Union 50 is a Cunningham Group restaurant. They're located right off East St. It's a nice area not too far from Mass Ave. If you see the patio go around it as the entrance is down the brick lined street in the middle. It's big inside, has a huge and amazing selection of drinks you can see from the bar, open kitchen window, and a nice outside patio. The hostess was nice and we were seated outside. Seems like they prefer reservations, but we were seated immediately. The waitress was helpful as we had never been there before. The petit board which came with crostinis, grain mustard, cornichons. We picked smoked Gouda, potato bacon terrine - basically potatoes wrapped in bacon, and whipped ricotta with honey. Probably wouldn't order this again because the serving sizes were so small. I've had a lot of charcuterie boards and this one was by far the smallest serving size. Never again would I order that. The sticky wings were my favorite! They were sesame-soy glazed chicken wings. So good!! I like how they brought out warm cloths to use because they were messy, but delicious. We for some reason weren't given a dessert menu. I don't know if they didn't have one. We ordered the carrot cake which was good. I wish I knew what all was in though. The cream cheese icing was my favorite. Not heavy and thick. Nice and light! Nice place downtown and would order the sticky wings and the crab cakes next time. I wish the menu would write how many you get though.
I hadn't been here in forever! I always loved the ambiance here and the food, of course. We started with the pork belly, crab cake, fried calamari and rosemary duck fat fries with truffle aioli - 10/10 across the board! For my main I ordered chicken fettuccini. It came with chopped asparagus, tomatoes, and red pepper flakes. It reminded me more of a cajun pasta than fettuccini. Definitely not the typical creamy pasta I was expecting. The dish was still good, and I would order it again (minus the asparagus). Also, our server mentioned since 2020, they haven't utilized their stage in the dining room, which I thought was interesting! Would be awesome if they brought back live music.

First time dining at Union 50, and me and my party were impressed by the diversity of flavors on our plates. I went for dinner thinking of it to be a traditional American restaurant just based on menu, but the flavors in each dish we ordered were spectacular. We got the fried calamari, pork belly and cauliflower steak for appetizers. For main course, we got blackened chicken pasta (that my toddler was able to eat), salmon and swordfish, and were happy with what you got. Reservations can be made on OpenTable. Shoutout to Michael S. (Mike) for an exceptional service.
Came to this popular place in downtown for a business dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. Glad we had reservations and we were sat properly. Our waiter was the ultimate professional. We tried one of their fries and the Mexican poutine for appys. Both were very unique and yummy. Didn't realize they were also half off. I had their pork chop for main course. Very nicely presented, nicely cooked and very yummy. Couple of the guys got the chicken cacciatore which looked delicious in a nice tomatoe sauce with olives and veggies. One got the kimchi meatloaf that was unique and the other their duck. Everybody finished their meal and enjoyed it. We skipped dessert as we were all full. Busy restaurant and very lively.
What a great night my wife and I had here during devour Indy. We popped in on a Thursday night. Despite it being devour, the place wasn't super packed. It wasn't loud at all in the restaurant. The place was elegant and well decorated on the inside. We were sat and greeted quickly. Our waiter was on it throughout the night. I had a wedge salad, subbing the blue cheese dressing for balsamic. I was appreciate of the restaurant accommodating my request. For my entree, I had the short rib. Oh my- I don't know how it's not a regular on the menu. It was flavorful and fall apart. For my dessert I had the chocolate terrine cake. Again, knocked it out of the park in taste. My cocktail was strong, and unique (unfortunately I can't remember the name of the drink). Overall, I am eager to return to try some of the other items on the menu not listed on the devour menu.
It has been YEARS since I've been to Union 50, but they once again popped up on the Devour options so it rolled into rotation. I find you often go to a Devour restaurant but end up ordering off the regular menu. To start, I had the cocktail - the day the music died and it was divine! I ended up having two. Presentation and taste matched which doesn't always happen! I had the beef tenderloin and I left no crumbs. My partner had the lamb shank and added french fries as an appetizer. We both left very satisfied with our meals and an intent to come back. Our server had plenty of recommendations for us and we weren't disappointed. Now, the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is something I've not really ever experienced and especially in the area Union 50 resides. My partner is a person of color and we were uncomfortably stared at by patrons from the minute I walked in (partner was already at the table) until the time we left. This was not the fault of the restaurant, but it still encompassed the experience of the night. We didn't let this impact our stay; as we spent quite some time at the restaurant between our food, my drinks and overall conversation.

The welcoming atmosphere was lovely. We missed happy hour by just a bit, but it turns out I didn't feel slighted. Our service was excellent and the food was not only delicious, but such a gorgeous presentation! We shared their fries with two dips, the Caesar salad (with real anchovies!) and the bacon jam dates.... ...and, because it was our anniversary, the carrot cake. And now I'm addicted. It was like a carrot cake whoopie pie! Genius and delicious! I've never had a carrot cake quite like it.

We went for devour and 10/10. Everyone knows I love a Cunningham restaurant and frankly I don't know why I have never been to union 50. Don't let the outside of the building fool you it is so spacious on the inside. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so pleasant and a joy. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. I did not get a cocktail but my friend got a class of wine he recommended and she loved it. I need them to create some sort of three course menu so I can try more food lol.
Union 50 is the best Cunningham restaurant in the city - the menu is full of unique twists on classic dishes, anyone can find something they love. Perfect for a date night or place to bring clients for a local humble brag. Restaurant has been here over a decade, the patio and bar are expansive and beautiful. The waiters know every dish like they cooked it themselves, but the real highlight is the quality of the dishes - they have amazing appetizers especially poutine and charcuterie boards! They always add interesting ingredients to classic dishes to spice things up: the duck is melt-in-your-mouth, the veggies salted with great flavor, and I just honestly haven't had a bad dish here in years. My absolute favorite place to bring colleagues or for sales dinners - everyone from out of town deserves to try out one of Indy's finest at Union 50!
I love Cunningham restaurants & had not tried this one yet! A nice venue tucked just off of Mass Ave. Chic interior with high ceilings and a beautiful bar. Service was quick and efficient. What *really* drew me here was the fact that they had octopus on the menu, which is my favorite. And it did not disappoint! I also loved their version of the Caesar salad & the chocolate cake was quite delicious. Ended the evening with some port which was a nice touch. Overall, a nice modern American restaurant-- would be a great spot to take family, colleagues, host an event, etc.
It was easy to make a reservation. They have their own parking lot. Its somewhat dark inside which was a vibe. The bathroom was clean. They offer vegetarian options and I had a tasty mocktail. I celebrated my birthday and received a birthday card. I honestly felt special. My cauliflower steak was surprisingly good and very flavorful. I hope it's good reheated. I wanted fries and asked if they grease was vegan safe. The waiter checked and confirmed cross contamination because it's cooked in the same grease as the chicken. I appreciated the honesty because I could've easily gotten sick.
ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITES FOR AMERICAN FOOD NEAR MASS AVE Union 50 came in clutch when my friends and I were looking for a last minute dinner reservation. Called at 6 and got a reservation for 8, for 5 of us on a Saturday night. This is kind of an anomaly for any restaurants off Mass Ave. We were seated right away and started with drinks and apps. We got "Disco Boys" and "I'm too pretty for this" cocktails which were tasty - kudos for the fun cocktail names. Calamari, Artisan, and Charcuterie came shortly after. There's a few different options of cheeses and meats, it's sort of a choose your own adventure situation. All were good, especially the calamari. A lot of restaurants tend to overcook it and the calamari gets rubbery, not the case here. Our entrees came out next and I made sure to try a bite of everyone's LOL. The standout of all the entrees was definitely the "Duck, duck" which was, obviously, duck. The runner up would definitely have to be the chicken cacciatore. Overall, really great ambiance, food, and service. I would highly recommend Union 50 if you're looking for something fancy, but not too fancy. My husband and I were in Indy for the night and decided to check out Union 50 because of its great reviews! We were not disappointed. The atmosphere when you walk is relaxed and friendly. There is a diverse variety of people with great space for big groups or hanging at the bar. The staff was friendly, helpful with the menu and suggesting staff favorite as well as customer favorite options. The food is wonderful. We shared the petit charcuterie, lamb meatballs, kimchi meatloaf, and the duck duck. Everything was amazing, I don't think you can go wrong with what you choose. We finished off with the house made chocolates, which was just the right amount of sweetness to end a wonderful meal. Highly recommend! read more

First time having dinner at Union 50 and I must say it was pretty delicious everything from the drinks to the food. We had a little of everything truffle and duck fires with the espresso chipotle bbq and white queso, the Dates!! My favorite part of dinner along side the shrimp fettuccine and Duck Duck. The place itself is pretty and clean. Our waiter was very friendly and polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Overall service was great. Would recommend enjoying a nice dinner with friends or even date night. read more

First time visiting here with my partner while exploring the charming town. The ambience is vibrant and inviting, creating a relaxed atmosphere. Service was exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed. The food was outstanding--richly flavorful and expertly prepared--and the drinks were also enjoyable, with a good selection. They offer mocktails, which was a fantastic option for someone not drinking alcohol, with creative and refreshing flavors. The sticky chicken wings had a perfect balance of sweet and spicy, with a satisfying kick from the chili. The lamb meatballs looked mouthwatering, tender, and juicy; the sauce was a unique blend of herbs and spices that we had never tasted before. Steak was very good! Although perhaps slightly overcooked (because I was cautious and said "medium-well" instead of medium) to avoid previous issues of being a little under cooked. All that to say, these cooks know how to cook a great steak so get what you want! Muscles, sticky wings & fries for appetizers were a hit! read more

What a beautiful building! I was so surprised when walking in! Love the seating arrangements and how open it is. We had 3 large tables and service was so fast and smooth! All of our drinks and food arrived quickly. I had one of the mocktails that was fruity and tasty! We had a variety of dishes: mussels, wings, fries, duck, salmon, steak. The food was food as were the signature drinks. We called ahead because there were 7 of us and the had the table ready when we got there 30 minutes later. The server told us about the food and drink menus and we ordered charcuterie and the crab cake appetizers. The bread, olive oil, crab cake and charcuterie pleased everyone. I had the salmon over sticky rice. Two others chose the short rib special over mashed sweet potatoes! If I ate beef I would have liked that and both of them ate it all! Prices are as expected $20-50 per plate. The restaurant had a large bar taking up the back wall with ample seating throughout! The kitchen chefs were partially visible as well as the food expediter. Yes. Yes! and YES! I have visited Union 50 a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet! Everything that I've tried from the menu has been delicious, but this visit was my favorite. First off, the decor is beautiful and elegant. I love sitting inside when I visit at night, but we went earlier this time so we sat outside. Our server was really attentive and gave us recommendations on their favorite items which helped us make our decisions. We went with the sticky chicken wings, duck fat rosemary fries and a Caesar salad which they split for us before it was brought to our table. Everything was a 10/10! The wings had the perfect amount of heat and crunch. The fries are always sooo good with the different sauces and the salad was extremely fresh! If you've been looking for a sign to visit, this is it! read more

My friends and I had a great night at Union 50! I had never been before and we went with a large group for a bachelorette party. The team that helped my group was attentive, patient, and willing to accommodate when needed. We had a great time and I was extremely impressed with both the food and drinks. My chicken was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor! I will definitely be back for a date-night in the near future. read more

We hosted one of my best friends birthday dinner here. This was my first time at union 50 and I was very impressed. The service was beyond amazing. Our server was very attentive and made our night so fun. I got the swordfish dish and OH MY GOODNESS, I will be dreaming about this dish. The ceviche rice paired so amazing with the swordfish and the sauce was impeccable. I told my fiance we have to come back here for a date night. I got the cocktail blind leading the blind and it was so good. I got two and all the other girls got it also. I told the server we were celebrating our friend birthday and she brought out desert for us. The girls got into it before I could take a picture but we got the carrot cake because a table next to us recommended it and it was amazing! Def 12/10 experience and food! read more
I think this is the best restaurant I've eaten in Indy yet. My husband visited a few weeks ago with friends and has been raving about it since, so we took my mother in law for her birthday. Every single thing we ate was delectable. I'd highly recommend the salmon and the poutine - the poutine was so delicious that we ordered bread to lap up the extra gravy once the fries were gone! The food is unique, and I truly don't think there is a bad thing on the menu. The staff was very kind and accommodating, and the atmosphere was dark, moody, and trendy. It's a tad pricey, so I'd recommend coming for a special event or date night. Worth every penny! read more

Came to Union 50 for a work dinner with my manager, colleague and 2 others. They chose the restaurant and it was a great choice. We were all concerned about parking even though Google maps showed a parking lot across the alley from the restaurant. Luckily we found on street parking when we arrived. The ambiance in the restaurant is relaxed and they even have a stage for the band. While we waited for the rest of our party to arrive, we ordered drinks. I got the moonbeam cocktail and my colleague got the sage of enlightenment which was a different type of old fashioned. Once the rest of our part arrived, we went to our table where we ordered appetizers. We git the dates, fries and mushrooms. The mushrooms came with a bacon wrapped potato on top which added some flavor when eaten with the mushrooms. The dates were sweet but also salty due to the bacon which balanced out the flavors. I ended up ordering the lamb shank, my manager and colleague got the sword fish, one rep got the kimchi meatloaf and the other got the the sirloin. The food was great and well seasoned and delicious. The person who git the meatloaf felt it needed more kimchi as there was hardly any on the plate. My colleague said his swordfish was delicious but had an unexpected kick to it but my manager had the same thing and didn't have the same experience. The lamb shank is a decent portion and very filling. I would dine here again though it is a bit pricey. None of our meals was under $30 and once you add in drinks and appetizers, it adds up quickly. read more

one of our favorite places to eat and drink! Went to check out the mocktail selection... while they only technically have one option on the menu, it was very good and i felt like i was drinking a cocktail. I asked the waiter if they could make a different one off menu and they delivered... it was also very good and complex with lots of flavor. everything you are looking for in a mocktail and service!! Bartenders here truly know what they are doing. great casual atmosphere with delicious food. The charcuterie board and fries never disappoint! Hoping in the future they will have a true mocktail menu with more options. read more
My sister and I had a sister date and decided to come enjoy Union 50 after it had been a couple of years since the both of us had been. It is truly a beautiful space. I love the open space concept and the bar! Our server was very informative, quick, and such a great spirit. We both ordered a beverage, shared a Caesar salad, my sister got the wings and fries, and I got the lamb shank. Everything was amazing. The sauce on the wings was delicious and the meat was so tender it fell right off the lamb shank. I did not have a drop of food left. We were excited to know they have a children's menu as we love going out as a family with our parents and spouses. We cannot wait to bring everyone back to enjoy and experience what we did. read more

I came here with a group of 8 during Devour Indy (restaurant week). I ordered off the devour menu and had: - sticky meatballs (see picture). - Wood-fired cod - Spiced Apple Cake Mine was top notch perfect! The sticky meatballs were probably my favorite because they were unique. But it was all delicious. My friends all ordered differently, some from devour and others off the main menu. Everyone left saying they loved what they ordered. Great food, atmosphere and service. We took a Lyft to get here. I don't know about parking, but it didn't look to be a problem. And it's close enough to Mass Ave, that you can walk around before or after the meal for some extra fun. My wife and I are going back for our anniversary dinner in a few weeks from now. read more
Oh wow, I thought I had done an update, but apparently my last review of Union 50 was 8 years ago?! I have had so many excellent dinners here over the years. It's a favorite spot to take people from out of town, and if I'm here with a big group the Grand Board is the perfect way to start a meal. It's chef's choice of cheese and charcuterie with all kinds of accompaniments and it's always wonderful. It's good for about 5 people as a starter. Since we just had 3 people at our most recent visit, we did a smaller board with 2 cheeses and 2 charcuterie choices. Everything is always great so deciding is the hardest part. They have amazing cocktails and that's always a hard choice too. I've never had something I didn't like here. They are very creative and don't tend to do anything overly sweet which I appreciate. At this visit I had the Duck Duck which was perfectly cooked duck breast with a nice crisp skin over a hash of duck confit and roasted vegetables. It was so good! Everything I've had here has been flavorful and perfectly cooked and this was no exception. Their fish entrees, shrimp and grits, and lamb entrees have always been excellent. For dessert I had the tres leches cake which was on the house since it was my birthday! Really nice of them. They attached a birthday candle to the plate too which was a nice touch too. The cake was moist and delicious. All the desserts here are great so you can't go wrong. Service is always excellent and they pace the courses nicely. The servers also always know the menu well and do a great job answering questions and helping with recommendations. The atmosphere is nice, but still casual, and unless it is packed, it's not too loud. I can always find street parking within a block or so, but they do offer valet parking if the weather is bad or you don't feel like looking for a spot. read more

The food was beyond amazing for the vegetarian meals we got here. The sea salt and truffle fries were a great portion with plenty of flavor in the sauces we chose: truffle garlic aoli and espresso BBQ. We got the gnocchi and cauliflower steak, both with such creative and enjoyable flavors and textures. We also got the tres leches for dessert, which had so many different fruity flavors and a very nice (i think paprika) whipped cream. I would love to come here again, especially if they created more vegetarian options! read more

I am not sure. However, I did not see any children there when I ate it was 7:30pm Friday evening.

Most usually park on the street (metered parking). I don't believe there is a designated lot.
