Super cute local eatery with great service! Food is delicious. I had their pot roast that was so tender and juicy and I love their lemon basil Brussels sprouts. I also had their blue cheese, tomato, and bacon nachos that were a wonderful twist to normal nachos. Definitely portioned for two people! You must also get their cupcakes!! read more

We came in tonight to order a birthday cake and decided to grab dinner. For 20 minutes we watched the 3 servers huddle around the register, never even took our drink order. After watching the table next to us flag one down only be told they weren't her table, we left. After 4 visits with poor service and twice it being so bad we got up and left, we will not be back. Ordered a blueberry mimosa and was unsatisfied that I was not told the size of the drink beforehand. When the drink was brought, it was brought in less than a 4oz cup. Asked to have the drink taken back and exchanged for a different drink. Manager stated she would still charge for the mimosa even though I did not drink the drink, then offered to add things to the mimosa for an additional charge. She said she couldn't exchange because "it was the law" so I told her to show it to me. Show me the law and she didn't because there's no law when I researched VA alcohol laws. Never had this happen before where I couldn't exchange a drink I never drank out of for another one that was MORE EXPENSIVE. They could have offered a pitcher like another table, but didn't. So stuck on $7 when they could have had more. Sad, just sad. read more

The bananas in my friend's foster French toast weren't ripe enough either. When you look from the outside it looks like a cute little place, but when you walk in you get this HUGE cozy vibe and you feel welcome. i was greeted quickly and seated quicker. My company held its annual Holiday/Awards Banquet at the Grey Goose this year. We had a three course meal complete with "dinnertainment" by the Grey Goose's in-house performers. The menu presented options for each course, and I opted for the beef stew, beef tenderloin, and eggnog bread pudding. I enjoyed both the stew and the tenderloin, but I was REALLY enjoying the bread pudding. Bread pudding isn't exactly on my list of favorite desserts, but I like to drink a fair share of eggnog during the holidays so I had to try it. It wasn't too sweet, the bread was nice and moist from the eggnog, and the whipped cream on the top was perf. They have a full bar with their own cocktail specials, and the wines are nicely displayed and described on a chalkboard on one of the walls. About the only problem I had was that the entrance is really on Old Hampton where we found better 'middle of the day' parking. My daughter & I decided to have a business lunch yesterday since she had a discount coupon and I was in Hampton during the lunch hour. After finally locating a parking spot (better on Old Hampton) we went in and were immediately greeted by a very warm and friendly employee. In fact, all of the service was wonderful. The food came out fast and was very nicely prepared. The one exception was that the spinach was a bit wilted on my smoked turkey panini. Maybe from the toasting but it detracted a little. Otherwise our food was great. We found the pricing ok as well. It must be a pretty popular local lunch spot as there were few empty tables. However, we were taken care of quickly. I just did my wedding reception here using the Dinnertainment. It was great! Dana and everyone were so helpful, and made great suggestions to make the day even better. The entertainment was fun. I can't talk enough about the food. The lemon cake that was our wedding cake was delicious, so much so that we will be going back to get another one. We also had decorated sugar cookies made that were wonderful. The set menu for the Dinnertainment was great and gave my guests enough options. They even made special arrangements for my people with special dietary needs. The Seafood Newburg was rich, creamy and filled with scallops, shrimp and crab. The desserts were amazing, the peppermint brownie was huge and I kept eating it even after I was full. I tasted the egg nog bread pudding and it was great. Thank you The Grey Goose for making my wedding day so wonderful. I will be back to try the ham biscuits and get more of the from scratch baked goods. read more

Disappointing Food. I would not recommend this place to anyone. We ordered a very expensive cheeseburger $19 and a Turkey BLT $13. The cheese burger was burnt and cold . I asked for avocado and they spread a fake avocado spread on the bun and charged me $2 extra . The Turkey BLT - the bread was cold and soggy. The bacon was burnt to the point it was not eatable and the same tasteless avocado "spread" was on the bun. The Turkey was a fake cold cut that I would obtain at a local Aldi or Walmart. For that price I would at least expect a fresh slice of rotisserie Turkey. I understand we are all trying to get back on our feet after the pandemic, but if customers are spending money to support local establishments , we'd expect to be served decent food and not food where you had to leave 1/2 on your plate. read more

There's a sign out front that says they're voted the #1 Brunch Spot in Hampton but I'm not sure why. We experienced terrible service and subpar food. First there was only one item on the menu I wanted and they were sold out by 10:30 am (pretty terrible considering they opened at 10am) so I ordered something I didn't really want bc I was so hungry but it was not delicious and two of three of us didn't even eat half of our meals. A huge shout out to the manager here. We have come here several times. The first was just my two boys and myself. We found the place on accident and stopped in for cupcakes. It was the manager's birthday and we got to chatting. After that we started coming every time we were in Hampton, usually after the air and space museum. But the last time... it was one.of.those.days. Mamas, y'all know what I mean... and she knew it too. My husband got up to go to the restroom and my youngest knocked his glass off the table shattering it on the floor. With tears forming in my eyes (stress crying is really y'all!) I started to try and pick it up but she came rushing over to calm me down and made me laugh. This lady is a GEM. We left a 100% tip they are so good there! Wonderful! The Grey Goose catered our daughter's wedding last weekend and went beyond expectations! The surf & turf meal was just what they wanted and the cheesecake & pies delighted our guests. Your staff was fantastic - it was absolutely perfect. I've always enjoyed meals at the restaurant and have attended a few of the special events. This is only a review of their brunch experience: we continually come back here for the excellent food. Their brunch menu is varied and accommodating to those with specific dietary needs. The service is always timely and very friendly. My poached eggs are always cooked correctly, which seems to be a rarity here on the peninsula. I recommend the Bloody Mary bar on Saturday mornings, bottomless for $17! This restaurant is, hands down, the best brunch on the peninsula!! read more

We recently revisited The Grey Goose while we were in the area for a visit. The service was excellent but the food quality has really gone downhill. It seems that the recipes used are the same but the quality just isn't there anymore. The ham biscuit had the consistency of being reheated in the microwave and blue crap soup had little flavor. We did enjoy our slice of buttermilk pie but everything else just felt like wanna be adaptations of our old favorites. I also missed the way the restaurant used be laid out, it was a cute funky location but it just flows strangely now with the bright green walls and smoky dining room. read more

This was one of the first places I tried, right after moving here. It is very quaint & the service was wonderful. I also learned that Virginia is famous for ham biscuit & 'fruit salad'. Being a northerner, I guess I didn't realize that Virginia is actually considered "THE SOUTH". I ordered the Market to Market: bowl of stew- very watery, not very flavorful. Ham biscuit - I'm not a fan. The fruit salad was a sliced canned peach on some lettuce w/a ranch-esq dressing. The food was mediocre, I guess you have to be a local to enjoy it, but I must say it was a cute place & the sweet tea was wonderful. I'd prob be back with out of town friends who wanted to try some "local" treats. The desserts looked amazing, but I didn't try any. Give it a shot & go in w/and open mind. read more

Grey Goose never disappoints. I had egg and cheese and bacon biscuit and the biscuit was super flaky. Plus had grapes and potatoes. The potatoes were amazing. I know she makes all her dressings so I asked for a side of ranch to dip potatoes in. Heaven. So good. Hubby had biscuits and gravy and said they were amazing too. I have a hard time with biscuits because most places I've bern they are not soft and flaky, they are hard and burnt. Our new favorite brunch now!!! read more

Their Brunswick Stew did not impress me at all, it was bland, loaded with frozen mixed vegetables and it was on the soupy side as opposed to being a stew. The chicken salad sandwich is my wife's favorite thing to eat here. The place is a special mom and pop spot with delightful sandwiches. On Wednesday its "mensday" they do have more on their menu like burgers. My wife loves eating here but this would be the last place I'd eat if I were hungry. I'm giving this three stars instead of two because it wasn't like the food tasted terrible or not fresh, but it was just too bland. They needed more salt or something in the stew and the chicken salad was flavorless. No grapes, no nuts...no nothing from what we could taste besides chicken and possibly mayo...? We aren't really sure. We have heard great things about this place so maybe they were just having an off day and we would still go back and give it another shot.
