In 2 months of living at the Park Plaza building, the hot water has been off 4 times. Today, zero water for scheduled maintenance without notice. On a 90 degree day too. The building's A/C breaks often too. There's mold in the ceiling tiles and water damage all over the building. One laundry room for the 100-ish units that's moldy with breaking facilities. I found crack litter in the stairwell. There's been a dried poop stain on the second floor hallway since we moved in. Some residents are also irresponsible and let their dogs urinate inside. The roof and basement, which understandably aren't designed as public spaces, are littered with trash. The building might look beautiful but the bones are deteriorating. read more

Moved in and immediately after starting offer free months of rent but nothing for existing residents. not a huge deal until end of lease came around and they tried to extort me for another month of rent for my last month when I had paid first and last to move in. they tried to threaten me with legal stuff but it's MA so it don't work like that. Even got a email from the property manager stating my balance was fine but continue to get notifications to paid them double in rent in a month I already paid. apart from the shady manager the building sucks. slowest elevators in Worcester. hasn't been inspected since 2023. The key fob door is in shambles. Your key fob won't work and you'll be locked out of the builsing for god knows how long. MANAGEMENT REFUSES TO FIX IT. The area of worcester commons is always an issue. If you like homelessness and Fentanyl the grid is your vibe. nothing gets cleaned , someone threw up in the elevator. Till this day no one cleaned. There literally begging people to move in but fair warning if you do they will try to extort you. The worst management I've ever dealt with. I am going to small claims court. Do not ignore the reviews like I did!! The only good thing about this place is the concierge staff - those guys are the BEST. Here is a list of issues I had when I lived at the grid from September 2022-August 2023 1. Apartment was not move in ready, bathroom was disgusting with toilet paper on the floor and the rest of the apartment was not clean. 2. Dryers did not work for the first few months of my lease. 3. Dryers are still very hit or miss to this day even though we got new ones 4. There was no available parking the first few months even though they advertise it online 5. Trash rooms are disgusting 6. Fire alarms go off regularly often times in the middle of the night 7. There were mice in my apartment even though I cleaned it regularly 8. Electricity bills are absolutely absurd in the winter - I had one that was nearly $500 for a small studio, I've heard other residents had bills upwards of $1000 9. The property manager doesn't give a s*** about you and made excuses for every issue I had 10. Residents do not take proper care of their pets so there is often pet urine in the hallways and elevators. read more

Dont be fooled by the pretty lobby, amazing doormen and otherwise good employees. The management is horrible, unresponsive and takes no ownership in a place so many of us call home. Seriously save yourself the time and money do not live at the grid. Take a look at Scott's BS responses on the reviews below. Scott tried to tell 2 people they didnt live here like that makes any of the true statments they made any less valid. The list just gets longer, now my car was broken into in the garage I pay $200 a month for and Scott the worlds worst manager won't even refund me for the month. He is actually telling me I can not use the garage anymore and has promised to turn off my access by end of the month without my consent when I've always paid. First off, I moved into this apartment complex to work next door at my new job. Upon moving here, the unit I picked was not sufficiently cleaned; old dishes, trash and junk in cabinets, pest crawling around, dirty counters and restrooms, even piss in the toilet. I moved here beginning of March and shortly after the lights in the living room went out. A request was put in 3/13 for the light replacement and pest control. Request was followed up 4/6 then again 5/13 through the online application. Also followed up in person with the maintenance manager and crew. Very little communication about the issue was given back. No timeframe when issue would be solved. It seemed like the maintenance manager did not care too much and brushed me off, giving demeaning responses. Management should be empathetic, not cold. Today, 5/19, I followed up with the front desk and again received a cold response from the maintenance manager. A heads up or a timeframe oof when the issue will get solve would put anyone at peace of mind but none was given. In conclusion, This apartment complex is convenient for its location and somewhat it's amenities but when any issues arise, the response with maintenance is sub par, indifferent, almost even apathetic. I hope management will look into this issue as many other tenants have similar complaints. I plan on working next door for years to come and would love for The Grid to improve its team of managers to make us paying tenants feel welcomed so we all stay longer. Went to tour a few apartments and was appalled by how cold and rude the leasing office was. Brandy made no effort at all to make me feel welcome or even answer my questions about the grid. She was rude and short and made me feel like I was wasting her time. She informed me of which units I would be touring (by myself, I guess that's beyond her too). The actual apartments I saw were filthy. I couldn't believe that they allowed them to be shown in the condition they were. Hair in the shower drain, sticky messes in the fridge, and these units were listed as move in ready. When I told brandy about this and asked if they clean the units in between tenants, she shrugged and said "they should". After moving out and squaring up, receiving thank you emails that all notes have been paid, they sent an extra months rent to a collections agency. This is the first bad review I have ever written on yelp! This is the most poorly ran apartment complex I have ever stayed in. I'll travel around the country doing contract medical work. If your contract medical person looking for a place to live do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. The staff for the most part it's very rude. They lie and are very lazy. We moved here in July and stayed at Bancroft for a month and then moved over to Park Plaza for the rest of the year. I mean, the staff is nice but the place is not cleaned on a daily basis. If it is, they need to hire better housekeeping. I have housekept professionally for colleges, libraries and hotels and would be fired if I cleaned like the staff does here. During the summer it was disgusting going into Bancroft because the steps smelled of urine. I would always have to hold my breath. There were always random emergency alarms at any time of the day. Sadly Park Plaza is not better. Probably worse in my opinion. My dogs have to urinate in the back ally because there is no grassy area around us at all. 90% of the time the lobby and elevators smell of weed and/or garbage. There have been multiple emergency alarms, since we moved here a little over a month ago, going off at 4 in the morning. I have asked for my AC to be fixed 5 different times this month and nothing has been done to fix it. I have to keep my windows open and now my house is full of flies and bugs because there are no screens on my windows. I also have to deal with the sounds of traffic since we are on the corner of an intersection. I am very frustrated with our living situation and wish we would have made different decisions before we stayed here. I will say, I don't know if closing 7-11 was their call or not, but I appreciate it. I was verbally harassed everyday leaving and entering my building and now the crowd doesn't seem to hang around that corner as much and I am left alone. read more

This review is only about a one-bedroom apartment in the former Bancroft Hotel. Seeing for yourself is the tool to believing. The sales people are very good at sales, but not necessarily at transparency. The photos featured here for the complex were provided by the building's owner but didn't reflect anything we saw once we signed the lease. We were provided a layout showing approximately 550 square feet with a small but reasonable 6 X 9 kitchen to the left as we entered. However, as we entered our apartment on our agreed-on move in date, the "kitchen" was the size of a linen closet on the right with a mini-stove. The "main room" was supposed to be 15 X 16.5 feet, with an adjacent bedroom 9.6 X 16.5 feet long, with a 9.6 wide closet (width of the bedroom) at the end. What we got was about 2/3 the space with a tiny closet. We were dismayed. The stuff we brought would not have fit. We lucked out getting out of the lease because the leasing manager admitted his salesperson had misrepresented the options. He said he could re-rent the corner apartment quickly. That's great for him. The Bancroft looks prestigious on the first floor where they have the fitness center, and common area. In fact, it looks super awesome. In addition, the fun activities targeting young professionals and the pending beer garden, and comedy club add plenty of appeal. The company has clearly invested in the community to attract and keep young people. We were "sold" until we saw our place. It was wrong of us to sign without seeing it but we had been assured it would follow a model layout. That wasn't the case. The leasing manager said they didn't have an "official" layout to offer and asked where we obtained our copy. We got it from the sales person! Before you sign anything, make sure to see the actual apartment unit you will have. If they don't give you an official layout with square footage, take along your own tape measure and take the few minutes to measure the space. Demand the details in writing. Check the elevators too. Will your stuff fit on board or will you have to lug it up several flights of steps? Again, we should have known better to ask for everything in writing to begin with. We're fortunate the leasing manager admitted to his salesperson's communication errors. Unfortunately, we really looked forward to living there and instead needed to find other accommodations elsewhere in the city. read more

Been dealing with a neighbor who has been a consistent issue regarding noise at all hours of the night for the past month now. I have been very reserved about making any kind of deal about this, but it is costing me hours of sleep legitimately every night. I open 7 days a week at my job, and I'm ridden with being kept up listening to my walls shaking from video games and yelling... Originally when moving in during September-November this same neighbor was consistently leaving 2-3 trash bags of smelly food and garbage in the hallway during the week. My walls wreaked of urine and feces from the neglected dogs he owns and keeps in cages all day next door. After a few weeks i was hearing this same neighbor, verbally and physically abusing his animals. Dealing with the staff originally worked out the best, as they were very helpful, specifically Robert for actually following up with the original issues that were ongoing. I am now faced with noise every night from 12am-4am all week. Obnoxiously loud video games with speakers and the aggressive screaming of someone with very obvious anger issues. (I have videos of this individual threatening to kill people through my walls.). I have now attempted to deal with management directly reaching out to management Scott Johnson on February 24th, and March 5th. (It is currently March 14th) I have received 0 emails in return. So far a very underwhelming place to live, not at all worth the headache of living here. Paid 6 months in advanced on rent... completely regretful of that decision now, management clearly does not care about his tenants. read more

Pros: friendly security staff A roof over your head Cons: -very dirty in hallways and lobby -dogs poop and pee all over building, elevator, side walk -terrible smell of urine -"24 hr emergency service" is very slow to respond, or never responded -Very rude leasing office workers -Hallway and lobby constantly have stale smoke and garbage smell -The washer machines are very slow and dirty and the laundry cards don't work (I once had $50 on my card but the card stopped working so they made me buy a new $5 card and didn't refund me the $50 on the non functioning card) -it's really just a terrible place to live for the same price you can live in new apartments -rodent problem, we had mice some people had rats -the pictures provided of the apts is the definition of false advertising, the place is very run down -the windows don't stay shut, so there is a huge draft in winter which increases heat bill-one more thing management failed to fix -fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night at least once a month, and every resident has to go sit in the unclean lobby read more

For the love of God don't ever have a maintenance problem because they will send someone but never actually come out and probably Fix it. My toilet has been broken for months and I have to go to the lobby to use the restroom. Completely poorly run building. I'm from a small town and living in the city was a big change for me, but renting through The Grid Apartments was one of the best decisions I've made! It's so convenient in distance to the college I attend, diverse community, and very clean. There have been many new additions which has been awesome, especially to enjoy on the weekends, such as The Beer Garden, which is only steps away with great beer and great food PLUS living in The Grid can get you little discounts in the associated restaurants (Wednesdays 1/2 $$ apps in Beer Garden). The noodle place is awesome, chicken ramen is recommended. AND the comedy club and revolution pie and pint is opening which will add more to do on your days off over the weekend. Don't be fooled by the "upgrades". The main building at 50 Franklin has no air conditioning in the lobby or gym. The so called secure buildings constantly have the doors propped or the doors unlocked. They also rent to airbnb so you can never tell who belongs in your building. What's the point of them doing a background check when you apply to live here? The roofs leak during heavy rain - they patch the hallway walls, but never fix the problem. I think it's great that they allow cats & dogs, but people do not pickup after their dogs so there is a heavy odor outside in the summer months. Leasing office has had massive turnover - none of the staff is the same from a year ago. Parking costs are sky-high - the garage is dirty, the doors are finicky (i got stuck inside once). Fire alarms go off very frequently. There are interior doors that go into one of the apartment buildings - anyone can get in once you are in the garage. Overall it's not worth the money - I won't be renewing my lease later this fall. read more

This is the worst place to live in all of Worcester. If you're thinking about living here I urge you to reconsider. The staff is unprofessional and incompetent. The building has too many hazards and issues for the amount of money they charge for rent. The elevators stay broken 90% of the time. Residents have gotten trapped in the elevators numerous times to the point where I can hear them screaming for help 3 floors up. The windows do not open fully so you cannot place your own air conditioner in the window. All units come with central air however management decides when to turn it on. All the residents were stuck with no form of air conditioning for the first 2 months of summer due to the lack of care by the management. The fire alarm went off at 3am one night for no reason And management was completely oblivious to the entire ordeal. When the fire department showed up and asked where the alarm was located so they could reset it the staff could not answer the question and the fire department had to search for it on their own. I wish there was a rating lower than one star because this place doesn't deserve any. read more
