Ralph's is the kind of place that feels like home--even if it's your first time there. Just outside the Bottleworks district, this little dive keeps things simple in the best way: comfort food, a full bar, and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to strike up a conversation with a stranger or catch up with old friends. Oh, and I have to mention the pea salad--yummy! The back patio is a great spot to hang out, and there's often live music, adding just the right touch. The service is always friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better.

I was very surprised by how great my experience at Ralph's Great Divide was. I was invited by a friend who is becoming a regular here and I had high hopes coming in. The service, especially from Jennifer, was great and she kept up with all of our needs throughout dinner. I ordered the hot pot pig potato soup and it was the best potato soup I have ever had. I also got a toasted turkey sandwich which was so fresh and the fries were hot and crispy, a must try. Plus there was a rotating display of desserts and that chocolate cake was rich and smooth and delicious. I have to come back here!

This was a fun place to try. Thanks to the contributors on Reddit for directing me here. I absolutely had to try the pig Aug (which I finally learned was au gratin) and it was good. It was a little on the salty side but the baked cheese and ham on top were excellent. I enjoyed it. The loaded nachos were fair, but it was with chili with beans instead of a Mexican meat which is not normally how we have nachos in the southwest. Still, the whole wheat chips were yummy. The cake was perfect. Light and tasty, letting the toffee be sweet instead of overdoing the sugar. The staff were super friendly. The restaurant has fun old decorations and some card games to play. The others with me had sandwiches and burgers which were fairly standard. Definitely try the soup.

This is definitely a dive bar in the shadow of downtown Indy. They have a decent patio when the weather is better. We thought we could give it a try as we were downtown. I ordered the lunch special, half sandwich and side and ordered a cup of soup to go with it. The soup was called Hot Pot Pig, it was a creamy potato soup with bacon, pepper jack, and cheddar. I ordered German Potato Salad and a Chicken Salad Sandwich on whole wheat toast. Chicken salad was really good and the bread was nicely toasted. The German potato salad may have been the tangiest German potato salad I have had, maybe a touch too much vinegar. The pig soup was fine and cheesy but I probably would not order again just because I am not too big on cheese soups. I asked for a boozy but slightly sweet drink and they came up with something for me, a Captain Morgan and pineapple base, it was good. Our waitress was super friendly and lunch was reasonable at 23.83 prior to the tip. Good little spot to stop at for a quick bite when you are downtown Indy. Plenty of parking next to and behind the building.

I haven't been here since it was called Ralph's Great Divide (it's just The Great Divide Now). You come here for the hot pot aug (potato soup) or hot pot pig (potato soup with ham). That's all you need to know.

First time visit and I was amazed. I chose the breaded tenderloin and it was fantastic (more than I could finish). The cook came out to check on me which was nice. I paired it with a new item they just recently started selling, Carbliss Vodka drink Black Cherry. It has a lot of flavor to it. Small cozy place with friendly staff. They have outdoor patio when the weather gets warmer. I'll definitely be back soon

Great Surprise!! I've driven past this little dive so many times but we couldn't find parking at another location and saw how busy it was and decided to give it a try! It was wonderful!! The place was full of happy people, a piano player filled the space. The waitress was friendly and service was fast! Best potato soup I've ever had! Everything was very affordable and we can't wait to go back!

What a hidden gem this place is! Happened to meet a couple guys at at Sun King and they recommended this spot. It's literally right around the corner. When we walked in we were greeted right away! And bonus- they had a band playing. They were really good too. They had the lights stringing all around and the beautiful trees were shading the patio it was just so nice. I never made it inside so can't speak to that. They have a menu that primarily consists of sandwiches, salads, finger foods. I ordered a turkey sandwich (cold cut) which was really good. It came with a side of your choice and I picked side salad. They don't have French fries btw. The service was great, the people were extremely friendly and I really had a great time. Totally in my rotation now.

Favorite dive bar in downtown by far. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. There is a super fun and cozy outdoor space with space heaters. The food is always amazing, even for vegetarians, like me! No bad vibes here, that is for sure. Only bummer is that they closed on Sundays. Would love to be able to watch Sunday football here because this place is it!!

Once you step inside, it's much bigger than it looks, and the patio is reason enough to visit all by itself. The outdoor space is one of my favorite parts--string lights overhead, plenty of seating, and just an all-around laid-back atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a drink on a nice day. The drink prices were surprisingly reasonable too, which never hurts. Brooke and Daniel took great care of me and made the experience even better. Friendly service always stands out, and they definitely delivered. I ended up ordering the pulled pork pizza to take home, and that turned out to be a fantastic decision. The smoky pulled pork, tangy barbecue sauce, and generous layer of cheese all worked together perfectly. It was one of those pizzas where you keep reaching for "just one more slice." Bonus points for something a lot of places overlook: the bathrooms were spotless. Clean enough that you actually notice--and yes, they even smelled clean. Whether you're looking for a casual neighborhood bar, a great patio to relax on, or surprisingly good food, Dugout Bar checks all the boxes. I'll definitely be back.

I'm not sure I could call Melody Inn my favorite concert venue in Indy, but it is a place I…read moreabsolutely love and it caters to types of music I don't always hear elsewhere. Melody Inn is at 38th & Illinois in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood and pretty much across the street from Tarkington Park. I lived at the high-rise at 38th & Meridian for a while and still frequent this area. The "Mel" was established in 1935. It's a historic venue that definitely gives off a dive bar/retro vibe. For live music, there's typically a cover charge around $5 (check the calendar to be sure). Parking in the area is free (street/lot across the street). You can still sit at the original oak bar, hang out in the PBR lounge, visit the Smoker's Garden, and even sit in a vinyl booth from Indy's gone but never forgotten Teepee Restaurant. Melody Inn has an incredible jukebox (obviously not during live music). Every Saturday night is Punk Rock Night (my favorite). The Mel has beer on tap (pretty limited), in cans, and in bottles. They also carry ciders. They have a limited food menu (pizza, chicken strips, corn dogs, and a handful of snack-type foods). This isn't gourmet food - it's dive bar "I got the munchies" food. Local brews include selections from Triton, Sun King, and Three Floyds. While I think Melody Inn is mostly known for its Punk Rock Night, you can also catch hillbilly, rockabilly, rock, comedy, metal, indie, pop, and other types of music here. I've always associated the venue with punk, however, there's something to please everyone here. They have a newsletter you can sign up for on their website. Melody Inn will book local acts. All acts have to be over age 21. They have high expectations for acts promoting their appearances (along with the entire bill). They don't book cover bands, however, they do have tribute nights. While the area here used to be somewhat rough, Butler-Tarkington has improved quite a bit. The park has been updated, Tea's Me is right across the street, and I've just never had much in the way of concerns here. In terms of accessibility, things are pretty decent here for a general admission place. Audiences tend to be pretty considerate (even the punk rock folks!). and the staff here is top-notch. This is just a great place to see local bands and to experience of of Indy's oldest bars/music venues.
