My order: the New Yorker sandwich The review: The Goods was alright! The interior is very cute and the staff were very friendly and accommodating as they explained their GF options. The gluten free bagel was quite small and thus had very little on it, for a higher price than the regular size. Not my first choice in the area, but also not a bad option. I stopped by after a chiropractic appointment since the gals at the desk had recommended their breakfast sandwich (so my first error was not going with their rec). I ended up asking the cashier what he recommends, and ended up getting the Cali Wrap. I tried to get settled to do some work, but disappointingly they don't have wifi available. He seemed annoyed that I would ask. When my wrap came out, I took a bite and felt like there wasn't avocado in it. I mentioned this and he said, no he watched the cook put the avocado in it. For a wrap with "Cali" in the name, I'd expect the avocado to be more evident. Eventually I did find it towards the bottom of the wrap. Overall, I felt it also lacked seasoning/flavor and will not be getting it again. The service also makes me hesitant to come back, but I feel maybe the breakfast sandwich deserves a chance since my chiropractor office recommended it. read more

The coffee was terrible. We've been here before and the Blueberry Crumble latte was amazing but the this time it was completely different and awful. The crumble was missing and when we pointed it out they said we were wrong. The customer service was terrible too in that they didn't correct it. We ordered several different types of coffee but all of them tasted the same and bitter. read more

We came in for breakfast yesterday morning and there were so many options. We loved that everything was labeled and so many dairy free options. A local was behind us waiting for a pickup and told us that anything we picked was going to be delicious. He was right. Absolutely my favorite coffee spot while in town! Love the cute decor and vibe and appreciate the indoor and outdoor seating options. As the name suggests you can get delicious cafe items as well as shop the market for home made items. My husband and I chose to eat in and were quickly greeted and served. I had the best iced caramel latte and bagel sandwich--and I am the first to admit I am picky about both :) If you are in the area, this place is a must! read more

Cute spot right in the downtown area, which was walking distance from my hotel. I got their cold brew and breakfast sandwich on homemade flatbread. Disappointed with the one piece of bacon on it, but the overall flavor is good. I would come back if I'm in the area again. read more

A charming little shop right in the heart of Portsmouth. I dropped in around noon on a Sunday and was still able to get a bar seat. For their size, they have a really good selection. I started with an asiago bagel with cream cheese. It was good but what was most exciting was that most of their bagels are Gluten free. I'm not a GF eater but I know many folks who are so it was cool to see so many selections for those folks. I also got a ham and cheese croissant from the bakery case and it was also delicious. My only complaint was I wanted more! I did also get a hot chocolate for the road. It was fine. A little watery but otherwise it was good. And the service was fantastic! Came here to Portsmouth for a nice day trip, trying to find a place for breakfast. The Goods has an extensive menu that gave us a lot of options, but we ended up waiting almost an hour for 2 sandwiches. Other customers who ordered after us received their meals first. I can only assume the long wait time was due to unprepped ingredients, in which case they may benefit from shortening their menu options so they can serve their customers in a more timely manner. I have eaten breakfast at this place twice this week. I ordered the same meal both times. The café has a really great and healthy menu, some items are even locally sourced. There is also a market with different products for sale. I wish that this café was closer to my house! I live in Massachusetts, so visiting Portsmouth is a little getaway for me. The staff is very friendly, I spent a good deal of time chatting with Todd. He has worked at this location for a number of years And he definitely has tons of information about Portsmith and the local area. For food, I recommend the vegetable melts. I also highly recommend the lattes. If you were in the area, I would definitely check this place out! read more

I was very excited to try out the goods today on the way to work, as I was early and had some time to spare. I have a wheat allergy and finding good bagels is hard to find, especially ones without 100 ingredients in them that make you feel terrible. I looked up this place in the way and noticed they make everything on their menu in house and knew this was one to try out. When I arrived I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel and an everything bagel, both being gluten free. I mentioned while ordering it's so nice to find a place that makes gluten free bagels in house, im sure these will be so good. She then came back at me pretty rudely and said we make almost everything but nothing gluten free it all comes from Pennsylvania. I mentioned oh it said on the website that under gluten free it says it's made in house, which she then responded that I must have read it incorrectly. I shook it off and walked to my car to eat my bagel on the way to work. When I tell you these bagels were as hard as a rock and the size of your parm, totally not worth it. I will not be returning one because of the rudeness of the owner with me and two because these shouldn't even be sold to the public and at the price they're at. read more

Super cute place to grab an early morning breakfast. My son and I liked it so much we went two days in a row. Day one he got smoothie and a breakfast sandwich, I got a london fog iced with a breakfast burrito and dad got a drip coffee. Day two I got a latte, kid and dad repeated their order. Came back to Portsmouth for my anniversary and my wife was looking for a great place to get coffee and light breakfast. I'm glad we stopped here. We tried the avocado toast (how millennial!), Matcha smoothie, and a sausage and egg flatbread. The smoothie, while on the pricier side, was pretty damn good. My wife's toast was rather fancy and substantial. My sausage and egg flatbread was a little chewy, but still good. Depending on when you get there they may or may not have outdoor seating. I was having a very hard time deciding what to get because everything looked so good but I eventually narrowed it down between the veggie melt and avocado toast and ended up getting the veggie melt. Everything in it was clearly very fresh and the focaccia was perfectly toasted, did not regret my decision one but. The store itself was so cute and the girl who toke our order was very nice. We felt most unwelcome. Staff was not friendly whatsoever. Said the bare minimum. Didn't engage or smile. Really unapproachable. Food was really good. I'll give them that! But wayyy overpriced. Breakfast for two adults and a toddler was like $60 !!! The breakfast dishes should at least come with a side of home fries for that! We won't return. We like to feel welcomed into an establishment especially if we're gonna pay so much for a small meal. My husband felt the vibe too and chose not to ask for something because he felt he would be imposing. Not good!! read more

Small quaint little market place that offers breakfast & lunch sandwiches, salads, smoothies, coffee, and pizza. The inside is very clean, bright, and cozy. I tried the Veggie Love sandwich and it was very flavorful and tasty. Generous amount of mixed veggies on herb & garlic focaccia bread. I'm not even a big Veggie fan but loved the sandwich! This was by far our favorite little touristy hidden gem. We stopped here for lunch and we're greeted with such warmth. They have a variety of breakfast and lunch items, they were happy to accommodate all modifications and truly made the experience so lovely. My Buffalo chicken wrap with ranch was superb and I loved the peach turmeric iced tea!! This place is such a bundle of joy and the food is excellent. I drove all the way here from the Salem, MA area one morning when I was in a really low spot. I ordered french toast and a coffee to stay. The woman who owns this place makes the food, and sees to every customer with so much love and it was felt and I want her to know that. The french toast was unreal and the coffee was bracing. After the morning rush she went around asking everyone if they were happy, and she was REALLY asking. I'm so glad that out of all the places I stumbled upon (because I didn't know where I was going) this was the place I came to. Can't recommend it enough. read more

The merch was really cute, the turkish delights were reasonably priced, and there was plenty of culture to go around. The place is order at the counter or online and there is seating in the front area and along the windows. I stopped by here recently late afternoon. I already had coffee, so all I needed was a breakfast sandwich, which is offered all day. I got a BYO Egg Breakfast Sandwich ($8.75 plus tax) on an Everything Bagel with goat cheese, pickled onions ($), pork sausage patty ($), round egg patty, tomato, & romaine lettuce ($ subbed for spinach), which was prepared to order and ready to go in 6 minutes. I headed back to my vehicle outside and enjoyed this tasty thick bagel egg sandwich with my black coffee, which was my quick dinner before heading over to a gathering. I would definitely return to Dwntwn for another breakfast sandwich and muffin next time.

We ordered two items off of the special Noah Kahan menu, which supports The Busyhead Project (Noah's charity that focuses on mental health). My choice was "Waffle Be Here Forever" which was an apple Belgian waffle, topped with fried apples, blueberry granola, whipped cream, and caramel. it was soooooo good and I'd definitely order it again. Also from the Noah Kahan menu, we ordered pumpkin pancakes, which were so fluffy and flavorful. Another win on the menu! Decor in the Friendly Toast is really fun with the walls collaged with nostalgic art. I also liked the Busyhead Project Community wall towards the back of the restaurant which featured written reflections on mental health prompts that were then posted on the wall.
