Overpriced, tiny salad, I got Royal plate, the gyro meat wasn't that tasty, the tabouli was below average, the chicken was ok but nothing special. I don't know what it was but I developed a queasy stomach withing and hour. I eat Mediterranean Food at least 2x a week but the place I go to Zara is so much better. All I could think of was how I wished I had gone to In-N-Out for two burgers instead of spending $55 for two meals and Tabouli, no drinks. I won't be back. I do love a restaurant that is consistently great. My wife and I always order the #1 Filet Mignon Beef Kebab and honestly feel it's the best dinner deal in Ventura County! The beef is soft and excellent quality, the rice is fluffy & very tasty and the hummus that comes with the combo is delicious. We also get the falafel occasionally and that is great as well. I love that you can customize your plate, so try their salads instead of the American green salad-- so fresh and reminds me of my travels in the Mideast. Hummus is outstanding. Yes there is a delicious Mediterranean restaurant in downtown Oxnard. You don't have to order everything separately like one does at the Greek. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly having pink and tender and flavor. Not heavily spiced. If you want more spice put in that green sauce which is their special sauce. Medium high spice and smooth. Shrimp kabob was also perfect. One can choose different style of meat. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The food is fresh. It is Arab style. Even though the downtown location of Green Olive opened-up this location 9 months ago, we had our first meal there last night, and left very satisfied! Located at 450 So. B Street, corner of B and 5th, we entered the very new-looking, bright and spotlessly clean restaurant and ordered at the counter from the many appetizing selections available. The appearance is mostly one of an order and take-out establishment, but there were 10 or 12 tables there for indoor and outdoor dining (which we chose.) While enjoying our meal, we witnessed a steady stream of customers picking-up their orders....how did I not know about this place??!! While there are vegetarian plates, we settled on the combination plates of skewers of chicken, steak, and "kofta" (ground or minced meat with middle eastern spices) kebabs, served on a bed of yellow rice, with sides of salad and hummus. and warm, fresh pita. Very reasonably priced and very generous portions, the meal was delicious. The very kind and exceedingly hospitable manager (and chef), Thabet, also added to the enjoyment of the evening. Save room for the mouth-watering baklava for dessert. Though service is quick and efficient, and if you eat there, you will be using plastic utensils and paper plates, the actual food itself is as wonderful as you would get in any quality middle eastern restaurant. We welcome Green Olive to our "short list" of favorites in Oxnard and we're very happy to see the diversity in choices that is beginning to appear here. Chicken kebab, kafta kebab, filet mignon kebab, 2 dolmas, 2 falafels, hummus, and salad (normally comes with rice but I don't fork with rice) garlic sauce and green hot sauce on the side. My S.O. and I finished everything and even though we're only in the area overnight, I told her I know where I want to go for lunch tomorrow.
