Nice place to sample wines or sit outside and enjoy a glass or more. It was packed inside and out on Sat. the 19th during Market Days. The young woman who waited on us was not rushed or nervous at all. She was quite sweet and made recommendations for my friend. We enjoyed our samples (3 free tastings) and also got a glass each. Imagine my disappointment upon discovering that my exclusive bottles of wine I purchased from them at $25 per bottle was available at Spec's Liquor for just $10!!!! Most unfriendly and unwelcoming experience! When we walked in the young guy working there literally just put their drink listing in front of us and said let me know what you want. It didn't get any better from there. Needless to say we left within 10 minutes. Wouldn't recommend whatsoever. read more

I am a local resident and used to patronize this business often as it usually has a good selection of wine and offers wine samples. The last few times I've been in the Grapevine service has been less than satisfactory. Most of the employees are very friendly and helpful but when the manager comes out of her back office, it's a whole different story. Very rude and makes you feel like you are bothering her. She does not have a friendly personality at all! I gave the grapevine one star for the nice employees that are helpful and the hopes that this business will return to it's wonderful hospitality it used to offer! read more

What a fun place! On the outside it has the look of an old school ice house with outdoor seating. Inside on our visit it was bustling with happy wine lovers. We waited for our turn at the bar and the ladies happily explained the process to us. We choose four wines to taste from their menu and each wine over four were $1 a sample. The fruit infused wines were my favorite, but we each tried 5 different wines and we sampled each other's to compare notes. So essentially we sampled 10 wines each, my five and her five. We settled on a favorite and bought a bottle. We could keep our glasses for an additional $2. The crowd is fun and lively. The ladies behind the bar are friendly and not at all pushy. They were informative and warm. Sampling 5 wines each and buying a bottle to take home was under $30! It was a fun afternoon outing and we got a nice wine to bring home for another evening. This a great date experience or a nice way to catch up with an old (new) friend who loves wine and not break the bank. We'll definitely be doing this again. It's always a great Texas day to sit on the porch or under the shade of an old tree listening to the cicadas. I'm a fan of the Malbec. My husband enjoys white wine. When we have a day off we come up here and have a glass or two and unwind. They offer a couple free samples and the pricing per glass is pretty affordable. Charming wine tasting shop....we tried the wine-a-rita which was amazing. We left after a tasting of the Fiesta Wine Skinny Dippin and Llano Moscato. Both were delightful, flavorful and crisp for the hot texas evenings. They had a cute porch with tables and a big sitting area for enjoying your wine. well. let me start of by saying that i have never written a review before, but after multiple experiences at the grapevine, feel compelled to do so in this case, in the hopes that they change their attitude and ways of practice. I have been here multiple times with multiple friends and ALL 3 times have had horrible experiences! We all live in austin and have decided that whenever we go to gruene, which is somewhat frequent, we will spend our time exclusively at the other winery (see below). I will give them credit where credit is due. As the other reviews state, they: 1) do have a good selection of texas hill country wines, and 2) it is a quaint place w/ nice decor and a lot of cool knick knacks for browsing or purchase (although seems to be more of a tourist trap in my opinion). However, that being said, I just cant get past their attitude and heir of superiority. In fact, so much so, that we have all decided that none of us will ever go back again and support their business. There is another winery just a few steps away, and provides an experience that is far superior in every aspect possible-better wines, better tastings, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a sense that you want to be there and partake in the whole experience with them and as their guest, rather than you cant wait to leave and that you were treated horribly. I feel so strongly about this that i recommend people go to "wine on the gruene" instead, and spend your time there with people who a nice, friendly, actually knowledgeable about their wine, and engauging, allowing for a truly enjoyable experience. plus, unlike at grapevine, it is wine you cannot buy anywhere else (and more then 5 are gold medal winners btw). and to keep it simple, here is just a few of the reasons why i dislike the grapevine: 1) you cannot taste most of their wines, especially some of the more intriguing, unique ones. it just simply isnt offered and you have to taste what they want you to-and doesnt really change that much from season to season. 2) your tastings are limited and samples are on the skimpy side. 3) the staff is just plain rude, are inflexible, and treat you like just another number and not a person. For ex: on different occasions, they would not let us bring in an unopened bottle from another store that we had bought prior, and would not let us bring in a coffee that we were drinking while walking around town (and werent even drinking it btw). the girl behind the bar said we must leave it outside or finish it before coming in. Also, everytime we entered, we felt as if they could care less if we were there or not, or if we bought something or not. And i'm sorry, but that i not the feeling you want to have as a customer.
