    Pimento Cheese Dip
    LeeAnne B.

We came to The Grill Downtown and only had a minimal wait. We came at the peak of dinner on a Thursday night. I really like the atmosphere inside. There is a bar to sit at if you prefer. I love a place that makes their own ranch. The appetizers were delicious. The pimento cheese dip and okra were very tasty. My husband got the Salmon and I got the shrimp and grits. I thought the shrimp and grits were a little salty but it could be the fact it was made with bacon gravy. Service was great and we want to go back and try other items on the menu. There are bar bites with wings and then there are items that involve steaks, salmon, and pasta. So an update from the previous post: I made a reservation for my father-in-law's birthday. Service and food were just as good as the first time! I tried the fried grouper and my husband got the bone in pork chop. Both were so satisfying! The child's portions were very nice especially for ages 7-10.

The night starts with a gin & tonic. Next, gotta pick my entree.

Decided on the bone-in pork chop with fried corn and steamed broccoli. Not sure I have room for dessert but may order it anyway to take back to my hotel.

Hours are wrong. Arrived on Friday at 12:50 and doors were locked. No holiday. I am not sure why they were closed.

We had spinach dip, which was the best we have ever had. My wife had pork chops. The portion was enough for two meals and the flavor was delightful. I had the ribeye, medium rare. Whatever happened to "CUSTOMER SERVICE"??? First time we…read morehave been to "Brothers Bar and Steakhouse". We eat out almost every day. We are local residents. I will admit, I parked on the wrong side of the patio. There was a door that appeared to be an entrance. I saw no Handicap Parking and thus parked there at the door as it was very convenient (we are 78 and 79 years old and have difficulty walking). We got out of the car and walked up to that door, and I attempted to open it, but it was locked. Thinking they were not open, I turned around to return to the car but then I heard someone attempting to unlock the door. I stopped and turned around, and the door opened and there were two people standing there. The female was somewhat smiling and said she was trying to unlock the door. The male said to come on in. I did ask the female jokingly, "been unlocking doors long (or something to that effect). I noticed on the door a sign stating, "emergency exit only". He said the main entrance is on the other side of the patio but to come on in there. I asked if I need to move my car and if we can exit at the same door and he replied, "leave the car and we can exit at the same door". I ordered a ribeye steak, medium well, but it arrived well done. I informed the server but went on and ate about half of it. The server brought me invoice which had a $6 discount on the $29.99 price of the steak which was a nice gesture. I paid with cash and he returned with a different invoice which shows the amount of change. I asked to see the original invoice as it shows a different amount. I failed to notice it shows the amount due if paying with a credit card. That seems to have upset someone and another person brought me that invoice. We then got up to leave and asked if we could leave through the door we entered and was told very emphatically, "NO". That is for "emergencies only". When I mentioned that I was told we could and tried to point out the person that told me that, about 4 people approached us and practically threw us out the front door. That caused us the walk out and around the patio area in the rain to get to our car. Needless to say, we were treated with disrespect and we were very embarrassed. If the overcooked steak had been the only issue, we likely would return. But when management and staff treat me like they did, I will NOT GO BACK. We will certainly tell friends and family the same.

They market themselves as a Brazilian steakhouse, but there was very little that felt Brazilian, or even steakhouse-quality, about it. The steaks had little to no flavor. Salt, pepper, and garlic can go a very long way, and this place didn't seem to use any of it. The result was meat that was bland and forgettable. Execution was also a problem. I ordered a NY strip, but a ribeye was brought out instead. That's a major miss on order accuracy, and it should've been caught by a kitchen quality-control check and again before it hit the table. To make it worse, the bar service was painfully slow. The bartender appeared to be on a date in the front corner of the restaurant, going back and forth between working behind the bar and eating dinner with his date. I ended up waiting on drinks most of the night. I wanted to like it, but between the bland food, the wrong steak, and the lack of service focus, I can't recommend it based on this visit.

They asked us to have a seat and said it would be just a few minutes. After watching three other families come in and get seated right away we were still waiting. 30 minutes later we finally got seated. They ended up making us wait until another family had finished and left. It took forever for them to take our drink orders. And thankfully everybody already knew what we wanted to order so we went ahead and ordered at the same time. We ordered fried pickles. They are the absolute worst fried pickles I've ever had. You could not even taste a pickle flavor. They were so thin that the batter dehydrated them. No flavor at all other than salt. Then came the extremely long wait for our food. Looking around the room everyone was having to wait and extremely long wait for their food. As people that were seated before us still had no food. When our food arrived, all of the adult meals came out but the two kids meals which were just hamburgers and fries took over another full 5 minutes or more before they brought them out. Waitresses were not spending anytime filling drinks. When she did ask my husband about needing more water he said yes he was going to need more water, but she never brought any more out. I ordered the country fried steak. The batter was very dark and color like it was overcooked or cooked in old grease. One of the patties could not be eaten because it was so overcooked and burnt. The green beans were very mushy my mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. My daughter ordered fried okra and it was cold. The cornbread muffin was so small, my guess is it was the last of the batter being used. I could have eaten it in one bite. But it was so dry and flavorless that I chose to leave it on my plate. When the waitress finally asked how everything was I told her about our experience with the overcooked country fried steak and the cold okra and cold mashed potatoes and gravy. My husband ordered prime rib and it was way overcooked versus prime rib that you see at other restaurants. My mother's steak was overcooked and her grilled shrimp came out cold. The waitress brought out replacement mashed potatoes and gravy and replacement fried okra. I asked her about taking something off of the bill since I could not eat half of my dinner. She tried to say that the mashed potatoes and okra that she brought out were extra helpings, but I explained to her they were not extra that they were replacement for what was cold. I was not asking for a replacement country fried steak but I would like something off of my ticket. She finally agreed and took $5 off. Also with us having two children in our group they gave us one children's menu. These are the menus that have a coloring page on the back. We had to ask for a second kids menu and had to ask for the crayons. When our food came we also had to ask for silverware. Do not waste your time waiting to be seated and do not waste your time waiting for your food here. It is not worth it. They definitely have issues in the kitchen, as I was checking out I heard the waitress say that she had to make peach muffins because no one else had done it and they had run out. Overall I felt like I was in a living episode of Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares.
