The Grape Taste presents itself as a minimalist concept, but in practice it feels like a restaurant trying to be several identities at once. The menu is intentionally restrained in structure, yet broad in direction cheese trays. unexpected, almost out of place for a small establishment, tapas as a newer addition, a strong emphasis on wine with a sweet wine flight, alongside steaks, sides, pastas, and even burgers. There's ambition in the variety, though not always cohesion. Seafood leans heavily on tilapia, which appears disproportionately across the fish selection. Not inherently negative, but noticeable. The ribeye, priced at $33.95, carried mixed execution. tender in parts, but inconsistent with noticeable dry sections. The scallops arrived cold, which significantly disrupted what should have been a highlight dish. Service was not the issue. Atmosphere was calm, controlled, and easy to sit in without distraction. The space itself does not fight the experience. it simply holds it. In totality, the restaurant lands in an uneven space: capable, sometimes enjoyable, but inconsistent in execution where it matters most. 4/5. good, but not well. -L.T read more

The Grape Taste was a great find after moving to Lake Jackson. The place is decorated as a wine bar but has a restaurant vibe. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. Wine menu is great. My husband and I had some drinks and shared some tapas. There are great choices of cheese for the cheese board. The stuffed avocado was tasty. This is some good dining in Lake Jackson. Get here to grab a seat, it's very popular for lunch. Staff and owner are very friendly, helpful and attentive. Loved the entree of chicken fried steak, crispy batter and a tender piece of steak. They made canned green beans delicious, that was probably the best part of the meal. Desserts are a must as well. Strawberry tres leches cake for the win and now comes caramel cheese cake to tie! All and all a great meal. read more

A group of seven of us went to dinner here last night. It was early so it wasn't busy. It was small and had a nice, cozy feel. During our time there I saw several couples that looked like they were having a nice date night. The servers were friendly and offered help and kept our water glasses full. The menu was quite large so I was surprised at how good our food was! Also surprised at how quickly it came out! Several got the crab cakes and were raving. I got a cheddar burger and it was delicious! The enchiladas were good too so they can do a large variety of food very well! I do not live in the area or I would visit regularly. They have a nice selection of wines and a full bar so you can even get a martini. For dessert we got cheesecake. A salted caramel and a pumpkin. Both were delicious! I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. The Food was excellent but the waiters were rude. We did not have an assigned server. We had 4 different people serving our table. They all made us feel like we needed to eat and get out asap. No warm and friendly service making you feel welcomed or appreciated. One of the waitresses asked if we needed anything else. While we were answering she immediately turned around to hug and greet a gentleman walking by and completely ignored us. They have their regulars. This is a nice spot for a romantic dinner, girls night, or even a business meeting. Great atmosphere with great service and friendly servers. They offer wine flights with many wines to choose from! The fried green tomatoes are delicious. They have cheese platters with fruit & nuts that go great with your wines! The full bar has great selections but my favorite was the Lemon Drop Lavender Martini. Lots of tasty tapas (appetizers) to enjoy. They also have some patio seating that you can enjoy. read more

The service was excellent, with the staff all trying to take care of everyone as quickly as possible. The ambience was good, but a little darker than I prefer when it's daylight. The fried green tomatoes were good, and the creamy herb sauce was a nice touch. However, my mahi-mahi had too many mistakes. 1) The polenta was undercooked (gritty), dry, and bland. 2) The spinach was raw, and not all of it was directly under the fish, so some very crunchy stems were present. 3) The orange reduction sauce did not go with the mahi-mahi crust. A beurre blanc would have paired well with the fish. 4) The presentation was a bit odd--a pool of sauce in one corner of the plate, and the polenta in the other. I'm not a local, so won't be coming back. I hope they read this and consider improving the dish. My experience definitely missed the mark for fine dining. read more

I had a business meeting in the area, so I decided to check out a new restaurant. (New to me.) I found this restaurant tucked away in the corner of a shopping center, surrounded by a few other restaurants. I tried to compare how many people were at this restaurant vs. the others. It was hard to tell.. when I walked in, it looks a bit like a pub. Small, dark, wine on every wall, and just enough space around each table that you could easily have a wheel chair or stroller roll through. There were two waiters and a bartender managing the front. My waiter was also accepting wine deliveries, so another waitress stepped in to help. I never had to wait long to have someone stop by or look over to see if I needed anything. If you've ever seen the tv show Cheers you'll get an idea of the ambiance and service. The burger was great! Al Green is playing on the speaker as I type this. We love this consistently great, locally owned and operated restaurant. The Grape Taste has really wide and varied menu, and I'll be completely honest: we have legitimately enjoyed everything we've tried. From their salads, to pasta, to chicken, to sandwiches -- these folks always nail it. On todays visit, I enjoyed the Cuban sandwich, loaded with delicious pork, toppings, a great mayo, and with a side of fries. You'll also find Lake Jackson's best iced tea here, in my humble opinion! We typically grab lunch here, and the staff is always attentive and friendly. Everyone has a great attitude -- that's something we always notice -- and it's just refreshing to eat here. Took a customer to dinner here on a Wednesday night. I never knew this place existed until now. Started with a three cheese plate which was very good. Then went with a few tapas. Sea scallops, mixed grilled veggies, and kabobs. Everything arrived fresh and hot. Everything was good. The sea scallops were excellent. They have an extensive wine list and a full bar. I definitely will be back at some point. Prices were not cheap but not overly expensive. The service was spot on. read more

We came here for my wife's birthday with her family, 8 people total. We came to The Grape Taste specifically to avoid chain restaurants, hoping to get better service. Unfortunately, we were VERY wrong. It was here that I had the worst service I have ever had in a restaurant. I didn't catch the waiter's name because he barely spoke to us, but he had long hair, about shoulder-length. Four of us arrived first, and he served us drinks. When the other four arrived only a few minutes later, he didn't come back for a long time. By the time they got their drinks, we had finished ours. Next came the long wait to actually put a food order in. We wanted to order cheese plates, but we were sitting for a while. One of us asked one of the waitstaff if we could order. The waiter went to the bar to tell our waiter, who began flailing his arms. I began watching our waiter, who was clearly busy with several other tables both inside and outside. When he serviced all his other tables, he finally took our order brusquely. Throughout the night, our waiter continued to avoid us, only stopping by occasionally. We would have to signal if we needed any drinks. At one point, he came to the table and delivered a drink while talking on his cell phone. So now the question is, do we complain to the manager? Or do we attempt to salvage the evening of my wife's birthday dinner by not raising a fuss? We chose the latter, of course, leaving with disappointment for a restaurant that's supposed to provide a unique experience in Brazoria County. read more

Food menu has lots of variety and was able to accommodate many different dietary restrictions! They gave our dog a water dish and we greatly appreciate that gesture. First time here and as soon as you enter you get the vibe of like an old fashioned restaurant it's nice! First thing I have to say is my water tasted like trash! The spaghetti was good the meatballs were burned a little and it could have also used a little more sauce it was a bit dry, but the flavor was there. The tres leches cake was too spongy to be a tres leches cake but it was flavorful, the carrot cake was the best part of my experience it was delicious! read more

I was in the area and decided here due to all the positive reviews. I ordered the asparagus pasta which was super filling. I thought it was okay. My husband ordered a steak with sides. One of them being store bought type sausage cuts with salty bbq sauce which he didn't like at all. I even joked with him that it looked like it came from beans and weenies. All in all, the food wasn't worth 60+. The ambiance was great for a date night but I wouldn't return if we were in the area again. read more

I got food to go, the Flounder a la Queso to be exact. Its a large portion of food, but makes sense for the price I guess. The queso was very thin thats why I gave it 4 stars.
