So this restaurant has been around since early 80s making great lunches...but they have got a brunch that is wonderful...every little detail of my order was cooked to perfection...I had the boar sausage with grits and eggs cooked to order...they put something in the eggs to make it creamy an addicting. They also serve brunch drinks (the crabbie bloody Mary is yum) and that was all done up thanks to Joanne our server ...she is a gem. She recommended we try the Friday BOGO prime rib...got a reservation and we went last night and that was a great deal and seasoned perfectly. NOTE TO SELF: don't sit too close to stage speakers that may be set up...they showcased a musician...real great singer songwriter and guitarist...I just would have enjoyed the music a little further away ...like at least 3 feet away from the speaker! Oh I forgot to mention the one irresistible piece of this place...someone is baking up a storm and bringing in all kinds of goodies...my wife and I split a huge eclair that was decadent. I had the chicken tenders and they where $15 so I was interested but when I tell you it was bland I'm not joking. it was just watery chicken some of the breading was soggy because it was so wet. Like so many fast food places chicken strips are way better and for a fraction of the price. The only reason I could eat the things was because of the honey mustard. AMAZING. My girlfriend and i came in for lunch. We sat down ordered some drinks and i had the turkey sandwich. The bread was so soft and amazing. The turkey cooked perfectly. AMAZING. We ended up back there the next night for dinner. We were visiting family out there. The staff was so friendly. The food is fresh. The place is awesome. The shrimp used are the frozen, teeny tiny, precooked kind. The pulled pork was dry. Plate sizes were not appropriate for the food it contained. Seating was cramped. Cleanliness was ok. The decor was literally priced for sale. It was like dining at a yard sale. Food prices were too high for the quality of the food. It was edible. Service was slow. This place is so adorable! From the outside it looks like a cute little shop tucked away off the main road. It's small and intimate and artsy. I was met with a greeting and a smile minutes after I walked in. My waitress was all smiles and simply wonderful. Her name escapes me but there were only 2 working on 4/27/21012 and she was the blonde. I ordered a garden salad and a bowl of the blue crab soup. The salad was fresh and the dressing (lemon basil) was delicious. The soup tasted like pure joy running down my throat. It was the best crab soup I have tasted in years! I did not like this place at all. The service was extremely slow. I ordered a salad with grilled shrimp. It was iceberg lettuce with cocktail shrimp that they had heated up on the grill. Went here for lunch after a nearby meeting on a Thursday. Cute spot, but this wasn't the place to choose for a quick workday lunch. It took over half an hour for our food to arrive, and we ordered off the lunch menu! It's not like the place was crowded, either... All of the other patrons were clearly of retirement age, so I'm guessing most people who work around this area of Hampton know that the Grey Goose isn't a spot for fast service. If you're retired or have plenty of time to kill, try it out. I was lured in by the vegan options and chose one of the vegan power bowls. My lunch date had the fried green tomato BLT and an iced latte. We both enjoyed our food. It was dead silent in there though and despite a fairly empty dining room, the hostess/waitress sat us next to two other occupied tables. Some background music would've been nice (or, don't seat everyone in a little cluster) so that we could've had a little bit of privacy. read more

I have to say.....been coming to The Grey Goose for a steady 10yrs. Even with the ownership changes, there is one dish that is absolutely amazing. "Chicken in a Basket" cute name for chicken salad on a croissant.i must say their chicken salad is truly the best I've ever had. Love to slip away to "The Goose" for lunch when I can, and today's home-made broccoli quiche just hit the spot, not to mention to drool-worthy garlic bread! And on a picture-perfect day like today, al fresco dining on their patio couldn't get any better! I usually get the smoked turkey panini but just couldn't pass up the quiche today. I took the family here for brunch. One of the first things I skied hen I walked in was, "do you have a kids menu?" The had one, but it didn't have any breakfast items. So we ordered 2 of the $9 dollar French toast meals for my twin boys. As much as the pick over food, I didn't want really spend that much money on them, but I did. The fresh toast was made out of crescents stuffed with a custard/cream and topped with Nutella. This meal was a fat boy's dream! One of my boys crushed it while the other ate about a third of it before he cried, "Daddy I'm full." So I picked up my fork and started to eat his food. My God! It was so rich and sweet. By the time I finished his food, I didn't want to eat my breakfast burrito that had not yet arrived to the table. My wife and I ordered a couple cocktails that were the bomb! Definitely not light on the liquor. We sipped our way through our meals. When my burrito arrived, I had to send it back because it was cold. The chef brought out my new meal and apologized for the issue. The salsa used on the burrito should be sold in stores. It was delish! The burrito itself was basic. Nothing spectacular to write about. The next time I'll try something else of the menu. My wife ordered the avocado toast. It looked like guacamole spread thin on toast. I didn't ask her about how she liked it. But I will say that their home fried potatoes are legit! Definitely get some of them with what ever you get. Fantastic lunch today with my daughter Jenn. Hot summer days means "Lite Fare" and the Grey Goose knows exactly how to do it. We both had salads for lunch today. I ordered the Apple Walnut with a chicken breast. Jenn ordered her salad without (of course) the chicken breast. Very light, refreshing and cool on this hot/humid day in downtown Hampton. As usual the service was good and the people were very friendly...a real hometown atmosphere and the desert selection is to die for. You gotta check this place out. You won't be sorry they do a fabulous job to please. Looking forward to going back for a great dinner this Wednesday evening 6/20 btwn 6 & 8pm and enjoying some of Hector's great acoustic guitar music and fun. Nightmare experience. Food was good but everything fell apart with the bill. Gave waitress the bill folio with the credit card sticking up from the plastic holder (5 in our group saw this), she returned and said we never gave a credit card. Explained that I did and suggested that they have the band make an announcement that the card was lost and ask patrons to please look for it, which they did. Never found it and they were to check for it when the restaurant closed. I put my card on hold until they had the chance to find it. They could not find it and the owner questioned whether I had ever given the card. I had to cancel the card and all accounts attached to it had to be changed. In the spirit of good customer relations the owner sent me a bill for the dinner. When I got the bill it had the order wrong. More work than the dinner was worth!! read more
