I was looking forward to trying this place but was super disappointed. I only tried one menu item so I don't know if this reflects on the other items offered. I ordered a carnitas Gordita for $15. Tipped $2 on my to-go order. Wish u had not. The Gordita was HUGE which would have been great if it was tasty. It was far from tasty, lacked salt and was watery. The bottom of the Gordita was soggy by the time I got back to work. I ate a few bites (maybe 25% of it?) and threw the rest away. I probably won't go back. read more

Small little place but good authentic Mexican food. I had pozole and al pastor and barbacoa tacos. Barbacoa tacos were a little greasy and heavy but the pozole was on point and they give you a perfect portion- pretty big. Michelada was good. Service is good too. You order at the register pay and then you sit and wait. The music volume was pretty reasonable and not too loud. Overall, the place is clean. read more

Food is really good! Love the tacos and quesadilla-you can pick the protein of your choice. Place is very small but feels very comfy. The portions are kind of small too (I got this as dinner) but it would be great for breakfast/lunch. The worker there was friendly and was able to make some suggestions on the menu. read more

The taste of the food was great. Great flavor and great portions. It would get a 5 star if just based on the food itself. The pricing is what gets me, even for the area it's high. Service was fast and nice, and it wouldn't be a problem to get in and out for lunch. The eating area is small and quaint, and you'll get no complaints from me. Because of the pricing I would probably not go back, but I still wanted to review it because the food was good. read more

My sister recommended this place and raved about the Caldo de Res (Puchero). I was disappointed when I went to the establishment and was told they were not serving it that day. I ordered the pozole instead. This dish is served with crispy chalupas so request tortillas if that's what you prefer. I requested corn tortillas. The prices are pretty steep. The pozole was BIG and flavorful. I like my pozole served with a lot of cabbage and sliced radishes. At Grill-Eria it was served with lettuce and radishes which was disappointing and unexpected. My friends ordered tacos and seemed to enjoy them. While the food was good overall, the prices were a tad steep. I would still go back to try the Puchero my sister raved about. read more

As usual, tacos are really good. We got carnitas and barbacoa. We also got their tamales this time, they are moist and pretty generous with their fillings. We also met one of the owners and he was very nice. He mentioned that they'll be adding more upgrades and menu items later this month. Ambiance was nice and quiet when we went. read more

We just went for date night and it was delicious! Very authentic Mexican, not Tex-mex-y at all. We got tacos (carne asada, pastor, beef birria, and barbacoa), a carne asada quesadilla, guac, rice, and refried beans. The carne asada was my fav (closely followed by the birria) and my husband LOVED the pastor. Everything was so good! The lady was so friendly and helpful, explaining the menu, showing pictures and giving examples of each dish. She was bilingual and made sure to ask our preference. My husband and I love the tacos and soups, as well as the pineapple lemonade and have become regulars at this place. The staff is very friendly and attentive, always suggesting new dishes for us to try. I will 100% be back! The best darn chicharron, only served on Saturdays so you'd best come early!! The parrillada meat platter with carne asada and birria were tasty, the carne asada was a tad overcooked and chewy but in general all super flavorful. My family couldn't stop raving about their burritos and breakfast tacos. The chilaquiles were delicious. I highly recommend you come to this delicious Mexican food (not Tex-mex) joint where you'll not only get wonderfully tasty Mexican food but also good service with a smile, it was fantastic. We went to Austin to visit family. Everyone wanted Mexican food. Our niece found this place and called to see if we could get in on a Friday night. The food is freshly made so it takes some time but it was worth our wait - about 15-20 minutes. They had a large party in the other room for karaoke so the wait was not unreasonable. They serve authentic Mexican food not Tex Mex, it was excellent. I had a plate of barbacoa with rice and beans and my husband had steak tacos. Both were delicious. Our niece had a chicken burrito, which she enjoyed, but liked the barbacoa best. It seems to be a family run restaurant, everyone was so friendly, happy, and nice. We received great service. Asada tacos were absolutely delicious, we went back 2 weekends in a row because we had to try the Al Pastor and barbacoa. Highly recommend! I have experienced TexMex, Mexican & interior Mexican food in Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio & restaurants & cafes in New Mexico & south of the border. The interior is maintained in a spotless condition and ingredients are fresh and tasty. Breakfast tacos are very good & the breakfast burrito is packed with flavorful ingredients treated very well. The plain refried beans are average good(never had refried pintos I would rate higher than that. However, the beans with veneno are absolutely delightful and their charro beans are among the tastiest i have had. Portions are generous and the grill work on the meats is top notch.(best chicken tinga enchiladas I have had in years & the chilaquiles make this 74 yr. old want to dance) Friendly staff and good service. Let's see if we can fix that and get her some more visitors from the Yelp community. Firstly, know that this food is lovingly hand-prepared with highest quality ingredients and the price point reflects that. I gotta admit, I was shocked to learn that our meal for 3 from a freeway-adjacent food truck was $62 - gulp, come again!? That total included 2 entrees, 5 tacos, and 1 horchata. Inflation must be impacting this small business, as the prices we paid were $1-3 higher per item than the prices on the online menu or Yelp/Google/FB photos from 6 months ago. Notably, prices are not shown on the posted menus at the truck, so you really don't know about the sticker shock until you start to pay for the meal. If you aren't a fluent Spanish speaker, it may be a bit challenging to negotiate if you want to ask questions about changing your order to bring the total bill down. Now to the food. Everything we tried was delicious & beautifully garnished with fresh veggies & crunchy, colorful pickles (en escabeche). Salsas were offered in red and creamy green by squeeze bottle straight from the fridge. Be sure to return these when your meal is done. We ordered at the truck window then waited under the adjacent covered outdoor seating area for our order to be called. As we waited, the owner came out to serve us an amuse bouche of small cups of the thick, traditional spiced hot chocolate & corn masa drink (atole), champurrado. Yum! Given the name of the place, I simply had to order the zacahuil, a (supposedly) gigantic tamale cooked in banana leaves in the Huasteca style of San Luis Potosi, only offered on Saturdays at this truck. If you get this in Mexico, it may be a meter or more in length, intended to serve 10+ people! My expectations were high from the truck's photos and the $16 price tag, but I'd say it was just... alright. The food portion was comparable to 2 small Tex-Mex tamales in corn husks and the pork meat filling was sparse compared to photos. While the flavors were very tasty, I'd likely not order this again due to the food-to-dollar margin. Tacos we tried were tasty but also very pricey. Cochinita pibil, chicken tinga, barbacoa, all on doubled corn tortillas, plus bean & cheese on flour, and potato, egg, & cheese on flour. The cheese appeared to be queso fresco, so it added extra "funky" flavor to the dishes where applied - good thing for me, not so much for my picky eater son. Tortillas appeared to be hand made, another plus. My date ordered the daily special, chicken tinga chilaquiles. Very fresh, flavorful, and delicious, clearly made-to-order with homemade, thick & crispy totopos. Will we be back? Yeah, definitely! La Señora offers a novel menu with items rarely seen around Austin, and the service is friendly & welcoming. Seating area is covered & kept tidy. It's like taking a little trip to Mexico without the airfare cost or travel time. Next visit, I'd love to try the tortas, tacos de canasta, tostadas de siberia, burritos (best price point), and the tepache, a kombucha-like drink from pineapples. To better manage my spending, I'll come prepared with the right questions in Spanish about prices before I complete my order.
