We use to come here more often pre pandemic after my son would get a haircut at bubble cuts and it was cute and we'd find good stuff in here. My last two recent visits we've dealt with this lady working there. I cant tell if she just doesn't want to be there or just has an attitude problem. But the kind friendly lady we use to deal with is no longer there. Which is sad because this place use to be so warm. I'm giving this place 3 stars because it use to be great. I wish I had know of this place during my son first year with us, but sadly we did not find this gem until he was two and since then have made it a regular Sunday stop. I refuse to pay more than $ 10 on any one single item of clothing for my son - seriously a rare occasion I alow myself to spend up to $ 30 on a singular item and even then it has to be something really special. I even had a hard time letting my brother spend $ 50 on his baptismal outfit and I picked such a simple one that he could wear some of the pieces again. Purposely being a budget mom spender my son is always dressed to the 9's ( a fellow MyGym mom told me that once & it stuck with me, still don't know what she meant) and I am always receiving compliments how well I dress him and part of that does have to do with Green Bean. They have really great pieces of articles of clothing here for boys and I've been very lucky to score on name brand expensive logos for less than $ 5 each, I also find the best band tees for him here as well as awesome jackets. Best part I can actually shop since they have a cute little play area exactly where the boys section is so he can play, I can shop and I can still keep my child within eyesight and well behaved. Aside from clothing they have a large section of unique gifts in the back room for children which we have also purchased for birthdays gifts and for our son, they are not at a discounted rate but they are also not the type of toys you will find a the typical toy store. I have not sold any of my clothes here because I've noticed with some reviews there have been issues, well for those of you who have had issues no one forced you to settle on a price and you could have done what a lot of moms do and sell them on FB only clothing groups- just saying! We look forward to our weekly shopping visits to the what our son calls the bubble store , go and you'll see why and I always get a smile when the girls at the counter comment on the great deal I've found. read more

What a great find!!! I was spending the day with my sister and she brought me here. I had never ever really hung out in Eagle Rock before but sure glad I did this day. We strolled in and to our delight were captured by all the interesting things in this store. They specialized in children's articles, clothing, toys ect. The store is a consignment one but also carries new items. The owner happened to be there and was very friendly and welcomed us. She explained to us how their consignment process was. I just could not get enough of this store. I ended up walking out having bought many gifts for my three grandkids. I will definitely recommend this store to all my family and friends. I wish I would of had a store like this when my kids were little. Now my grandkids will benefit from this find! I'll be sure to be back. read more

Owing a store myself you can't make everyone happy. I used to get bummed about bad reviews and also used to be a consigner wanting every piece of my stuff consigned. MY BAD. It's a disservice for a store to to take your items that can't sell. It's a waste of your time and theirs. Traci was amazing and so Is Jess, she is holding up the torch. Love this little place. I've found some great stuff. I'm only docking a star because the process of bringing in clothes to sell there is somewhat humiliating. I understand that it's a consignment business, not a thrift store, and that many of my items will not be accepted. That said, I think there's a lot the staff can do to be more compassionate with sellers, who I imagine are in many cases (as in mine) also customers. I made a real effort to bring in my most gently used items, without stains or tears, but was told that "many" of the items were stained. I was also told that they don't resell "Target brands" (does that mean Carter's?), which felt like an indirect status judgment. Even if they are 100% correct that my items are garbage and wouldn't sell, there are kinder ways to go about telling me this. I was so embarrassed by the interaction that I haven't been back since. read more

Bad experience... I do the effort to come in and NOT exchange any of my daughter's cute clothes, shoes and more, because the manager wasn't excepting any clothes at the moment. Although she did look through everything I brought for NO REASON. I basically waisted my time coming to this store for no exchanges and keep in mind I had to leave my baby at her grandmas house because it was too hot to take her out. Never going back, plus, I was looking at her stuff to notice almost everything was pricey. People, just stick with your near by donation locations and your regular kids toy store. read more

I was so excited to find this store, but was very underwhelmed when I arrived. Considering the reviews about how picky they are about the quality of the clothes they accept, I did not see anything of decent quality for my son. In fact, the selection for his age was very small-- only about 10 different options. I thought maybe I came at a bad time, but even if I was looking for clothing in a different size, I still found the quality and selection to be disappointing. read more

I wouldn't go here unless you brace yourself for insults to yourself and your child. The sales lady said she was the manager (Jennifer?) and was constantly saying things to my 2 yo like, "you don't listen, do you" - the toy area is next to new toys and my little one had veered over into the new toys to play. I asked her to stop but she continued to insult us when we went to check out. "The manager" is not someone that should be working around young children or in retail for that matter. She is missing tolerance and kindness. I originally came to my child's rescue and suggested to "the manager" that she can show toddlers something they CAN play with as a positive way to interact with them - that they are curious and interested in many things. The manager just began insulting me in response. I won't go back unless they change managers. read more

As soon as I walked in, my brain went to much and I was just in awe of all the cool things all over the store. From the vast selection of snazzy gear to the fun and educational toy selection, I was a kid again. I ended up leaving with some gently used cloth diapers ( which I love!! ) and I shall return ASAP for more goodies. I love love love it here. read more

How did I not know about this place before?? Super cute resale in really good condition, including a vintage section for my inner hipster/pioneer spirit. They have a play area for the kids, and new toys in the back. Every time we've been to this place we come away with at least a few great steals - the prices are cheap, and I have no idea how they cram so much selection into so small a place. Honestly, I'm ashamed I've ever bought new at Target and Gymboree at this point. I should have just come to the Green Bean when I got knocked up. read more

For a parent that is wanting to find high quality used clothing/shoes at great prices, this is the place! We have a two year old, and feel it's responsible to not buy everything new- this place is a great resource. She is currently wearing a pair of shoes we got there for under $10, and they have held up for a few months of daily wear. This store is awesome! I came across this store because I was in the neighborhood and looking for a cute baby store to buy some gifts. When we first came in we were pleasently greeted. I'm no parent, so i had no idea where to start for gifts. The owner gave us an awesome tour of their selection (toys, shoes, books, onesies, headbands, coats, etc). She explained to me that many moms never use some of their stuff because the baby grows quickly. So she gets some items new with tags or barely even used items. They also have baby wash products with non-harsh chemicals (which is what I was looking for), at a good price! I ended up scoring on Carter brand items ($1 bib, $3 hat, $5 onesie) and a new onesie from Kohls. Plus their gift bags are decorated with kids stickers. Saves me from the gift wrapping! They were in the middle of switching out their winter stuff for spring/summer clothing. They had a bag full of bathing suits for under $10. They also care about their community because they offer classes, entertainment for parents/kids. I had a great experience and will be coming back for future gifts :) Support your small business! read more

Great store! Great selection! Great customer service. I have done a trade in a few times. Easy and fast. I find something every time Im there. Recently picked up a -like new- pair of rain boots for my son for 6.00. Can't beat that! I stopped in during The holidays and found some large doll furniture and tub which was a huge hit with my 6 year old. This is a great store! Have been shopping here for years. I love this store!! They have great items, decently priced, and WOW is it well-organized! I was a regular customer/seller at Bluebird consignment on Larchmont, which is now closed (RIP). I was looking for a replacement, and The Green Bean comes very, very, very, very close! One caveat is that the owner (who is VERY nice) really will only take pretty high-end brands and tries not to take any big box store brands. Which is strange, because I BOUGHT things in the store from H&M and Children's Place. Go figure! But the good news is the store is full of GREAT items from nice brands and the prices are comparable to (and only a bit higher than) Bluebird's were. And did I mention how well-organized it was? I honestly wish she had more items out in the store, because the selection is somewhat minimal to what I'm used to. But what she does have is pretty wonderful. I'm a customer AND a seller there now, and plan to continue that for years to come. Eagle Rock is not very convenient for me, but I plan to make the trip at least once a month. So wait, you're telling me not only can I purchase quality used clothes and shoes for my fast growing boy but I can also sell his stuff there?! How cool is that?! So this place is awesome. I've found so many cool items in here, used AND new. They sell everything, (except car seats). I recently tried looking for an inexpensive Winter jacket for my little boy and couldn't find it in any of the 2 major chain stores nearby. I remembered about Green Bean and went inside to check it out. I found a jacket in EXCELLENT condition, great colors and pretty recognizable brand for $10! They have it all, I'm telling you! And if they don't, just keep checking and eventually they will. I love the concept of this shop. I totally support Smart Shopping. I used to look down on buying used items but with this economy I've learned to actually appreciate it. I've realized it's not only cheaper but smarter to buy used items since Consumerism has gotten out of hand with a newer version or fashion just months apart now. Ridiculous. Anyway, check it out. Great stuff and great prices. They also have all sorts of events going on during the day. My experience with green bean left me wondering...my kids were with me to engage them in some recycling effort...usually I drop off our used things at a local NCJW...but I thought why not give this reselling a try..I brought 2 bags of good clothes, 1 bag of cute shoes, almost brandnew baby carrier, etc. The buyer took the bags in the back...why in the back and not in front of the seller? IDK. She gave me back 1 bag she didn't buy, so ok. The resale value was ok, but where did the shoes go? So I asked and one of the girls came back to say they didn't see it and would check the back room where they inspect clothes I guess... The buyer came out and apologized and went back to check the shoes. She said she got confused with all the bags in the back. Could be an honest mistake. She only bought 2 pairs, so ok...they offered $25 cash (30% of resale val) or a little more for credit, but I am not interested since I don't live in the area. I sorted out the items they didn't want. They only purchased and indicated on the form a piece of clothing. Btw, I did not get a copy of this form. Originally, I had 40 pcs of clothing...let's see how many they bought from me. I need a list of purchased items. I tried to call when I got back home, but they were closed. I do hope this can be straightened out or I will truly believe the world does not have honest people left! Sad...I shall write another review once I get the list! Star rating...IDK yet. 6/26/12...new entry Ok so this has been straightened out. I got an explanation and a courtesy call/email from Traci. I always give people the benefit...and since she made an effort to clarify I will up the rating for the store! Although, I think I will stick to NCJW for now...for the convenience (gas allowance alone is not worth the drive). What a great store. I found this store while shopping for set dressing. I happen to be a new dad so I spent some extra time looking over the store. The front area is mainly used clothing in very good condition. Understandably, because my kid wears something for about 3 weeks until he has out grown it. I wish I knew about the store earlier. The back part of the store reminds me of a toy store I loved as a kid called the "Imaginarium." The owner Traci was the icing on the cake however, she was so helpful and seemed so genuinely devoted to her store and helping people find the right things for their kids at the right prices. It was a very refreshing experience, and so different from Babies r'us and similar stores. I'll be recommending it to all my friends with young children. read more

Have been taking my children's things in here (to 'recycle' and get store credit) for the past 2 years and have ALWAYS had excellent help from the staff, especially the owner. I really appreciate that they don't try to gouge parents on used kid's items like other consignment stores. Great selection of clothing (especially seasonal items) and books and newer toys like Melissa & Doug. Ask the staff if they have any larger items in the back (like strollers) bc a lot of time they have more inventory but no where on the floor to display it. They also offer music time on Tuesdays too for a nominal fee, it's a great place for you and your kids to get up and dance and sing together. Absolutely love this neighborhood gem! read more

Do you believe in magic? Toddler shorts is what brought me to the intersection of Eagle Rock and Colorado Boulevard yesterday afternoon. My partner doesn't always keep the faith that I can dress our boy properly. (Guess I can't really blame her. I wear the same thing everyday: Dickies shorts with a Hanes white t-shirt, sometimes v-neck, sometimes crew) I tell myself I'm classic -- like Ralph Lauren or that other guy who saved Banana Republic from irrelevance. From all accounts, they both wear the same thing every single day of their lives. But the truth is, I've gotten old, cheap, and find the effort required to put together a more fashion conscious ensemble a complete waste of time. My last attempt was about three weeks ago. I wore a collared shirt to my son's baptism. I figured the least I could do was dig out the faded Polo that I bought from a Ross three years ago. I even took it out the night before and hung it on a hanger. In our family photos, I still looked like I got folded and pressed in a dictionary. Parked at a 30 minute meter on Eagle Rock, unfolded the stroller, and grabbed an ice-tea next door, before we rolled into The Green Bean to up my 1-year-old's wardrobe. The girl working the register was sweet enough to direct me the three steps to the racks of shorts and t-shirts that I couldn't see because I'd taken off my prescription sunglasses and forgotten my regular glasses in the car. I flipped through the ample selection of shorts and decided on a gently used pair of white cargo's and a couple of gray and white t-shirts off the neighboring rack. We were on our way back to the register, when we were stopped dead in our tracks by a pair of brand-new looking rust-colored LL Bean slipper shoes with hedgehogs on the top. I clenched my fists and nodded my head approvingly knowing that these were the real reason I'd been drawn to The Green Bean. I held them up to my son's feet, and, sure enough, they were the perfect size for his chubby growing dogs. When I got back in the car, I turned the AC on high, took a long sip of my watered-down tea, and winked at my boy in the rearview mirror. Daddy done good today. Ok so maybe I will change my review if I actually try and give this place a shot. I found parking on the street and up hill pushed my one year old in the stroller while carrying the 60lb box of clothes and 2 big toys with a 4 year old in tow for the one day a week (Monday of course) that this place does trades. I got one step in the door and the woman says sorry we are not doing trade until December 7th (1 week away) are you kidding!!!! I guess I was supposed to read every inch of their calendar on their site and see the black sign out front posted high up out of eye line because mothers with 2 young kids always look up as they walk in a door. So frustrating not sure if I am going to even try to go back. :( my favorite second hand store closed and I can't find one to take its place. Sad this was such a bad experience right off the bat. read more

I agree with Sean C.'s review, go on a Tuesday and combine it with a visit to Family Song at the American Legion Hall at 10 am. I've brought goods there on Monday trade days, such as gently used clothing, unused cloth diapers and a bouncer, and gotten store credit to purchase what my girls could use now. Nice selection of clothes, new shoes, baby gifts and new toys, jewelry items, hair accessories, and musical instruments. Was very tempted to get a ukulele for my then-5 year old, but we decided to wait. Selection of gently used tap shoes. Wonderful activities offered throughout the year such as tie-dying tee shirts, storytelling, and, most recently, a puppy adoption day. Small play area your child can occupy him or herself with while you browse. Shop owner Traci is very gracious and friendly, as is the staff. Check them out! read more

Favorite place to get clothes for my cubs, most especially for the eco-friendly factor and impeccable and loving customer service. Customers can trade in gently used items for store trade and there is always an ample and plentiful variety of name brand clothes, toys, books and art supplies to choose from. The staff and owner are wonderful and sweet and so very kind and helpful and always feel very welcomed and happy to stop in to say hello with my cub tribe. My kids love to come to the store to peruse what's new and to play as there is a convenient play area for the little ones while mamas and families shop. They sell super cheap baby reused clothes, you can also trade your used baby clothes if it's in good condition which is a great deal. I wish i would have found this store around when both of my girls were little. They carry shoes, toys and all kinds of cute gifts for infants and kids at really low and great prices. The owner was really nice and was ready to help everyone walking in and out of her cute little shop. read more
