Update: I contacted the restaurant directly and spoke with the owner. He responded quickly, said he would double-check the kitchen process, alerted his team, and offered gift cards as a goodwill gesture. I appreciate the professional response. My original concern remains food safety, not compensation, and I hope the restaurant follows through seriously. Serious suspected food-safety issue after Tour of Italy takeout I'm writing this carefully because I do not want to be unfair, but I also do not want to stay quiet about a serious food-safety concern. On the evening of June 27, 2026, my wife and young daughter ate at Joe's Italian Restaurant, and my wife brought home my takeout order: the Tour of Italy. I ate it after my run, followed my normal routine -- no alcohol, rehydrated, cleaned up, ate dinner, read, and went to sleep. While lying in bed around 10 pm, I told my wife my stomach did not feel right. Around 2 am, I woke up with significant stomach distress and had to use the restroom. Around 4 am, I was violently woken up, barely made it to the restroom, and vomited profusely for several minutes. I cannot prove the exact source without an investigation, but the timing and severity after this meal are serious enough that I believe this should be treated as a suspected foodborne illness report, not just a routine complaint. What would you want a customer to do if there was even a chance that food handling, food temperature, ingredient freshness, or sanitation created a risk for families? I hope management reviews the handling of the Tour of Italy items, checks whether anyone else reported illness, and takes this seriously. I am contacting the restaurant directly as well because I would rather be factual and useful than simply angry online. But until this is addressed, I cannot recommend this restaurant to families. read more

Joe's is 5-star all the way. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The place is cute and very clean. They have a nice selection of cocktails, wine and beer. The Old Fashion was really good. The food was amazing! Everything is homemade. The spinach artichoke is a MUST! I'll be back sooner rather than later! read more

Service was fine. Food was absolutely flavorless. Start with a tiny"salad" of iceberg lettuce, one slice of tomato, one ring of purple onion and some mozzarella cheese. We all had chicken entrees and the chicken tasted boiled...no seasoning at all. The sauces were fine, a C maybe. The pizza we got the kids was undercooked thus soggy, greasy and had almost zero sauce. I recommend going to Giovanni's in Angleton. read more

Great food; Great service! Waitstaff is amazing! Accommodating to the fact I needed a padded chair. Hubby got stuffed mushrooms and seafood pasta. He enjoyed them so much. I got a florentine pizza and squeezed lemon juice on it and it took it over the top. Great wine selection. Desserts were packed to go but I tasted my limoncello marscapone cake and it was perfect. Tiny tables, great for two people, but two couples are extremely crowded. Food was pretty good, nothing special.

The service is pretty good, although I did not fully know who my server was as I was helped by a few. They got my order and promptly brought me bread. It was OK not fresh.... And I decided to try the spaghetti. It was good- on a scale of one to 10 maybe a 7.5 however Drini is still the best- this place doesn't hold a candle to it. Nice looking place though. read more

Wanted to try the new spot in the Neighborhood, glad we did. Opened just 8/10/25. The staff was friendly and professional. We were given some bread to enjoy. There were also the classic Parmesan cheese and red pepper shakers on the table, which I love. Growing up near Chicago, filled with great Italian restaurants, the shakers were always filled and ready for use. Items you miss when not there. We ordered the Calamari appetizer and my husband ordered the Shrimp Alfredo while I ordered the Tour of Italy. The portion sizes were measured but appropriate. And what I especially noticed is that each item was cooked perfectly and tasted so very fresh. You will pay just as much going out to Olive Garden but here the food is actually worth the cost and much more authentic. I'm looking forward to going back to try some new items and work my way around their menu. My cons would be they could use something on the walls to absorb some of the noise as it was quite loud inside just from all of us customers enjoying our meals. I was so excited to try this place. Looked at the menu earlier that day. Decided on veal piccata. I rarely drink alcohol so was looking forward to a Cabernet. They had no veal and ran out of Cabernet. So I ordered ribeye with piccata sauce over Alfredo noodles. Our food took entirely too long and I was brought angel hair pasta which would've been the last pasta I chose. The Italian dressing looked and tasted like ketchup. My appetizer chicken wings were overcooked. The piccata sauce was super runny like water so fell right off the noodles. The ribeye was over 50% fat and I wasn't given a steak knife so was stuck cutting my fat with a butter knife. Really couldn't used a saw. My friend's seafood pasta had 5 clams. 4 of which were not open, so inedible. I realize they just opened and I expect some kinks but this trip was not ANYWHERE worth what we paid. I highly doubt we'll return. read more

Joes Italian restaurant is now open! They took over the building where Table 24 was. I was not disappointed at all. First of all: The bruschetta was great before the meal. Salad was good along with the basket of rolls was wonderful. The lunch menu was no small serving. The only thing that's was disappointing was the strength of the tea. Food was narsty. Restaurant was not clean. Not for me. Not to much else to say...dont waste your money

Everything was really salty, almost inedible. The meat inside the lasagna tasted like it was boiled and the pasta was overcooked and gummy. The alfredo was really thin, it wouldn't stick to the pasta at all, it just pooled in the bowl. The flavor was good, but the consistency was too watery. My friend said the meatball sub was "just ok" but that the meatballs themselves were bland and the sauce was really salty. The bruschetta was not good, but the restaurant doesn't have control over bad produce(flavorless tomatoes). The bread was amazing though, so that's why it gets 3 stars. Like another review commented, we'll try them again after they've been open a while and get their feet under them. read more

To celebrate my 73rd birthday, I decided to head out for some fine Italian food. I waited about 5 minutes to be seated as there was no one at the host desk. As I was led to my table and before I could sit down, I was asked what I wanted to drink. I was handed the drink menu and told the server I wanted a Merlot and pointed to it on the menu as well as a glass of water. I finally sat down. Ten minutes later, the bartender came over and asked if I wanted anything to drink. I told her I wanted a water and I had an order in for some wine. She said the server was inputting my wine order. Five minutes later, a glass of some bubbling type of red liquid appeared at my table that was obviously not Merlot. I told the bartender that I had ordered a Merlot and she went to replace it. She came back moments later to say that they were out of Prosecco. I repeated that I wanted a glass of Merlot. I didn't think that this would be such a difficult order for an Italian restaurant. I finally got a Merlot delivered to my table with the ripped table covering. Ten minutes later, the server came back and took my order of lasagna which the menu stated was served with a house salad. Ten minutes later, the lasagna was delivered. I guess they had no salad left because it never appeared. The lasagna was ok but not exceptional. The only thing that was delivered in a timely manner was my check. I would have ordered dessert because I love tiramisu, but who knows what would have been delivered to my table. A very disappointing experience to celebrate my birthday. ps: It was not the server's fault as she was overwhelmed with too many tables to serve. read more

Terrible first time experience. Had artichoke dip and wasn't served with the toast. We asked how or what we were suppose to dip with it to eat. Steak was ordered medium rare and came out well. Chicken on tour of Italy was rubber the lasagna was cold. The Assistant Manager Emma said they had 2 big table tops so their kitchen was backed up. They were not trying to earn our business at all. The management was all giggles when they came to our table. My thoughts if you have 2 big parties you should stagger your other tables to accommodate your kitchen. Apparently we weren't the only table that had issues. We will not be returning to this restaurant because they didn't value our business tonight. Our server did everything she could in her control. It was the restaurant and management that gets a 0 for effort. They have lots of improving to do to survive in a town with many other options to chose from: I've heard that Drini's is great and I will definitely drive past Joe's Italian to try them out. Plus I've known many Joe's Italians in the gulf coast area that have been open and now closed. I understand why they can't survive with poor restaurant management. Wanted to try something different for dinner last night and was recommended Joe's by my mom. It's a newer restaurant in LJ in the downtown area. It was busy but we were still seated quickly and drinks, appetizers, and starter salads came out promptly. Bread rolls were so soft and buttery, very delicious. I got the fettuccine Alfredo with added shrimp, and my friend got the bruschetta and manicotti. Tried her bruschetta first and it melted in your mouth - I'd go back for this alone. My fettuccine hit the spot and was creamy and not too greasy/oily as can sometimes be a problem with pasta dishes like that. I do wish I got more shrimp for the price but overall I was satisfied. I'll definitely have to save room for the dessert next time - the table next to us ordered tiramisu and it looked divine. 100% will return soon - it's good for the price and a relaxed atmosphere that can either be casual or a nice date spot. read more

I went to Joe's with 2 friends for a late lunch on Wednesday.mThere was only one table of two having dessert when we arrived. No one greeted us at the hostess stand...we waited almost 10 minutes until someone came to greet us. Told us to be seated wherever we wanted & that she would be right back with menus. She did return shortly with menus & answered a couple of questions. Then gone again. Returned with menus & left us to decide what we wanted. Came back to take our orders. I ordered chicken picatta over linguine; friend 2 ordered traditional spaghetti & meatballs with red sauce; friend 3 ordered Manicotti with Alfredo sauce. Server offered salad with choice of dressings. Salads arrived quickly. They were less than appetizing; I was a plate of the white core of iceberg lettuce with a slice of Roma tomato & a ring of purple onion sprinkled with grated Mozzarella. A very bland looking plate; absolutely nothing green on the plate. Terrible, awful. The dressings were tasty. Entrees were pretty tasty. One was served luke warm; mine was a bit over salted and the chicken was dried out. All in all, I think for the prices they charge, they should offer a salad of fresh mixed greens and the entrees should be served hot. By the time we were served, there were only 2 people eating in the restaurant. This eatery is certainly not high on my list. Not to mention the most confusing receipt for a $15.00 meal that I have ever seen in my life! read more
