So as a nerd how could I not eat here? Firstly the staff is amazing, so nice and service minded. We sat outside which was fine they had a little heater so it was no problem. I had the herb and garlic chicken with sweet potato fries and my friend had a goat cheese and prosciutto calzone. The food was alright but I was in no way impressed. I haven't been here in ages, and I am glad to say that the pizza is better than I remember, well the toppings anyway! The base did not last long, and became very soggy, so it had to be eaten with a knife and fork! Needs to be crispier (maybe a hotter oven, or dryer tomato sauce)? We had no reservation at 6.45pm on a Saturday, and they catered for 8 of us (once we left by 8.15). This gave us plenty of time. All in a decent experience, and they stock a few craft beers too. Gotham Cafe is a great jumping off point for a night out in town. Right next door to Kehoe's for a pint (or Venu acros the road for an expensive cocktail treat). The food is decent, and the pizza is very good. I have tried several of the mains available and never been disappointed but the real reason to head to Gotham is the pizza. There are several tasty conventional options, but the one to start with in my opinion is the Chinatown (Barbecued Peking Duck Pizza with slices of oven roasted duck, spring onion, cashew nuts, hoisin sauce and mozzarella cheese). I've convinced several people of varying tastes to give it a shot and so far everyone has loved it. The unusual pizza options, high pizza standard and good location bump this up from a 3 to a 4 - I've used it as a nice casual spot to meet up with friends before a night out several times and I will probably do so again. read more

Do not get the theme of this restaurant but the pork sandwich was pretty good not sure why the portabello mushroom sandwich was more expensive by €1+,it would be cheaper to stick to the magic mushrooms. Service was good with 3 servers and 2 tables. read more

I'm currently moving house and eating the stodgy contents of my freezer so it was a welcome change to finally get out for a proper meal. I came around half four so I was still able to get the lunch menu-- it's more or less all things from the regular menu but two courses are 16 euro. I had the calamari and the Gotham burger. The calamari were lovely, the batter crispy but not too thick, and a perfectly sized portion. The burger was also quite good, I really liked the sauce that was layered on both sides of the burger, which was on a soft-bap roll. I'm a bit lost in Ireland when it comes to burgers because health and safety won't allow me to get them as juicy (bloooood) as I'd like. So I'm never totally happy but this was pretty tasty! It also came with a side of nicely cooked chips with the skins still on. For a lunch this was extremely filling, and I suppose a little pricey but worth it, since it's a full meal. The service was great, everyone I dealt with was very pleasant and the food was very quick. I must have come at a scheduling break because everyone who initially seated me/took my order ended up leaving and I was given a new waiter. I'm sure the others were happier to get off work than they were sad to miss out on my tip but I did feel bad not being able to give it to my actual servers! Oh well, maybe next time. We selected Gotham Cafe for a late dinner as it was one of the few restaurants that was not packed on St. Patrick's Day. No complaints on the food and service here. The menu includes many pizzas, sandwiches and salads and a wide beer and wine selection. Pricing is fair given it's location. Great proximity to a fun photo opp at The Umbrellas right down the street. Not an incredibly memorable experience, but a good quick spot for an American style meal. read more

Only negative really is there was a long delay in between starters and mains, but this may have been due to a busy lunchtime crowd. I came here after reading the reviews online but I was utterly disappointed with service and the mediocre food. We ordered a pizza and a burger. The pizza was VERY Greasy and the burger was ok. The service by the waiter was horrible!! He never never returned to the table and we waited over 30 minutes. The restaurant was not even half full. Tried a 9" pizza @ €11.95 a couple of days ago. It had two thin slices of parma ham, diced tomatoes, goats cheese and lots of basil. Overall it was a disappointment: the base was bland, stiff and rubbery and it reminded me of the garlic bread you can buy from Marks and Spencer. The rest of the ingredients little could do to help the feeling I was eating a piece of bread with something on top of it. People claiming that this is the place where one should go for a pizza should stick to the ready made ones from Tesco... The atmosphere was good and the staff was polite and friendly. Very attentive service! Myself, my husband and our 10 month old daughter went to the Gotham Cafe for lunch and I must say - the staff could not be better or more helpful. It is certainly one of the most baby-friendly places I've been to over the last while. Previously I was there with friends, work colleagues, etc. and on every occasion I left satisfied with the service I received. The food is always nice & fresh, and the central location makes it a very accessible spot. I would certainly recommend it for a casual meal. read more

An old haunt is Gotham Cafe for me and my best friend. We found ourselves here after doing some wedding related stuff and decided it was the best place to reward our endeavours. The walls are more or less the same with vast array of framed Rolling Stones magazine covers. As is the menu too, more or less the same, of which I ordered the Louisiana Fish cakes. These are still awesome, but I am sure they have gotten smaller in size. They have craft beer and cider now too - yay! So I ordered a few pale ales to wash down my meal. The staff were fine, on the ball but not too in your face. One guy working the floor has been there for as long as I can remember. He's very pleasant, it was nice to see a familiar face there. I really wanted to like this place, and I really liked the food. The lamb burger with those purple onions was brilliant. So then why am I giving it 2 stars? Well, the chips (aka fries in America) were not the best. They seemed off. But that's surely not enough to knock them a whole 3 stars. The other reason lies in the fact that I had to wait nearly 30 or 40 minutes for food when I was told 15. Fine fine, the kitchen is busy - sure. I should give them another chance. Well, if the kitchen is so packed, how did the two parties which came after me (one a couple of minutes, the other about 15 minutes) have their food and checks before I even got mine? Also, where was my ketchup? I asked for ketchup - after you asked me if I wanted any (which I did!). If you go, and that's a big if now - try that lamb burger. Avoid the service. We didnot have a booking but were asked to wait for few minutes and they found us a table available for an hour which was good. any way the service was good and the place was decent. The food on the other hand was good. Was there with a group of 10 and we got a really nice spot at the back. They do an early bird for 2 courses for 17 euros. Had the Italian antipasti platter followed by a woodfired regular pizza. The pizza was small-ish but it was well enough with the starter. Besides it was really good and would leave room for dessert. Possible to order large pizzas too but not in the early bird. The staff was very nice. The only ready I'm not giving 5 it's because we had to wait but the place was very busy on a Thursday evening. Went to Gotham Cafe recently straight after work as I fancied some pizza. There are several tasty options, but I went with Brooklyn Bridge which had Thai style chicken with sweet chilli sauce, spinach, roasted sweet peppers, red onion and coriander and mozzarella which I recommend highly. I also sampled a Brooklyn Craft Beer which was tasty and went for Chocolate Brownie for dessert which was so so. Staff as always are very helpful. GIVE ME ALL THE PIZZA! The pizza here is so good! SO GOOD! Gotham is a casual pizza place to go to when you want to grab lunch with friends or a quick bite to eat in the evening. It provides good service and delicious pizza. I brought my Ozzy and American friends here and they were very impressed with the pizza. The vegetarian, Aromatic duck, so-Ho and No-Ho pizzas are all delicious... But I'm sure the rest of them are as well. As I'm addicted to Chilli, I would suggest you ask for the chilli flakes when your pizza arrives to sprinkle over. 17€ 2 course early bird Is good value, though to be fair a pizza really is enough but you should always treat yo'self when eating out. I have to say it's one of the best pizza places to go to in Dublin. Their sister restaurant Independent Pizza is what brought me here (located beside Drumcondra train station) it's been going since the early 80's so they're been doing this pizza thing a long time. One guy in particular is a really good waiter, he has glasses and sallow skin. The other staff I've encountered are also pleasant. They're all pretty laid back and chill. read more

My friend and I were in search of a "pub" for our first night in Dublin, but being that we really needed some food, and the pubs were starting to really fill up, this place seemed a welcome food option. Upon reviewing the menu, I found it had a California feel to it (we were from California). I ordered the ribeye steak with green pepper sauce and oven roasted portabello mushrooms. WOW was it great! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was flavorful without having too much fat. I added shrimp to my meal - and they were cooked to have perfect texture. The servers were wonderfully responsive and helped my friend decide on a meal selection, listening to her preferences. Interestingly, she requested some ranch dressing only to find out that they don't have ranch - and didn't even know what it was. Still, they tried to accommodate the request by bringing her what they thought would be close (some kind of aioli). The food was fresh and delicious, the flavors were well combined. It was a chance encounter, but a wonderful experience. A great first dinner in Dublin! read more

Love, love, love this little place! Pizza is amazing...many varied toppings and selections. I am a Philly girl where pizza is very much a staple, but I have never had such delicious pizza. We were here on a Friday evening, and although it was crowded, we were able to get a table for four in the back...lucky, because the place was hopping! Delighted to have made the choice to have dinner at Gotham, and just his past weekend, my husband and I popped in for lunch. The cafe was once again, bustling, but we scored a table right in the front and sat down to a lovely lunch of Caesar salad and a starter of luscious pitted green olives. The only reason I didn't give five stars was the lack of space that seems to happen at lunch time and dinner rush hour, but it didn't seem to affect us, we were seated, but others had to wait for seating. I love this place! Most of the reviews here are for the pizza, but do yourself a favour and try the crab cakes - they are amazing! Although I've tried other meals on the menu from time to time (to my satisfaction), I always go back for the Louisiana Crab cake salad. When my friend and I met here recently we realised that we've been diners at Gotham for over 15 years now. Life is shocking enough when you can count things in such long periods of time, but more shocking still is that neither of us could ever remember being served anything other than great quality, delicious food by friendly, efficient and competent staff. This is a great spot for families, they're always accommodating of kids, and have the essential crayons on hand to keep busy hands occupied. It's also a great spot for bringing people who's taste in food you may not be sure of (overseas visitors etc) as there's something for everyone on the menu. Also delicious are the garlic prawns starter, and their cheesecake, eton mess and brownie are beautiful desserts. Bloody hell, I've made myself hungry just writing the review! read more

Went there after class in college for a coffee. We ended up eating and drinking. The Chardonnay i had was good though it wasn't french haha. Sorry about that but i do love my french wine. The garlic bread is perfect, it smells heavenly. It was a good appetizer to keep us waiting for diner. Very humble, but perfect for late afternoon. I don't know anyone who is not a fan of this place. It's just a great spot for a bite to eat at any time, be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It 's always so reliable. They used to not take reservations as far as I remember but I see on their website that they too now. The last time I was in here I had the most divine cobb salad - the dressing was simply delicious and I keep meaning to go back for another! My friend had the sausages and mash and loved it too. The bangers come from Hick's, which is known for its sausages/ The Gotham is located in a great part of town too. It's very near Kehoe's so it's handy for going for food before a night out on the town drinking pints and the like. It's casual and laid back in there and while it's cool and trendy it thankfully lacks pretentiousness. It's also very reasonable, which has to be a good thing in this economic climate. Love the décor as well - front covers of Rolling Stone magazines grace the wall. read more

I would say Gourmet pizzas are the specialty of this restaurant. It a really nice restaurant to go for for lunch or dinner, I have been here many times with my partner, and we enjoy it here everytime. They have many things on the menu. Its also a small restaurant, so I would recommend reserving a table in advance. If you want to go somewhere quiet then dont go here, its busy and loud, but I like that.
