Some helpful hints based on our experience: 1. A big countertop dealer like MSI, located in Elk Grove Village, has a very large showroom where you can see the full countertop slabs. We had some preferences based on the web site pictures and the little quartz samples, but ended up selecting a different slab once we were in the showroom. You really want to see the full countertop slabs before your decision is finalized. 2. We were really disappointed with the Home Depot service, which is The Countertop Factory - Midwest. There was an extremely hard sell visit to our house and a take-it-or-leave it price. 3. Many quartz countertop installation services want you to select quartz they already have in stock. Davan let us shop around and we selected an MSI countetop, which MSI already had in stock. Our job therefore proceeded quickly from final slab selection to installation (less than two weeks). 4. I was unnecessarily nervous about our kitchen tile backsplash when our old formica countertops were replaced with new quartz countertops. We wanted to retain the old kitchen backsplash. That was not a problem and the installation occurred smoothly.

He worked with me on the size and found a remnant that perfectly matched my existing counter top. Once I assembled my island and called Davan I was ready, they came a day later! But after many unanswered emails and phone calls to them, we became frustrated and decided to look for another company. I did a Yelp search and sent messages to 5 different businesses. Dejan was the first person to respond (7 minutes after I sent the initial message - talk about responsive!!!) I can confidently say that DK Stone's prices are the best in the market after comparing them amongst the other 4 competitors. The best part is that everyone else had told me that I would need to buy at least 2 slabs for the dimensions of our countertop. I asked Dejan how many slabs we would need and he said ONE SLAB for both island countertop and stovetop countertop!! He was able to calculate a configuration that would get everything done with minimal waste - this was huge in terms of cost. He had his guys come out to measure 5 days later and the counter tops were installed a couple of weeks after that. Everything was perfect, they were so efficient. Okay so now you have an idea of their work but what about service? Someone had accidentally taken our garbage disposal ring when they were cleaning up after the job so we couldn't get the disposal installed - we reached out to Dejan and he had someone drop it off. He could have easily ghosted us since the job was done but he was still just as responsive. We seriously cannot recommend DK Stone enough - we are so impressed and after being let down by so many other companies this was the breath of fresh air we needed.

She then measured carefully, offered suggestions for countertops, cabinets, etc. She mindfully drew up plans and a proposal, including all of the detailed specs we desired. We signed, and the project began. We were very pleased with the communication throughout the project. Their carpenter, Ken, was fabulous. He worked diligently with his crew of Scott and Jerry to get everything to our liking. We had a very custom (not stock) project, and everyone was gracious and meticulous when we changed our minds about a few items as they were being built/installed. Although the job ended up running longer than expected (as all contruction does, and remember, we had multiple changes), In the end we are thrilled with the finished project. Communication was tight from start to finish, respect and clean up was spot on. Any changes we made midstream were always carefully ironed out, with any additional quotes included. We had no surprises with the bill, as everything was always discussed and agreed upon first. We will most definitely refer Customwood Kitchens to anyone seeking a kitchen remodel. The integrated white sink was also looking dingy. Well, the Stone Shop did a truly outstanding job repairing the break and making the sink look brand new. The repair was a difficult one to do, involving color matching and a rounded edge. We couldn't be more pleased with this outfit. The 3 guys who arrived called ahead 20 min, and were super careful to measure thrice and keep measuring and using a level as the piece dried. I felt very confident watching their concern to get the piece on the backsplash in an attractive and straight manner. They could not have been more professional. I'll say it once and say it again: when you deal with the salespeople at The Granite Corporation (that's their real name not "Granite") you kind of doubt that they have a clue about what they're selling. I don't know what will happen and it takes too long for them to finish up a sale, even though they mean well. However, when the measure & install team shows up, those are the people who really know what they're doing. They are top pros. I asked Sam, my sales person, how are they going to make sure the glue holds on a vertical application, and she did not know. I asked her if I should cover my stove, and she said, don't worry (of course, I did). When they showed up, they scored the back of both my backsplash and the new piece, so more glue would be applied. They applied glue all around the perimeter (not visable). They taped the piece in place and I put a spongy rug on my stove (just in case). They said, glue sets in 10 minutes and they held it that long, and it is good to go in a couple hours when I can take off tape. I would have liked to know that there would be a little granite dust in my kitchen ahead of time, to have removed everything from countertops, but they did hold up a vacuum while they scored my backsplash, so I cannot say that I see any dust (besides my own). They scored the new piece outside my house. The treasure here is the cutting, measuring & install team. They are premium craftsmen, very experienced and know how to communicate with the public. They're the ones who should be selling the granite!

We moved into our new house last summer. It's a 1978 quad-level and has had one previous owner. We're still in the process of making changes, but the new countertops from GRANITE CORP were a huge step toward our final vision. Pairing honey oak cabinets with the grays and blues I love has been a challenge. Wall paint and backsplash still to come. Granite Corp was amazingly helpful - found just the right quartz countertop for us and an affordable composite sink. Best price by over $2000 (we did get in on a holiday special). The entire experience was perfect.
