There was (I'm sure it's gone by now!) a brand spank'n new coffee maker, neat stacks of jeans, generous racks of men's and women's clothing, rows of shoes and boots, and the cutest sets of colorful tableware. It doesn't stop there, though. The upstairs houses an incipient collection of home furnishings, anchored by a gorgeous over-stuffed upholstered chair and an antique bamboo table. One Yelper even commented to me that you "slit your own throat" with replies like the one you left me. Just so we are clear "slit your own throat" is figurative NOT literal, it is a figure of speech. What was meant by that comment is that you give the unsatisfied customers more credibility because of the harsh reply, it makes you look like the bad guy. If you read Help For Business Owners, Yelp gives some practical suggestions to help Business Owners to respond to negative reviews in a tactful way that helps defuse situations such as this one, instead of being threatening. I mean I wouldn't want you to get sued in return, Yelpers are well protected by the 1st Amendment and Anti- slapp legislation. I amended my review and took out the words that offended you because I am a reasonable person. I do not wish anything bad upon you. I am just expressing my opinion, feelings and telling my experience. I hope your business continues to do well and that you learn from experiences such as the one that I had and improve the customer service you give to your con-signers. Maybe that improvement would be something as simple as agreeing upon a set price to sell the consigned item for before taking it for consignment and putting it in writing.

Returned today. She never put them out and she never tagged them never inventoried them so she asked me to look in a boxful and try to find them. They are my wife's pocketbooks.I didn't know. I found a few cute items that I was going to buy and was standing looking at some dresses on a rack, when one of the employees with a name tag that said MIA accosted me out of nowhere. She said, "Did you touch that dress?" She was pointing at a dress to my right on a different rack than the one I was looking at that was hanging half way off of the hanger. I responded no to her smiling and said thank you but I am not interested in that dress. Then she got very aggressive with me and said, "If you touched that dress and it's not hung up correctly then you should make sure you put it back right." I had no idea what she was talking about, I never looked at nor touched the dress. Then it occurred to me that she was implying that I was inconsiderate towards her, which was crazy since I didn't even do anything, but let's say hypothetically that I did. I have worked at numerous clothing stores and would never start yelling at a customer for not hanging up something correctly. I would just fix it because it was my job. Anyway, she continued to come after me with an intense look in her eyes and I was very uncomfortable, so I left the items I was going to buy and texted my husband to meet me at the front of the store. I told one of the employees at the front what happened and he just stared at me and said, "Ummm there's the manager." The manager he pointed to was an older man in a disheveled outfit and gruff demeanor, I think his name was Vincent, and when I told him what happened he said, "Well I wasn't there so I don't know who said what or what happened." I was absolutely shocked by his response. I was clearly shaken up and he made no effort to hear me or make me feel better. It was kind of shocking, I mean, this is the level of professionalism that Nordstrom Rack has with its leadership and customer service? It is a joke. At a minimum he should have apologized and attempted to make me feel better. I HAVE been a manager and I would have apologized to the customer, would have said I would speak to the employee, and that we value your support of our store. It's obvious Nordstrom Rack at this Danvers location could care less how they run the store (which is always a mess), or the people they hire. This was a hugely disappointing experience. My husband and I have always spent a lot of money there, but they have lost us as customers.

I just want to correct what another poster said: Big Blue Bargains is located on Norfolk Ave in Swampscott and the back door of the former Clarke Elementary School (not the Middle School which is on a different street).

They're located on the backside of Swampscott Middle School and the friendly volunteers told me that they've been open for four years. They operate to raise funds for the Swampscott school system. This place is awesome - they have mostly clothes for adults and kiddos, with some small home goods and a smattering of other random items. I got some great stuff and all on the cheap - 2 pair of pants, 2 workout tops, a pair of boots, a backpack, and a couple small decorative items, all for about $20. I'll be visiting this store again, and I hope you will, too! Word to the wise, they're only open Wed mornings and Saturdays until 1 and they seem to be cash only (tho I didn't verify this).

They do have a $1 day on a designated tag color weekly, but you'll need to call to check the day. Majority of the few employees only speak Spanish but I rarely have any questions so it's not a problem for me. Lots of metered parking and a parking lot but I worry about getting blocked in, so street parking seems like the best option.
