What a classy place. Dimly-lit, with huge comfy booths, wooden tables, and an interesting drink menu full of items containing fresh-squeezed juices. Bartenders are helpful and friendly and make a damn good whiskey sour. The cucumber martini is delicious, with a chili-salted rim. Prices are slightly more expensive than I'd like, but worth it for the atmosphere. When I was there a live band was playing covers that made me smile, like "Tiny Dancer" and the Adams Family theme. My only complaint would be that music was way too loud. Even at the very back of the bar, I couldn't hear anything my friends were saying over the music, so we ended up going upstairs to the Knife and Fork. read more

Atmosphere is great, bartenders are knowledgeable, and you have a blend of different folks out here. I will tell you something, their infused shots and drinks are great. The bar itself is somewhat hidden because it is underground and only marked by a green light on the outside. This is a great place to go out with a few friends to just chill. This is not like your typical bar where you will see folks stumbling around, being loud and obnoxious. It's a great scene! The inside location reminds me of an old style cigar type bar with a solid mahogany, oak and cherry wood furniture. The bar is quaint; therefore, you will not have a slew of TV's (you are looking at two small 23" TV's at best). You could always order your typical scotch on the rocks, but... your best bet is drinking some of their own crafted drinks they pride themselves on. I have been here a few times, and I have enjoyed myself each time. Came with a few co-workers last night at about 7ish. This place is kinda hidden and underneath a restaurant. Just flow the green lights! haha. But overall it was a nice little place to have a few drinks. It was fairly early on a Tuesday evening so you can imagine how quiet this place was, but even then with only one bartender it took a while to get drinks and close the tab at the end of the night. They could also use a drink menu or a few more options as to promoting their signature drinks. I was happy with what I ordered but I wish I know what other good drinks this place had to offer. One goood thing about this place is that happy hour ends at 9!! Another great thing is the cucumber martini! It was delicious! I will definitely give this place another shot. Probably bring my husband and have a few drinks in a relaxing place without the loud and crowded atmosphere of any other bar in town. We got here right when it opened so we were the only group there. The bartender who opened was friendly and suggested several drinks and explained what each one was before we ordered it. Very knowledgeable bartender and went out of his way to welcome us to this 'Speak Easy' type of establishment. The place was great while we were there for the few hours but I have heard it gets packed in the late evenings. I liked the bar and would return again for early evening drinks, but will steer clear of the packed hours. Refuse to fight through a crowd to pay someone for a drink I can make at home. read more

Shhhhh....I didn't tell you about this place. (Don't worry, I won't force you to picture me wearing a flapper dress the way I do when I say this...) I went to the Green Lantern with my cousin and husband on a strange "school night," and was immediately in love with the place. How can you not be in love with a pub/bar/speakeasy that requires you trade in your I.D. for the Moscow Mule in a true copper cup? Apparently the thieves are getting tired of jacking A/C's, or they're thinking "I wanna make this at home, but where in Hades do I get a copper mug??" I also had a Pimms (PEEAAMMMMMMMMZZZ) Which I learned about through a wonderful episode of Samantha Brown's London Experience. Really? You can't go wrong with anything. Well, there is a jalepenoinfusedsomethingoranother that I just can't get used to. Don't worry, it's not you, it's me. I hate cucumber water as well. I always order mine in the South as a "hold the veggies." The daily drinks are posted on a chalkboard and include the most interesting concoctions of libations and sides (fruit, juice, or otherwise). It is a fairly small venue (which cost it a star), but if it were any larger, would it really be a speakeasy? TIP: Once you find the address, it is NOT the place upstairs. I like the look and feel of this little bar. They have a good beer selection, my favorite is the NC Scrimshaw (crisp, refreshing, citrusy pilsner). Although I only had a few beers I saw that they have some unique martinis also. It wasn't too crowded when we went so the service was good. I wish this place wasn't so far into Stone Oak.. it feels iike it took forever to get there! Too far for me to indulge safely lol. read more

We have only been to this bar twice but it is one of our favorites. If it was closer to our house, we would be regulars. They have a great happy hour. We typically get moscow mules and they are wonderful. We have had two different bartenders and they have both been personable and very good at making drinks. Cucumber martinis are too good to be true! I could definitely get in trouble drinking too many of them but man are they tasty! This place is definitely a good place to go for a chill night with a good crowd. Some nights they also have really good bands that play acoustic music. I don't know if it was a bad night or short staffed or someone had thrown up really bad in the place ... but right when you walked in ... the smell of Pine Sol or Fabulouso murdered your nostrils and smelling senses. I thought ... it'll go away surely! No it didn't. The bartender was really nice but it looked like he was the only one there at the time and the place was half full. We sat down at a booth and thought someone would come take our order, no one came ... so my friend went and ordered drinks at the bar, took a while and then came back with our dirty martinis. They tasted fine but we both literally kept tasting the scent of the place because it really didn't go away. It tastes like we were drinking cleaning product. I really wanted to enjoy this place and have it be a bar that I could frequent since I live so close ... first impression status is a fail but I'm a gal who gives second chances. I love this place! It has a cozy atmosphere that starts as you descend the steps at the entrance. The coziness makes you want to cozy up with another and another drink! It is so easy to get comfortable here! And speaking of drinks.. they infuse their alcohol with various flavors and all are amazing! My favorite to date is their cucumber martini! Decided to check this place out after a friend recommended it. We were about to end the night but our friend suggested us to try it out since it was close to their house. Location wise - it is sort of hidden. The only thing that distinguishes it is the small green lantern light that shines outside of the door when you go down the stairs. Luckily it was not that crowded that day and we even met the owner who was pretty cool! He asked us what type of drinks we all liked and made us drinks he thought we would like. And to our surprise we liked all the drinks! They were so good! We also ordered a few more drinks, and unfortunately I can't recall the names but they were all very delicious! The only downfall is that it is far away from downtown and other bars. So once you go there, you are kind of stuck there unless you plan on driving pretty far to go elsewhere. If I'm in the area and out for drinks I'll definitely check it out but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go here. read more

Walked into this place and I was very excited, it's cute and cool and had some unique drinks listed on their wall (blue margarita = sooo good although it's more of a martini). Well fast forward to an hour later, it's impossible to get a drink (I waited 30 minutes) and the bartenders are being rude. There was a sweet bar back who offered to make my drink until his boss came over, stopped him and rudely asked me, "Are you unhappy?" I ignored the attitude and asked for my drink. I love this little spot. Couldn't find it at first because it is actually underneath another restaurant/bar and it was at night, but as soon as I saw the green lantern I knew I had found it! The bartenders are great for conversation and since there is no cocktail menu they're very helpful about telling you about their cocktails without being snobs and making you feel dumb for asking whats in a drink. My parents and I went to this bar when it first opened and I have to say that i really liked it. The atmosphere was cool and laid back. There were a lot of older folks there but I like it because I didn't have guys coming up and trying to hit on me. The music was a little loud but I was still able to have a conversation with my parents. The bar tenders were really nice. I'm not sure if it was because it was still early in the nigh or what but the bar tender that we had gave us a couple of drinks for free!!
