This is a small review for The Juicery for their smoothies, chia pudding, and coconut zucchini muffin. I had three smoothies from this place: Acai Energy, Peanut Butter Bliss, and Acai Mint. Each of these tasted very good and contained excellent ingredients and, in general, sat well in my sensitive stomach :) The chia pudding was very good. I had never had anything like it. I'd get it again. I was impressed that they made this without dairy. The coconut zucchini muffin was very good. It's small but very filling. Mouthfuls of coconut. If you're a vegan, you'll love this place. There are so many different juice offerings and you've got to check out the open fridge where the chia pudding, noodle salads, and other delights exist. What a cute little cafe. There are limited seating options inside as this is mostly a grab and go kinda place. The staff was super sweet and great with our allergy requests. Service was fast, even though there was a ton of pickups orders. I ordered the red, white and blue acai bowl with some substitutions and it was fabulous. The açaí can be made with almond or oat milk which is awesome for all my dairy free/lactose intolerant friends. I chose almond milk and the texture of the acai was smooth, not icey like other places I've been. The fruit tasted fresh and not frozen which can be very typical at other places. Refreshing! This is the perfect place to grab a cold drink on a hot day. It's located in a cute part of Kittery near some other shops, so it's worth checking out. Not to mention, there are lots of healthy options on the menu! Extremely simple inside the Juicery, but you don't need much when you have a great and simple product. I got their Acai bowl - made with a blend of acai and guarana (a seed that is usually used in smoothies for additional fruit flavors and caffeine, in case you had no idea like myself), and topped with banana, pb, granola, coconut and cacao nibs. The acai blend was a bit more sweet than I'm used to which I would assume comes from that guarana. It was definitely one of the top acai bowls that I have had at a fair price in my mind. Approximately $9 for a bowl, where I feel like nowadays you will see them for upwards of $12/13. The only thing I didn't prefer was the granola that was used, which had more of an artificial taste (could be completely wrong, but #thoughts). The Juicery has plenty of options for everyone! Juices, super juices, smoothies, speciality smoothies, wraps, salads, or giant bowls of goodness. My friend ordered the Whoa Nellie (banana, strawberry, raspberry, yogurt, coconut, apple juice, and almond milk) and I got the Kali Mango (mango, yogurt, coconut, honey, orange juice, and almond milk) without the yogurt. They both hit the spot perfectly especially right before a very intense yoga class. Loved the flecks of chewy coconut that came through the straw on occasion! 10/10 would get again! But... I will echo what others have said: the service here isn't particularly friendly. When we walked in we weren't greeted or, for that matter, even looked at - neither were the customers before or after us. The two girls working were both hanging out on their phones ignoring everyone. We noticed that everyone ordering had to say something to get their attention and have them come over to the cash register (and the place is pretty small, so this shouldn't be an issue). Like, "Hi, are you busy?" or "I'm ready to order now!" Kind of a bummer, but the smoothie was darn good and the sunshine lured me back out onto the streets anyway. Excellent selection of fresh, organic juice blends (no concentrates) or you can build your own. They sell smoothes & fresh bites as well (i.e. wraps, salads, etc.). I wish i would've found this place earlier. I found this place on my last full day in Portsmouth. It's just a block outside of the city center, right near one of the hotels. I can have grapefruit y'all day if you let me. I didn't spend much time inside, so i can't really speak on their service in retrospect i guess that is kind of a good thing. I was surprised they were still open later in the day, and happy as I love their cashew butter avocado toast. The woman who took our order was really pleasant and didn't seem annoyed that it was almost closing (always feel a bit bad ordering near to closing). The toast was fantastic - whoever came up with avocado and cashew butter as a combo was a genius! We also picked up a Greek salad. The salad was okay but the lemon dressing was congealed and not very good and it was pretty lettuce heavy (it advertised tomato and cucumber but I found almost none in the lettuce mix). Prices are a bit high but the quality of the food is excellent. I'll be back to one of their many locations for more of that toast for sure. read more

From the outside, if you blink or aren't paying attention, you will walk right past it. It's small. I decided to treat myself to lunch there twice this week and called my order in ahead of time. On both Wednesday and Thursday, I ordered a 24 oz Green Juice with the Good Doctors Greens and a Big Fresh Salad no onions, no dressing, add hummus and pickles. The woman on the phone said it would be ready in fifteen minutes. When I walked over fifteen minutes later, it was ready, and I brought it back to my office to eat where I added Goddess dressing (from the Portsmouth Health Food store) and roasted garbanzo beans (also from the Portsmouth Health Food store) to it. Green Juice is an organic super juice consisting of celery, cucumber, kale, and parsley. Good Doctors Greens created by Dr. Lebro of Kittery and are a mix of wheat grass, barley grass, spirulina, chlorella, acidophilus, and bee pollen. Big Fresh Salad consists of Romaine lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, red cabbage, cucumber, and sprouts, and I added hummus and pickles to mine. Before coming into the Juicery Wednesday and Thursday this week, I had been battling allergy related fatigue and exhaustion and two days of clean eating is what I needed to offset my love of caffeine and cheese in copious excess. Now Friday morning, I feel rejuvenated. The Green Juice was refreshing and felt like a blissfully delicious longevity elixir. You will need to drink as quickly as possible or else it's going to get weird and not a good weird. The Big Fresh Salad was cut into colorful blocks with the hummus and sprouts in the middle on top. All of the veggies looked and tasted fresh and not browning or unappealing. Alex, the owner, is doing it right. Both days when I went in, I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly, and courteous the staff working were considering how busy they get. read more

The Juicery was right next to my hotel when I was up in Portsmouth for a business trip and was probably my first real introduction into smoothies. As smoothies go, it was much more reasonably priced, averaging $6-8 dollars without additions, which I have yet to find in Boston. Smoothies: I've tried the Acai Energy and Kali Mango. They are both great morning smoothies, giving you a wakeup call and energy boost much different from the headache inducing effects of caffeine. You can also add in supplements like chia seeds and spirulina (algae, anyone?). Juices are also star items here, but I have yet to try them. - For the Kali Mango, the freshness of the mango was quite obvious - there was just a bit too much mango, though, that overpowered the other flavors in the drink. Glad I tried it, but would probably stick to the Acai Energy -The Acai Energy is my favorite, lighter and refreshing with the strawberries coming through as a nice compliment. Compared to the Acai Power at the Fresh Press, though, the Acai Energy tastes more watered-down, perhaps a bit too much ice. Food: Had the nori wrap and acai bowl. - The nori wrap was fresh and the ginger sesame dip a very nice touch. It was full of bright and fresh veggies surrounded by a layer of brown rice and seaweed. While tasty, each bite was a bit too much to handle as the entire roll was cut into roughly five pieces. There was also a bit too much carrots which overpowered the other, lighter ingredients. -The acai bowl was also good and made with the same base as the acai smoothie and topped with various ingredients - personally, I would have preferred the bowl to be a bit thicker, though. Recommendations: As a post workout recovery snack or early morning wake up call, this is a great place to hit up. I might start going over to the Fresh Press more, though, as thicker smoothies are delicious(and especially for their acai bowls). Still, I fluctuate between the two depending on whether I crave a lighter or heavier smoothie. read more

I am a repeat customer. This is the type of place I feel I get a good value. You could say it's expensive to pay $5 for a cup of juice; but I find it is a fair price for how great it makes me feel. I don't feel as energized and healthy after eating an $8 sandwich somewhere else. So I keep coming back here for the juice. Actually I always get smoothies, which are juice blends. I can never remember which one is my favorite; so I seem to get a new one each time. They will even customize it for you, for example I can't handle a full on green cup of liquid kale; but they will add a leaf or two of kale to another smoothie with citrus, etc. I always seem to get lucky with the parking out front. I've been to Portsmouth twice and every time I come to the juicery! I'm surprised by the options at portsmouth for raw juice. I actually went to try another one but I was appalled by their customer service....the lady told me I couldn't have an avocado in my smoothie because of her beliefs...so I told her she couldn't have my money and walked out. And I came to this place which made me exactly what I wanted and all with a smile. I got the kale storm with avocado. Their recipe was verrryyy lemony. Way too lemony for me. So the next time I just subbed out the lemon for orange and it was way more palatable. They also have great juices which I've gotten as well. They have soups, salads, and sandwiches. Was super excited to wake up to a fresh green juice after a night of drinks and too much food! Came into the juicery around 9am and my bf and I noticed a strange smell. Not sure what it was, but headed towards the menu to order. The girl taking our order wasn't overly friendly, but did the job. He had a tropical treat smoothie with protein and machta. The girl who took our order asked the other if she'd ever made one and she said no, so this was her first "try". I was skeptical, but it tasted very good. I had a 20 oz "jungle" juice and I liked that they made the juice to order, rather than serving from a fridge. It was very green tasting, and though I like my green juices iced, i was glad to get my full 20 oz worth. I ended up adding ice and enjoyed it thoroughly.
