There are so many different rooms and exhibits on two levels, make sure you give yourself at least one and a half hours (at minimum), in order to make the most out of your visit. I really enjoyed the Living the California Dream gallery detailing suburban life and middle-class living, in an object theatre with a repeating 6-minute show when the room darkens then highlights the items on display, including instruments, household appliances, and more. Ships of the World showcased a plethora of model ships in great detail, created by Charles Parsons, a resident of nearby San Carlos. So many scale models, and a section about shipwrecks, including a video discussing the many shipwrecks along the San Mateo coast, how pigeon point was named after a shipwreck, and details about the rydall hall wreck at point montara while transporting coal to SF from Wales... almost 100 shipwrecks from the 1850s to 1950s! The Extraordinary Cow Palace, in the changing exhibit gallery, was so interesting to explore, seeing the history of events and traditions known and loved today, such as the Great Dickens Christmas Fair and the rodeos. In addition, there was plenty of memorabilia dedicated to arts and entertainment, the music industry, and sports. The Innovators gallery showcased inventions of items like the first video tape recorder, and various accomplishments in technology, arts and entertainment, business, and agriculture. This includes the amazing contributions of Nolan Bushnell, his desired carnival-themed restaurant, the first Pizza Time Theatre in San Jose in 1977 (now known as Chuck E. Cheese), as well as Atari and its pong game (also in the 70's). Other exhibits to view and learn about include the Ohlone tule house, inhabitants' utilization of natural resources, the Spanish's impact on life through agriculture, tools and trade, whaling after the gold rush (blubber used for household items like lights, soap, and cosmetics), development of transportation, the real courthouse, displays about law enforcement and biographies of fallen officers, immigration in San Mateo county, and Maverick's, a surfer's dream for big waves near Half Moon Bay (there's even an interactive surfboard where you can ride the waves). The magnificent architecture of the great dome on the second level, is also something to appreciate here, the largest stained glass dome on the west coast, with captivating detail. Even the courthouse square outside the museum entrance is a beautiful area, with lovely fountains out front. The volunteers/staff are helpful and eager to share details about all of the fascinating exhibits. There are guided tours available, but I preferred to explore at my own pace. And taking advantage of first fridays' free admission totally made it worth the trip out.

Set up: they sent me a diagram of the place I indicated where I wanted the tables and when I arrived the day of the event it was done as I requested, they were very kind and advised more tables and chairs in the closet and I can use as needed. The staff: super friendly and helpful I had a great time we couldn't ask for more! The pictures are amazing no need for a lot of decorating since the garden is beautiful. A neighbor told me about Salt and Brine to work today and it was so cute…read more I met the GM, Jonathan and he said they serve as an amenity to the biotech employees but the public is free to come work/eat/drink/have get-togethers at the restaurant. They also sell co-working and gym memberships. Lots of quiet areas inside and out to work and such a beautiful space. Their hours are 8am-6pm M-F with 3-5PM happy hours (I think right now there is only food at their happy hours Tue-Thu). They also have events throughout the month (see pics for July events). They were super nice and the mocktail I had was really yummy. Lots of parking in their garage!

Generation Buddies is a relatively new monthly activity which I also recommend. I've also attended table tennis and a few bus trips. All the staff are wonderful - personable, friendly, receptive, and caring. Caitlyn, Matt, George, Daniel, Janet, Chef Brenda, Cheryl, and a few others I don't know. The receptionist volunteers Carol and Anne are great too! Parking is free either on the street or in the underground garage underneath the library, accessible from either Chestnut St. or Cherry St. Check it out!

My SIL couldn't drink it all so she wanted to share it with me. I was able to get a small water cup with ice so I could have some. That's all I needed because it was too sweet for me. Chilled Dasani waters are $5.50 for a small bottle & $6.50 for a large. There's even a Food Mobile Ordering system and pickup area which makes it very convenient. We were able to get to our seats afterwards during the previews which lasted 27 minutes. Leather cushioned reclining seats were really comfortable & reclined far. It even has a heated seat button with a hot setting & warm setting!! These are the best!! It warmed my lower back & was really soothing! I had to turn it off a couple of times as it was getting too warm for me. I brought my sweatshirt hoodie but never had to use it. Usually theaters crank up the AC but they didn't hear even though it was 89° outside. I think the guy next to me fell asleep cos on one of the scenes he sat up & shook himself as he woke up, LOL! The seats are THAT comfy. After the movie we used the restrooms which are plentiful. We were looking for the Parking Ticket validation machine so we asked the ticket attendant down the escalators. He said it was in a grey box by the top of the escalators. First 4 hours are validated so I inserted my ticket in the machine. Instructions aren't very clear, just says something about stamping twice? I inserted my parking ticket & heard a printing noise & left. When we exited the Parking Garage I inserted my ticket & had to pay $5 even though we were under the 4-hours free weekend limit?? Just ask someone how to use that validation ticket machine at the theater before you leave since instructions aren't clear.

Not sure if all theaters have it but out seats were pretty comfy. They recline and leg rest kicks up at the same time. I kinda wish we they didn't recline at the same time, but nonetheless still comfy. The walls separating rows are really nice because the walkway to get to your seats are really roomy. You also don't see the phone of the person in front of you which is nice. 10/10 would watch a movie here again.

This is a big 12 theater cineplex in the heart of San Mateo. At the concessions stand, they even pop their popcorn fresh the old fashioned way. The prices are not old-fashioned though with promotional popcorn buckets going for $50. Inside each theater though is comfortable and technologically advanced with powered recliner seats, digital projection screens and Dolby sound. Getting tickets online through the app was easy for Project Hail Mary. Most of the other theaters were showing the new animated Super Mario Galaxy movie with plenty of kids running around. We had arrived early, so I poked my head into the adjoining theater that was showing classic movies and they were screening Ben-Hur from 1959. It was a throwback in time and seeing Charlton Heston bigger than life gave me a thrill from when we would see movies from when I was a kid.

What a fabulous venue nothing like this in the bay area! I hosted a party for my husband's birthday, people came from all over the bay area and California including people from the east coast. As people entered they are blown away by the classic cars and all the memorabilia. Most of us were native San Franciscans it brought back memories from the Great Highway. Rozalyn, the event coordinator is fantastic to work with she even returned my calls while away on vacation. I would highly recommend this venue my event was a total success and will be talked about for years to come! Again, thank you Rozalyn and your staff for an excellent job. You can save by buying online via their website for as cheap as $10 on Wednesdays. Price varies on the day of the week. Weekends are $18.00 via online. There's a ball vending machine which allows you to select which of 6 color balls to play. For us two of the colors was not available. so we weren't able to get 5 different colors for each player. If two people uses the same color ball, that means you need to pay attention where the ball lands to avoid mix-up. Plenty of parking. There are 2 courses to pick from. To maximize your score, check out each hole before you play to review where the hole is and what obstacle you need to avoid. The starting point usually has 3 or 4 holes on a black rubber mat for you to set your ball. A few of the holes had worn out starting point holes. It can get busy on a weekend which means having to wait for the group ahead of you before proceeding.. Our family had fun.

The entire facility holds up to 200 people and contains a full kitchen, courtyard, billiards tables, ping pong table, air hockey table and more. The cost for Foster City residents is $156 per hour and non-residents is $208 per hour. You can rent part of the center for a lower cost as well. We had food catered in and was able to keep most of the trays warm in the oven while we served some of them. We scheduled a walkthrough a few days before the party and provided details on how we wanted the tables to be set-up. Parking is plenty as this center is where Leo J Ryan Park is. This venue is going to be one of the top on our list of venues for future party/gathering needs.

This review is for the Post 105 BAR. While this is a late evening crowd of mostly veterans and…read morespouses, this bar is in fact open to the public. It almost is like Walt Kowalski's VFW/American Legion Bar scene right out of the Movie Gran Torino. If you come in around 7 or 8, you will mostly have the place to yourself, it starts getting crowded after 10PM. While it is open to the public, if you or your family members have not been in the US Armed Forces, you will probably feel out of place, despite it being a welcoming atmosphere, and the clientele is very friendly, and welcoming, as is the bar staff, with very reasonable drink prices. If you are trying to learn Karaoke, this would be a decent place to learn. Short lines, and most of the people singing will not be quitting their day jobs any time soon, so if you are a little shy this might be a good place to try it out. This American Legion Post has lots of activities for vets, etc., for applicable holidays, and has bingo 2-3 nights a week.

Cute and tucked away from the outside, when you walk in the space looks clean and inviting. The main room has a stage with a working projector, huge attached kitchen, and simple beautiful art hung from the walls. They also have speakers to stream music but we opted for a live DJ. We hired a taco vendor who I highly recommend, and also brought food in from other local eateries. Emily and Lisa were very accommodating and pretty much left us to use the space as we desired. They are also quick to respond. Their team helped set up the tables and chairs as our requested layout. The only downside is that it can get pretty warm inside with fans so we kept all windows and doors open to welcome Burlingame's natural breeze for additional airflow. Guests had a great time and were enjoying the venue. Clean up was also easy just leave it the way we found it!

It has floor-to-ceiling glass windows/walls that provide great views of the bay and blue sky above. Our guest list was pretty small, so we had tons of extra room, but the set-up staff made it work really well, filling the space with extra bar tables and couches with coffee tables to provide a variety of areas for mingling and lounging. Between the patio, the main dining area, the dance floor, and the bar/lounge areas, our guests had tons of space and options, and they used it all. We had our ceremony here, too. The fountain provided a very nice backdrop, and the balcony allowed our photographer to get some neat shots of the ceremony and all our guests from above. We were lucky to have pretty much perfect weather on our big day, and our guests couldn't stop talking about the view. They loved taking pictures on the patio with the bay and blue sky behind them. Both prior to and on the big day, Allison was great to work with. She was easily accessible via email, quickly answered any and all questions, and was very friendly and accommodating. On the day itself, the setup and catering/bar staff members were great, too. They were efficient, friendly, and helpful. We were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food, both at the tasting and on the wedding day. Many of our guests shared how much they enjoyed the meal - especially the ice cream sundae bar! On the booze front, we provided the alcohol and mixers for the bar, which likely saved a lot of money; the corkage fees were very reasonable and the bar staff were friendly and kept the drinks flowing. Overall, CSM and Pacific Dining were a great choice for us. Having our wedding at a college felt a little unorthodox at first, but it suited us so well. The space was excellent, the rates were very reasonable, the food was great, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a fabulous day, and if we had to do it over again, we wouldn't change a thing.
