Hosted a holiday party here and everything was divine. From the initial inquiry, we were taken care of every step of the way. The Great Highway is a unique venue in San Carlos that features classic cars and an old-timey sock-hop-era vibe. We are obsessed. From the venue floor, to the pinball games on the second floor (with casino games and setup as WELL.. gotta bring in your own dealers etc. for that), a mic and music setup with popped popcorn for our guests.. oh did I also mention there's a whole DINER that you can rent and have your caterers make shakes and floats?! I was born in '92 but this venue has me wishing I was around in the 50's. Roz was incredibly thoughtful and knowledgeable about how we should throw our holiday party. We brought in a third party caterer but everything else was so seamless and efficient on the ground. Perfect venue with totally nostalgia cars and other items! Highly recommended! Excellent car collection with history on some of the cars.

Went to a bar mitzvah here and it has something for everyone! Some video games for the kids/popcorn machine/ claw game, some fancy AF cars to look at and a replica diner. I think there was 130 people but plenty of space for a dance floor! I chatted with the owners wife and she was very nice and informative. A cool place for a company event or a birthday!! read more

If you're looking for one, unique and amazing venue, then look no further. I DJ'ed at this venue at the end of 2023 and I was blown away with how amazing the venue looks inside and how much visual stimulus is everywhere in the rooms. The facility can hold quite a bit of people so for large events this is perfect. What really stood out to me is the staff that runs the facility during the event. Junior, a.k.a., Joe, and the rest of the. "J" boys were amazing to say at least. Not only did they interact with me on a regular basis throughout the night to make sure everything was going good, but they interacted with the guest and even danced with them. It's rare to see staff that are interested and excited to be a part of the event, and to do what they can to support everyone. Such positive attitudes and love their job definitely came out throughout the entire night. Hats off to the staff and the venue. I hope to come back soon. read more

Fabulous venue for my daughter's bat-mitzvah. Roz, the head event coordinator, was fantastic from minute 1! She answered all of our questions, put us at ease, and helped to make our event spectacular. Our guests w floored by the amazing space, had never seen an event space like that, and everyone had a blast. Roz even sewed up my dress after having a wardrobe malfunction...she went above and beyond to support us on our special day! Highly recommend and cant wait to have our next event here!! read more

Roz made sure everything went off smoothly, we enjoyed the casino activities above on the 2nd floor, along with the super memorable desert station served from the cutest diner ever. This space is truly special and you don't need to decorate a thing if you prefer not to because this space has it all to feel like you've been transported into another time or onto a movie set! My wife and I were passing by and saw a row of beautiful classic cars parked out in front. We stopped to take some pictures. We then noticed the cars outside were just the tip of the iceberg. We saw Gary walking around inside and he was super friendly. He seemed delighted when we asked if we could see the rest of his collection. The collection is AMAZING! This is an absolutely perfect event venue for anyone who likes classic cars. There is also a mini casino/pinball parlor upstairs, and a corner has been set up like a diner. read more

We just had a fantastic event at The Great Highway on Saturday. I can't say enough good things about working with Rozalyn in the prep process. And she was there the night of, making the rounds and making sure everything was going smoothly all night. She did not stop moving!! Her staff were attentive and wonderful. This included two servers and a bartender, as well as two additional staff for a limited time staffing the diner for serving milkshakes. All had a blast! We brought in two casino dealers and a DJ. There was not a dull moment. One word of advice. Pictures don't do The Great Highway justice. While the pictures look good, the actual place looks great. And the night of our event it looked even better. I would not hesitate to host another party here in the future should an occasion arise. read more

We had our 51st wedding anniversary here (delayed by COVID 1 year) and it was a fun venue. Rozalyn is very supportive and knowledgeable in planning for a successful event. Her recommended vendors are outstanding (Clear Sound Productions & Cheat a Little Catering). We had the gamut from kids to older adults and everyone had a good time: pinball machines, a horse ride, ice cream in Roz's Diner, a dance floor besides Gary's collection of cars and collectibles and a huge neon collection. I had the pleasure of renting a car from The Great Highway for my wedding day. Rozalyn and Gary set up a tour for me of their amazing classic car garage/event space. I chose a 1955 Chevy Bel Air, and none other than Roz herself picked me up from my hotel and drove me to my wedding. She rolled out the red carpet for me once I arrived at my wedding venue, and very sweetly held my bouquet and straightened out my wedding dress as I got out of the car. I have not had the opportunity to attend an event at their venue (they hold public and private events at The Great Highway), but I can tell you that it is truly a unique, one of a kind event space in the Bay Area! read more

The tardiness in this review in no way diminishes the incredible job that Rozalyn & her team did for my 50th birthday last September. First, The Great Highway is an amazing place to hold just about any type of event you can think of! Two floors of space, something to see where ever you look; casino tables on the 2nd floor, an old fashioned popcorn cart that serves as the bar...with popcorn, too! No other decorations are needed and they even have tables and chairs included in the rental cost. You can use their tablecloths for a small cleaning fee, which is still less than the cost to rent them. Second, Roz is such a pro and so warm and hospitable, you felt like a part of the family. She made sure that everything was what I wanted and that I was happy. You can bring in your own caterers, beverages, music, etc. Roz even let me choose which car to have for the photo area...I chose the Tiffany blue T-bird! Take a great venue, add some great food by Whisk on Wheels, Bubble Tea by Chatime and fresh made donuts by Harvey's Donuts and you get a party that people raved about. I was thrilled and it was everything I wanted to commemorate my big 5-0! We just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at the Great Highway in San Carlos. The evening was phenomenal, and exceeded our expectations. The setting provided a one of a kind experience, a Blast From The Past, in which we and sixty of our relatives and friends recaptured our experience of the 1950s. The cars, in "cherry" condition, music and signs from that era provided an immersion in the memories of our adolescence. The staff, led by Rozalyn Mendence and her assistant Dalton Sikl were exceptionally attentive and enthusiastic. Catering by Cheat-A-Little is very familiar with working in this setting, and provided wonderful food. The dinner was topped off by ice cream sundaes and milk shakes in "Roz's Diner", furnished in the 1950 style. We would give it a six stars rating out of five if we could. We just had an amazing 75th Birthday party for my husband with 150 guests and what a memorable evening it was. From the very beggining of booking the party to the actual night was a pleasurable, stress free experience. Rozalyn is the most warm and professional person to work with. Our guests were so impressed with the venue but also how warm, fun and happy this beautiful place is. Rozalyn makes you feel like you are in her home and she can't do enough for you. This place is nothing short of Amazing. Recently attended an event and was blown away. The Staff is awesome, fun and very sweet. If you like classics, this is the place to be. They are really into supporting the community and local charities. They have a lot of connections with caterers and the food was amazing. This is a great place to host meetings and functions that are outside of the boring hotels. Rozalyn coordinated the event that I attended and she nailed it. She is the definition of world class and really knows how to produce an event. All in all, I had a blast and look forward to attending another event! read more

I just had my husband's 50th birthday party here this past weekend and it was great! We wanted to find something different than having the party at a restaurant and we found this. This venue really is a gem. The casino tables were a big plus with everyone and there was a lot of room for all the guests to mingle both upstairs and downstairs. Also, Rozalyn is AMAZING!! When we were coming up with the floorplan, Rozalyn had great ideas on how to have it set up and it helped a lot because it allowed people to mingle around. She responds promptly with any questions I had (which is a big plus in my book) and she is so organized with everything. During the day of the event, she took care of everything! There is no better place to host a party than The Great Highway. We just held my son's Bar Mitzvah celebration there and it was absolutely perfect! Rozalyn is fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure our entire event was as special as could be, including opening up The Great Highway for a pre-event photo shoot so we could get pictures of my son with some of the cars to use for his signing board and announcement photos. Rozalyn and her staff were just incredible and did everything they could to make sure that not only our guests enjoyed the party, but that we did too. I didn't have to worry about a single thing. She had us drop everything off ahead of time and got it all set up so we could walk in along side our guests and just be able to enjoy our friends and family. Aside from Rozalyn, the space itself is just awesome; the cars, the decor, the casino tables, everything! Love that there is an upstairs that opens right over the dance floor. Great for photo ops but also means that no matter where you are, you're a part of the action. Felt warm and intimate but not at all too crowded for our party of 100 people. Love the old popcorn cart that serves as the bar. And Lee, the bartender that Rozalyn recommended we use was just fantastic! Nothing like walking up to the bar to get another drink and having her put it in your hand before you even ask for it. And the fresh popped popcorn is a great touch. Can't tell you how many friends commented on what a great party it was and how awesome The Great Highway is. Very special place run by a very special lady. Really, no better place to hold a party! We recently hosted a Celebration of Life reception for my father at The Great Highway. I'm convinced it was his divine intervention that led us to this amazing venue. I felt an immediate connection with Rozalyn during our initial phone conversation....she quickly felt like family and treated my mother and I as such. There wasn't a lot of time to plan and execute our event, but she handled everything from start to finish...every aspect, down to the smallest detail, was perfection. Her staff was warm, professional, and friendly. Even when we realized the number of guests arriving went far beyond our estimation, they took it in stride and no one panicked. The 50s theme, from Gary's beautiful car collection, to the music and everything in between, including some personal items, was the epitome of my dad. It was a very emotional moment when all of our guests witnessed my mother, sisters and I, pulling into the reception in one of my dads hot rods. Rozalyn surely made a very difficult time less so, and The Great Highway helped us honor my father in the most special way possible. I can't recommend The Great Highway enough!
