negative encounter. If I can take anything positive from this experience it is to remind myself how important my actions are. I work both in the hospitality & tourism industries and as hosts in these chosen professions we have the ability to make or break somebodies day. I truly hope that this employee is retrained (or trained) and if it is a family member working for free she is still not worth it. read more

If you have the time, 10 minutes at least, its worth eating here. Super healthy menu with lots of wraps. Indian pizza is a personal size naan with lots of cheese. Wrap has veggies that are unusual and seasoning is a bit spicy. Muffins are huge and healthy. Good selection of teas and coffees. Space to eat that is out of the weather with some heat. There are no words to describe the horrible experience I had with this place. The women that I met there was the most rude and unprofessional person I have ever come across in my life!
