Well. Once again Yelp reviews are spot on. Did an orange Theory Fitness class and asked for a healthy recommendation and they pointed me here. First, all is organic. I ordered the sesame salad with kale ams spinach- air fried broccoli, carrots abs pickled veggies. I added chicken and avocado. I skipped the dressing. The salad portion was generous as was the meat. The taste was delicious. The only thing to note here is their plastic cutlery is super duper flimsy. Great healthy choice!!! read more

Fresh Press is a local organic juice, smoothie, and bowls establishment located in downtown Portsmouth. Looking to get fresh pressed juice, I stumbled upon Fresh Press and was excited to get some fresh organic juice. I ended up ordering online, which was easy, and my order was completed in a very short amount of time. When walking into Fresh Press, it's very clean with the vast portion of the facility being their bar of goods for juice, smoothies, bowls, and salads. One thing that I think is impressive is that they make all of their dressings, health bars, croutons, etc. Not to mention, everything is made without gluten or dairy. I was quickly greeted by one of the employees, and it was simple to grab my order of juices. The first juice I had tried was a green juice with wheatgrass, kale, spinach, cucumber, lemon and celery. After spending a few hours roaming around downtown Portsmouth, I really wanted a vitamin C boost and luckily found The Fresh Press. Really healthy menu and a great selection of smoothies. I went with the peach flavored one which featured all sorts of berries - peach (obv), raspberry, orange and with a coconut base. The wait wasn't long at all and in no time I had my delicious vitamin C goodness and wow, I didn't even share it. I snarfed that baby down and felt really good so mission accomplished. I understand this is juice cafe, but don't sell nitro cold brew if you don't have necessities for coffee. Paid $4 for a coffee, when I asked for milk and sugar then was told they only carry cashew milk, maple syrup and honey. They honestly think you can put maple syrup and honey in a coffee! read more

This great place needs a recent review!! I am a regular at fresh press and love it! The shop has recently been redone, refreshed surroundings and menu ! Everything is fresh and delicious. Juice is pressed off site but still delicious. Smoothies, salads, wraps and bowls are full of good healthy things and can be made to order as well. I usually get the açaí bowl Arnold, but they are all great. The staff is happy and helpful and while it's not cheap, the food is organic, healthy, delicious and convenient!! I stopped by today since I'm traveling and wanted to get some extra greens. I ordered the green machine which was super tasty, and I like that they used honey as a sweetener. I also ordered a Renew Bowl, and the cucumber was oddly bitter. Everything else was tasty, though. Items are on the pricey end, but these days, all of these types of restaurants are. BATHROOM REVIEW: (Don't judge me, everybody poops) Ok smoothies are not my thing but my friend really wanted one, so I USED THE BATHROOM. it was a single stall. Hallelujah. It was quite clean and spacious, so even the most anxious of bathroom users could be at peace. The toilet paper was facing the right direction, informing me that the shop is run by humans and not our android overlords. The hand soap was great- nothing like excellent hand soap. Sadly, there was only an air dryer. What if I spill smoothie on me? Plus air dryers spread germs everywhere, and I had to touch the door handle to leave without paper protection. A 4 star bathroom. Love this healthy breakfast option in Portsmouth! I came in and ordered an acai bowl and a turmeric ginger latte. I ordered the drink with a bit less sweetener, and I found the ginger was way very overpowering; I wish I had asked for half as much ginger. When I ordered, the woman did ask if I had had raw ginger before, and explained that some people found the 1 tablespoon of ginger in the drink to be a lot, but others did a triple shot. I figured I was OK, because I love ginger. But the 1 tablespoon almost made the latte undrinkable. She frothed a bit more oat milk for me to add to 'water down' the ginger, which did help. read more

Kale Caesar salad had a nice balance of kale to romaine and great crunch with the chickpeas but could have used a little acid or some other layer of flavor. Harvest bowl sounded good and looked beautiful. Some of the smallest bits of tempeh I've ever gotten in a bowl of food from a restaurant . Tasted fine but was definitely missing something. Ordered a hummus wrap and there's barely any hummus in it. Just a very thin smear that you can barely see on the wrap. It's mostly just veggies. It's like eating a dry, bland salad but in a wrap. What's the point? Don't get me wrong. I love veggies. Salads are one of my favorite foods. But come on, if I'm paying for hummus I expect to at least taste it/see it. Literally all I could taste is the bell pepper and onion. Not worth the price. Mostly likely will never go back. Go to the Juicery instead. Better tasting wraps for sure. My favorite smoothie place. As someone who wishes she ate more healthily, I can see the Fresh Press becoming my go-to place, the place that will encourage me to follow through with my plans for healthier living...if only I lived closer (and didn't love all foods so much). Food: I've had their acai bowl with strawberries, banana, and almond butter (it was a limited special and I've forgotten the name of the dish; strawberries were what I added, although I realized that it was completely unnecessary). In addition, I've tried their Acai Power smoothie and Blue Majik (chia pudding with ginger and coconut shavings). -Acai bowl: unlike the Juicery (which I still enjoy), the acai mix at the Fresh Press was more substantial, thicker, and has no hint of too many ice cubes being added into the mix. A highlight of their version is the use of cocoa powder in the acai, lending a earthier, grittier, fuller taste. The bowl itself was also delicious as the combination was perfect. The bananas lent a nice sweetness and mellowing factor while the almond butter was viscous and allowed for a few gritty bites to introduce variability into the texture. It was sweet enough to make you ask for seconds and light enough to make you feel happy with your decision. Again, I should have taken it as is, but the strawberries gave a nice freshness to the bowl. -Acai Power: same as the acai bowl, as the base is the same. -Blue Majik: a slightly blue chia pudding with ginger, coconut shavings, and almond milk that is apparently good for your joints. The chia seeds seemed to have been grounded into the pudding, so you won't get whole seeds, but the pudding itself was nearly jello-like. I ate this four hours after getting it at room temperature (lunch break!) and the first bite still blew me away. Coconut shavings are always just a nice mellowing addition to any dish. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish it as I'm not a fan of ginger and there was just a bit too much of it. Given that phenomenal first bite, though, I will definitely get this again, eat it while it's fresh, and share it with a friend. Recommendations: -A quick pre-work day grab or a nice post workout recovery location. read more

We (my company and I) have given the Fresh Press continued business and almost every single time our order has been incorrect/ missing items. When we have called to discuss the issues we have experienced they are extremely disrespectful and refuse to correct any mistakes made. We stopped here for a vegan friendly desert after eating elsewhere. The smoothies were fantastic. I had a chocolate Popeye with peppermint and it was excellent. My wife had the tropical twist which was good as well. The real pleasant surprise was the maca hot chocolate with peppermint. You couldn't tell it was dairy free and it had a great chocolate flavor. The variety of acai bowls are the best I've ever had, I highly recommend the Arnold ( house made peanut butter mmmmm) The cold press juice is always fresh & consistent. Listen, there is hardly a lack of delicious food to be had in Portsmouth. We stopped here intending to stay for 12 hours, had our first meal in town and now it's day three. If you are on the go, or even if you'd like to spend your mealtime in-house, this is as good as it gets for healthy, quick and most importantly, delicious food. Juices, wraps and salads galore, there is no shortage of choices and flavors. Even the most diabetic of folk would gladly gulp down the Secret Greens Juice - all the vitamins with none of that fresh cut lawn taste. (*On a side note - I love that flavor so I was happy to shoot back a few ounces of their wheat-grass while I was in town.) As I type, I'm working on my second salad since finding The Fresh Press. Yesterday's lunch was a a tangy, colorful and chock-a-block Asian salad. The organic ingredients were a welcome addition to an already stellar bowl. Today's salad is the Chicken Avocado with goat's cheese. Here's the thing - I don't eat any cheese or dairy at all... apparently I also don't pay much attention to ingredients listed on the menu. When my salad arrived complete with the cheese, not only did they have absolutely NO problem with remaking my salad, they did so at a speed that would make you believe that it was their error. Amazing customer service here. They even remembered my birthday! After a few very special upscale meals here in town, it was certainly a pleasure to find this little gem of a salad, wrap and juice hub. Great people, excellent prices and a lot of bang-on choices. Great service, WICKED TASTY drinks, a ton of options. Expensive, but that's expected of a juice bar and this is one where the price and wait are worth it! Definitely not the best atmosphere to dine in, as it is in an alley and has pretty low ceilings, but would be good to get on-the-go and eaten at another location or on a walk through the town.
