I was impressed with all the fountains and someone did help me with picking out a small pump for my fountain. The problem was it did not fit properly when I got home and installed it. I wanted to return the pump that was barely used( just immersed in water to 5 sec , did not fit.) But then was told I could only get a store credit. This is ridiculous!!! what am I going to buy at a fountain shop??? I already have a fountain. Bad business...., will never buy or shop there for my future fountains again. read more

I'm changing my initial review to 3 stars - due only to the fact that the owner and I had a 30 minute conversation this morning in which I was able to share with him my entire experience with his company starting back in August. My previous post reflected the "straw that broke the camel's back" and I posted only about the delivery snafu and my frustrations with that. My concerns dating back to August and up until yesterday include 2 senior level folks in this organization who were unbelievably rude and condescending towards me. Also the mechanism/paperwork for labor charges is unnecessarily obtuse (by design as I was told) so that you have -0- idea of what to expect upon delivery and setup of a fountain. As the owner explained to me, if you tell someone it will take 2 hours to install and it takes 4 hours, then the customer gets mad. So this company has opted to not tell you anything and not give you any parameters at all of what to expect. Imagine my surprise when the installation crew told me I owed them $550 for labor after also paying a $125 delivery fee. I appreciated the owner taking the time to discuss these matters with me. It certainly shows that he is hands-on and does care about the customer. He texted me a few hours after our conversation to let me know he had spoken with his team to address my concerns. He is walking the walk, and as I told him, I would do so as well and would update my review. I do have a very positive review of some folks, specifically Adrianna and the team at the Green Goddess site. My husband and I spent 1 1/2 hours selecting a fountain. Adrianna was professional, patient and very helpful in this process along with the guys who helped in moving things around and getting each fountain up and running so we could see it in action. She and her team are to be commended for their excellent customer service. read more

The guy shows me a cactus plant with a similar name telling me I'm Incorrect about the plants and then says he doesn't know if he has what I'm looking for and that you can't help me until Monday which is a holiday. This is an interesting place, I'd seen it many times before but never had a chance to step inside until today. Not unlike some other larger nurseries in Phoenix, they have a couple of massive aviaries with large, vocal birds of a few varieties (Blue and Gold Macaws, Green and even Scarlet Macaws, plus a Cocaktiel) and even a chicken coop with hens and roosters. The birds are fun to look at, but like their counterparts in a zoo, they all seem rather disinterested in their human visitors, probably because it's old hat. Can't really blame them! As far as the selection and layout, I guess it's a toss up. The layout is interesting, and I guess fun for people just exploring the place to see what they have, but honestly it's poorly conceived and executed from a retail standpoint. Case in point, you have pottery and statuary strewn about, sometimes in dangerously high stacks (can you imagine if some careless child was running about?). If I was the owner, I would be petrified by the potential for accidents, property loss and injury, but that's just my $.02. Statues, fountains and pottery seem to be interspersed haphazardly, again with no real pattern or systematic layout. If you're looking for plants and not pottery, it's still a messy layout. Signage indicates cactus and agave are this way and that, but many times there's just no rhyme or reason to where they place this stuff. You'll find some mislabeled Agave zebra (they called it A. marmorata) strewn about near the chicken/bird aviaries, but also in another area, and still mislabeled. They also have some smaller cactus on tables by the front, which seemingly houses random plants. There are also some specimens tucked away at the back area of the "pottery maze", again with no rhyme or reason. If the layout forces you to scour every inch of the nursery to be sure you've seen all the agave, that's a pretty poor layout, wouldn't you you say? In addition, if you're looking for a larger specimen of agave, you'll have to look all over because it's basically an Easter-egg hunt. That's OK, except they are still mislabeled. Ironically, they have an all-too-obvious Agave marmorata that was mislabeled as A. salmiana, of all things. Consider the price tag on even the moderately sized specimens are in the triple-digit range, you might try a bit harder to label them correctly. These were not some gray-area plants that were too young to properly ID, nor is there anyone with their head screwed on straight who can mistake zebra vs. marmorata, much less marmorata vs. salmiana. Either willful ignorance or just plain laziness on the part of the nursery. I have never seen such egregious mislabeling on agave before, and it makes me question the accuracy on other things. Last but not least, their website is wholly inaccurate. They list on their site the following bamboo available at this nursery: Bambusa membranacea (which is actually Dendrocalamus membranacea, but I digress) Bambusa multiplex Bambusa pervariabilis Bambusa ventricosa So, after walking throughout their complex and looking at every square foot, including their massive and otherwise very impressive green house in back, there was not a bamboo to be seen. I asked a staffer at the front desk if they had any bamboo, and he flatly responded with a no. I point out that their website indicates they have some and he tells me "We used to have a source for multiplex, but not anymore." I guess the translation here is that they really only had one kind of bamboo, and now they don't even have those anymore. Seriously? A follow-up call on the matter yielded the oft-quoted, "our website is being updated," line regarding the misinformation. I guess if that ever happens, I'll update the review accordingly, but I don't think anyone is going to hold their breath on that one. I really wanted to like this place, and even found myself wishing I'd brought a camera, but at the end of the day it was a let down and a waste of time. In a nutshell, an overabundance of expensive pottery littering an already poorly organized nursery, that doesn't actually sell the things their website claims they do. Not sure why I would want to go back. Edit: I did end up going back, and even got some pictures this time. I will say that, despite all odds, they have actually made the shopping experience worse than it already was. How, you ask? They installed speakers throughout the facility and now play an endless and overly loud stream of music, non-stop. I've never been to a nursery that played music, much less music this loud and certainly not this bad (think whiny, wailing vocal crap like Imagine Dragons and Adele). I swear, you could fool me into thinking they actually wanted to drive customers away with this stuff, because the volume is absolutely intolerably loud. Even the poor birds cannot stand it and sure enough, they screech and squawk endlessly in protest. The ensuing cacophony is enough to make you want to stab yourself in the ear. Unreal! read more

I second the five-star rating here. We came to look for an indoor tree, and they had a very nice selection and a trillion pots to choose from. Very impressive selection of fountains and any other garden items you may need. All the plants looked great! Nothing worse than seeing dying plants at a nursery. If they can't take care of them, I would have no hope. David helped us and was very knowledgable. Gave us all the info we needed on necessary lighting conditions, water requirements, etc. He helped us determine the right size pot we needed and set us up with the styrofoam we needed to put in the bottom, plastic saucers, etc. The nursery's owner rescues macaws and other birds that need homes. Since the birds live at the nursery, David had some very amusing tales about the birds and their habits. We will definitely be back and ask for David next time we have garden needs. read more

Amazing selection of pots and plants. (You could say I'm a little picky and even I was able to find just the right things!) :) Green Goddess updated our front yard - everything from adding more gravel, to adding more plants and 2 new trees - even custom ordering just the right trees for our needs. They also gave us privacy bushes for the back yard after our neighbors new yard guys trimmed their hedges back so far we could see into their house. And they beautified our entire home when they found a way to add planters with the most beautiful and lush, seasonal flowers flanking either side of the garage. (And every season they plant NEW lush flowers for a nominal fee). My stepmother was recently over and she said our yard has never looked more beautiful....and she's even pickier than I am! Haaa! Warmest thanks to the fabulous team at Green Goddess for making our house feel (and look) more like a home. read more

We purchased our fountain from Green Goddess eight years ago. They had a good selection. They installed it and that went well. However, our fountain now leaks and we called them for service. The follow up for service was very poor. They are not customer focused. We were asked why it leaked...I don't know. We were asked to bring it in... Ummm, no. It weighs 400 lbs. They sent an invoice just to get on their schedule and wanted 50% payment before they did any work and before they even can came out to look at it. Green Goddess did an excellent job of installing my backyard Roman trough fountain. HOWEVER, when I asked them to replace the pump which had worn out they wanted to charge me twice what the pump sold for online plus $90.00 to travel time to my house, PLUS $45.00 an hour to install it. Minimum to switch out my fountain pump would be over $250.00. read more

Received incorrect and contradicting plant care advice. Staff is not very knowledgeable, and seem to be making things up if you ask for information. I purchased 2 large euphorbia plants - they we over priced but decided to save time and just buy them. With the high price, I expected to at least get good service, unfortunately this was not the case. Plants were poorly wrapped for transport, and plant care advice was worthless. (did my own research and realized they did not know what they were talking about), they offer NO warranty. I will look for a new nursery to do business with. read more

Awful customer service! Bought an outdoor chimney, took it home and made a fire. It cracked and broke on the first use, so I took it back for a replacement. They told me all sales are final, and that the fire I made was "too hot" for the chimney. Huh? Last I checked chimney's are made for fires, and don't come with user manuals, so not sure how i could make too hot a fire??? Anyway, totally unwilling to resolve to an acceptable solution. They offered me 50% off the purchase of another chimney. No way am I giving them more money -- you would think a place that sells pottery and clay based products would be good about breaks etc. Buyer beware at Green Goddess -- no effort on trying to make a situation right. read more

I give four stars for one reason only: not a lot of small stuff. For everything else, Green Goddess is an adventure. They have a good selection and probably the most pottery in Phoenix. There's some good artsy stuff and cool fountains and more native desert plants than anywhere I've seen yet. The staff is nice and they have a whole bunch of big tropical birds that roam the premises, which I like. It adds some pizzazz to my nursery trip. read more

In response to Andre L's comment, if the pump was in good working order I would never have brought it back. And for the sake of argument, even if it was working perfectly, it does not excuse the owner's "unprovoked" loud, mean spirited, angry words to me. He actually told me to leave his store and take my pump with me. He would not even listen to me when I tried to explain what was wrong with the pump. I went to ACE hardware afterward and the man at ACE showed me what was wrong with the pump and why I was not getting enough pressure, and sold me the inexpensive part to fix it. I bought the fountain from Green Goodess and the pump. Just BEWARE if you have any problems with your purchase afterwards. My one star sticks. read more

I came here to the green goddess with my mom and younger sister. While my mom was shopping for plants (doing mom stuff), my sister and I went to their bird exhibit. How cool was this! First off, many of the parrots here are rescue parrots, which is a really cool thing to see. Some of their parrots talk, and say things like "hello" and their name! When we left, one parrot said "goodbye" and waved at us with its wings. Before we left, they offered us free waters (which I gladly took because it's like 1,000,000 degrees outside). Great service. Cool birds. And a great environment. read more

This is not a place you want to buy Anything from. Look at the repeated behaviors in the yelp reviews. If you buy anything from them it is a final sale. They have no warranties. If your plants die in a week, you are Told it's your fault. The owner Andre takes no responsibility as well. It's as if they have a script in place to make the customer mad and then they begin to tell you that you are hard to deal with. They offer that they can't replace your tree for free, that it will cost you. When you tell them how absurd that is, they blame you and say if you were more cooperative they were would have worked something out. In other words you have to pay more money. So that infuriates you and that is used to completely shut you down. I called 30 nurseries in the state and everyone of them has between 3 months and one year warranty on trees, plants and shrubs. Green Goddess came highly recommended by a friend, and so I went there to talk to them. The moment I set foot in their business I felt at home and well taken care of. From helping me come up with some great landscaping ideas, over providing some great choices of plants and planters to a wonderfully whimsical fountain, I got everything I needed - and it shows. Do Not Use this company. I signed up for the maintenance program because they said they would replace any plants that died. Within a few weeks a plant died. This was over a year ago and I was told it would grow back. Now I am being told it will not be replaced. Justin called and was very aggressive towards be when I emailed asking for him to replace the plant or refund the money I paid for the maintenance program. read more

The parrots are friendly the staff is friendly, but the manager and owner's son, Mr. Grimm, is rude. I have purchased many times in the past but after dealing with Mr. Grimm, I would never purchase there again. After waiting two months for a delivery of a cactus, I called a week prior to the delivery to see if I could get an afternoon time slot, he said no. I asked if I could get a 30 minute warning call. He said no. Unlike the other nurseries around town he was not client friendly. Their delivery organization is badly run. If you can't have someone pick it up, it is better to shop somewhere else. read more

We recently replaced our 4 tier water fountain and selected Green Goddess for the demolition of the old fountain, and construction of the new fountain. They showed up on the morning they promised to begin the demolition and finished construction of the new fountain on the afternoon they told us they would. They kept the worksite spotless during the entire process. A few days later the fountain stopped because of a faulty Ground Fault switch. They responded within an hour of my phoning them, found the faulty switch, fixed it and got the fountain going within a half hour of their arrival - no charge for this repair visit. I'm very disappointed with a recent experience I had with this company. I called for assistance diagnosing an issue I with a fountain in my yard. I was told it would be $80 to drive to my home to diagnose the issue, regardless of the outcome. Many businesses charge a service fee to make a home visit but then offset that fee by any actual repairs or labor needed. I'm ok with this since I wouldn't expect them to send someone down then find nothing to be done and forced to absorb the trip expenses. After requesting to speaking with the repair manager, Aaron, I he said it would be $80 to drive to my home regardless of the repairs completed or not since he has to send out a minimum of two men and a full heavy-duty truck. This makes zero sense since I'm simply asking for diagnosis and expect a minor issue. Why would anyone send two men and a heavy duty truck for such a house call is beyond me. I recognize fuel is expensive and businesses need to recoup their costs but it does not cost $80 do make a home visit. It's clear to me that green goddess is not interested in my business based on this ridiculous policy. I'll find a fair and reputable fountain repair business that wants my business. My best friend picked out many pots for her backyard and said this place was the place to go....boy was she wrong! The place is nice and yes, they do have some nice pots, but the female salesperson had a really bad attitude (as if I was the lucky one to be there) and the manager's attitude is pretty similar in hindsight. They let my friend have a 10% discount the week earlier for her large order and because there was a 10% discount mailer on the counter at that time but when I brought it up they denied ever having it/doing that or that my friend even purchased anything there (her pots were still there until their landscapers/contractors finished her backyard). We couldn't find saucers for my pots so I paid extra to have the inside of the pots sealed because I told the salesman I wanted to plant live plants in them inside my house and that was his recommendation. The following day I noticed water coming out of one of the pots and called to see if I could swap it out with another similar one and "double seal" it. The female salesperson disregarded my input and barely acknowledged what I was saying and when I asked to speak to the manager he only gave me grief for planting a live plant without drainage and a saucer even though the helpful salesman said it would work and I wasn't worried about overwatering my plants and getting root rot. All I wanted was to work out the issue and all I got an ear full of grief without coming to a fair conclusion. I certainly will NOT go back and drop the money I was going to for the pots in my backyard based on this experience and unless you want a plate of attitude served at you I wouldn't recommend going. read more
