Just passing through town, and was feeling some crepes. We ordered: Te Fiti Strawberry fields Florentine Cookie Monster Food was great, would definitely go there for the food. It's an intimate area and the people seems to know each other. The down side was the staff or patrons, seemingly regulars didn't make us feel welcomed. This is such a chill wine bar. The owners are always welcoming and the wine is delicious! I like purchasing wine and champagne bottles from them because it's convenient and sometimes cheaper than in store....plus the wine they have isn't sold anywhere in Redding. Jim, the owner of the Grape Escape, is a wine expert who personally visits wineries and vineyards throughout the state to bring interesting wines at great prices to downtown Redding. The new site next to the Cascade Theater is convenient and the inside is charming - cozy, clean and sets the right atmosphere with old-style architecture and wine-related decor. Each time I have visited, I discovered wines that I had not heard of but that impressed me enough to buy some bottles for my already overstocked wine cabinet. It's fun to hear the stories of the wineries as you sip their wines. And the staff does a great job of finding wines that may not be on the current tasting list if they see that the customer's palate matches something they have stashed in their cellar. I've not tried the food that is offered, but the limited menu was inviting and appropriate to a wine & tapas kind of experience. Having sampled wine all over the U.S. and in many different countries, I am very happy that Redding now has a fun and interesting venue for both experienced aficionados and those who are new to the enjoyment of wine. Redding, are you looking for a great date night? Grape Escape/Crepe Escape is the place! Jim, owner of Grape Escape, took care of my wife and I like we were the only people there. They have excellent wine and draft beer. My wife got the Chardonnay and loved it. I got a Fall River Hexigenia - always good. My wife ordered the Florentine Crape, and I ordered the Blue Monday Crepe. Chef Richie of Crepe Escape (formerly The Brasserie) brought them out himself. We were seated out on the patio, which is in process of "renovation". They also have nice seating inside and on the front porch. The presentation of the crepes was appealing. We were blown away by how good the crepes were. These are not your standard wrap-type fare. They are the real deal with high quality ingredients. We split the Lemon Zeppelin Crepe for dessert - wow! Just the crepe itself was delicious, but filled with yummy strawberries and a coating of lemon curd on the crepe sent it over the top. Yum! Superior food and drink, attentive service that makes you feel like part of the family, and a nice vibe makes this a special experience. Their prices are also very reasonable for what you get. I really love this place it's a nice quaint little wine bar with high-quality wines. It is amongst several fine restaurants in the downtown REDDING area. The Mrs and I love to come here relax have a nice glass of wine. The owner is always on hand willing to answer questions about the wine and share various wine experiences that either he or I have been on. I would say this is Redding's best Wine bar.
